Pro day set for March 20
At last count, about 17 former UH football players will participate in the Rainbow Warriors’ pro day in San Diego on March 20.
The combo-like event will be held in the morning at the San Diego State facilities.
Unlike last year, when UH and San Diego State were co-hosts, this time the former Warriors will have a separate session for drills in front of NFL scouts. The SDSU players will work out in the afternoon session.
So far, all but one of the UH participants are players who competed this past season. Running back Sterling Jackson, whose last UH season was in 2012, is expected to participate.

Good morning fellow old timers
Our baseball bows battled last night but errors and a pass ball did us in. I think Prodatz is not quite ready to assume catching duties as yet. He is a tad bit slow. Marcus Doi looks solid. He has a good bat and is athletic. I think the official scorer got it wrong in giving DePonte a wild pitch. Looked like a good pitch that the batter swung and missed for the strikeout but the ball got away from Prodatz. Our second baseman should forget about swinging the bat from the left side. He looks better from the right.
I agree with your observations Old808…It should have been a passes ball on Prodatz & he definitely didn’t appear game ready. Also agree about some of the switch hitters staying with their normal side.
Guud Morning Tsaikos….sun trying to peek out but will be wet and soggy…
The boys at Schofield busting the heavy guns this morn…loud and clear..
painful game last night. never want to lose it with a few give away but it’s Saturday and it’s game day!

Good morning everyone!
SoCalBowFan — Welcome to the blog! Please tell us what city you reside in. Note the “Lower-Cal or LoCal” Tsai-kos in your area at:
http://home.roadrunner.com/~smurashi/tsai-kos/mainintpost.html
st. anthony trojan — are you in the Philippines? What city?
Judging from the Tsai-kos who show up and meet in person for UH games, tailgates, cattle calls, karaoke calls, etc., my informal estimate was that the average Tsai-ko age was around 48 — and that was 7 years ago. ๐
Aloha kakahiaka.
#19…SteveM…Maybe you make a listing from 40 years and up…MALES can list their age…females if they want to…haha.
Imua Rainbow Warriors!!!
SteveM, I resemble that remark. hahahahhaa
Good morning, gang!
Much luck to Sterling Jackson at Pro Day! Good luck & top performances to all of the UH Warriors who are going to Pro Day.

I think it’s important to keep an eye out on the trends of a college football program. I find it interesting that only six of the 23 seniors from the 2013 class were four year guys. Some may say that Chow ran off the test of the guys
Some may say that Chow ran off Mack’s recruits. Whatever the reason, it’s still I treating to note the amount of lifers in the program. I believe that transfers have a place in the program, however still think we should to the side recruiting athletes to spend four to five years in Manoa.
I treating should be interesting.
Should err to…
Yup. You, Al and Duffer. Haleakala and I are little bit older. ๐
Pu’uwai — much easier to list the known Tsai-kos who are under 40. ๐
BTW, most Tsaikettes are around 29. ๐
Glad to hear after a two year pro-day hiatus it’s back.
ho, ho!
I am well on way to 74 and I lie 99.999999 % of the time!

#35 – pretty indicative numbers here. I’m not sure how many Hawaii fans understand the type of challenges the program has had from a personnel standpoint. Ideally you’d like to see career players on your roster, supplemented with a few transfers. However, it appears that about half of Hawaii ‘s transfers are walk-ons from very small programs. While we welcome walk-ons, we’d like to get to a point where we have a majority of our players recruited straight out of high school. Maybe 10 to 20% of your roster can be recruited JC transfers, with a handful of transfers from BCS programs (Bouncebacks). Your walk-on program needs to be an invited walk-on program. Players who are D1 or borderline D1 players. It appears sometimes that we have D3 or NAIA players used to fill out a D1 roster.

ha .. steve m… cannot ask like that.. here is complicated..to sat what city..
Manila, Quezon City, Barangay Commonwealth, Purok 14 HAVE MORE.. BUT IS ENOUGH TO CONFUSE YOU…LOL
I think there are three solid returnees at LB in Gener, Garcia-Wms, and Lataimua. Gotta look for a fourth and fifth starter for this new defense. Not sure how they will use Leatimua and Taimatuia in this new defensive scheme, whether they will be standing up or have their hand on the ground? Also not quite sure if the new scheme pushes one or two safeties to linebacker.
#38 – Forgot, Drake Miller not retuning.

Be interesting to watch and observe how the relationship between Coach Klune and Gouveia develops. Looks like old school versus new school. Hopefully all heads will be cool and two coaches can develop a mutual respect for each other’s style of play, and coaching style.
The majority of the offensive staff appears to be solid. Haven’t had an opportunity to watch the entire O staff but am quite pleased with the O-line coach and the new QB coach.
#42 – I might have made a mistake. Can’t believe that their aren’t any LB’s in the sophomore class.

#50 – After the O-line graduates five seniors next year, the 2015 O-line doesn’t have enough bodies to make a two deep chart (nine returnees)Tsai did say that Kory Rasmussen would be given a try at O. That, and a few real good walk-ons would be a big help.
SteveM:
I’m probably the oldest.
#42,
Add Jamie Tago……who’s already in school.
#42,
Never saw Torres ever play LB for Punahou so TE more likely.
M. Williams gonna have to bulk up some to play LB.
#50 & #51,
Been saying the same thing for awhile now. Losing Muir, Dew, Wiefels didn’t help either.
#53 – I agree. Think Sully was a big loss. He’s now a Buff.
#53 – great news on Tago.
#50 & #51,
Didn’t see that All-State 1st team Pun OG Davis Miyashiro-Saipaia signed with anyone last week…..so could still be a potential OL walk-on candidate…..

Funny the Tsaikettes are so young. Nice to have all ages on this blog though.

RE: #52
tommui — probably. Unless Al wants to pass you. ๐
RE: #39
st. anthony trojan — I listed you in “Manila” back in 2012. Since no one else is listed in the Philippines, that is probably close enough. ๐
46 – 42 @ half…Warriors got to get in the paint or else it’s gonna be a long day..
Warriors trailing 46-42. Both teams shooting over 50% from the field.
Struggling to defend the paint.
steve m… does that make me captain of the P.I… all the 7,000 plus islands here ?? he he he

Great Afternoon All!
Come on BasketBows!
Fullerton can’t finish drives to the hoop yet still leading by 4 in the 2nd half. ๐ฟ
BBows going cold from outside the arc.
Geez! Quit widda shoddy ‘oop attempts!
Hawaii always seems to mess up on the break away alley-oops.
Hate that 2-3 zone. They leave the 3-pointer open and it cost ’em again.
Face,
Twice this game. Who are you gonna energize? The home crowd? You’re on the road! ๐
BTW, wadda scoops on Coach Akana?
#58 – Saipaia has several FCS offers to mull over. Also has a few opportunities as a preferred walk-on at a few FBS schools.
*crickets*
Block out!!!

Whats up with the espn3 scoring?
The problem is UH no mo nuff…

Damn, stressful game.
Gutted it out!
Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
Thank God that Fullerton guard chucked that three with 18 seconds on the shot clock down by two. That was a head scratcher, but no matter as long as the Warriors weeeeeen.
Did our basketball team win?
the prime time stat is stuck at 1:58 left in the game with Hawaii leading by 4
D1, RE: Akana . . .
Coach Gib says . . .its nothing. No big deal. Oh you mean where is he? Oh. It’s nothing. Absolutely nothing. What do you mean where is he? Ummm . . . recruiting. Yeah, that’s it. He’s recruiting. Oh. You heard that the Big West was notified of some ‘situation’? Oh. That’s nothing. BJ can comment on that.
BJ says . . . Personnel decision. Ask Coach Gib. It’s nothing. Nothing to comment on. Oh. You mean, is he getting paid? Personnel nothing. Recruiting decision. Big West bench players understanding. It’s pretty clear its no big deal. Am I confusing you enough yet so you’ll stop asking? Because that’s the goal here. Personnel decision. Gib can comment on that.
Hawaii – 13
Portland State – 12
GO WAHINE!
The basketball and softball stories are now on the SA website.
Go Lady Luna’s!
Na Wahine is going to be a very exciting team this year…pitching consistency is going to be a problem with a young staff…but looks like the bats are coming alive.

What’s happening at the soccer game?
dang it…bad base running error…could have been a bigger inning.
Iolani! 2-0… ๐
Some wins are just sweeter eh d1!
NSF,
Least we forget, the Rainbow Wahine Softball has lit up teams in Las Vegas and has also been on the receiving end of getting lit up themselves.
As great as Ricketts and Parnaby were during their tenure, they have both admitted in the past that at higher altitudes balls break differently and pitching isn’t exactly the same as opposed to sea level.
YES our young pitchers have yielded too many hits and runs, but as the cliche goes “better now than later”.
Regardless of what happens tomorrow against a steady nemesis Nevada and PAC 12 foe Utah, we’ll see how this past tournament’s results will impact Morales and Kesterson mentally. Personally Im more concerned about Morales processing what has happened in this tourney cause she is a true freshman. I still think Morales will eventually be fine as she didn’t play for one of the nation’s TOP travel clubs and was recruited by other BCS conference programs in the same way Kelly Elms (Majam) was.
***MEANT TO SAY: “I still think Morales will eventually be fine as she didn’t play for one of the nation’s TOP travel clubs and was recruited by other BCS conference programs in the same way Kelly Elms (Majam) was for nothing. Morales in time will show she is an accomplished pitcher.
whitey.. give me a little advance warning..me be there..
Good morning!
Guud Morning Tsaikos….wet…soggy…busy day…keep your canoe ready today..
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Today’s games in the the Easton Las Vegas Classic matches Hawaii against Utah and Nevada. Both are tough games – the Utes have won all their games and the Nevada team only lost one but did have 20-10 victory over BYU.
Of course neither played Florida.
Having said the above, GO WAHINE!!!
Tom, I replied to your email!
And yes two tough games today, historically Nevada has been a “pain” in the okole for Hawaii-never an easy win and always a battle for some reason and Utah probably looking to get some revenge on us after we beat them 1-0 last year on a VERY horrendous call by the home plate umpire that cost Utah the game. Essentially what happened was our batter pulled a ball that clearly went foul right in front of the 3rd baseman, but the home plate umpire claimed the 3rd baseman for Utah touched itโฆ. the ball clearly sailed at least a foot and a half in front of her and should have been ruled foul. We had a runner at 3rd and that’s how we scored the final and only run of the game.
BTWโฆ that home plate umpire that screwed over Utahโฆ was a PAC 12 umpire.
