JC running back; volleyball; Corie Kaimikaua
The Warriors’ walk-on tryouts have been moved from today to March 5.
But running back Casey Lambert of American River College won’t have to wait for a slot on the Warriors’ spring roster. Lambert, who transferred to UH in January, is participating in the offseason conditioning program and is set to compete in spring training.
Lambert is 5 feet 10 and 195 pounds.
Here are his highlights: Lambert videos
As a Roseville (Calif.) High senior, Lambert rushed for 1,789 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 7.6 yards per carry and 162.6 yards per game.
As a junior, he ran for 1,587 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging 8.3 yards per carry and 144.3 yards per game.
He also can be used as a kickoff returner and on defense.

With a rare full week of preparation, the volleyball Warriors take on Cal State Northridge tonight in the Stan Sheriff Center. First serve is at 7:05 p.m.
Last year, the Warriors had consecutive sweeps in the two-match series at Northridge. Head coach Charlie Wade did not use a timeout in any of the six sets.
For volleyball fans, this is another chance for the Friday combo: Taylor Averill in the front row and garlic fries on the cardboard tray.

Corie Kaimikaua was a woman whom everybody liked. Scratch that. Many people loved her.
Corie was smart, kind, gorgeous, generous and spontaneous. (Hips don’t lie. During a sales meeting several years ago, she broke into a Tahitian dance.)
Corie was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, an altruistic organization dedicated to helping others and the community. It was fitting. She dedicated her life to helping others and the community.
Corie also led the sales team that worked behind the scenes in the early years of this blog.
Cancer won again, dammit. But Corie put up a good fight — with grace, humor and aloha.
We’ll miss her.
Have a Great Aloha Friday everyone…
First?
Darn, prong!
Guud Morning Tsaikos…bootiful day.
Got a pleasant call from a student helper yesterday; raising funds for the softball team. Couldn’t help but make a contribution. There are people working behind the scenes trying to make things better for our athletes.
Lesson for the day….no monku…put money where mouth is…donate!
IMUA WARRIORS!
Welcome Casey!…glad to have another WARRIOR!
Welcome Casey Lambert…Competition is open to whomever wants it most…I hope he’s able to make an impact on this year’s team.
Sorry to hear about Corie Kaimikaua…May she rest in peace.
hope the rain showers take away most if not all of the “vog”!!!
like a yoyo, went to the bank without an umby and came back wet – what a dummy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good morning Tsaikos!
Nice stories on the Warriors volleyballers yesterday and today, ST.
The garlic fries are lethal. As much as I like garlic, I no can handle.
Reminder to any MVB booster club members – 1st Chalk Talk of the season(!) today @ 6:20 and postgame potluck Sun (TCC will be on the menu).
Glad to see UHAD and Upper Campus is focusing on the academic aspects of college sports with regards to the coaches’ contracts. Eliminating the attendance and season ticket bonuses may now put more of the onus on the marketing and admin parts of the UHAD. I hope the elimination of the victory thresholds will lead to a tougher MBB schedule. 🙄
GO WARRIORS!
GO WAHINE!
Looking forward to the funny comparisons.
Is it Casey Lambert, or Lambert Casey? His hudl.com page seems to indicate the latter.
anyone notice the temperature in Anchorge, Alaska {37/28} vs Chicago [19/18 }/Cincinnati {18/17 } Cleveland {20/8 }
upper Canada sends all that “artic” cold into the “plains” and you freeze da “petuti” – gunn funit!!!!
Garlic Fries should be a staple of the volleyball team. After every kill or block, the yell they put out could “kill” and leave a lasting impression…imho
are we going to have a “fly-on-the-wall” when the HC/OC/DC all meet for the first time soon?
any “moles” we can count on like al’s “birdie”?
Welcome Casey Lambert!
And my condolences to the Kaimikaua family.
Sad to hear of Corie’s passing.
A dear relative of mine was recently diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.

Good morning everyone!
Welcome Casey Lambert!
Condolences to the Corie Kaimikaua ohana.
Still waiting an update on a new DL coach. But very little coming out of UHAD.
#17, the roster lists last name first although they forgot the comma when they got to Lambert’s name. So, it should be Casey Lambert.
Condolences to Corie’s family. Her last name rings a bell for some reason.
Sorry to hear about your friend Mr. Tsai.
#19…I believe we are current with the amount of coaches we have. 1. Clune, 2. Jones, 3. Powell and 4. Demarest departed and 1. Baldwin, 2. Mason, 3. Eliminian and 4. Cookus entered.
1. Clune -> Mason
2. Jones -> Elimimian
3. Powell -> ???
4. Demarest -> Cookus
5. Wynn (per birdies) -> Bailey
Who is Baldwin?
Baldwin?
23. Warbow — But 1. Bailey is the new OC , which was not one of the coaches leaving.
26…islandman—-If someone doesn’t leave from the offense side of the ball, look for the D-line to be coached by committee (Baldwin, Cookus & an GA).
change Baldwin to Bailey…
#27, Huh, OC Bailey gonna coach the Dline too? Or do you know a dude named Baldwin?
Maybe Intern Lance Samuseva will be promoted to Dline coach
How about Bishop, Baldwin, Rewald, Dillingham, & Wong or Chow ?
Mason, Elimimian, Cookus,Bailey and Chow, et al.
#29..I meant to say Mason instead of Bailey, but you know what I meant.
#4 northshorefan if by softball you are referring to UH Na Wahine softball I can tell you we do not use telemarketing students to solicit money for softball. It is done by AKA or UH Foundation because we deposit our booster funds through them and they have our contributors list. If you did not emphatically state that you want your monies placed into the softball account it goes to the general funds of AKA/UH Foundation for their use as they see fit.
Their lead is to mention softball because they probably using our list to make you feel more willing to donate to AKA/UH Foundation. If you stated that you wish your money go into the SB account they should comply but no way of telling unless Coolen sees your name on his monthly donor list and he knows you did donate a specific amount on a given date. But Coolen wouldn’t know who donated so he merely accepts the financial statement on the softball account.
#northshorefan I know this is happening because I get the same call from UH Foundation and they do mention that I gave to softball. I finish by saying to the caller that I prefer donating directly to the SB account online or in person. There is no way of telling where the money is deposited over the phone, no paper trail.
I wonder if any of Chow’s players will break into this list of Hawaii Centurions.

Cancer Sucks…
That is very sad about Corie Kaimikaua.
Condolences to her family.
HAPPY ALOHA FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!
Condolences to the Corie Kaimikaua ohana.
Welcome Casey Lambert…
31: Seems to recall there is a song called the Ballad Of “Bishop, Baldwin, Rewald, Dillingham & Wong by Frank De Lima from the late 70’s. I’ve only heard it once or twice since I moved to Hawaii in the mid-80’s.
32: Sounds like a name for a law firm or an accounting firm…
Ralph, I did tell them I wanted to donation to go to the softball program. I’ll be getting some mail from them and will make sure.
Mahalo for the heads up. Hope to be there this weekend.
40. Tanman; I’ll be looking for that song. Now looking at wikipedia, it looks like actually the firm was connected somehow to the CIA . Rewald didn’t get his just reward ?
40. Tanman; Hope that’s the name of a winning coaching staff song, with a new refrain.
TANMAN #40
Islandman #42
In 1978 Rewald established an investment firm in Hawaii called “Bishop, Baldwin, Rewald, Dillingham and Wong”.[7] The firm’s name incorporated the names of Rewald and his partner Sunlin Wong along with the names of three prominent kama’aina who had no connection with the business: Charles Reed Bishop, Henry Alexander Baldwin and Benjamin Dillingham.[7] The firm claimed that funds were guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation up to $150,000 and that minimum returns of 20% annually were guaranteed.[8] (As the firm was not a chartered bank it was not eligible for FDIC insurance.)
In 1983, the Internal Revenue Service began an investigation of Rewald when his firm’s false FDIC insurance claims were discovered.[9] On July 29, 1983, Rewald attempted suicide at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, allegedly because the media was on the verge of exposing his background.[9] Six days later, the company was forced into bankruptcy.[1] Rewald was arrested on August 8, 1983, immediately after his release from the hospital, and was charged with theft by deception. He was held in lieu of $10 million bail.[9] He faced 98 charges and a maximum of 400 years in prison.[1] Sunlin Wong pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years imprisonment.[1]
In reality, the investment firm had been a Ponzi scheme.[10] Rewald used money from new investors to pay interest to earlier investors, all the while siphoning off funds to pay for his lavish lifestyle.[9]

A DT prospect just became available from the JC ranks. We could certainly use another body or two on the defensive front. http://jcfootball.scout.com/story/1519703-still-available-dt-leo-fuimaono?s=87
Yeah, UH should check out Leo Fuimoano.
Volleyball and Baseball tonite and it Pau Hana! It’s “Tirsty” Time! Let’s Go Bows!

In the past there has been some questions in regards to the selection process for the Circle of Honor.
The current AD has made a unilateral change for the responsibility of the Circle of Honor: it moves from the UH Athletics SID’s office to AKA.
Many of the athletic alumni are not satisfied with this move.
Mr. Weir….yesterdays postings…by pollypicador…was about the information eminating from the SID office…the lack of it….at least concerning the comings n goings of coaches n athletics…should be read…
While me believe that the present AD should be sitting on his hands….maybe he got sumthing right…lord knows that he has more tweets about the negatives up there at UHAD then a flock of termites on a hot summer night…
Why not both be 50% responsible n work 2 gether ?
It was a shame n disgrace to the Noga families for the long snub….why can only be because pressure was put on the SID office not to include them….true or not….????
Me thinks time to put the pettiness aside n do what is right….for all concerned….
Is good to see your post about that….thanks to the one who alerted you…
Don Weir:
the “acting UHAD” like the “acting chancellor” still making decisions that have a negative effect on athletics!
like BJ moved the opening game from Saturday to Thursday nite at 7 pm start time – justification, 2 more days to prepare for Ohio State! first heard of this while on the mainland, and my first reaction was “WH—” is that dummy doing
