UH to play Army in four-game series
UH and Army have agreed to meet in a four-game football series: Sept. 11, 2010 in West Point, N.Y.; Nov. 30, 2013 at Aloha Stadium; Sept. 15, 2018 in West Point; Nov. 30, 2019 in Honolulu.
This is how UH will open the 2010 season: at home against USC, on the road against Army and then at Colorado.

Defensive tackle Rocky Savaiigaea is today’s guest on the Warrior Beat Show. Rocky will answer questions posed here and on the show’s “Cover It Live” section. The show begins at approximately noon. Please join us.

If things go according to schedule, offensive lineman Kainoa LaCount will participate in the Warriors’ training camp.
LaCount, who last played at College of the Canyons, has spent the past year earning the credits necessary to meet NCAA standards.
LaCount has one obligation remaining, an online course (through Los Angeles Harbor College) that ends June 7.
LaCount said he has two years to play two UH seasons.

I’m at UH yesterday, and slotback Dustin Blount asked me to stand still. Very still.
I do.
Then I feel a whoosh over my head.
Wideout Royce Pollard, who was behind me, jumped over me.
* * *
This is Blount’s way of saying he’s cheering for the Lakers:

Wideout Malcolm Lane demonstrates the new “shaka crunch.”

Last week, a certain sportscaster said: “I went to your blog, and you had pictures of people. Who are these people? WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?” Which is why I’m running this shot:

Happy birthday to d1島 and Peaches and Bill Stutzmann.
* * *
So sorry to hear about the passing of Fale Laeli’s mom.

It’s also sad to hear that Ethan Zohn is suffering from stage 2 Hodgkin’s disease. Zohn, winner of “Survivor Africa,” was a member of the Hawai‘i Tsunami soccer team in the 1990s.
#1!!
Wow!
It’s 5 am in Hawaii, and our blog host is already hard at work.
Good thing you’re not 6′ 3″. Otherwise, there might have been more than a whoosh.
Blogging in from around Erie PA. On the road to Ohio.

ST,
My son and his girlfriend (who lives in Ohio) just finished college (in Pittsburgh). They’ll be moving to California.
The custom agent at the border to NY took a long time before he let us through. He was surprised to see a car with Hawaii plates entering from Canada.
McTruck:
I started exercising, and now, for some reason, I can’t sleep through the night.
Maybe I have to go back to my usual lazy ways.
Oldie:
I can imagine the headache.
I heard the Final Four in Detroit was a pain because some of the teams (and their fans) stayed in Canada.
Then again, you can gamble in Canada, so there’s the tradeoff.
You take the good, you take the bad,
you take them both and there you have
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.
There’s a time you got to go and show
You’re growin’ now you know about
The Facts of Life, the Facts of Life.
When the world never seems
to be livin up to your dreams
And suddenly you’re finding out
the Facts of Life are all about you, you.
It takes a lot to get ’em right
When you’re learning the Facts of Life. (learning the Facts of Life)
Learning the Facts of Life (learning the Facts of Life)
Learning the Facts of Life.
Sorry. I had an 80s flashback.
ST,
Fortunately, there was very little traffic at the border crossing.
Good luck to you and PL with your Rocky interview today.
Good Morning All! Hope everyone has a good Tuesday!
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
ST – good thing you are not too tall or else you would have been responsible for his lack of children later in life.
good morning tsaikos from neva neva land (where one neva sleeps or eats on schedule, they improvise).
Stretch:
Are you on Kauai already?
Good Morning Tsaikos!
Sorry for bringing this discussion over from the last blog…
I think I side with BG in being more fan(atical) than a fan(alyst).
Have a great day!
Good news about Kainoa!
Good morning Tsai-kos!!
ST – you up really early. 😀
Congrats to the Arandas!
PB – stay safe and try to keep in touch. Play nice in da sandbox.
happy bday to D1, Peaches, and Bill Stutzmann (a true lurker)
have a blessed 39th bday, and may your ohana treat you well…..or pretty good, or take you to dinner, or just remember……
HAPPY BDAY GUYS! AND ONE GIRL
Happy Birthday D1, Peaches, and B Stutzmann. May the sunshine make your day a warm and wonderful one.
Great Morning All!
Mahalo for the B-day wishes! 🙂
Birthday Shout-outs to Peaches and Bill Stutzman (who may be having a very, very exciting week!)
…and doey! (as opposed to andooey)
rocky, whats the normal routine for you and the rest of the DL for unsupervised offseason workouts? hope you guys are working hard! good luck this season.
went downstairs to look at the futures for the BCS and they get bsu at 80-1 to win the bcs national title. i sat down, puked, laughed, then realize that a WAC team has better odds than most of the other bcs schools. school like big 10 ia is listed at 200-1. looks like even the oddsmaker don’t think the bcs schools are worthy of the national title, but a team from the WAC is more deserving. i gotto go check this again, because my eyes and stomach is back to normal (which ain’t saying much).
whitey,
Spend less time in the elevator…might be better for your stomach!
heheheh
I’ll have to wait until I get to the office to upload pictures. Having computer problems at home.
I hope the receivers continue to set each other up for the big plays when the season comes around…
…in 107 days!
Uhhhh….
I hope you are not planning to post a pic of Royce Pollard in mid-flight from your perspective! 😈
….I mean, I understand the trend nowadays is for a lot of “commando” action… 😯
Stephen on Rob & Russ NOW!
Four remaining for MVB Coach: Reyes, Wade, Seely, Wong
Presho out.
HiHo…
morning gang!
Happy Birthday d1島 and Peaches and Bill Stutzmann!
Pauoa Boy – take care and stay safe brah

ST: Do you appreciate the fact that when you are working, people are going over your head?
WENA; thanks for the invite for your preschool but we will be in Vancouver that day.
PEACHES: Happy birthday and hope all is well with you.
Hauoli Lahanau Peaches, d1 and Bill S!!!!
Aloha Kakahiaka!
ROCK-Y, ROCK-Y, ROCKY-Y !!!
ST,
would that be a situation where someone would yell, ‘Heads Up’? just thinking out loud
Good Morning Tsaiko Family!
Now that school is winding down, and work is calming down, I can finally catch up on the blog. It’s been way too long!
I wonder how much the bet was between Blount and Pollard?
Morning everyone.
Glad to hear that Kainoa has a good chance to be in camp. He will be a great addition to the O-line depth chart. I don’t see him breaking into the starting lineup right away however. I think that it will be very hard for him to take one of the tackle positions away at this point. Eventually though, whether through hard work (hopefully) or attrition, he will be a big contributor.
Go Warriors!
Happy Birthday d1 and Peaches!
mih – #42 😆
Hi Ronnie! Summer’s starting. My child’s last day of school is tomorrow!!
go, go, go wf2 we love your post
Good news on Kainoa.
Hope that he and Napeahi can make it to camp.
Both can provide immediate help for the OL.
It would be great to have Kainoa LaCount get into camp!
Happy Birthday to d1shima, Peaches, and Bill Stutzmann!
I gotta wonder who the finalists are for the Women’s Basketball Coach. Has it beenl hush hush to perhaps keep Bolla out of the loop? Or worse, because the high mucka-muckas have put selecting a woman as the 1st criteria over who’s best as Ferd suggests? The latter would be a travesty.
Happy Birthday to d1, Peaches and Bill Stutzman
Sup tsaikos
Happy Bday to d1, peaches, and bill.
Have a great day everyone.
Back to work.
Thank you for the birthday wishes everyone.
d1 and Bill Stutzman – Happy Birthday. Have a wonderful day guys.

Happy Birthday!
Mr. Stuzman ~ Just because you pause to celebrate your Birthday today, the race is not over! You have many more milestones to pass. Be Happy you are still in the running. Hehehehe!
timuua, ciao e grazie.
No BG said he would ignore my posts 🙁 he is a retired person who has taken an about-face to learning by his own admission. Look BG maybe cantankerous and loudily officious but his pitch is so ludicrous as to render him harmless. Let him bark–he is a colorful characature and wont affect my posting 🙂
timuua ~ Good Morning!
Isn’t BG the one that secures the Tsaikos tailgating and parking area each season?

And a very Peachy birthday to the birthday girl!
And Bill, you’ll have a great birthday as well, I’m sure! Best wishes to you!
let me know when lacount actually puts the pads on….whats it been now, close to 2 years.
Nice to see LaCount is makin’ his way in… He’s gonna help, I’m sure.
Tsai-
The bad news is that it looks like you were in “over your head” during that encounter with Blount and Pollard. The good news is : DAYUM!!! Some Warriors got MAD athletic skills, jumpin; over a full grown blog host like that!
😆 😆 😆 😆
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
Happy Birthday Peaches! **Big birthday hug** Have a very special day!
Happy Birthday d1! **Big birthday aloha** psst…don’t let Kekoa get anywhere near your cake or you going have frosting all ovah.
Happy Birthday Bill Stutzman! **Big birthday shaka** Best wishes! Glad to have you on our sideline.
mih ~ Yep! He does secure our spot…BG has done many more good deeds for the fans of this blog than he cares to take credit for.
I have to disagree with you wf2. BG is neither “cantakerous” nor any of the other things you describe him of being.
I and others of this blog, take the time to really get to know each other in the real world. Maybe if you joined us at one of our gatherings you’d get to know us better. There have been several posters who’ve extended an invitation…so who’s being cantakerous?
Oh yeah…
happy happy HAPPY Birthday … peaches… d1… and bill… !!! and to anyone else who’s reading and celebrating a birthday today… may you enjoy a memorable day… and a fabulous year in the making!
WAC Tournament will be the last UH contest of the school year…and then, our warrior boyz will begin their 8-week training cycle at Cooke (for those that stay home) and the skill guyz can be seen during “voluntary” passing drills, prolly in the pm.
I will be monitoring the summer-cycle and will spend several weeks on the continent attending several PGA Ts (Bethpage and Warrick Hills). As in Ponte Vedra (gators) I usually visit D!A programs nearby so Im looking at College Station and A2.
Michigan has one of the best strength and conditioning programs in college football.
Mike Barwis is in his second season as the director of strength and conditioning with the Michigan football program. He oversees a staff that includes six full-time assistants, two part-time assistant and multiple interns.
Rich Rodrigues brought Mike to A2 as part of the deal and immediately asked for millions in improvements for the weight room to add to the $300 m face-lift in progress for the football factory. Funds were released immediately to meet Barwis specs.
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?id=3293269
Barwis worked at West Virginia University for 14 years and coordinated every facet of the department’s athletic sports conditioning program during that time. He spent five years as the strength and conditioning coach for the Mountaineers’ football program (2003-07) and seven seasons for the men’s basketball program (2001-07). Barwis also worked with Olympic athletes in 18 different sports during his tenure and was the school’s director of strength and conditioning for varsity sports prior to his appointment with the football and basketball teams.
Barwis has coached 22 National Strength and Conditioning (NSCA) All-Americans since 1999, and was one of 10 coaches to receive the 2002 Bronze Award from the NSCA certification commission. He has trained college All-American, professional, Olympic, national and international competitors and medalists in wrestling, track and field, cross country, soccer, football, basketball, baseball, motor cross, cycling, boxing, ice hockey, tennis, swimming and diving, gymnastics, crew, bodybuilding and and rifle during his career. In addition, Barwis has been published in numerous journals, magazines and newspapers.
A Philadelphia, Pa., native, Barwis earned his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology from West Virginia University in 1996 and his master’s degree in athletic coaching with an emphasis in strength and conditioning in 1998. He also completed course work in the area of anatomy and physiology at Temple University, and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the NSCA.
Is former USC coach Mark Trakh one of the four finalists for the womens basketball job??
Good morning Tsaikos….
Happy Birthday d1, peaches, and Bill Stutz….many, many more
happy birthday d1! what you off today?
happy birthday peaches! i hope somebody didn’t drop the ball this year, again.
happy birthday bill! i assume it is bill, mr. stutzmann and pops to craig and billy ray.
(has it been a year already?)
So are there anymore fb players coming in for summer session 1?
cantakerous?
bg? no way.
retired? semi, considering his separation of service from the armed forces after a long illustrious career. however, not fully retired as he is too young to receive social security benefits.
but, you got the wrong guy description of one of our finest.
he may be one of the finest men to walk this earth.
kekoa, aloha brah.
mahalo for the invite….raincheck.
Ill be in contact w u sometime this summer for a get-together at a venue near Kaupo Village (baby maks).
I didnt say anything about BG that he didnt hasten to declare himself. He was the kibitzer, not I.
Further, I didnt call him anti-social I said he was grumpy (cantankerous). How else can you describe a person who declares that detail, logic and reason are wasteful exercises?
The guy is totally off-the wall!
Im not bothered at all, lol, but i do have opinion of character.
WOAH!!! Looks like Da Crusaders are representing da birthday folk today! 😯
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO D1SHIMA, PEACHES, AND MISTAH BILLY RAY STUTZMANN!!!
al, u have every right to chose your friends as I have to speak my mind and respond in kind.
No disrespect intended to any of BG’s friends…im just dealing with the epithets tossed in my front yard. pax.
Happy Birthday…D1…Peaches…and Billy!!
Have a great day and many, many more!
Bill is Billy Ray’s Dad.
WWE vs NBA
wf2….no harm intended. one day you come out, talk story, it will all make sense in the end. the common bond of course is sports, in particular, university of hawaii sports that is why we gather round to this site.
I hope doey is celebrating another birthday….
Well, it seems like those caissons will be rolling into Aloha Stadium with some regularity…
BG will be happy…
Whoops. Wrong Stutz? But have a very Happy Birthday!
ST…lucking thing you are short….although there’s nothing wrong with that because short people are needed in this world…LOL
oops…lucking=lucky
Howzit gang! Sheezzzz…feel like I neva come hea’ long time….
Hello…how you…..
JJ: And what purpose do these “short” people have in our world???
Just wanna hear YOUR opinion…..;-)
BTW:
Happy Birthday d1, Peaches, and Billy!!
Q for Rocky:
Your thoughts on the new guys?
To WF2-
I really enjoy reading your informative posts, as you do the research that i do not have the time or patience to do myself. For that i thank you! Your opinion of BG will change once you meet him- good guy. The first time i met a lot of these guys face-to-face was at last year’s Tsaiko Anniversary party. Al apologized to me for saying on the blog that i didn’t actually exist (although i knew it was all in fun of course), and i had to literally run away from Mrs. Bulla’s jager shots! Also, i scored some guri-guri and portuguese sausage from Whitey and Duffer in the door prize give-aways. You’ll see what i mean when you make it to an event or two. And by the way, the only cantankerous one is Kazz… after a UH loss!
So is Mark Trakh a finalist for the women’s head coach job?
Anyone? ANYONE? ……….Bueller?
jack flash…..really doesn’t exist.
peaches….take advantage of this day. i am sure he won’t screw up two years in a row.
i hope lacount will make his final two years count. one can never regain eligibility, thus, make the most of it while you can and when you can.
eh, i always say………..nobody plans to fail, they just fail to plan.
Big C…you guys make it easier to get things out of the cabinets under the kitchen counters….MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA..along with some other things that I can’t mention here…MWAHAHAHAHAHA
🙄
As Brie will put it “there are no short people…they are fun sized!”
ST…
Nevermind what (Jesse)James, just said..from one short person to another…You might be short but there’s more than enough of you to go ’round… wait.. that didn’t come out right … lemme re-phrase that..
ermm…ah.. umn…
nevermind
A-house,
Well it’s not the Scarlet Knights in Piscataway but the Black Knights in West Point. Sounds like a great trip anyway!
http://www.hawaiiathletics.com/news/2009/5/19/FB_0519090401.aspx
Jack Flash…
Kazz is cantankerous before every game too. In a good way! Just don’t hold up traffic in front of him come game day. (cringe)
WF2-
Yah. What my esteemed co-blogger, Jack Flash wrote. All of that. I agree. And like JF, I enjoy your exacting assessments even if I may not always agree.
And BG is a good bruddah to have. You’ll see when you meet the group.
Keep on posting, we need analytical folks like yourself here. 😉
Happy Birthday Peaches, D1, Bill Stutzmann and anyone else out there whose birthday is today.
WF2 ~ Agreed. I’ll keep my powder dry until the summer get together. (A-Sports knows how I luv to make things go boom!)
Meanwhile keep posting the stats and schedules we are sometimes to busy (or lazy) to dig out ourselves.
question for Rocky, Who do you see as taking on the leadership roles on defense now that Adam and Sol are gone?
JJ: Who you callin’ short?? Geoffrey……(ToysRus)……..
I know at least ONE other person that is shorter than I……
mih: Buwahahahaha!!!
Wow, 2010 season opens up:
9/4 USC
9/11 @ Army
9/18 @ Colorado
9/25 UNLV
Is Chauncey Makaniai still a Warrior recruit? I noticed on the weekend that he won first place in both discus and shot in the State HS track and field meet. Power and athleticism. Nice.
Trojans
Black Knights
Buffaloes
Rebels
Rocky-
How is the arm feeling? I know that if your healthy you’ll be a terror up front. Nice to have you on the team.
i’m glad we got army on our schedule for 4 years…I hope we continue to schedule Navy and add the air force in the future
Looking forward to the game at West Point!! I guess we’ll have to do the West Point, stopover in LV during the week, then up to Colorado trip next year. Who’s in??
Ralph,
Just need to get somebody with UH ties to coach the Fly Boys! 🙂
Rocky,
Aloha braddah. Good to see you back on the field again this past spring. I was wondering what exactly is the attitude of the defensive line this season as there are a lot of new, but talented people on board?
Mahalo!
Let’s be clear about this. I am not “grumpy” after a loss… I’m… Well.. Yeah ok fine… 😛
Hmm…all this talk about short people, grumpy people.
What about the rest of the Dwarfs? 😆
D1: Happy birthday!!!!
Rocky…how is the arm doing? What have you been doing to strengthen it? Do you see it as being any hindrance to you during the upcoming season?? and I echo the words of some of my fellow Tsaikos…who do you see as the leaders on defense this year?? and that I’m glad you are back and will be able to contribute greatly towards this year’s accomplishments…
Al- you are killing me. Hopefully i don’t disappear!
Thanks again for all the b-day greetings! 🙂
Gotta go meeting now…..
🙄
Scheduling Army is GREAT for UH! Great job by JD! Playing the service academies is great for attendance, for national attention, and for all those in the military in Hawaii. Even more important, the service academies do not need to worry about the travel expense to Hawaii, which helps with the scheduling.
Greg Camarillo is still recovering from offseason surgery so Bess is going to be practicing with the *first team* for quite some time at Miami!
Jim Donovan- great job scheduling Army! Keep ’em coming…
Miami wants to use Bess as their slot receiver, but they will have to use him at starting WR if Camarillo is out and the rookies cannot beat out Bess. If I remember correctly, Bess had more than double the catches per game when he was a starting WR instead of the slot receiver…and Bess’ contract is up after this season so it would be great for him to have more catches.
It appears that Camarillo won’t even have his confidence back for training camp, which means that if Bess does well in OTAs and training camp that he’ll have a shot at the starting WR job…which would mean a LOT more money after the season.
Four years with Army on the schedule really helps fill the pukas…
Castillo signs 6 in women golf….Sweden, Alaska, Canada, Virginia and 2 from Hawaii….they are all tournament tested but their game score average was not posted… I hope they all shoot at least in the 70’s cuz i’ve seen scores in the tournament 5 some where UH is back by about 100 strokes to the quality teams…
maybe Stretch, Duffer and Layson can shed some light on collegiate golf…we got lots of youth talent in Hawaii that go on to do very well on the mainland and our courses are one of the best in the world…question is, which 5 or 7 courses were the golfers using in Hawaii courtesy of the golf courses…
since we have women golf, swimming, diving, and water polo, I can’t see why we can’t develop a top ten program…i’m sure each program receives the allowed number of NCAA scholarships like the other top collegiate teams, we have the coaches, so we just got to boost the recruiting budget and let the coaches bring in the best talent…
So many times we discussed the advantages of scheduling the Academy teams while HF was at UH and nothing seemed to get done…I’m glad that JD got this done and it is a good example of what he can do with scheduling. And getting four games at once shows how he’ll work for future schedules instead of throwing something together at the last minute like the guy before him.
http://hawaiiathletics.com/news/2009/5/19/FB_0519090401.aspx
Army should be interesting. I’d like to see Navy and Airforce here, too. Especially for all our service personnel that are stationed here.
we got navy this upcoming season but are they coming back in the future or is this a one shot home series?
Wow… first game is 9/11 in NY.. is that a disadvantage? Who’d wanna beat the stuffings out of ‘Army’ on 9/11 ? in New York?
Good morning.
Happy Birthday all…
Ralph – Water polo is top ten…
very observant mih!
But it’s all right. I’m Jumpin’ Jack Flash,
It’s a Gas! Gas! Gas!
…mick jagger circa 1968
i knew that the short jokes would bring out #140.
😯
Oh crap. I wonder how many people in New York still remember that Hawaii was voted as the LEAST patriotic state in the union by some CNN poll… I guess the sales of American flags in Hawaii around 09/11/01 weren’t up to par with states like Texas or… Texas… 🙄
Well many on that side of the country will view this game as some kind of “international clash” anyway.
yep Homey, knew that, the polo team has been very successful but they need to up their level one more notch cuz usc, ucla and stanford is one notch in recruiting above everyone else for the last few years…polo is like men vb, few quality teams, so an above average record gets you a ranking.
the Na Wahine Water Polo team finished 19-10 and I think they ended up 4th ranked after losing in the semi finals…
does women’s track n field offer scholarships?
if so, could kaufmann receive a scholie from that sport and free up a vb scholarship?
ralph, kaufmann is now ranked #1 in women’s high jump.
Al you having a cc for your hanai son?
Made,
We should make a drinking game out of that away Army game on 09/11.
We take a shot everytime someone in the crowd holds up a sign that says: “Is Hawaii even a state?”.
We’d be drunk during the pre-game show.
kazz…its no wonder because some folks in the “states” still think we live in grass shacks let alone drive horse driven buggies.
and quit being so cantankerous.
she jumped 6’4….the winner of last year’s NCAA outdoor meet jumped 6’5. so she’s up there with the best…I don’t know if the jumper graduated, if she did, Amber is the jumper to beat…
ralph….yup. still figuring out the particulars. it will be posted.
Nothing wrong with being #4.
What short jokes?
when Hittle played bb, she gave up her vb scholarship because bb is higher priority with NCAA. not sure which is higher, vb or track, or they could be on the same level..
Hi everyone! I’m helping moderate comments for today’s Warrior Beat show. I got all the questions already listed but we’re still taking more! Just list them on his blog and I’ll transfer them over to our site… Thanks!
Al my day off is wednesday
Kazz,
How would we know if everyone is drinking to play the game or not? I suspect that with some of the Tsaikos, being drunk during the pre-game show is already a game pre-requisite.
Rocky which recruits did you host this year and how many of them are coming to UH?
Homey..
Bob Hope one-liners.
Ralph,
You’re lucky. My off-day is everyday.
Make it on Friday.
mih artist never work, their joy is putting their feelings, emotions, & impressions on canvas and hope someone is willing to pay for it and pay enough to pay the rent… 🙂 🙂
mih – Tell some of them one liners…
Al,
I’m thinking that if it were Men’s Volleyball, the scholarship could come out of track and field.. but I’m not too sure about Women’s volleyball. It’s hard to say which would be classified as the more dominant sport. Interesting.
how about a sunday cc, everyone should be off….or wait the kid is devout christian….but god is forgiving if you miss church, not sure about the pastor who is looking at his collection box.
eh, Rock, stay healthy this season, best wishes for a fun and successful senior year.
Shauna needs more questions for Rocky…
ralph….#164 bad form. plus always spell it with a capital G.
Ralph…
It’s called ‘pray for pay.’ My wife spends each morning praying for a sale.. every time she heads off to one of the galleries that displays her works, same thing.
If she doesn’t get a sale on the 1st of the month. It’s best to pretend I have a lot of work to do outside.
Problem with being self-employed is that you wake up unemployed every morning until you make a sale.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to the incomparable D1, the “Sweetest” Peaches, and Bill (proud papa) Stutzmann!!!
Homey,
Hey Rocky, just wanted to say we attended the speed and quickness clinic the other month and you were just great with the kids in the weight room. Pls stay healthy + best wishes to you and the warriors this coming season. May you/the team accomplish every goal!
Ralph..
Which is why you never have a day-off… just off-days. 😉
shauna
question for rocky
i remember watching you when you wore that other green jersey for the na alii of aiea and was so ecstatic when you signed for the home team.
i pray that you will stay in good health this year. we have been looking forward to seeing you tearing it up at the aloha stadium. i am certain that once you get on the field you will be ripping it up.
i would like to know if a medical redshirt appeal is available to you and if so will you petition for it?
…and, when do you expect to graduate and what is your major?
Stretch ~ I like those travel plans! I’m in because of the LV and Colorado connection for Diana. Count us in for now. Pops will make the game day choice *dicey.*
Ralph: Thanks! 😀
Let’s get this show started…
how long has Kainoa been out of football, seems like at least two seasons ago he completed his JC season. Wasn’t he suppose to be on our last team in ’08.
So where’s the short jokes?
al,
I’ll be in Oahu the first week in June, from the 3rd if get one cc for the other kid (not DPK).
Ralph
I think last year’s high jump champ was Destinee Hooker, also a VB player for Texas. Yes, she’s back this year. Not sure, but I think she’s like 6’3″ and an amazingly athletic OH.
Hi Everybody –
When I was first introduced to this blog, seeing names regularly like “Bulla”, “Wreck”, “Kekoa”, “Homey”, “Kazz”, “BG”, “Al”, “Jack Flash”, “D1”, “Garret”, “Stretch”, “Jason” and many, many more, and reading their posted contributions to the blog was informative and intriguing. I tried to imagine what these individuals looked like and also what kind of personalities they possessed. I admit that I was skeptical about some of them at first. It was fortunate for me that I decided that, yes, I wanted to meet them personally at cc’s, kk’s and T-gates. That, my friends, is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Perhaps if we keep the deep devotion and love of UH Warrior Football as one of the foundations upon which lifetime friendships can be formed, I can personally assure you that the character/personalities of the above-named Tsaikos (and also of those I left out but you know who you are)will open your eyes and deepen your understanding of how so many diverse individuals can become such close and treasured friends…should you choose to meet/talk with them face to face. Accept the invite to “come out and play”… it will change your life for the better!
Funny, I always thought that 4 years of Army on your schedule meant digging plenny pukas!
Hi Mrs. A-house! 🙂
Get those travel plans going for 2010!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS TO:
D1 – One of the first dear Tsaiko friends I made at the UNLV game in 2007.
Peaches – One of the lovely Tsaikettes with the sweetest personality and disposition. SteveM, you’re a lucky guy.
Bill Stutzmann – What else but can I say but MAHALO! to “da man” who helped produce two very fine athletes/gentlemen, Craig and Billy Ray.
Jason – Belated birthday greetings/good wishes. For a guy who loves to eat, was it a plus or minus that your birthday fell on your graduation day = ONE big celebration when it could have been TWO?
Running out of questions soon. Anyone got a couple more for Rocky?? If not, Stephen and Leila gotta wing it! 😉
D1 –
I am rubbing my eyes with glee! Are you “inviting me along” as your guest … or does A-House have to pay my way? BTW, where are we going anyway?
Mrs. A-House…
Knowing Jason…
He probably opened all his presents on Graduation day… then when he woke up the next morning.. he turned them over and opened ’em all over again! As for his birthday cake? He stuck a mirror right down the center of his graduation cake and ate one side on Graduation day, then the other on his birthday.
Happy Birthday D1Shima and Peaches and Bill Stutzmann and many more to come!
Mrs. A-house,
Alas! My travel card is already filled but I’m sure A-house will “take care” 😉
I’m sure it will be a very proud moment for Mr. A-house to be present when the Warriors take the field against the Cadets.
Thanks LTUHF.
Hope you are doing well nowadays. Miss your anecdotes!
homey and ralph don’t go to disneyland anymore…..they can’t get on half of the rides and that silly teacups makes them barf up all the churros they ate.
homey and ralph go to mcdonald’s for lunch.
they approach the ordering counter…after an hour passes, finally, homey climbs up on ralph’s shoulders and asks, “when is someone gonna take our order.?”
hey, i am sorry. i just made them up. took me a few minutes to get the punchline right. it could have taken longer, thank goodness i don’t have short term memory like ralph and homey.
rocky….i am impressed!
good luck rocky, go get ’em
rocky,
how deep is the d line this coming season?
Great to hear we’ll be playing the service academies again…they should be a draw for the crowds…at least at home games….
al
“short” term memory…LOL
Kekoa, DPK, MIH, al, Jack Flash, Jay, and others….mahalo for the support. I love how this blog can support without a corresponding personal attack as can often be seen elsewhere. The people that know me also know that I don’t indulge or condone personal attacks. If anyone would like to, go back to last night’s blog…around 7:15pm and follow the thread. There are no disparaging remarks or name calling on my part. That would be a waste of precious time on the blog.
There are few places that are as tolerant as this blog when it comes to genders (all 3), ages, races, locations, social strata, and interests. It doesn’t matter much what my views are as the WB doesn’t revolve around me. It DOES matter what a certain short host wants. I understand that he wants tolerance and a blog that has a place for (almost) everyone. However, I don’t think he requires everyone to read or respond to every post. I prefer to exercise that freedom.
bg…you da man.
bulla…..rocky left the building sometime ago.
you just experienced a “whaaapaaa!” moment.
duffer…hey i’ll be in maui that week.
Winning:
What is the magic formula?
TALENTED PLAYERS with a wanting to win attitude and not wanting to lose and all the other necessary things that one needs to do.
When time to compete have the attitude that I will play to win cause I hate to lose and play with all your emotion. Just don’t show up.
The players who don’t play to be the best supportive teammate. (Check out the benches and you see a majority of them not cheering on their teammates.) Why they don’t cheer is probably because they believe they should be playing.
Coaches putting their talent together to bring about the best team possible that will increase the chances of winning.
In summary although this is a topic than can cover a 1000 page book, a team needs talented players and a coach to bring this talent together to win.
Hawaii may have the coaches at times but never enough talent on a team to be a top contender year in year out.
Give most of the UH coaches the talent of every champion in any college sport the past 12 months and I am sure the result would be at least 80% of them taking the top honors too. You know the 80/20 rule.
homey…ask Big C to tell you some of them….besides you are being paged on the pink side….by Big C et al….LMAO
Stretch & Kekoa:
I am thinking travel plans for the 9/11/2010 game at West Point (never liked them ring knockers) should include a visit to Foxwoods and the other big casino in Connecticut before flying to Vegas or other points before going to Denver, Colorado for the 9/18/10 game.
dang, it looks very much like 2009 with Wazzu and UNLV.
Boy, the opening of the 2010 season is looking pretty rough…USC here…then Colorado at home and Army at home….whew….
al – Don’t tell me that was your attempt at a couple of jokes…aiyah.
Army is a powerhouse?
homey,
I agree….
al,
those came up a little short.
heheheh
homey…didn’t say that…but two on the road…one far east and the other against a Big 12 opponent…..
I always have to respect those service academy guys though…the play for the love of the game…most won’t get an NFL shot….but all (okay most) will serve our country…
Happy birthday to d1shima, Peaches, and Mr. Stutzmann!
Hey, I never got any cake for my birthday. That reminds me of the time I wanted an ice cream cake for my birthday as a kid. Never got it. No wonder I promised my oldest niece I’d get her one for her next birthday … 😀
It’s great to hear that we have a deal with Army. And like many others have said, I hope there comes a time when we get a service academy every year on our schedule.
And that’s pretty impressive of Royce Pollard to jump over Stephen. Now, let’s see Brett Symonds jump over homey …
Army is a powerhouse?
Jason you stand still and I’ll try and jump over you. You’re a graduate now so don’t cry if you so happen to get knocked down by my 1 inch vertical…BWAHAHAHA
There you go, mixing up your inches and your centimeters again …
Nope, I know my inches…all men do.
Hi Mrs. A-House…
or in my case homey…feet….LMAO
(J)J – hahaha! I heard you gotta use that ped egg to get rid of the dead skin…
(Jesse)
homey…nah, just use sand paper…cheaper..
(j)j….yup. makes you wonder who made the schedule?

My condolences to the Laeli family at this difficult time.
Condolences to Fale Laeli and his Ohana.
Condolences and prayers to Fale Laeli and his Ohana.
our thoughts and prayers in this moment of fond aloha to mrs. laeli.
that last photo….well, thats a lot of aloha (shirt that is).
al,
I’m just impressed at the wide angle capacity of ST’s little camera.
mih – #222 – is Blaze a senior this year?
jm2375…
UH has him down as a Junior. Maybe they’re counting on a medical redshirt for last year.
Oh yeah.. and I stuck Chris Black on the wrong end of the field. He should be in the Defense roster.
Except for a couple of slotbacks…it looks like our entire 1st team Offense might graduate next year. Hope they get to rotate in a lot of the second and third team players this season or USC will be on heck of a long game.
Fale Laeli – we send our deepest condolences to you and your entire family for the loss of your Mom.
ralph,
you are right, lots of hawaii talent doing well on the mainland , stephanie kono of ucla comes to mind. in fact after round 1 of ncaa womens champ., britney choy of new mexico and stephanie kono of ucla are t7 after round 1 of ncaa womens champ. shooting 1 over 73’s. amanda wilson of arizona is t38. regarding the 7 courses, ask st, he could know which courses.
my deepest condolences to Fale Laeli and his ohana on the passing of their beloved mother…
condolences to laeli family.
My condolensces to the Laeli family.
Prayers for the Laeli Ohana…
anyone a Clippers fan, they got the lottery number one pick
Layson do you know anything about the Hawaii golf recruits-Kaili Britons of Kam school and Summer Galon-Mizusawa of Hilo…Hilo and Waiakea always had good junior golfers…I hope they can shoot consistently in the low 70’s or better…UH finished in the bottom half in the WAC again….it is time to move on up
let’s go nuggets!
nuggets up by 8, end of 1st
Hmm… I wonder where the Nuggets and the Lakers are going to play come next Monday??? Are they legally going to have a venue in Denver? 😆
Ralph,
Here’s a link for the scores of the girls State……

Like any sport I guess, most of the good ones go away….
Condolences to Fale Laeli and his family….God Bless and keep you and your ohana at this difficult time.
just spoke with nick rolovich soliciting my renewal to warrior fb
“Kobe Bryant guarded by Anthony Carter” 🙂
Go AC!
i mentioned that the WB blog has some interesting posts regarding UH marketing and publicity of sporting events-there is a lack of awareness of upcoming events because there isn’t a lot of marketing. Those who follow the sport no problem, its the others they got to reach and only thru better marketing will they fill the arena or stadium.
ralph, results of 2009 girls state golf champ. shows summer mizusawa-waiakea finished 10th place with 82-78 and kaili britos-kamehameha-oahu finished t17 place with 83-85.
http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/assets/gif/M113435557.GIF
I asked him to post on the WB, give us some tidbits, he doesn’t have to remain on the blog to answer questions, just give us info on the progress of the team esp. the qbs. He said he’ll run it by coach Mac if its okay.
Ralph,
Good job!
I bet Rolo was dying to break the monotony of getting thru his list of names by getting an earfull from you! 😆
I said we want to know more about Nielson and Graves, the new guys coming in. How is Alexander progressing…basic stuff that he can pass on to us on the blog with short notes. Doesn’t have to be a daily thing. I wonder if this will conflict with ST being the first to post info… 🙂
Howzit Everybody,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Fale Laeli’s mom. May god be with Fale and his family in this time of lost. Prayers for Fale and his family.
Warmest Aloha and deepest sympathy to Fale and his ‘ohana.
D1 all 21 minutes worth of tsaiko knowledge 🙂 🙂
kama krab,
Good to see you back posting frequently.
Wish the same could be said for Wreck….
(shred shred shred)
….the sound from Rolo’s desk after hanging up with Ralph 😆 😈 😆
I also mentioned that twitter is available and that Tsai and June Jones twits.
That’s not nice calling them twits. haha…joke only guys.
Condolences to Fale Laeli and his family.
Lakers by 1 at half…..Billups got to start knocking down some shots from the outside…
Condolences to Fale Laeli and his family.
Eh,
D1, I try when get time, but I trying to get Wreck back on the boat. Just been kind of busy for him lately. For me though, it’s good to be able to be back on the blog on a more regular basis. I will check everybody lataz. Gotta go to school now to get my ejucation. LOL
HA to lose 15 more workers, primarily pressmen….
Mr. & Mrs. A-House ~ We will prolly spend more time at Foxwood & Atlantic City than the Point. I’ve already requested that the tour of the Academy should also include a lunch with Coach Ellerson. (I told them we had a *BG* traveling with us!). Heheheheh!
Kekoa,
Oy vey! 🙄
West Point is known for supplying Engineers of all types to the active Army. Maybe Stretch could impress them with his Engineering skills. Especially if we can utilize them to steal their most prized possession before the game. Mrs. A-House would be our killer distractionist for the mission!
I’m afraid to ask where to hide the damn thing because of da kine answers I would get from Homes!
Ralph:
We don’t twit. We tweet.
A twit is a nerd.
So we’re twits who tweet.
Happy birthday to D1, Peaches and Bill!!
May you all have the best birthday money can’t buy. I don’t know why I said that. I think it’s because I’m tired after I just shopped.
learn something everyday on this blog
AC is in the game
how tall are you stephen?
did he like leap frog you? or do an amber kaufman high jump?
do we tweet the twits?
or tweet tweets?
carter on Kobe, giving up 5 inches
Al,
Mahalo for da “prayers”. My prayers have been answered. I get my weekends and holidays back starting in June!
(Oh man… there is no HTML smiley code for someone crying in joy….)
Ole’ AC ain’t giving up anything on “heart” though!
As UH fans, we may be biased but the facts are there. AC Carter’s intangibles can put him on par with ANYONE in the NBA.
ST,
Have you possibly heard about how much UH had to “front” to the WAC to host the baseball tournament?
Man, if ticket sales aren’t good, UH is gonna “eat it”. 🙁
Happy birthday to d1, Peaches and Bill!
I am glad to see the schedule being filled by the Army.
But, I thought JD said he was not interested in going back East? Or was that no more games out there if they did not reciprocate? Heck, it does not matter.
Army! Whoo-hoo!!!
Condolences to the Laeli family on their loss. Prayers and thoughts to them.
And, to Zohn who is dealing with cancer.
kazz……dey u go!
You should have released this post long ago. Can’s wait for the next one.
Kekoa:
We, the entire A-House family is ready for Atlantic City and Foxwoods!!
BTW, where does Army play its “home game”? For that matter, where the hell is West Point located? Can you tell that this OCS grad don’t care for “ring knockers”?
I walk into my new assignment as XO and 3 days later my Company CO says “Gil, write up an Army Commendation award for the 1st Sgt”. He was there for nearly 6 months and valedictorian of his graduating class!! Damn, little squirt!!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPSSSSSSSS – can tell by the words and spelling that A-House wrote the post!!!

HEY BREW808!
Let’s try to go over 300!
Bowling? Golf? SAT’s? credit score? 😀 🙄 😆
So…. Foxwoods is closer than AC to West Point? 🙄
….I was counting on LaCount! I’m glad that Kainoa is taking care of business (grades and school work). Two years to play 2, may still work – but get the degree and make the contacts! Like Rocky said in today’s Wai/Tsai Show – take advantage of being a Warrior player, a local “hero”, and a college education. 😀
I know Diogenes is just waiting to pounce on….
A-House Ohana ~ So sorry, out to dinner with my main squeeze. I’ll give you a shout later with the details.
I know many of you have commented on the Warrior football schedule for next year. Let me spin it slightly differently….
Consider the tail-end of 2009 FOLLOWED BY the 2010 line-up and you get:
11/28/09………….NAVY
12/05/09………….WISCONSIN
Dec09/Jan10……Bowl Game?
09/04/10………….USC
09/11/10………….@ Army
09/18/10………….@ Colorado
😯 😀 😯
I would make fun of #300 and the “main squeeze”….. but I will refrain…. 🙄 😆 😳
I think I will use the W/L record for those six games (See #301) as a measure of the overall health and success of the UH Football program. 3-3 is good, 4-2 is where I hope they are, and anything better is all gravy with whip cream and sprinkles…. 😀 😯 😆
What do you think? 🙄
Okay…. got to check in back on campus. We’re back to running 24/7, or trying to…. 🙄
Brew ~ My ‘main squeeze’ is old school Tita. She could pound you into next Tuesday with one swing. Good thing you decided to hold your tongue, because she will be in the bay area next month…she would track you down!
Would you be traveling to the West Point game?
wafan,
If I remember correctly, JD did not say that UH wouldn’t play any team back East. I think he said that UH wouldn’t play highly ranked teams back East.
Pisa is going to be visiting with the Bears tomorrow–his old coaches with the Rams are there. It is important to note that the Chicago D *wants* undersized, mobile LBs.
If Chicago doesn’t give Pisa the offer he’s looking for, it looks like Pisa’s next visit will be to the Eagles.
The California ballot measures did not pass today, which means that SDSU, SJSU, and all the public Universities in California will be getting *big* budget cuts very soon. This will have a direct impact on their Athletic Departments, and SDSU was already hurting for money before this. The California State University system looks to have a $410 million cut in funding…ouch!
Great episode of The Warrior Beat Show today.
Best of luck to Rocky Savaiigaea, a terrific guest and a good choice for spokesperson.

My cousin Gil Furtado lives across the Hudson from the Point, so we will prolly be Headquartered there and recon the Donald’s Casino on an overnighter. Same as conducting raids on the Indian gaming huts at Foxwood.
I am serious about trying to get some face time with Coach Ellerson before the game. Cousin Gil is a retired Foreign Service guy, he might be able to pull some strings. You’ll enjoy meeting his wife. She is a human dynamo, much like Mrs. A-House!
I’ll check on tailgate plans and get something locked in that will be in a central location close to the Stadium. We’ve got plenny time to plan.

Met some fine people from Argentina and Uruguay tonight. They are visiting the island on a Group Study Exchange through Rotary International- at the same time, a group from Hawaii is in their district learning about how people in different countries pursue their professions. Another small step towards international understanding.
Спасибо, пост действительно толково написан и по делу, есть что почерпнуть.

Breakthrough or Burst.
It’s that time of the WAC baseball season–the time when bubbles burst. So, can our bowboyz pick it up one more time…or have they run out of gas?
“This has been a roller coaster season for this team” explained a befuddled Jim Leahey, Hawaii’s play-by-play voice for over 25 years.
Pal Eldridge offered, “Maybe they need to take a day off, go to the beach and just relax together”.
After another embarrassing loss Sunday to a team 18 games below .500, Mike Trapasso darted-out of the dugout carefully searching for eye contact with the umpires and flashed hasty-shaka signs that were lowered below his belt, to each member of the crew, trying hard to disquise the anquish on his face. You could see the pain.
You got to feel for our coaches–they have brought their team to near cresendo, only to see them collapse before their very eyes. In a jam-packed house that Les build.
Against a team they will face again Thursday @ 7pm.
This is one season where our destiny has to be found by our players. We all know they can do it, cuz they have–31 times….and hit over 61 HRs in route, more than any other Rainbow team in its program history.
Reach down guyz and reach deep.
Its yours to breakthrough or burst!

Changing the tax rules for college sports could really make things difficult, especially since almost every school is losing money already.
Kind of funny that Notre Dame “accidentally” left out the losing seasons from Charlie Weis’ bio.
I’ve been discussing for some time about how SDSU could be left with no D-IA football stadium available to play in and that could be a factor in them dropping football. Now, the news is out about how their stadium lease includes a clause where the city of San Diego can evict SDSU from the stadium if/when the Chargers leave San Diego.
Happy belated birthday d1島, Peaches, Bill Stutzmann, Jason, my former boss Jeff, and anyone else I missed.

Please help Nathaniel Nasca by emailing or contacting NCAA Compliance Office in granting him his 6th year of eligibility. He’s an awesome football player and an asset to the Warriors!
Had the opportunity to visit West Point this year and boy is that campus beautiful. The facilities are top notch. Campus is out in the boonies but it’s nice. It’s about a n hours drive from downtown NYC. However, your best bet is to stay in Newark, NJ, and it’s about a 90 minute ride to West Point. Just take the Garden State Freeway (toll road) in New Jersey and it’ll merge with the New York State freeway. You’ll then go through this huge state park, Bear Mountain, and it leads you right into West Point. Made the trip on successive days and had no problems.
A-House Ohana ~ So sorry, out to dinner with my main squeeze. I’ll give you a shout later with the details.
