JC wideout joining Warriors
The Warriors are adding height and depth.
Makoa Camanse-Stevens, a former Kamehameha Schools quarterback, has accepted an invitation to the Warriors’ training camp. He played the past two seasons at Arizona Western Junior College. He said he is 6 feet 4 and 205 pounds.
He will compete at wideout, a position to which he switched in the middle of the 2014 season, although it is believed he also has the skill sets to even play on defense. Camanse-Stevens competed in basketball and volleyball at Kamehameha. At the 2012 PIAA combine, he completed the three-cone drill in 6.90 seconds, the second-fastest time among participants.
After his third semester at Arizona Western, Camanse-Stevens was undecided about his football future. He was enrolled at Windward Community College during the past spring semester.
“I re-evaluated my priorities and what I wanted to do,” Camanse-Stevens said. “I guess I decided I wasn’t done playing football, and I wanted to finish it out. I really wanted to join UH’s team. I wanted to play in front of my family and loved ones. I’m very thankful coach (Norm) Chow is giving me the opportunity.”
Camanse-Stevens added: “I like that (Chow) was straight-up with me. He didn’t knock around the bush. He told me how it is. I appreciate that. He’s a very honest person.”
Camanse-Stevens said he received notice on Tuesday that he had been admitted into UH. He will have three years to play two seasons.
Camanse-Stevens has trained under Chad Ikei. He said he also has worked out with UH quarterback Ikaika Woolsey. Although he cannot compete in UH’s offseason conditioning program, future teammates invited him to participate in the players-run unsupervised workouts.

Then I went home, tried the same thing with my backup laptop, and the same problem.
Hopefully, the glitches will be corrected by training camp.

A healing thought for some ailing Tsaikos and their Ohana.
I think SteveM is just trying to make it clear to those who are not computer savvy. JTL, I do it the way you stated but I still think it shouldn’t be that difficult for the blogmasters to fix that glitch. It should be done for the occasional blogger or new ones who may not know what the issue is.

what ever happened to that Jordan guy? Why and how was he fired?
That’s why I think the lack of comments, everyone getting lost. Looks like Chow wants the ball out of the QB’s hand’s as quickly as possible. Loading up on some tall receiver’s!

I go to staradvertiser.com. ST’s current blog is found in the sports section under Warrior World and in the Blog section. Never had a problem finding the latest post. I also can find it by going to the previous day’s blog, at the bottom, there will be a link to the current post.

Story with a Hawaii connection. I remember this player when he was a backup QB at Kaiser a few years ago. Good sized player who is well travelled – 6 transfers in 4 years of high school. He is now a Utah commit, probably being looked at as a linebacker. UH, Arizona, Colorado, and USU have also offered Neves.

7pm tonight at Pearl Ridge Elementary Cafeteria is a “town hall” meeting to discuss UH Athletics shortfall. On KITV news Mercado-Kim said that 78% of her constituents are against providing more money to UH for athletics. She will be at the town hall along with UH coaches including N.Chow. News reporter recommended fans should go.

I’m not really sure how well she knows her “constituents” given that she lost her last election in November.
I’m sure any financial query can be shot down. Should public money be used to subsidize the UH law school? Seventy-eight percent of people probably would say: why should we have more lawyers? Should taxpayers subsidize the zoo? Heck, no, let the tourists and elementary-school parents pay for it.
You get the picture.
It’s easier to say “no” than to come up with creative ways to make money. Because, come on, what lawmaker has found ways to raise money other than through taxes or click-it-or-ticket violations?
ST, your remarks on Mercado-Kim’s comment are right on. I’m also disappointed that our politicians as well as the UH administration are either uninformed about or unwilling to discuss the importance of athletics to building a positive brand image of the university. They all seem to think that UH should be above having to market itself to potential students, when the reality is that major state universities all over the country are engaged in an intense competition to grow their tuition-paying enrollment. There are multiple studies that show having a successful football program can increase the number of applicants to a school, and yet our politicians and administrators just can’t seem to grasp that money spent on athletics is an investment with a high potential payback. Real leaders would be educating the public about this, not passively hiding behind poll results.
#23, Right on. I used to support Donna as she is in my district but no longer. I agree it’s a short sighted way to look at things regarding the constituents remark. Miss the days of Gov. Burns who was a big UH supporter. Not only athletics but wanting to make the entire school a flagship school that the state could be proud of.
Hodad, Jordan Wynn, who was the QB coach and did the play- calling in 2014, became surplus when Chow hired Don Bailey as the new Offensive Coordinator. I guess it’s like musical chairs. When the music stopped, there was no chair for Jordan Wynn. There was no official announcement by Chow or UH Athletics, but it was made known on this blog that his contract simply was not renewed.

Donna Kim is a Washington State graduate.
Utah State’s request for $1.5 million from their State legislature to help fund their athletics was approved. This is a small state that has 5 other 4-year schools playing football. This is another reason why UH has fallen behind other MWC schools.
