Meet the couch potato
Thanks for stopping by.
This might not look like much now, but once this place is fixed up, we hope it serves as a
meeting place to discuss all things that are University of Hawai’i sports.
There will be updates, behind-the-scenes stories of UH figures and the people who cover them
and guest contributors. If I can figure out the equipment — and that’s an “if,” considering my
VCR still blinks “12:00 … 12:00 …: — we’ll post sound bites and videos.
This will be your blog, too, so please send suggestions, questions and gripes. I’ll try to find the
answers. I might be a couch potato, but I’ve got a press pass, a fat Rolodex and a thick skin
(mostly around the mid-section).

Congratulations ST for your blog’s 10th year. Mahalo for allowing us fans to get some interesting information and perspectives over the years. Na Alii Pride you must have gone to Aiea High.
You gef um, Hawaiian! Proud of you! A good good braddah to receive such a noble gift.
Fear God – mahalo for saying I am a worthy winner. I can think of many worthy winners. To be sure, I would not accept that ring if I thought the “fix” was in. 😉
Since my name was selected as the winner, I only feel that I am the one who has possession of that ring – for now.
That ring will forever belong to the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors Football team and to the state of Hawai’i, especially to every player who played on that year’s team. For a moment in time, thanks to Coach Jones and the Warriors, Hawai’i was transformed – uplifted, united and full of good cheer – a kind of joy I have never seen before or since.
I dedicate the ring to this year’s Warriors and to Coach Rolovich and the rest of the coaching staff. Everything I have seen thus far tells me that great days are ahead for the Warriors and their fans.
Here’s wishing many more happy years to the blog and the hardest working sportswriter in our state who brought all of this together. Here’s to many more years of rings for the Warriors.

Fear God, Hitmanhart, et. al — the blog used to have high comment counts because it became a national online community, who had UH football as a gravitating force. It had a blog host who had a sly and sublime sense of humor and a high tolerance threshold.
It had bloggers who came out from behind their keyboards and met in person (the Blog parties, Cattle Calls, tailgates, and Karaoke Calls). Once they all met and could picture that person saying the things they wrote, the blog exploded. There was no fear of being misunderstood and more acceptance. I hope more bloggers today will meet in person.
Of course, we/they went a little off-topic everyday (but never more than 90%) and food and fun prevailed. Other people of good will were drawn in. Lots of real-life friendships formed too. A community formed and they adopted the name Tsai-kos….”children of Tsai” or Tsai’s kids”. True enough–ST took a lot of heat and responsibility for us running amok in his blog, but he never abandoned us. True story. See:
