Travel day
The Warriors practiced for 85 minutes this morning, ate, attended meetings and then prepared for the afternoon’s non-stop flight to Chicago.
The NCAA does not have a travel-roster limit for FBS games. The roster is capped at 68 for games between Mountain West Conference teams. Because of budget constraints, the Warriors’ travel roster is 66 for Saturday’s Wisconsin game.
Wideout/returner Keelan Ewaliko will not make the trip because of shoulder issues and a family situation.
But running back Diocemy Saint Juste, who missed the first three games because of a hamstring injury, is on the travel roster.

Have a safe journey.
My friend, I swear the guy bipolar and has split personality.
First game of the season he says Wittek is ok. Second game of the season he yells at Wittek on the TV and blames him for the lose. Before the third game he is all ranting about Wittek again and then after the game is all happy and praising him.
Brah, relax, enjoy the season…
Now I going give him the link to this blog. 😆
Looking for some PT for Diocemy.
GO WAHINE!
GO RAINBOW WARRIORS!
Will the game be televised in Hawaii?
Good luck to the traveling Warriors and stay injury free. Just bring home a W. Go Warriors !!!
nutmegger the game will be televised on the Big 10 network channel, cable tv. at 2 pm HST. Check your cable vendor listing at 2 pm.
Any further info on their travel arrangements? I am in the area and would like to try to show support somehow. Will they stay/practice in the Chicago area or go straight to the Madison area?
You can watch the game on Big 10 net work channel on cable, but only if you subscribe to Oceanic’s Sports Package.
The Oceanic T-W sports package is about $9.95/month. Subscribe for a month then cancel if you wish, but I keep the package because of the PAC12 channels. Get to see women’s volleyball, softball, basketbal, etc.

I stream the Big 10 Network (http://www.btn2go.com/) over the internet by logging into to the Time Warner Cable (Oceanic’s “partner”) as the “TV Provider”. No need for the Sports Package.
Sorry, UH 16, WIS 26
I firmly believe the Warriors have this game. It won’t be high scoring on either side as Wisconsin has a stout defense too. My prediction: UH 21 WIS 17
Thanks all for the tv info.
10. oneseason … What package do you get ? I can’t log in because i get a message that my Oceanic TWC subscription does not include the games like the Ohio St game. So i get it through another streaming service, which may not be authorized.
The nation’s Bottom 25 teams are listed in the below link. Eight MWC teams are in it or 1/3 of the 25. The only teams not on the list, so far, are Hawaii; Boise St., Air Force and Colorado St.

word on the street is that it will be chilly at the game tomorrow – probably in the low-mid sixties with light winds
we are preparing to “bundle-up” by layering and using the large towel from the hotel as a okole cushion – heard we are in the nose-bleed section of the stadium off in some corner
glad we brought gloves
toured Chicago today and “bus tired” – yet about 15 in our group is currently at the Cubs game @ Wriggly Field – breakfast is served from 6-8am and don’t expect many of them will make it cause they should return to the hotel after 12 am – very long walk from the entrance to the bus pick up point – and most if not all have not started to pack
time to bocha and sleep

Great Afternoon All!
Eh…Hawaii wen beat Nebraska wit less than 66 guys. I seen ’em at the stadium on Saturday. They was all kinda small and frankly, sorta on the older side. Nebraska musta been shame. 😎 😆
A-house,
Thanks for the blow-by-blow of the trip. Glad you folks getting around.
…looking forward to the pics! heheheh
Ahh… No Ewaliko.
Prediction Wisconsin 52 Hawaii 14
I think if I were a coach I would recruit only defensive linemen…
And then make some of them offensive linemen…
some defensive backs…
some linebackers…
some safeties…
some centers….
some kickers…
some punters….
some tight ends…
some offensive guards and tackles…
some slot backs….
some wide outs…
some half and full backs…
and some quarterbacks…
Then don’t hafta worry about injuries….
Just switch em around.
🙂
19. Akamai Okole … Hawaii had motivation against Nebraska:
“Across the field, the Nebraska team, all 80 of them, were decked out in their red uniforms warming up. They looked huge and fast. Imagine, 22 active players from Hawaii, many half the size of the Nebraska players, warming up on the opposite side of the field!” They were small and few in numbers, taking up only one corner of the field and while warming up, were subjected to heckling from the stands calling them “pineapples” and asking “are you a high school team?” and telling them to “get back on the bus now.”
But earlier in the locker room, Coach Vasconcellos read a newspaper article which referred to the game as a “scrimmage” and showed the team a check from the University of Nebraska for $25,000 – the guaranteed amount promised UH for the game which was the biggest guarantee in UH history at that time. Coach elucidated the fact that he could not accept the check if it was going to be only a scrimmage and asked the team to give Nebraska a football game by “beating the xxxx out of them.”

DPK,
Mahalo for the call. I remember the Marukai location when it was Wigwam. Used to buy my 45 rpm’s from there and my uncle had a shoe repair business at Wigwam.
Heard on the news that Ewaliko not making the trip due to injury.
#15 .. islandman. I have internet and regular cable through Oceanic. Maybe it is the internet subscription? It works of Big10, PAC12, and ESPN streaming.

Thank you Islandman for that refreshing reminder that it’s possible to win against all odds, just as the 1955 UH team that beat Nebraska at Lincoln. I did not realize there were only 22 players for Hawaii and they were small. Real small. Well except for Colin Chock who must be around 6-2. But he was a receiver.
29. H-Man …. Thanks. Wikipedia had this too:
1973 – The Rainbows record what is widely considered to be the biggest upset in school history, defeating Washington 10–7 in front of 52,500 in Seattle. The Huskies were favored to beat Hawaiʻi by as many as 50 points.

28. oneseason … Could be. I have HawTel for internet and TWC for TV and get some ESPN streaming via HawTel. i am able to get OC Sports streaming by using a TWC log on.

Islandman Washington turned the ball over I think 8 times in the 73 Washington game….Harold Stringert had 3 or four interceptions and the fumbles were caused by hard hitting gang tackling! It was a beautiful afternoon and a beautiful day. That team finished 9-2 with controversial losses to San Jose State. We finished the year with a 7-6 win over Utah-
Wasn’t Albert Holmes one of the heroes with his clutch running.
Albert. Tui Ala had most of the carries that day. I still have the Articles pre and post game. I spent all day battling Dave Pear who later spend some time in the NFL
Good morning, Tsai-kos!! 🙂
35. Maddog 50… a roster is here, don’t know if it’s accurate, but it has many familiar names. Which one is you ? I think some listed are incorrect.
http://www.fanbase.com/hawaii-warriors-football-1973/roster/
Unfortunately, football has it drawbacks as noted by Dave Pear in this 2009 article.

#31 …”RODNEY” … RIGHT ON BRAH !!!!! Leave ’em all at home and bring players instead …..
Is there any downside from a personnel standpoint having to reduce the travel from 68 -> 66? In terms of any disadvantage of not having enough players to rotate or backups in case of injuries. 2 additional players x 6 games from a financial standpoint doesn’t seem like a huge amount of money but I guess when they say our budget is tight, they mean it.
#HealEwaliko
Md 50. Did your wear #64?
#40 – LOL!
Upset.
UH – 30
UW – 27
We have an associate athletics director vacancy at UH but looks like Tomey is ready to move on from Hawaii, permanently.

Wish all the players could enjoy the experience of camp randal !
Budget problems!! Please!!! Are we in it to win?
Poor players and Chow and coaches.
So shame !!
Regarding inquiry. I wore #50 for 3 years. That roster lists me at 6′. 235. I have no problem issuing my name name. You can find it on the Na Koa newsletter recently sent out. I support the program completely go to coaches choice for Coach Chow and u will see my name 2x. Go Warriors!!!! Mahalo to all that support!!!!!
Islandman action reaction. I have an artificial hip aches and pains all over and arthritis in my feet wrists etc. I would not trade it for the world!!!!! My wife has RA two artificial hips and a bunch of health issues……needless to say she never played. I would not trade my experience in football for anything in the world, my experience in Hawaii for anything in the world. I never even sniffed pro football but played in the rugged physical Chicago Catholic League where you played games 5 days a week and called it practice! Wouldn’t trade a minute no matter how I feel. I am in decent shape and thankful for the opportunity to play for THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII!!!!!
RE: Maddog50 #45
It is great to hear playing experiences on the field from ex players like you! You were on the same team with Rich Ellerson?
Maddog50: Any chance you’re related to a Victor (same last name as yours)?
Let me guess: Tsai is sighing at all the bratwurst and buns
in Madison, Wisconsin and forgot about his blog…
If he has a chance he should try the mud pie at the Wisconsin
Student Union cafeteria—chocolate fudge graham cracker cream pie.
🙂
Warriors in Madison. https://instagram.com/p/8B7UznBL4E/
Rich Ellerson was on the team my Senior year but was “shirting” I do remember him. Back then you did not pay much attention to guys who did not play. We had so many guys just come and go. My buddy and teammate who played LB in 74 remembers him well. I got more stories than most from back then because of my recall and also it was uncommon for many to stay all 4 years. Hawaii was a free transfer school as was I think Florida State. Get kicked out one day and suit up on Saturday night!!!!
If anyone is interested, I found a site to watch the game online. Go to:

GO RAINBOW WARRIORS
There is no person I know with the first name Victor. I have a small family tree. I am the only one in Chicago with my name that I am aware of. Very few in the U.S. Hey I am am just a guy trying to make a difference in the world of Warrior Football!!!! GO WARRRRRRRRIIIIOOORS!!!!
Thanks OT 808…
