Cindy…why is the link not coming on until 4:30?
430? Why is it being delayed so much?
what?! Why the heck am I even gonna bother watching it an hour after it starts?! Oh my lifeā¦.
3-2, UH
per live stats
ACK why are they showing basketball?? The link died.
WTH!!!!!
Why can’t they show it live???? OMG!!!
This is lame
5-4, uh
Well this answers the question of syncing the much better 1420 audio and the espn3 audio. But really, what is espn thinking? I hope Penn State fans join in our frustration.
this is outrageous. what the heck is happening
5-4 us ahead
It’s live. my bad about the time. Match at 335 hist
ESPN3 doesn’t start the feed until the match starts. no pregame.
unreal…it’s 7-7 already
But the game is already on. No espn link
there is no link. Thats why we are confused.
Cindy, the espn3 link for our match disappeared. only the other 3 vb matches today are showing up. Please delete this comment if not appropriate, but espn3 what the heck?? I hope the coaches let you know how rude this is to the fans of two noted Sweet 16 teams.
guys, the only remnant of a link is from the hawaiiathletics link on the schedule page. i hope the tweeters can light up espn and some other folks.
The last volleyball telecast that’s scheduled is UCLA/Texas, supposedly started at 3 p.m. Hawaii time.
I can’t even find a link to the UH-Penn State match. Anyone else having same problem?
Thank goodness for Tiff/1420.
don’t know what to tell you. UH up 12-11
Best bet is listen to the radio broadcast for now
http://player.listenlive.co/27971
PA continues to butcher Greeley’s first name. Kaylee, Kylie, KaLIE
TMO has a service ace in S1
14-13 us!!
UH up 15-14 at the TTO
The actual espn3 link says the event hasn’t started yet …
http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2691490/
we got no reprieve …
or direct link to Hawaii radio
espn1420am.com
Great backset to Taylor by Higgins makes it 16-15
Radio call is excellent so far but I want video to go with. _______ espn. May have to create a twitter account to tweet at them.
The live stats is ahead of the radio
Taylor with a roll shot. UH up 19-16. TO PSU
Russ blinked first…TO PSU…
I no can handle lol! So mad. BUT I’ll settle for radio over nothing. LETS GO BOWS!!
This is so disappointing and maddening! Maybe next year UH should go for an undefeated regular season and capture one of the four seeds. Since the regionals are not predetermined, maybe Hawaii could get one of the top four seeds and host a regional and then have our own local TV station televise it instead of unreliable ESPN3. They don’t deserve televising rights on Hawaii’s home court after flubbing this big time! And only the Hawaii match they didn’t broadcast! What happened to them?
UH up 22-17. to pau
Hurray? Hawaii up 22-17!
pau…not yet, Cindy. Two more sets! š
The link has been completely taken down…even from the upcoming section
At least they don’t butcher the names on radio … Go BOWS!!!
Tiff Wells’ play-by-play call on radio is great, almost makes up for no TV feed.
So I go to ESPN’s page and fill out a feedback form. Submit. Get “null” message that won’t let me submit!
34. ESPN has the TV rights.
don’t think UH will host the regional. there are no predetermined sites. so the highest seed after the second round will host the regional.
UH up 23-19
ESPN really screwing it up. Both the UH and LMU matches haven’t yet started streaming and both matches have started. Kansas 1-0 up on LMU already.
UH had 2 set points, first at 24-20. PSU on a 2-0 run TO UH
What da….. Cr__
Alright Tai gets the final point 25 to 22
Woo hoo! Set 1 UH! Keep it up!
Ok the mojo is working and the confidence is going up
Nice to see Tai Manu Olevao get a service ace and kill at the end!
Commentator stated that the crowd that stayed from the Minn-Illi match is rooting for the Bows. Set 1 to … GO BOWS!
Take no prisoners wahines
Job #2: Keep the S2 win streak intact!
Does anyone have a functioning video feed?
Wahine appear to be very focused throughout set 1. Keep it up girls!!
ESPN app no longer lists the UH or LMU matches. What a monumental failure. If this doesn’t change, then no tv at all.
Can anyone tell me what the symbol and name is to tweet at ESPN and/or ESPN3? I just set up a twitter because of this lol. Thanks.
And the Wahine continue in Set 2 š
Can someone let is know as soon as they receive a feed? Mahalo
56. Twitter is @ESPN3
ESPN says technical difficulties. Replay will not be affected
thanks for all the help. ‘Net keeps going out. UH up 5-3 in Set 2
Replay is useless…WE WANT IT LIVE!
http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2691490/
Horrible … this link to the game now says …
“The event you have selected will be available on replay. Please check back soon.”
Disgusted … so sad … horrible ESPN …
… but GO BOWS!!!!!!!
Sounds like all the lifts and nets aren’t being called? I’m not there in person, you would think, if this is really the case, during the regionals they would have legit refs?
yeah wahine rockin still.
stream on
http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2691490/
Not seeing that at all(about the refs.) UH up 10-6. TO PSU
http://espn.go.com/watchespn/player/_/id/2691490/
63. There were a couple of ‘liberal’ contacts on both sides but ref letting it go on both sides. They have called several nets.
Keep it uo wahines 10 to 6 time out PSU
I’m thankful for Cindy and Tiff. ESPN3 though, a huge fail. I’ve left them feedback. Suggest everyone find a way to let them know how badly they blew it at an opportune time.
58 thanks!
stream working everyone!!!
Is the stream live?
I got the live feed on my ipad …oops now on my pc
Looks like the PSU server stepped on the line for that 8th pt
PSU has tied it at 13. Manu-Olevao and Kahakai miscommunication.
73 yes
74. agree about the footfaults. they missed a couple on PSU in Set 1 UH up 15-13 on 2 kills by Taylor
Working now. Using WatchESPN app on Roku box. 13-13.
PA announcer very knowledgable and funny. On Higgins’ dump shot he says, Oh yes she did.
Cindy –
Can’t get a thing here in Tokyo. Please keep people like us up-to-date.
Shoji not happy about the non-calls. Taylor with a kill. makes it 21-20
great rally. Thought Higgins dump shot to the corner was going to work. PSU saved it. couple of plays later converted. PSU serving at 24-23. TO UH
These calls are just bad, lol.
77 I have seen 2 foot faults so far and only saw like 8 pts so far.
UH has held off 2 set points. ties it at 25 on a PSU NV. TOU Nittany Lions.
Manu-Olevao ends it 27-25
is the links up for video streaming espn3? Or they being lame and only doing replay after the fact?
magill kill
Tai you go girl
HOLY CRAP LETS GO BOWS!!!!
Taylor Higgins doing a good job setting
woooohooooo!!!!!!!!
and 86, the announcers apologized and said to go back and watch in entirety.
Let’s do it Bows!!! 2-0
UH co-captains leading by example! Awesome…
#86 link is up and live
Merry Christmas / Happy Hanukkah … etc. etc. everyone!!! š š hehehe, yeaaahhh baby!!
Hawaii is very impressive. Some mistakes made, but other than that…well I am a believer in this team. I BELIEVE
Still not lost the second set all year.
WOOOHOOOOO! No let up! NO LET UP! Crush them NOW! Don’t give them ANY hope.
Lucky Set 2 has the Bows name on it. Seniors rise: point 26 by OMG and point 27 by TMO. And Set 2 to …. GO BOWS!
the leadership and explosiveness of shar tai manuolevao pushes and shoves!
both hang time omg and hammah time tmo crushs penn st 2 sets to 0!
Stats play-by-play most current. Slightly ahead of video; a bit more ahead of 1420.
I am doing 1,000 jumping jacks, 1000 pushups, 1000 situps, and etc….I am So HAPPY!!! OVERJOYED!! If we win tonite and tomorrow…I am booking my ticket to the FINAL 4
2late already espn!!
Hawaii now 30-0 in Set 2, 36-0 dating back to last year.
Loving our team … and having fun with this twitter thing š
Forgive me TMO for always ranting on you….You are certainly delivering tonite when it is counting.. You Go Girl!
#keep it up! one more!
Our hitters are digging very well. Well-balanced digging game by UH. Awesome, TMO!
All middles and outsides for UH are hitting over .300. When was the last time you saw them do that, even against Big West competition? The winner of this match, IMO, will continue the impressive hitting performance. Another thought…the margin for error is so small. PSU is hitting an impressive .293, and three of their four top attackers are hitting above .350. UH has only scored five more points overall. With two tall teams, blocks are few. But UH has been helped with all three OHs hitting on all cylinders, including TMO at .375. And team is hitting nearly .400. WOW!
On the ESPN3 broadcast the announcers are talking like the match is tied. They hardly seem to be batting an eye that UH is up 2-0
If PSU was up 2-0 they would be eating that up and talking about the defending champs this defending champs that
LETS GO LADIES! YOU CAN DO THIS!
Ace by Ka-LEE Greeley Makes it 10-4. TO PSU
AHHHH didn’t realize the radio was a point ahead of the video feed. Don’t know what to do lol! Do I just listen to radio but watch the online stream?! GO BOWS! Kahakai is digging everything! Block showing up, cheeeee!!!!
Hawaii playing the best volleyball I have seen from them in YEARS! Havent seen them play like this since 2013 vs Texas
They are GEEVING UM nightmares
Dave deserves to beat Russ Rose before he retires. It won’t be fair for him to retire and never beat him. Let’s keep it going!!!!
PSU timeout = +1 Wahine 11-4
Now 12-4 AWESOME
11-4 is this really real???
Tai is validating her career
Block by Tai
sorry and my internet keeps going out. thank you for all the help. UH up 15-7
Somebody is on fire Tai
Ladies, keep the foot on the pedal, DON’T GIVE THEM ANY ROOM TO COME BACK!!!!
Whew. Wahine stop mini-run 17-10
If they just trade possessions rest of match, Wahine in quarters. But must play tomorrow.
18 to 11 oh wait 19 to 11
Greeley with the solo. 19-11. TO PSU
19-11 Can u TASTE IT?
This is sooo crazy! I wish I was there in person!!!
Wahines playing outstanding.
Another mini-run. STOP THEM. 20-14
Ok. Just trade out already so we can celebrate. 22-15
Here it comes …. 24-16
Done
You go Tai…Hawaii wins
UH wins 25-16
CONGRATS WAHINE!!! 1ST EVER WIN OVER PENN STATE AND IN A SWEEP IN THE REGIONALS!!! They played flawless tonite. Tai had an incredible match, our liberos didn’t let anything tough the ground!
Thats how you silence all your critics Tai
Now, GO TO BED.
Wahine tame Lions. Can they whack Gophers? YES!
Wow!!! Tai 14 kills/.500 hitting. Congratulations to Dave, staff and the Wahine !!!
As I have said before, this is why we need Tai.
Way to go Wahine!!
I am not surprised.
so happy for Dave
Beautiful!!!
Wow our team hit at a 389 percentage. Tai it 500 14 kills with 8 digs Taylor hit 361 with 18 kills and 8 digs
Awesome !!!! Chicken skin time. Congratulations Wahine !!!!!
H-Man we were thinking the same
1:30 start time (HT) vs MIN on ESPN-U (allegedly)
ka ‘aina o hawai’i finally crushes the defending national champion penn st in a sweep! shoji is happy for the first time he outcoached the tactical mastermind of russ rose!
1 more tough opponent then I am packing my bags to the Final 4….What a Christmas Present already!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
147. start time I was given is 330. supposed to be ESPNU
Radio just said 2:30 HST start with radio pregame @ 2:20 HST … Assoc. Coach Hall on the radio now
The regionals usually are on target on espnu. Let’s just hope that they don’t screw it up tomorrow
“2:30?” Dunno. Just going by NCAA bracket sheet (all times Eastern)
Can someone check on start time tomorrow? Radio said 230 tomorrow, the online newspaper stated 330?
Where do we get ESPN U?
150. 3:30? Mystery deepens. I don’t know anything beyond NCAA bracket sheet. (6:30 ET = 1:30 HT)
Yes. Had a feeling Tai would get out of her funk, just hope she keeps playing well against the Gophers too.
IMO the wahine serve really won them the game, they need to keep serving tough, they might have overall the toughest serves left in the tournament.
WOOHOO!!
And meantime the ESPNU schedule says 1:30
http://www.locatetv.com/listings/espnu#12-Dec-2015
for those who didn’t see the stat line.
taylor 18-5-36
Manu-Olevao 14-1-26. 2 of the team’s 3 aces.
Looks like it is the second match of the day. The first one is showing as 11 a.m. So maybe the venue made the change to have a safe buffer and ESPN and NCAA didn’t update the charts yet?
Nawahine and PSU now available on ESPN3 replay.
Wow, a complete team victory. TMO has been vindicated..
Three down, three to go.
LET’S GO BOWS.
But just like NCAA to sked Hawaii for late match Friday, (2nd) early match Saturday.
gotta go write. be back later.
Well, not that ANYONE at NCAA expected Hawaii to beat PSU. Do they hate Russ Rose too? (removes tinfoil hat)
Great job Wahine!!! Might be the best match you played all year. Didn’t panic and played steady all match. Everyone contributed to this great win. Good luck tomorrow, whatever time you play.
Interesting thing about tomorrow’s match Minnesota has never beaten Hawaii, we need to stay undefeated against them!!!
Today UH finally beat PSU now need to keep out streak over Minnesota alive.
Cheers to the Wahines for a historic victory against Penn State!
Jeers to ESPN3 for crashing our first half of the party. No excuse!
I wonder where Ali Longo is today. Bet she’s smiling. She’s the transfer from Penn State who was a terrific libero for UH two and three seasons ago.
Na Wahine, keep on rolling. All Hawaii is behind you!
Show how bad the NCAA selection process is. Just win it all!
i missed my afternoon nap today because i was so amped up and excited for this match that my body refuse to go down. a couple of things, heard our radio commentator say that this win would be the biggest upset in the tournament, and that it would send shockwaves throughout the tournament. well, if i were the other teams remaining seeing Hawaii upsetting the defending national champions would shake me up a bit. lol.
also Dave you said your team played their best match against TAMU, well now you can erase that and say that tonight’s upset was your teams best match.
this was such a team effort, Higgins got everyone involved and really did a fantastic job setting the ball high. i am so proud of this team, and even more excited for tomorrow
How long does it take to have a newbie-to-the-site’s comments posted?
Tayler set her best match. Come on wahine you can get to final four, just keep serving tough and feed the middles, I expect Maglio to step it up tomorrow.
I was so nervous about this match that I refused to follow any of the telecast or broadcast. Imagine my sheer delight when I enter this site to a 3-0 sweep!!!!!
Congrats Dave and those wonderful gals!
Anyone have a breakdown of what Minnesota’s weaknesses are in observation of their season games?
to confirm match time Saturday
1:30 HST.
ESPNU OC 221
To the those that think they know better than Coach Shoji…
To those who have bashed Tai relentlessly…
To those that have criticized Tayler…
To those that think they have all the answers…
Your opinions are noted…
But please…
Know your limitations…
Please…
This may have been the best $650 I ever spent on a plane ticket!
A little hoarse from cheering…so getting a Long Island to soothe it…and a grill cheese at a very crowded sports bar!
UM fans leaving as I came in…high5d me after finding out we swept! Had to circle the whole place to find a seat at the bar…another table of folks also congrat’d me (for our Wahine’s win) with high5s.
Got carded coming in, then guy said “wow” which I assumed for my age being well over 21…he paused and said it was because of the HI I’d! That was nice!
Also, warriorfan, I could have sworn a lesser (than UH) team beat us in the Nat’l Semi-Final match in Dallas in 2003…or was FL the lesser team who beat us that yr and USC beat Minn to make the Final?
80 … folks in arena, did it feel like a neutral site? From what you saw in the arena today, any sense of which fan group is larger, Hawaii or Minnesota?
Thank you moderator! First post got lost in cyberspace but no worries, no harm no foul just glad to be part of a good blog with decent respectable volleyball fanatics :o)
TMO was in the zone! OMG was unstoppable. Kahakai is hoover, digging blasts and popping em back up almost perfectly. Beautiful to watch.
passing in the last two games was excellent. This gave us a lot of options.
i think we’ve seen better serving in the Big West. (thoughts)?
Na Wahine playing at a high level now and with confidence after Texas…
Hope this continues… Now back to watch USC-Craighton. USC lost the first set.
First, not sure what ya’ll are talking about “first match” tomorrow…there is only one…the Regional Final of UH vs UM.
From someone in the arena: MN definitely has the bigger crowd…it’s only a 3-4 hr drive from the Twin Cities.
Also, could not hear any of the arena announcer’s comments during the match, nor could I tell that at anyone was cheering for UH besides the other UH friends/family sitting near me and the cheerleaders/band at the other end of the arena. Had to read lips of cheerleading coach to figure out what cheer they were doing…f&f mainly stuck with “Let’s Go ‘Bows!”, regardless of what cheerleaders were doing! (as we normally do!)
Posters have been wondering if this has been UH’s best match of the season. Sure passes the eye test, given the opponent, but I can give a fairly convincing argument that this is the best that any PSU opponent has played against the Nittany Lions all season. These are the facts:
1. UH hit .389 for the match. The next highest that a PSU opponent hit was Iowa at .283 (Iowa still lost).
2. UH hit .161 pts. higher than PSU. Next highest was Nebraska, .115 pts. higher last month in its 3-0 win over the Lions.
3. No other PSU opponent had five players hit .250+ for the match (min. 10 attempts) and three players hit .300+ (min 10 att.).
4. For a 3-set match, UH had only 10 hitting errors, the lowest of any PSU opponent, and its 3.33 errors/set is the lowest in all PSU’s matches. In a 3 set match, Minnesota and Nebraska managed only 14 errors each earlier in the season against PSU.
5. PSU had 3 team blocks and 1 blk/set, PSU lows for a 3-set match (for the first stat) and for any match (for second stat).
6. UH had 13 more assists than PSU, or 4.33/set more. NW had 13 more assists in its win over PSU, but that was a 5-set match. No other opponent had such an assist advantage.
7. For only the fourth time this year, PSU was out-blocked by an opponent. The others were Minnesota (twice) and Nebraska.
8. Finally, and most impressively, UH had a season-high 73% side-out percentage for a PSU opponent (next highest was the Nebraska win at 66%)–side-out stats not available for all PSU matches, but still very, very impressive.
IMHO, UH dominated PSU like no other opponent has this year.
A tip of the hat to Des Moines Register for some putting up some great pics of the Wahine, their coaches, and fans!

http://hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=34860
new thread up because it’s Saturday in Des Moines.
189. thanks Mav as always.
one other thing to point out.
of the 8 teams left, Hawaii the only one to have played a Power-5 team in every round.
190. interesting since there’s been zero coverage in the print edition this week.
For those who do not have ESPN access, a poster has uploaded the PSU match. Link is to Volleytalk thread for the match: http://volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/61371/match-thread-hawaii-moines-regional?page=37
Wow, those are some great photos!
Another interesting fact, the last two teams to beat PSU in the tournament ( they have only lost 3 times in the past decade in the tournament) UCLA and Oregon went on to the finale. UCLA won and Oregon lost.
