Welcome to Middleton

MIDDLETON, Wisc. โ€” After a mere eight-hour direct flight from Honolulu, seven hours in an O’Hare hotel and a two-hour-plus bus ride, the Warriors arrived in Middleton.

The Warriors had a 75-minute practice at an area high school before heading to a restaurant for a bratwurst dinner.

on the way to Madison, we stopped at the Jelly belly candy factory – took a tour – then, as all Hawaiians do, buy the place out – each family walked out with at least 3 large bags of whatever!

next stop was for lunch at the Bratz Shop for lunch – my oh my, a fresh cooked bratz is sooooooooo ohno!! with German potato salad, special sauce, and pickled cabbage

short drive and stopped at the Mars Candy factory for more shopping!!

with 2 more days of shopping – nearly garrans baggage will be more than 50 lbs

Holiday Inn’s room is very large – king sized be with almost 8′ of space on one side and 10′ on the other -HD tv to watch the Thursdy nite NFL game

Looking at the score predictions, I notice that with the exception of cappie the dog (who predicts a 17-14 upset), everyone else thinks UH needs at least 20 points to win while the less optimistic do not think UH will score more than 17 in a loss.

So let’s hope UH scores 17+ early in the game! ๐Ÿ™‚

Good Luck Bow’s will be rooting for you in Minnesota. There will be 55 ex kanakas in the stands from Minnesota. Let’s give da CHEESE-HEADS a good showing.

  16. Maddog50 September 25, 2015 3:23 am

No matter how I try to read what some columnists write it always comes off slighting or derogatory. If UH had the support from all sides not only monetary and otherwise it would be in a much better place. I regularly joust with a pseudo fan who is always sending out UH stuff by the minute and yet does not even go to games or for that matter not sure this “fan” even sees the games, yet is always offering commentary most of which is highly opinionated and typically cynical. Just about to the point of just ending the aggravation with small minds and just not readingthe crap they spew-learned a lesson long ago “don’t argue with stupid people-first you have to sink to their level-then they beat you with experience!!!! Go Warriors!!!!!

  17. Maddog50 September 25, 2015 3:35 am

Corey Clement the Badgers outstanding RB will not play this week and will likely be out for the season. The Badgers will make due with the backups. Injury has forced the use of a true fresh at LB. Wisconsin has a lot of talent, but if we can hold down mistakes and a move the ball they have a chance to upset!!!!

Should be interesting if popularity of american football has increased from the last time college football was played in Australia which was back in the 1980’s in Melbourne. Not sure if Sydney might be a better draw as far as attendance.

Couple articles from those two games in Melbourne.

  19. what is the role of a free press? September 25, 2015 6:13 am

Maddog writes: “No matter how I try to read what some columnists write it always comes off slighting or derogatory. If UH had the support from all sides not only monetary and otherwise it would be in a much better place. ”

Yes. because we all know that the role of the press is to never be critical and to function single mindedly as a cheer unit for UH football no matter what. No dissenting opinions should be published. That’s what responsible journalism is all about!

  20. cappie the dog September 25, 2015 6:22 am

I think Patty Smyth of Scandal said it best: “Shooting at the walls of heartache/Bang! Bang!/I am the WARRIOR

C’mon, win Hawaii, and force the college football world to talk about Rainbow Warrior football.

“Someday we’ll find it/the rainbow connection,” not quite as blood-pumping.

  21. el burro sabio September 25, 2015 7:07 am

    MD50,

IIRC, it was you, Haneberg, Aiu, and Winkfield, and who was the 5th starter? Please correct me if I am mistaken.

  22. Akamai Okole September 25, 2015 7:08 am

    Great Morning All!

    GO WARRIORS!

  23. WarriorNY September 25, 2015 7:24 am

    Great to see DSJ back…

  24. Maddog50 September 25, 2015 7:45 am

El burro, Scott Haneberg LT Dennis Walters LG me Scott Hudgins RG and Charlie my buddy RT. I was close with Charlie and Scott Dennis was often injured and undersized. Scott Hudgins was a Cal Transfer and a real character. Hated practice I mean hated practice and seldom spoke but a really good OL. I think he had a shot at the old WFL. He had bad veins in his legs and had his legs wrapped before games. I still have the papers both pre and post that game—-lets go get us some Badgers!!!!!!

Can’t wait to watch our team in action. Go Warriors!

  29. islandman September 25, 2015 8:47 am

Maddog50 …I see you played in UH’s second to last season at Honolulu Stadium and HC Dave Holmes’ last season in 1973. Couldn’t beat the atmosphere of the old stadium. In 1974, Larry Price became HC . So you didn’t play in the Hula T. Many familiar names on the roster, if it is accurate, like June Jones, Dan Audick, Alex Kaloi; but they didn’t play, i think, because they didn’t earn letters in 1973, probably were freshman. Other names: Levi Stanley, Cliff Laboy,Don Weir, Jeris White, Adrian Kahoโ€˜ohanohano, et al .

A box score says UH scored, against Washington in the 1973 upset in Seattle, on a pass from Ortez to Brown in the 3rd quarter. You were behind from the 1st quarter 3-7. Stuprich had kicked a FG in the 1st quarter. No scoring in the 2nd and 4th quarters. I couldn’t find the Brown in the roster or on the UH website list of letterwinners.

  30. RB September 25, 2015 8:49 am

I hope UH wont wear those throwback uni’s.!!!!!

  31. islandman September 25, 2015 8:55 am

    24. Ala Wai … The UH website says they will wear their traditional road uniforms, as worn since the 2012 season. Which ones are those ?

  32. Maddog50 September 25, 2015 8:58 am

    All you mentioned were teamates.

  34. islandman September 25, 2015 9:22 am

Another stats site says the WR in 1973 was Allen Brown. And Kaloi played, but not too much during that season.

  35. Stephen Tsai September 25, 2015 10:43 am

    Did I mention there’s a new post?
