QB, D-lineman commit to Warriors
College of San Mateo quarterback Dru Brown and defensive lineman Alexander Sunia of Leone High in American Samoa have accepted football scholarships from the Warriors.
They join the team later this month.
Brown has four years to play three seasons.

Great news. Mrs. SB and I have been able to secure Cabana A for the last two tgates. That means that we will be in Cabana A for the whole year again. It also means we are starting to close in on football season. Can wait for the 5F’s to begin!

maybe you are mistaking Dru Brown for Kyle Gallup (a Marshall walk-on) that is walking onto the Hawaii program for this upcoming year. He announced his transfer to the Hawaii program a few days ago.

I found info on Alesana Sunia to be thin and confusing. MaxPreps has him graduating in 2015 from Santa Rosa HS, CA, but the video clip on Hudl has Sunia #77 OG playing for Leone HS, American Samoa. He’s a real big body.

UH football signs QB, lineman

College of San Mateo quarterback Dru Brown and defensive lineman Alexander Sunia of Leone High in American Samoa have accepted football scholarships from the University 0f Hawaii.
Both players will enroll in the bridge session, which begins June 26, and participate in training camp. Brown will have four years to play three UH seasons.
“It just felt like home,” said Brown, who completed a recruiting trip to Hawaii on Thursday. “It’s a great place. I love the coaches. I love the players. It’s where I want to be.”
Brown, who is 5 feet 11 and 200 pounds, threw for 1,879 yards and 21 touchdowns in 11 games in 2015. He also averaged 4.7 yards per non-sack rushes. San Mateo ran a pistol offense.
Brown said he first met UH coach Nick Rolovich several years ago at Nevada’s football camp. Rolovich was Nevada’s offensive coordinator for four years through 2015.
“I really like Coach Rolo and the whole (UH) staff,” Brown said. “I feel like they genuinely care about their players and the program.”
Sunia was used primarily on the offensive line for Leone. Sunia, who is 6 feet 2 and 305 pounds, is expected to compete at nose tackle or defensive tackle for the Warriors.

5’11” is more than good enough for us. the best will play regardless of size/height. fyi he’s half an inch taller than the #1 qb recruit in the 2017 class.

Watched the tape on Dru Brown…the guy is the real deal. Aside from being a good, solid passer, he’s got good feet and his decision making is first class. The one thing that stands out for me is Brown has what I call, Football proximity sense….he intuitively knows where everybody is….and when starts to close down on him he makes quick choices to spin out and not give the defenders a clean shot. He’s better than Woolsey in every respect. Just my Opinion.

Brown reminds me of the Nielson [sp] kid who made a big splash by coming to UH to sign his LOI and left without ever getting on the field to play.
