Spring football begins Feb. 20

Spring will come early for the University of Hawaii football team.

The Rainbow Warriors’ 2017 spring practice will run from Feb. 20 through March 24, head coach Nick Rolovich told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

In Rolovich’s first year as UH head coach, the Warriors conducted the 2016 spring training after the spring break. This time, the 2017 spring training will precede the start of spring break. The timing, Rolovich said, will allow the Warriors “to get a good five-week cycle of lifting before spring ball.”

UH’s spring semester begins Jan. 9.

The Warriors will open spring training on Monday, Feb.20, spreading 15 practices over five weeks. There will be a spring game on Friday, March 24, preferably at UH’s Ching Athletic Complex.

“Basically, by then, they can have the entire offense or most of it learned,” Rolovich said.

The players can train on their own after that. The final week of classes begins May 1. Final-exam week begins May 8.

Spring in March? Does that mean the season’s moved closer? 😆

Gonna be fun to see what the coaches are going to do with a full season of recruiting.

    Beef up boys!
Be nice if our quarterback put on 10-15 lbs and then have a late growth spurt, 2″ would be nice.

    Wishful thinking…

Col of San Mateo OT George Moore apparently is still available. Maybe Dru can talk him into signing with Hawaii.

was this winter supposed to be “wet” or “dry” one for us?

lots of rain on the Windward side including today as the dark, rain clouds hug and obscure the Koolau Mountain Range

continues to rain in Manoa Valley and on Tantalus — ditto for upper Nuuanu Valley and Pacific Heights

early out employees are starting to “pack” Piikoi Street

office is closed and it’s “par tay” time!!!

    Howzit Tsaikos! Happy Holidays!

Went to the basketball games last night. Hope the Warriors don’t start depending on 3-pointers too much.

NSF – if you get time, MVB scrimmaging today @ 4pm @ Waialua HS.

Mr. A-house – we’re in a La Nina period, so it’s supposed to be a wet winter.
