Warriors receive commitment from LB
One of the top high school football players in American Samoa has accepted a scholarship offer from the University of Hawaii football team.
Penei Stowers-Pavihi, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound linebacker from Tafuna High, told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he will put his commitment in writing on Feb. 1, the first day 2017 prospects may sign national letters of intent.
By pledging to UH, Stowers-Pavihi is turning down offers from Washington State and Oregon State.
Stowers-Pavihi has been his team’s captain and most valuable player for defense every season since his freshman year. He recently was named the defensive MVP for the champion game.
UH defensive line coach Legi Suiaunoa was the point recruiter. Suiaunoa’s wife, Rose, and Stowers-Pavihi’s mother, Caroline, are close friends.
“Rose was like a daughter to me,” Caroline Stowers-Pavihi said.
Penei Stowers-Pavihi’s childhood friend is UH linebacker Jeremiah Pritchard.
When Stowers-Pavihi was in the eighth grade, he reached a deal with his father in which he would be allowed to grow his hair if he maintained good grades. Since then, Stowers-Pavihi has had only A’s and B’s. His hair is to his waist.
Need tago next

Wow, commitments every day. Keep it coming.
AWESOME … KEEP ‘EM COMING and sign ’em up
Thus far … 1 DB/LB … 1 CB … 1 LB …
I hope LB is for Linebacker and not “Left Behind” like a
certain DB whose #21 I shall not mention … I say “Left
Behind” as he’s always “Left Behind” the player he’s supposed
to be defending …
LIVE ALOHA / PLAY WARRIOR / DEFEND THE ROCK … GO ‘BOWS !!!!!
neighborhood news –
San Jose State: Oregon State outside receivers coach Brent Brennan
named head coach.
Brent Brennan was on the Hawaii staff on 1998, oh and is Colt’s uncle
Jaime Tago left Hawaii for greener pastures. He is comitted to Kansas over the summer then had a great JC season. Despite the verbal to KU, he received a home visit from Arkansas coaches over the weekend. Chance of coming back to Hawaii??????
Coach Rolo! Keep the commits rolling in. About time Hawaii is getting the players from American Samoa. Thank you coach Legi Suiaunoa … and wife Rose !!! Team Hawaii !!!
Tago tripped Hawaii this past weekend. Hoping he will recommit.
Tripping THIS weekend.
my oh my — being watching UH football as a student and after returning from military service that my short and long term memory leaves me wondering
Maddog50 is correct – I need to go to a resource rather than trying to count on my memory of who played when — didn’t know you were here “70-73 — yep, you had many excellent team-mates and do remember that Jeris White got beat on his very first defense as a “corner” for a TD — and, that was the only time — after a while, opponents stayed away from his side of the field — and Stringert was no slouch either on the other side
this is a reason why I liked to see the UH media guide — got all the past info on who played and when — but technology moves on and leaves certain people behind
large, dark thunder clouds starting to form beyond the Koolaus along the “windward side”
mentioning a recruit will cause “bachi”?
Pains my heater to have people name names or innuendo regarding a play or numerous plays where someone fell a little short. In my opinion #21 is a flat out gamer who has shown up a lot more often than been shown up. Football fans are like Churchgoers-many attend few understand-no mean to start a fight. I would take 10 Damian’s on my team! GoWarriors!!!

Meant heart-long day
Yes, stop telling (other schools) about him. If there’s any news Tsai will report it, otherwise he is supposed to be here in January.

Brent Brennan was on the Hawaii staff on 1998, oh and is Colt’s uncle.
Maybe Colt will be on his staff at San Jose.
Great get – he reminds of Pisa or David.
GO WARRIORS!!!
Maddog50 #14: I feel your pain (and anger). No real need to single out student-athletes for criticism on a public forum. “Live aloha” … try it.
I hope it’s not true, but can anyone confirm that Kavapalu has moved to Provo?
BigWave:
He didn’t leave for greener pastures. He was booted by the Upper Campus despite appeals. Hopefully, he can make his way back. He’s a very good player.
Wonder if Penei is related to former Iolani running back Raynold Stowers, who went on to play at Utah for a guy named Urban Meyer?
I agree with Maddog and Clyde. Too easy to point fingers.
#8 “BigWaveDave” … I believe their cousins
Nice. LB corp getting stronger. Now we just need some DL who can take on the double block and some speed.
star advertiser article says he’s a blue chip recruit. He’s unrated in espn and any other major recruiting lists. Hopefully he pans out.
Yeah gotta agree #21 was horrible this year absolutely horrible but he must of been the best we had or he wouldn’t have been out there. He also made some nice plays too. For me, if you try your best, and work your hardest, that’s all we can ask. Too many of these critics never put on pads before, never been faked out or cracked blindside. Never had the wind knocked out of them, never been pancaked and put on your butt, or maybe never even been in a fight in their lives. Maybe you ain’t the best player, but if you playing for us, and you trying your best, hey, that’s good enough for me.
This has nothing to do with football, but here goes. I watched the news on KITV which featured prominently the 75th anniversary of the Pearl Harbor attack. There was an excerpt from the speech of a featured dignitary. It was a veiled jab at the players who have chosen to not stand during the playing of our national anthem. I thought it was appropriate and timely as the anniversary served as a reminder of the huge sacrifices a generation made for us to enjoy our freedom today. True a part of that freedom gives those a right to disrespect a symbol of those sacrifices, the national anthem. But maybe that generation could take a huge step back to better understand the cost of the freedoms they enjoy and be respectful to those who made that disrespect possible.
The closing credits and theme of KITV are the best.
#20,
Re.: #14, Who is maddog50 singling out an criticizing? Of all the post during the past 4 years during the Chow years, it seems he was the most positive. Since he is a former player, I don’t think he would be critical of any player because he was there as a player. His post seems to be praising #21. Sorry, but I didn’t see any criticism of any player from Maddog50. Just saying. Yes, Live Aloha! Peace!
808: Maddog50 was not criticizing a player. He was responding to post #6, and so was I.
Keep the recruits coming. Go Warriors
Great Evening All!
Welcome all new Warriors!
Two wr commits should be counted for 2017. Drake Stalworth out of Folsom, CA and Isaia Mullen out of Portland, OR
