Positive thoughts for a good guy

You think you don’t know Aaron Iyomasa, but you actually do.

If you have watched a local telecast of a UH sporting event the past 30 years, the odds are Iyomasa had something to do with it. Video, production, direction, prep work, post-production … Iyomasa served many roles for the Home Team and, now, OC Sports.

He’s going through a difficult medical time now.

If you have a free moment, please pray a prayer, wish a wish or think a good thought for a really good guy.

* * * * *

Some good things do happen late at night.

After last night’s basketball game, the Stan Sheriff Center crew fitted the Teraflex floor over the basketball court. That’s a time-consuming process, unlike, say, changing a tablecloth. It takes a crew effort and a few hours.

It also took the blessing of basketball coaches Eran Ganot and Laura Beeman. The original plan called for the basketball court to remain through Monday afternoon, then change for tomorrow night’s exhibition volleyball match. Instead, both coaches agreed to allow the Taraflex to be placed last night night, enabling the volleyball Warriors to practice twice today and once on Monday in the Stan Sheriff Center. The basketball teams will practice in the school gyms on Monday.

Teamwork often begins at the coaches’ level.

#2 re: would be great if that happened,I wouldn’t mind seeing more local boys transfer home and host potential local recruits to give them an idea of what to expect on the mainland and share their experiences might help keep a few more local boys home

    Good morning Tsaikos!

Best wishes and speedy recovery to Mr. Iyomasa.

Thanks to Coaches Ganot & Beeman. Good things happen to good people. Charlie Wade will repay the favor, trust me.
(PS No way Fibber would have agreed to it)

See you all at the SSC tomorrow night!

Sammy Watkins is lighting up derrell revis. GO BILLS!!! GO WARRIORS!!!

  9. kapakahi January 3, 2016 10:58 am

    #2,

The irony here is that…….former UH WR Trevor Davis ended up at Cal only because…….Chow granted the scholie release to Cal……with assistance from Rolo & Ashley (when both were at Nevada) contacting the Cal coaches on behalf of Trevor.

  10. Warrior Dave January 3, 2016 10:59 am

#2 Cheepo, thanks for the info but don’t know why you didn’t want to say the players name (K. Noa). Made me work hard and look for it 🙂 Good luck in finding whatever makes you happy Mr. Noa.

  11. S.peezy55 January 3, 2016 11:00 am

Sorry ST but barring some kind of miracle, your jets will b joining my bills on a fishing trip rather than going to the playoffs.

  12. S.peezy55 January 3, 2016 11:06 am

    GO BILLS!! GO WARRIORS!!!

  13. Bowwar January 3, 2016 11:38 am

Greg Sallas did well for the Bills today, so the Jets stay home…

  14. S.peezy55 January 3, 2016 11:45 am

    12

I totally agree, the stats won’t show much but he did have a big game. Did well blocking n had a crucial 3rd down reception. I hope he stays with the bills.

  15. MAKA January 3, 2016 12:03 pm

S.peezy55 I hear the fish are biting now.

  16. Stephen Tsai January 3, 2016 12:28 pm

Jets should have kept Salas. There’s much to be said about pass-catching over speed.

  17. kev-1 January 3, 2016 1:13 pm

If I remember correctly, each of Salas’ receptions came at crucial points of the drives. Good game.

Can someone please keep him on a roster already?

  18. sfogate January 3, 2016 1:16 pm

LOL ST…..if you can’t catch who cares how fast you can run.

  19. cappie the dog January 3, 2016 1:18 pm

    Get well, Mr. Iyomasa.

I have a bunch of KFVE 10:30PM delayed football games in VHS purgatory.

  20. cappie the dog January 3, 2016 1:19 pm

    Rex Ryan fan for life.

He gives Greg Salas a chance to extend his career next season.

Jets in the playoffs would have been a lot of fun, though.

  21. 3-Prong January 3, 2016 1:53 pm

Salas’ stat line: 3 catches on 5 targets for 41 yards, 13.7 yard average.

  22. Da Punchbowl Kid January 3, 2016 2:05 pm

Prayers for Aaron. Be better soon.

Way to work to gether at the Stanley. Makin the most with what we have. Gotta love what’s been happening on the Stanley’s courts on game night this fall from all teams.

I am not a basketball expert, but what Ganot’s doing with the B-Ballers looks great. Can any recall a btter looking team and coaches for the men’s team in recent history?

  23. NotNasti January 3, 2016 3:41 pm

All three of Salas’ catches went for first downs (on 3rd down). Clutch.

  24. A-House January 3, 2016 3:43 pm

if Noa decides to leave Cal and attend UH will the CAL coaching staff “waste” a scholarship for a whole year for whatever reason?? let him go and find another player who really wants to play for Cal – same can be said for UH

seems very childish and foolish on their part

is it true that the UH WR was “kicked out of school” for whatever impropriety? it’s not like the UH coaching staff dumped him — if I am wrong, my deepest apology to Davis.

  25. A-House January 3, 2016 3:46 pm

after a great start to New Year’s day with cloudless skies and brilliant sunshine, the clouds and rain and cold has wiped out any little happiness for a great year!

  26. NotNasti January 3, 2016 3:56 pm

A-House. My understanding is that TD, after having a breakout freshman year, thought he could play for a “better” team and asked for his release.

  27. Hilorain January 3, 2016 4:08 pm

    Thoughts and prayers for Aaron.

  28. kapakahi January 3, 2016 4:38 pm

    #23 & #25,

Neither reason is accurate……just intentionally implied by others besides TD.

  29. clyde January 3, 2016 4:44 pm

#23. A-House: Could you be thinking of RB Will Gregory?

  30. kapakahi January 3, 2016 4:48 pm

    #23,

Must be thinking instead about former RB Will Gregory.

  31. Ipu Man January 3, 2016 5:58 pm

Aaron, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) Amen, Tsaiko Friend.

  32. turfwar January 3, 2016 6:18 pm

Get well Aaron. ST is right. There’s not a nicer guy around.

  33. rundown808 January 3, 2016 7:51 pm

Most good guys go unseen or unheard but have a very big impact. Thank you Aaron for your service and loyalty. Praying for the good guy. Psalms 91.

    Hallelujah! Finally a WR coach.

Looking forward to new WR Coach Kefense Hyson with his experience and knowledge of the game. Good to know this coach keeps himself educated on the game by coaching and internships. Can’t substitute experience. Pretty impressive resume considering last WR coach. Hyson played as a DB coach in college which is great for the WR CORP. Brings in the defensive side to a WR. The ability to read the defense and see the seam before the play starts. Tremendous asset to any receiver or back. That takes knowledge as a player and coach to teach that. Can’t teach speed you either got it or you dont. But you can teach technique and knowledge of the position. You can build confidence and teamwork.
And capitalize on every players positives. A great coach knows how to adjust players and plays to make it work.
So, to Rolo. Thank you for finding the best candidate possible. Lord knows, we can’t offer the best salary, facility, or record. But, with building a new program. It takes drive, dedication, and determination, to do what’s right with what we got.
I’m pretty stoked. #team bring it

Time to get this receiving corp popping.

  34. rundown808 January 3, 2016 7:57 pm

    #32 correction
Kefense played DB in college not coached at Williamette.

  35. el burro sabio January 3, 2016 8:17 pm

Mr. A-House, Cal would not be wasting a scholarship for a year. If he’s not attending school there they don’t have to use it on him. This would keep UH from giving him a scholarship. Wondering why Cal would not want to give him a release since he has to redshirt and can’t play against them next year except that he would be a great resource in planning.

  36. RICK January 4, 2016 5:14 am

I THINK WE SHOULD ALL WISH FORMER COACH RAUSCH. NOW COACHING WITH THE OFFENSIVE LINE AT THE DENVER BRONCOS GOOD LUCK AS HE GOES THRU THE NFL PLAYOFFS. DID A GREAT JOB AS THE RECRUITING COORDINATOR.

  37. BigWave96744 January 4, 2016 9:01 am

Phil Rauscher was hired as a “Intern” by the Broncos. He does not coach the Oline. In fact he’s not even in the staff directory which has over 200 people listed.

  38. Alphonse Capone January 4, 2016 9:29 am

    @ BigWave96744 & RICK — That’s not the case at all — I heard very differently ….

WHO are you kidding? He was the worst of the worst …. Literally did not to any work whatsoever… Also, perhaps you should do your homework a bit and learn about all of the other Shenanigans he was a part of. I do not wish him well, he doesn’t deserve the ‘ break’ he got. —
