Tampa kicker/punter joins Warriors

The Florida-Hawaii pipeline is still in operation.

Stephen Yaffe, a kicker/punter from Plant High in Tampa, has joined the Warriors as a walk-on.

The left-footed Yaffe is 6 feet and 180 pounds.

Here are his highlight videos:
> Senior video
> Junior video

FloridaFootball.com named Yaffe to the Class 7A All-State Elite second team.

By the way, Allan Sampson and Katie Grimes are UH/Plant alumni.

What happens to the other kicker/punters if he wins the jobs? How many do we keep?

Are the other two freshman kickers here yet? I think we need someone to concentrate on punting & allow Sanchez to focus on placekick ins. Also, we need someone who can kick the ball through the end zone.

IMHO Rigo should focus on punting and the offense should focus on touchdowns.

Yaffe appears to be an interesting player, but no offers from the SEC or another Power5 school? hmmmmmmmm, wonder why?

in some ways he reminds me of Jason Elam although Elam had a much stronger leg on KO – Elam did not have to put his body into his kicks like many others – just swing the leg and away she went

must agree that his senior video showed most of the balls traveling out of the end zone with good hang times

i guess a Hawaii born player who does well on the mainland or locally will say he represents Hawaii — the media seldom if ever says player is from Hawaii – only mention the college/university he played for…….. if anything, it only peaks the interest of other coaches looking for Hawaii’s top notch players knowing that they will not stay home and play for UH — no worries about “local” competition.

now, if UH was a member of the PAC 12, would it make a difference? all that TV $$$ to spruce up facilities and increased cost of living allowance? will I see that day before I die? hope so!!!!!!!!

Sampson was such an exciting player to watch. Too bad he got no playing time when the new regime came in.
