Tight end’s commitment is an isle reunion
Sorry for the delay, but, yes, Ethan Watanabe of Brennan High (San Antonio) has accepted a football scholarship from the Warriors, according to his father Chad Watanabe.
Ethan Watanabe is 6 feet 3 and 255 pounds. He will compete at tight end for the Warriors.
Ethan Watanabe’s father was raised on the Leeward Coast.
“Nanakali Hawks!” said Chad Watanabe, a 1983 graduate who played football and basketball.
Two of Ethan Watanabe’s uncles played for Norm Chow at BYU in the 1980s. Another uncle, Tony Moeaki, is a tight end with the Kansas City Chiefs.
And for the curious: Ethan Watanabe’s father is Hawaiian and Samoan; his mother is Tongan. Chad Watanabe said he took the surname of his step-father.
“Everybody looks at me like: ‘Where’s your Japanese?'” Chad Watanabe said. “I tell them, ‘I eat Japanese food.'”
Here’s his highlight video: Ethan Watanabe.
First?
dos
Wow 3rd!
Watanabe shows why Hawaii is a melting pot.
Yay, I think my eighth first but it’s been a while so I forgot what it looked like.
Cool to see all these great players “coming home.” Hopefully even more are staying home. In Uncle Norm we trust.
ai no kea if he 1/10 Japanese. da bugga is thick an he got all da inside scoops from
family of what its about playing for Coach Chow… his head is on right….
welcome to Hawaii, Ethan. Thanks for wanting to play fo us, be a Warrior.
Go Warriors!
Welcome, Ethan!
I don’t think UH will get many commitments this weekend.
The big weekend is next week.
Nanakuli Hawks?
Night all…
talked to my cuz today. his favorite team is SF 49ers. he told me, “you know the difference between this year’s team and last year’s team?” i bit and said no. he said
“the coach.”
so listen up, Warriors. you got yourselves a coach. if you love to play football, and I know you love football, be grateful you got yourselves a real Div. 1 coach and work your tails off, take the opportunity to get yourselves really ready, really physically fit, for a full on fight for position this year.
you are sooooo lucky, Warriors. and I am tickleddddd….
Welcome to the Warrior ohana, Mr. Watanabe!
he was talking about Harbaugh….
but all the while he was implying Chow.
check out Ethan Watanabe TE videos. pancake.. pancake… pancake….
i wonder who else Coaches thinking about inviting to come “back home.” shucks, while they out recruiting the “seniors” they might as well be talking to the sophomores.
found this out about Gus Lavaka.
now you know why I am terribly excited with all these kind athletes wanting to come play with Coach Norm.
exciting times indeed.
kden, nite all…zzzzzzzzzzzzz
ST’s way of telling us to be patient.
Perhaps Watanabe will end up as a 285 pound center. Or maybe a 300 pound noseguard.
Looks like Wooching committed to Washington
#19 – That’s wonderful news for the Wooching family. I’m always very happy when our Hawaii high school athletes are given the opportunity to play sports in college and get an education while doing it. That’s a great job by Psalm of putting himself in such a position.
Morning, everyone!
Good story on Watanabe, ST! I’m sure lots of kids got a twist to their story too. Always interesting to hear. Mahalo!
Each day brings renewed “I can’t wait for the next day’s news” anticipation. Exciting times for UH!
Silence has come 🙂
Welcome to the Warriors Ethan Watanabe!
The UH coaching staff had a short amount of time to recruit and a huge need at TE, and I think they did an excellent job at recruiting the position. Ethan Watanabe has a good chance at playing as a freshman and really making a mark in Coach Chow’s offense.
@8, visits next weekend… Pro Bowl Weekend… Smart move… So are RGM, Bess, Pilares and Colt in Hawaii right now?
RIP Joe Paterno… Damn It’s a shame he had to go out like that…
Bom Dia and Goong Hee Fat Choy!
Welcome to the Warriors Chad!
Sorry. Welcome Ethan!
welcome Ethat to the Warrior ohana
GO WARRIORS
GO WILDCATS
I like the highlight video! Ethan just mows people down! I wonder if he can carry the ball too? With that kind of size and power…who’d be able to stop him?
19 & 20.
Good luck to Psalm. He has worked hard and has the right to make his own choice.
Too bad he neva choose UH. no matter. now we move on. next.
Go Warriors.
good morning bhf2,
lots of good things in the air blowing around 🙂 wonderful times for the Warrior Ohana, change is good, transition is the challenge…..WOW, can’t wait for all the good reports coming next week. have a good day, hope your teams win today!
Welcome home Ethan.
I’m Dad’s classmate but I didn’t graduate in 1983.
Had a chance to meet Joe Paterno….1982….he was recruiting a kid I coached. He shows up by himself, politely introduces himself and patiently waits for the break between classes to meet the prospect….no notion of self importance or arrogance….he was just like another guy….the kid went to ND…..but I will always remember him. I met alot of guys through the years almost all the top names in the college game in the mid 70’s through the 80’s….nobody like himand the way he conducted himself. That being said I am truly saddened by how the Sandusky situation was handled, as stated earlier a great legacy that ends tragically…..Hope there are more Joe’s and no more of that other guy-

WELCOME HOME, Ethan Watanabe.
Lucky you live Hawaii – no place like home.
Great job by Coach Chow and his staff in recruiting. Just imagine what they can do with a better timeline to do it. They have only been out and qbout for a few weeks. Exciting times indeed.
Great Morning All!
Nice job by the staff. Welcome Ethan Watanabe!
Sad end to a memorable legacy.
RIP Joe Paterno.
College Football owes much to that man.
I’m pulling for the “Harbaugh Bowl”. Ravens and 49ers today. All in the family. But, to be honest I think both games can go either way. Too close to call.
Prayers and condolences to the HPD Ohana. 🙁
@41,
Im hoping for the opposite…Another Giant/Pats SB would be awesome…
24. With the pro bowl in town, coach chow could even bring in guys like Rivers and such NFL players that he coached or knows from his past coaching stints.
“Nanakali Hawks!”= Nanakuli Hawks?
Enjoy Championship Sunday!
HiHo…
Did Joe Pa really die? I thought that was a mistake. I understand he is gravely ill though.
8. ST quality not quantity!
warrior NY, i’m with you. belichek and coughlin. replay of 2007 super bowl, but this time the patriots going win. imua.
R.I.P. to Joe Paterno
Watanabe looks like a mauler of a TE. Guess we found our blocking TE. I like that Coach Chow is going after some aggressive mauler type lineman too. I like seeing guys who truck stick the crap out of the defense and pancake them to the ground following through on their blocks. Like that smash mouth style football. Excited to see some actual type of a running game again at UH. Seems like there was never really a good balance. Either we ran the crap out of the ball in Wagner days, or pass like crazy lately. Would be nice to see a good balance of an attack and some pro sets and TE, FB usage…
Yup, I’m so sorry that Joe Pa did pass on. RIP Joe Paterno, You did it the right way.
Apologies too for my last statement. I meant the right way as far as coaching with integrity, and not about the scandel recently. I didn’t mean to offend anybody.
#19. Husky blog reporting Wooching commited.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/huskyfootballblog/2017294352_friday_night_notes_—_another.html
Hopefully thats all Sark gets.
Good Morning Gangeez! 🙂
Howzit Pauoa Boy! Nice to see your post again. How are you? And where are you?
54. Or maybe a late push by coach Chow and change of mind come Feb first. After all these are young minded men and like it has been stated before, local boys have a hard time saying no.
After watching the highligh video, I’m really impressed with that Watanabe kid. He’s going to be a beast. He was bowling over other players.
RIP Joepa. Really wish he had a chance of retiring rather than being fired.
Go NINERS! 😉
Watanabe. Nice! Whether at TE, OL, DT, DE, NG, or as a bombucha blocking back, I’m sure braddah is going to help the Warriors.
Welcome to the Warriors, Ethan!
God Bless Joe Pa, his family and his legacy.
After watching Watanabe’s highlights again, I’m hungry for pancakes. 🙂 Gonna whip some up soon.
GO WARRIORS!!!
PANCAKES PLEASE!!!
Watanabe’s House of Pancakes

😆 With some of the new recruits coming in on the OL maybe we can have a “Warrior’s House of Pancakes”.
DPK! The Warrior House of Pancakes — W.H.O.P. or WHOP!!!! The sound you hear when the back of your jersey hits the turf and you look up to see all 300lbs sneering at you……haaaaa. Awesome.
BIK
Didn’t JoePa also recruit Amani Purcell down in Samoa?
BIK
Watanabe = Samoan, Tongan, Hawaiian with Japanese last name. He is as “POLY” as they come.

GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Re: ST’s #8 … But Al said …
BIK – Now THAT’S a Tee -Shirt! 😆
Howzit everybody,
Ho get one fellow Nanakuli Hawk (class of 99) in the house. Welcome braddah Ethan.
Oh and I wonder if father Chad went to school with any of my cousin’s husband’s family or my cousin’s husband. Going check at church today.
Anyway welcom again young man.
Possible team mantra: “We love the smell of pancakes in the morning.”
(Or “in the evening,” for games?)
Oh and if ST can ask the father, the familys last name is Hauhio.
Not just Hawks, but the Nanakuli Golden Hawks!
good morning tsaikos.
Other than Brostek, any other local prospects visiting UH next weekend?
On Oahu’s Leeward Coast Line
Stand’s our alma mater devine

Been ten years since I’ve had to remember the alma mater but for today in honor of father Chad Watanabe, hail as Kapakahi says to the Golden Hawks. Nanakuli E’a
No need da Japanese blood.. just da Japanese thinking of “KAIZEN”… which is to improve incrementally each day.
Good MORNING!
It’s sad to hear the news of Joe Paterno. If he had passed away just six months earlier, he would have been toasted by everyone at Penn State and beyond. However he went out with a bitter taste in his mouth as well as his family’s despite his long legacy of successful coaching and contribtions to his community. Its another one of life’s twists and turns.
76: e’a, e’a
That’s a good article about Gus Lavaka being a four sport athlete. The big guy must not only be strong but he must also have quick feet. Looking forward to seeing him play.
68…tommui. after hearing the list of visitors which had changed last minute and had been reduced to six, i did scale down my commit estimate to a high of three yesterday.
so with one down, getting two more still looms as a challenge.
but, the birdie reports are in, wait til next week. the news will be hard to keep up as st will be firing away with those confirmations.
dozen visits could mean six commits. big ones…as in big names locally and abroad.
75…kamehameha warriors, punahou buff n blue, to start with.
Chehu! Hawks baby!
78 Haleakala, If Joe Pa did pass away 6 months earlier, being that he wouldn’t be here, probably more of the blame for the fiasco, would have been put on him. As far as I know, his only mistake was that he didn’t do more and he regrets that too. Very, very sad for what he did, to pass away with his dignity dinged.
OK, back to camping. Came home to feed the dog and pick up his mess. Hot shower and warm . Gotta hele on. bbl
coach paterno was an excellent college football coach and with his passing, it is a loss to many of us. i did not know him personally, but his teams did very well and he believed that a playoff system would help college football.
WordPress seo automation has never been easier http://tinyurl.com/7s4evkc
But, can he catch? The video just show him blocking? Don’t tight ends catch the ball also?
Wow! This guy is a beast! Watching the highlight films, he is a great blocking tight end finishing his blocks and pancaking guys! I love it! GO WARRIORS!!!!
kden back
settling down for some sunday fball. got my baked manapuaa, pork hash and
chow mein
let it rip…….
I hope anthony pierce commits.
Supposed to be the top corner in OC county.
so far coach chow and his assistants are doing quite well in recruiting. go warriors!!!!!!
al, if da warriors can sign 50% of the visiting recruits, i think they should be congratulated, but if they sign 75% or more, it is time to celebrate.
but actually, me, i celebrate any time. hahahahaaa

aren’t you glad you stay in 808
cheewhoooo ball offfffffffffffffffffff

So you went to CWK? 😉
Wooshing following in the steps of Kimo Makaula last minute switch to UW turning down an offer from Hawaii, could not cut the depth chart, so took his game to Idaho St…Idaho St?
You know Kimo Makaula is regretting his decision big time! These kids that go away very few of them actually start. These big schools load their roster with talent they don’t care whether the kid starts or not it’s about coralling em in and let them fight for survival.
RIP JoePa
Welcome home Ethan Watanabe
@95… It’s freaking freezing over here…
Good morning everyone!
Welcome to the Warriors, Ethan Watanabe!
Rolo gonna be right dea in that New England weather.
BIK
Bon Voyage Myki!
…now aboard the Holland Zaandam for a 14-nt cruise, Hong Kong to Singapore.
Tsigh.
@101,
I’m pretty sure UMASS even plays in the same stadium…
# 103. UMASS is supposed start playing there, starting this fall.
sark get plenty money to throw around:
University of Washington: According to the Seattle Times, defensive coordinator Justin Wilcox has received a 3-year deal that will pay him $750,000 (2012), $800,000 (2013), and $850,000 (2014). Offenisve coordinator / quarterbacks coach Eric Kiesau received a 3-year deal that will pay him $375,000 (2012), $400,000 (2013), and $425,000 (2014). Defensive line / defensive run game coordinator Tosh Lupoi will earn $350,000 from now through February 6, 2015. He also received a one-time $100,000 payment and will receive an additional $100,000 payment if is remains on the Huskies’ staff through February 6, 2015. Linebackers coach Peter Sirmon will earn $225,000 (2012) and $250,000 (2013). Defensive backs coach Keith Heyward will earn $150,000 (2012) and $160,000 (2013). Special teams coordinator / recruiting coordinator / assistant head coach Johnny Nansen received a raise from $165,000 to $200,000. Wide receivers / passing game coordinator Jimmie Dougherty moves from $135,000 to $190,000. Running backs / associate head coach Joel Thomas moves from $160,000 to $190,000. Offensive line coach Dan Cozzetto remains at $300,000.
In total, the assistants will be paid $2.73 million in 2012, the most of any PAC-12 program.
here’s nebraska’s:
here’s nebraska’s:
Nebraska: Pay day. John Papuchis’ new salary (promoted to DC) is $300,000, up from $200,000 last season. Offensive coordinator Tim Beck’s compensation rises to $365,000 from $345,000. New defensive line coach Rick Kaczenski will make $195,000. Running backs coach Ron Brown and offensive line coach Barney Cotton will each make $240,000 (up from $220,000 last season). Ross Els, linebackers / special teams, is going from $170,000 to $220,000. Receivers coach Rich Fisher is going from $160,000 to $180,000 and assistant offensive line coach John Garrison will make $160,000 (up from $140,000). Defensive backs coach Corey Raymond will make $200,000.
Bo Pelini’s salary rises to $2.875 million from $2.775 last season.
Hawaii News Now released the name of the fallen Officer.
God Bless
Interesting to see which HC is paying his respective Coordinator based on the side of the ball that he excels. Sarkisian’s OC makes far less then the DC and vice versa for Pelini’s.
Hawaii’s OC makes… 😉
…of course, Sarkisian certainly can appreciate what the wrong DC can cost ya! 👿
Whoops. The KC tight end is his uncle.
I think Psalm committed to UW, but he’s visiting next week.
Save the last dance for Chow?
uhhhh, ST, Warriors face Grand Canyon this weekend, not Grand Rapids.
earlier chow said he would recruit two tight ends.
so he’s got the top jc tight end and a tough looking hs guy in the fold.
however, we are still in hot pursuit of the kapalama hts kid and another one in samoa and still one more in the bay area. you could never have enough te’s. especially since our depth chart is currently at zero.
113…it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.
hopefully she’ll be singing a psalm next weekend.
I think that if UW has another season like this past, things will get uncomfortable for Sarkisian. With the resources they have at UW (football budget alone somewhere in the $20 million plus), they should be up there with Oregon, though their facilities do lag behind the Ducks with all of Coach Knight’s money.
tight ends…i’m still thinking that waylon lolotai will see a lot playing field this year as a tight end. finally, he’ll fit in physically to a position here in manoa.
he came in too light for de and too heavy for lb. we had no tight ends.
then they tried to get him to bulk up to an olineman.
finally, he can play at his natural weight. he’ll be a difference maker this fall.
obscene money being spent at uw on developing a coaching staff worthy of that public institution.
i wonder what their recruiting budget is as well.
i would think that the sark led staff would almost be tempted to bend a few recruiting rules as their is immense pressure now for them to produce.
after all they are getting paid the big bucks.
the difference between a salesman and a closer is that the closer will consummate the deal.
The majority of these scenarios taking place all-around the globe really are not a coincidence. It is almost certainly time for human beings to be ready for really hard times in the future, maybe even apocalyptic times. Understand it is truly not simply just people on the fringe whom seem to be debating this anymore, an increasing number of people are opening up their vision towards the dangerous governmental environment the society is actually in. The most recent testing on the subject of mutating the avian bird flu is definitely just 1 of the multitude of types of the threats which our earth lives under. Thank you for providing a forum to write our thoughts and feelings on, carry on with the wonderful work.
112:
Huh???:
January 20th, 2012 at 8:49 pm
Ethan: Comes from a good family with good genes. He had two uncles play for Chow at BYU. He had another uncle play TE for IOWA. That uncle is currently a tight end in the NFL.
is best to go first, in the middle, or last? (someone did mention this)
sometimes you have no control of your positioning.
regardless of when you make your pitch…what you bring to the table, how you present it, how much they like you, is never trumped by how much trust you can develop during your visitation.
i can see why norm is sudh an effective recruiter…
he is relentless,
he is an astute judge of talent,
he has many contacts,
he has many who will share testimonials of his character,
he has brought in a staff that has that same work ethic,
he is passionate about what he is doing,
he is sincere about his goals,
he walks the talk,
he has the intelligence quotient to do well in this job,
and finally,
he is trustworthy.
such
TE HArold Moleni has committed to Hawaii per Brandon Huffman.
Really stacking up on TEs
did harold moleni commit today?
another te.
Mike Leach “locker room talk” with his former Texas Tech team. Example of talk after all the niceties of recruiting are pau. Warning – uncensored language:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XEbEmsGVrco&feature=youtube_gdata_player
#106- For that kind of money they should be next to USC, and Oregon when it comes to landing 4 and 5 star recruits. Washington is definitely throwing money into the wishing well. Sark won’t ever win the Pac 12. I’ll be glad to put money down. Lot’s of money for a pipe dream.
oh, oh, jeezy33 has a quick internet connection.
hahaha.
that’s the word yah. originally commited to utah st two years ago and then went on his lds mission so he became available again.
6’4″ 250lb
The new UW D-line coach from CAL didn’t leave there on very good terms, it seems. Money and a boat seem to have lured Tosh Lupoi to UW.
http://www.californiagoldenblogs.com/2012/1/21/2722902/tosh-lupoi-washington-huskies-jeff-tedford-cal-golden-bears-interview-audio
I am very skeptical when it comes to players who have to sit out 2 years to serve a mission.
Don’t know what kind of shape the guy is in or if he lost speed.
I wonder if this means we stopped recruiting Bush-Loo
I believe the offer to Bush-Loo is still there but the new staff ain’t gonna sit around & wait. They will seek & find guys who want to play for UH who are as good or better.
133…no. he visits 1-27-12.
If Psalm already committed to UW, why is he tripping us for? A free trip before going off to Washington maybe?
Jeremiah Valoaga just committed to Utah so probably why we snagged this TE.
probably something for the UDub staff to worry about.
I’m a Chrustah!
Maybe Psalm wants to check out the local grinds on Oahu (although you can’t beat the pork chops at the Manago Hotel). Seattle only get one L & L.
…Uwajimaya!
Kealakehe HS has produced some talented D-I players over the years. James Kamoku (Wisconsin), the late Jesse Mahelona (Tennessee + NFL), Dylan Rush (UCLA), and now Psalm Woolching.
Heading for a big finish for the Lamar Hunt Trophy?
D1: Yeah, Uwajimaya is cool. Always spent more $$ than I planned on. They get poi flown in everyday. The new Uwajimaya in Bellevue is nice (where Larry’s Market was). Friday’s was Hawaiian Plate Day at the old Bellevue store.
Well, the Ravens had a shot.
If Buckner OR Lakalaka pull a 180 and commit to UH on LOI day…I will be shocked! But i highly doubt it.
145…i am betting that one of them will be a warrior.
146. If true, I hope its Buckner
wooching still tripping simply means that…it could happen.
i am hoping that we knock down at least four local boys next weekend.
four.
that would be a coup de gras.
I thought we might have a chance to land a 4 star TE this year being that they would have a great opportunity to be a 4 year starter with no returning TEs on our roster. Doesn’t look like its gonna happen though.
NE already in… NYG all the way!
My biggest concern right now is we have got a lot of commits from some big boys, but this recruiting class still is lacking overall speed so far.
Gonna be huge to land guys like Anthony Pierce, Jeffrey Coprich, Dalis Bruce, Alphonso Marsh, Sean Draper, and so on….
Still, I like everything we are doing so far as being fearless and going all out for the best available talent. With a whole year under his belt, I expect Chow to land some big time guys next year.
OT. I switched to HawaiianTel/internet for TV. Their advantage plus has:

WarriorNY the Gaints loss yesterday to the 49’ers.
hold the press…
i am hearing that it is not yet a done deal on tight end prospect harold moleni.
that’s the word on the street. sometimes we hear things that aren’t quite finalized and we run with it.
i, too, admit i was all over this one.
meanwhile, sit back and enjoy the ride.
151…we’ll be getting or are trying to bring in some speed merchants next week.
i hear the visitor count exceeds a dozen.
Al. It’s never a done deal until they sign on the dotted line and we receive their fax.
153
LOL… Uh oh, don’t start the trash talkin’… 🙂
AIIG…i no longer get too enamored with the number of stars some recruiting services label a player. for as many 4-5 star prospects who never make a mark in college fb there are twice as many if not more 0-2 star guys who make it to the nfl.
the recruit services don’t witness nor have the expertise to properly rate players in the first place.
Uh.. HELLO???
THATS how you fix an NFL game. 😆
The Baltimore kicker will be compensated very well all in the name of a New England and NY rematch.
The Tebow fix will have to wait I guess.
WarriorNY I swear I watched the Gaints lose to the 49’ers yesterday, really!
Here we go…
But yesterday’s Gaints wore Blue, ha ha.
Haha, GL Sir… 🙂
Eli on 3rd down is ridiculous…
another TE? really? that is GREAT news!!!!
Pride is right.
The whole line gotta bend down so da QB can see.
Vernon Davis is the da man.
Yeah Niners!!
Outta Bounds!!!
It is highly helpful for me. Huge thumbs up for this site post!
Al…That is very true, there are a ton of high school athletes who are over looked for one reason or another, but there are a lot more 4-5 star guys in the NFL then 2 star. Hawaii has done a pretty good job finding some diamonds in the rough. Woulda been nice to land a 6-6 250 4.6 guy, cause one thing you can’t coach up is size and speed.
If the NCAA goes ahead and cuts the number or allowable football scholarships down by 5, that would mean that the top 60 schools would lose 300 recruits… Those 300 recruits would have to go elsewhere to earn a scholarship. How much more parity would that bring to FBS football, I wonder? Each school would then have an opportunity to trim their budget by 10 scholarships… 5 men, 5 women.
Speed kills. Let’s hope we sign a few fast Wrs or rbs next week.
#141 Old skoo dave….
Dylan Rush went Konawaena, not Kealakehe. He moved there from Waiohinu for better exposure/competition for sports. Football, wrestling, and judo.
After sports was done, he transferred back to Ka’u high and graduated with the classmates he grew up back in the home district.
BIK
It’s not a large investment dollar-wise and it shows the local kids that they are wanted. These are high school seniors, he could always change his mind.
I just gotta say.. There have been some EPIC Giants/49ers games…
Are we getting a visit from Destiney?
Sorry Guys,
I didn’t realize that i was taking over the blog… Sorry bout that…
Wow if true:
KGWSports KGW Sports
KGW’s Michael Berk reports Chip Kelly is working to finalize a deal that would make him head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs. More on KGW at 5.
bighilo…see #154. its not a done deal.
From what I remember, wasn’t Oregon the only job that could possibly pry Petersen out of Boise? That’s been the mumble amongst the Boise folks at least. If Chip Kelly moves on, I’m sure the Petersen to Oregon rumor engine will fire up soon after.
BIK

With the facilities they have at Oregon, any coach, including Peterson, would have to give that job very serious consideration. (That’s, of course, if Chip decides to leave.)
this would be a great time to revisit some of the oregon recruits or perhaps a redshirt freshman qb from hawaii????
Kevin #159 . . . I’m not a big believer in game fixes, but Baltimore REALLY should have won that game. Forget the missed kick. What about the touchdown pass that Evans practically just let go of in the endzone? He caught it and as he turned, the defender barely got a hand on it and he simply let it fall to the ground. Patriots should not have won that game.
al #187 . . . I like revisiting some recruits, but don’t think it would be wise for Mariota to consider leaving Oregon. If Kelly leaves, he is right there among the top of the depth chart with a couple other guys. A new coach would have little preconceived ideas about QB, especially since the starter is going pro. It would be open competition to determine the starter and a perfect opportunity to make a great impression.

Nice information! I am actually trying to start my own and your blog has given me some good ideas. Thank you for the inspiration!
Congrats to the Bows yesterday’s bb win.
Did I hear correctly that the tv announcers said New Mexico has
a 7’5″, 360 lb redshirt bb player?
bhf2,
No go out on your canoe right now, k?
IMan,
Yep
196… Sim Bhullar 7’5″, 360# Freshman Toronto, CA
Yes d1, I just googled it.
Sim Bhullar is a native of Toronto, Canada. His parents migrated to Canada from the northern Indian province of Punjab. Sim’s younger brother, Tanveer, who stands at 7 feet 2 inches (218 cm), is also a promising basketball prospect…
Looking forward to an program changing Feb. 1st NLOI signing day.
Ipu Man – #196 – good ting we no play dem next year.
Must be that Canadian curry…
Huh, 7’5″, I could probably jump right over his head!
The thing is, if chow could go after his baby brother…
Just gotta make sure he lay down first. Lol
I wonder if he plays te?
And even then might still be kinda iffy
TE yup we need just two yards for a first down. Take one step and turn. I will throw a hail marry and soon after it leaves my hand you catch the ball. Guaranty first down
7’5″ das one big bugga
The boys played high school basketball in Pennsylvania and West
Virginia so should be pretty good atheletes.

Go Chip Go! If uncle Phil wants to own a team then he should buy his own instead of pouring his money into the “clucks”
ok dat was 2 very good games today.

and he has a very winning record.
This message is for recruits who might be watching this blog.
Al 124 said it best. Coach Chow is trustworthy.
you can tell that just by watching what the Utah high school peeps
are doing. they wanna play for Coach Chow. that speaks volumes.
from a football coaches rumor blog:
Tampa Bay Bucs: Multiple reports are circulating that Chip Kelly will be named the Bucs next head coach. We have now confirmed.
134.
The Shadow knows!
I’m a Chrustah too!
If Chip leaves, could Oregon commit DE DeForest Buckner decide to trip UH this last recruiting weekend with some Punahou teammates (after having cancelled the rest of his recruiting trips to other Pac-12 suitors)???
cool topic, very relevant now!
from another football coaches blog; posted here earlier:
Tampa Bay Bucs: There is a report from KGW News in Oregon that Chip Kelly is finalizing a deal to become the head coach of the Tampa Bay Bucs.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is now acknowledging the information is accurate. Kelly has interviewed with the Bucs and is in active contract discussions.
Freeman must be squirming, he is big and strong but I doubt he wants to be an option QB like Tebow.
some more about Chip Kelly on ESPN:

Got to tuck the ball away Williams.
look what I found.
hillmok is so righteous. we gotta go afta da “clucks” 😆
Oh joy. Pats and Giants get to go to lovely Indianapolis
in February…
push. if you’re a warrior, you gotta hold your ground!
Ipu.
you are a funny man. 😆
funny how things are working out.
We got a coach who has been aboard for less than a month today. and already he’s got peeps dreaming da big dream. and big time players committing to joining him in making a really great team. and INSPIRING players already in the program. and they know whats coming. the recruits might not know yet whats coming, but the players already on the team know whats coming. because our coach walks the talk. and he is talking tough, disciplined football.
boy are we lucky!
Go Warriors. Go Coach Chow.

Former LA Rams running back John Cappeletti spoke kindly of Joe Paterno during numerous visits to high school campuses in the Philadelphia area. My guess is that John will be one of the pall bearers, and do so proudly. Later when I came to Hawaii and saw George Ornellas run for St Louis, he reminded me a lot of Cappeletti in high school.
Joe Paterno.
Rest in Peace kind and noble sir.
kden…
waiting patiently for news from blizzard country. 😀
laterzzzzzzzzzz
Big Hilo, you are right on #242, “dreaming da big dream”…
dat’s what life is about.
🙂
The Giants gave a special game ball to Kyle Williams . . . but he fumbled it- ugh- okay that was bad
I’m just putting a name out there, Dr. Mark McElroy, as QB coach. He used to work under Norm, is the HC for Saddleback, and a whole lot more.
Here’s his website, http://web.mac.com/dr.mac6/Dr._Mac_web/Welcome.html.
web.mac.com/dr.mac6/Dr._Mac_web/Welcome.html
hawaiiantime…little bit hawaiian time brah.
all of the coaching vacancies have been filled already.
there is a limit to nine asst coaches and we get em already.
Dr. McElroy is doing a great job for the Gauchos at Saddleback. Plus, how you think the Gaucho surf team gonna feel if their leader cuts an runs to Hawaii? And how about dare football team? He’s done great there, and is still doing great there.
Plus, Coach Chow worked with him 2 decades ago. They know each other. We cannot steal all the good coaches away from ongoing programs. Unless, he like come surf. 😀
anyway, doesn’t Coach Chow already have a qb coach lined up?
whew..
thanks al. 😆
that was delicate.
I miss Ted Ginn already.
so al. wen you gonna tell me get da speedsta trippin to Hawaii?
k break time. gotta watch Jim Carrey’s daughter audition American Idol.
norm chow at the airport today. coming home or heading out?
must be he’s heading to da big rock. timing.
thanks cheepono.
of course thats just a wild guess.
you know, talking frankly about our local recruits.
wuz talking with a father of a D1 starting player at a big time school the other day. and we were talking about how he felt about his boy staying home versus going away. from his point of view, his boy was not recruited by UH, but he is now a first string starter at a major major D1 school. you’d recognize the son.
anyway, he was talking about practical stuffs involving his son. his fear of the pretty girls and the pakalolo and the child and….
I got the point. It takes alot of mental toughness to be from Hawaii, living in Hawaii, play football for Hawaii, and stay away from the stupid parts that the islands have to offer.
I started reminiscing about the Sugar Bowl. Yup, we got stupids that we need to protect them from themselves.
And then I started thinking. If we had Coach Chow, the mental discipline would have been different. there are those of you out there that know what I’m talkiing about.
so I welcome Kiha Sai and his decision to remain in Hawaii. Its gonna be tough. But not so tough. Because you got Uncle Norm watching all the time.
and there are those who have led the way. its just that the current players and the current recruits are soooo fortunate to have a dynamo like Coach Chow leading the way.
yes sir. i am soooooooooooo excited!
andre lewis jc player offered today for 2013 (still got one more year before he can transfer)

What makes the father think that there aren’t all those vices and more on the mainland?
In my December Tsai-ko Cruisers News, I was lamenting that there were only two ships departing Los Angeles for Mexico after the UH-USC game since most ships were still in Alaska for a few more weeks.
Those considering a cruise in conjunction with the game have an escorted air-room-transfer-game tkt and Alaska cruise tour option. See today’s Star-Advertiser Travel section. After the UH-USC game, fly to Seattle and board the Norwegian Pearl for 7-day Alaska cruise. 2-nt hotel in LAX and 1-nt hotel post in SEA.
BTW, email me if you have cruised before. I am not a travel agent. I am identifying the Tsai-ko cruisers for a possible cruises together (someday). My email: stevem.hnl (at) gmail.com.
The known Tsai-ko cruisers and their past travels are at:

Happy Chinese New Year, gang! (for tomorrow)
