Top Vegas linebacker commits to UH
A highly regarded linebacker from Las Vegas has accepted a football scholarship from the Warriors.
T.J. Alofipo gave his verbal commitment this morning.
“That’s where I want to be,” Alofipo told The Advertiser.
He is rated as Nevada’s top linebacker, and the state’s fourth-best player overall. Alofipo is 6 feet 2 and 235 pounds.
He said he has been timed at 4.7 seconds over 40 yards. He can dunk a basketball.
Last season, Alofipo made 66 tackles, including 11.5 for sacks.
Although he played strongside linebacker, he also projects as a middle linebacker and defensive end.
He also received scholarship offers from Arizona, Fresno State, Colorado State, Brigham Young and UNLV.
Here’s his highlight video (with the link courtesy of Tombo Ahi):

The players are supposed to be tapering this week in preparation for the weekend’s start of training camp. But defensive end John Fonoti and slotback Aaron Bain have not slowed down. Both have continued to participate in running and weightlifting sessions. Not surprisingly both will go on scholarship this weekend.
Here’s Bain trying to defend his girlfriend, UH soccer player Kristen Oshiro.
Bain then set up the JUGS, an electronic football-throwing machine.

Here’s the new-look Daniel Otineru, who underwent jaw surgery to correct sleep apnea. Otineru, who won’t be medically cleared until November, has received a medical hardship for this season.

Don’t forget Heather McMackin’s football clinic for women is set for Aug. 19 in the Stan Sheriff Center. (It was moved from Aug. 21 because of the Pigskin Pigout.) The clinic is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Each attendee will receive a “playbook” of terms, diagrams and talking points. Light refreshments will be served. The fee is $10. For information, call 956-6508 or e-mail: football@hawaii.edu.

Here’s a picture of Caryn Kunz and her fiance, Washington State football player Vaughn Lesuma. Not to worry Warrior fans: Kunz’s family is backing UH. Vaughn leaves Saturday for Pullman. The Cougars open training camp on Monday.
Hiya!
Good Morning Liz
Yea Bain and Yea bhf2- for the functional JUGS machines!
Stephen, I really liked the article on Bain and am glad to see the pix!
Except for totally writing off Colt as meaningless to the Redskins, here is a good primer for the rest of the team:

Hey djmitcho!
‘kay gotta bocha and get ready to HIHO!
good morning Tsaikos,
have a blessed and productive day. i am still protecting the natives from the tourists; it’s getting easier, not as many tourists 🙁
paradigm shift…TOURISM affects everyone of us, don’t fool yourselves for a minute, the trickle down, the ripple, the you name it effect, will hit all of our families.
g’morning Liz and djmitcho,
all the other Tsaikos getting much needed beauty rest, DPK, wake up, it won’t help 🙂
ST- Nice shot of some JUGS.
Rivals ranked UH 81.
Really? Wow! Guess they’re too lazy to fly out here and find out.
Liz,
Dizon family in Kauai must be sooooooooooooo proud of Jordan and his NFL contract. what an inspiration for all those young student athletes over there….
Good morning Bulla and A-Joe,
It’s easy to look like Im up early cause I’m 3 hours ahead.
Soccer is great for improving footwork.
A few years ago, a UH quarterback was considering a move to defensive back. Natasha Kai decided to work out with the fellas during unsupervised drills. On a lark, she lined up as a receiver, defended by the quarterback. She zipped by him a couple of times. The quarterback decided to remain a quarterback.
Good Thursday gang.
Thanks ST for the daily stories, as this is the perfect build up to fall camp and opening day kickoff.
Why the heck is it becoming more difficult to locate Ferds column ?
A-joe,
what’s happening bro? long time no smell you rock n roll star…give my best to your bride 🙂

Imagine finishing the regular season undefeated, winning the Western Athletic Conference crown, going to the Sugar Bowl and then getting picked to finish fourth in the WAC a year later.
You can’t invent that type of bulletin board fodder.”
http://www.magicvalley.com/articles/2008/07/31/sports/local_state/141458.txt
I was like, what is magic valley???? and why does this come up on a Google for Colt???
Idaho. Aha.
bulla- Jordon has his hands full as a Lion, and yes, very proud indeed! Unlike Colt’s situation where hes is seen as a project, Jordon is EXPECTED to run and deliver right out of the starting gate this season. (Plus I don’t feel that he is his normal self because of his antics just before the draft and the unko karma of keeping it quiet… dunno if he’s being advised by others but something is different…)
He even got slammed for practicing in realtime instead of running the prepared patterns
“— Rookie linebacker Jordon Dizon crushed Artose Pinner and bowled him over with a bullrush move. “I’d be thrilled if he did that in a game, but that’s not really what we’re working on,” said defensive coordinator Joe Barry. The one-on-one drill is designed for linebackers to work on pass-rush moves — like a club-and-rip or spin — not to bullrush. The drill is also designed for backs to keep their feet moving side to side to combat the pass-rush moves.”

A-Joe,
last time i made a comment like yours, ‘nice shot of some JUGS’, i got a right hook to my chest by my bride…..all i can say is U DA MAN if you can say that and not get assaulted by your significant other…
for those of you that missed my “report” from Waimalu late last night, here it is:
http://uhfootball.blogspot.com/2008/07/waimalu-town-hall-meeting-with-jd-gm.html
and no, i don’t even compare to ST, MT, PL or any HA reporter in writing. i don’t know how they do it. i found i was boring myself with my own writing. hope it didn’t put you guys to sleep.
it turned out kinda long because i took a full 8.5 sheet of paper (both sides) of notes, and i filled in the gaps with whatever i could remember.
Hi ST!
HiHo!
Maverick:
The higher-ups are always tinkering, which makes it difficult to find things.
We had a fairly good Web site. Then the higher-ups decided to go with the system-wide design, which also is why we got rid of the “red” that has been associated with our paper. Since then, they keep trying to find designs that fit the readers’ wants. It’s pretty simple, I imagine. Put the interesting stories at the top. But, hey, it’s like a car that never breaks down. If one is invented, a lot of higher-ups would need new things to do.
Chawan:
Thanks for the report!
good morning everyone
good to see bain and fonoti being put on schollies. kinda anxious to see what da slots, mw, ab, and kp have got. regarding fonoti and veikune, our d was successful last year cuz these guyz provided the depth. who will be their backups this year? no one w/ experience probably, but we got any players at the d-end position? 30 days til da swamp, gonna fly by.
huge national news day 2day, bball trade deadline, favre deadline maybe. did i read right, da pack’s actually considering moving him within the division?? yikes for any GB fans. have a good day y’all
chawan_cut,
Thank you for your excellent report! I loved all of the details you were able to include.
Nice that they are honoring our troops at the UH-Oregon State game.
Colt wasn’t the only QB who gave up a lot of money to come back for his senior year. Brohm lost a ton of money…and their team didn’t do nearly as well as UH last season, so he doesn’t get a rewarding season like Colt to look back on.
Another check of the Miami papers to see if anything new came out since late last night…
I think this is good for both Samson and Bess.
oh and thanx for da excellent report C_C
Another note about Bess. I think that this was against the *first-team* D, as Henne was against the 2nd-team D and Beck was against the 3rd team D.
Still no Under Armour stuff. This is blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Update on the Reggie Bush court proceedings.
bhf2 email me about da book !!
huh?? 🙁
Whoa got a little spam here!!!

The powers that be need to delete comment #31
I am surprised the filters let it through.
Uh ST ????
What Djmitcho sez above.
Little help?
yikes 20 minutes and its still here, oh my
Whoa, I gotta read these comments more often…wake you up on a Thursday morning, eh? Did Jackbowan attend the blog bashes?
Great Morning All! (#31 excepted)
Great reporting Chawan_cut! Mucho Mahalo!
Great to see some JUGS pics. (Bulla, no tell my Mrs. I said that!) Mahalo bhf2; catch you at the KKall.
ST: You must have been to the field just after we left yesterday. Great recognition for Aaron Bain. Note from chawan_cut at last night’s town meeting.
homey: check your email. sjmacro
Does anyone know which other players will receive scholarships this weekend?
Just a reminder that if there is a delete-able post, just let me know. But avoid making comments on it, or using the number. For instance, if No. 31 is delete-able, and I get rid of No. 31, then No. 32 becomes No. 31 and …
Well, you get the picture.
ForddyFor!! 🙂
S.Malai:
That’s it for now, as I understand it.
Jameel Dowling was put on scholarship in the spring.
Tim Grasso goes on scholarship this weekend, but he was promised one last year.
There’s a two-year rule, as I understand it, that prevents Mana Silva from going on scholarship this semester.
We understand that Mr. Tsai. That’s why my above post is truly #44 because I knew all of that! Yeeeeaaaahhhhh…. That’s right! I knew all of that! 😆
We understand that Mr. Tsai. That’s why my above post is truly #44 because I knew all of that! Yeeeeaaaahhhhh…. That’s right! That’s the ticket!! I knew all of that! 😆
Sorry for the double post. 😳
Good morning Tsaikos…
Gotta say, those are some nice JUGS. Thanks to BHF2 for having the work done on them….
Great to see the dedication of Bain and Fonoti…
Thanks for the report Chawan….I can use it for work now…MWAHAHAHAHA
Bionic man, Daniel O.
BHF2, thanks for the info off the old UH guide. I nevah go UH, so I don’t know anykine songs.
Way to go, Bain & Fonoti! JUG-gernauts!
OK, thanks for the clarification Stephen.
Pomai, I nevah mean you in #40; unless dat one get deleted in which case nevah mine wat I saying hea, but eef dis post get deleted den you not going know I wuz sorry so…..
….wat we was talking about??? 😕
Wow, I come back from a meeting and it seemed like everyone doesn’t like Pomai’s post at #31, including Pomai. Not to worry though, I read through everything and I get it now.
Okie Dokie. Will remember not to use #’s
dj… I do have a 3XL shirt….
No problem dawg. How’s it hangin’?
Thanks ST!
Good Morning Tsaikos!
Where is everyone today? Not too many posts…gives me a chance to read last night’s posts.
Everyone recovered from the CC yesterday? I couldn’t even eat dinner last night because I was so full…had to work hard to keep from trying to take a nap.
Good morning all creatures.
Bulla – I would go for the mojito and if you still demand to be the mixmaster then I shall bring the lime, mint leaves, sugar?, and H2CO3.
sjmacro – got the email.
Rob25 – Last night I had Costco chicken with Mcdonald’s fries topped off with a dessert of dark chocolate covered macnuts. YUM! Only thing missing was the mashed potatoes and peas!
I heard Wie is even par! Of course she hasn’t teed off yet though.
Those soccer Wahine can school many guys, awesome athletes. Shoutout to Chelsea Deptula! GO CHELSEA!
Saw recent UH Softball recruit Dara Pagaduan the other day…GO DARA!
ST – Would you happen to know the status of Josh Andrews?
Pride=Tongue Fu Master 🙂
Mr. Stephen Tsai,
This is to inform you that your credit score has increased. Thank you for your timely payment. If you wish to view your credit history feel free to utilize Experian, Equifax, or Transunion. You can also visit the link, freecreditreport.com in the Honolulu Advertiser website.
Another recruit! I wonder who influenced him to come to UH?
Now if UH can get Manti…

Stephen,
Is Alofipo a High Schooler? Senior?
At 235# sounds like a MLB?
Good morning everyone.
homey — H2CO3? … I guess bulla is bring the C2H6O gasoline additive mixtures 😕
ST – I noticed you have 2 different spellings for the new recruit’s name.
homey,
2 to the 6th?
SteveM – Carbonated water…iirc.
Maybe he hit so hahd, you fo’get how spell?
Good morning/afternoon, Tsaiko Nation and Tsai-Meister.
Good story on Bain, I’m happy for him. Just goes to show you, winners are all alike, they all keep fighting against any odds until the goal is reached, willing to pay the price for success. Many of us don’t reach our goals, because we are not willing to pay the price and anything worthwhile in life always has a price tag attached.
chawan_cut,
Many thanks for your great report. It is especially appreciated by us Mainlanders, myself in particular. From 5,000 miles you brought us close to home, much mahalo.
I like the whole attitude from the program leaders that clearly came through, we will be great this year, regardless what any clueless pundit proclaimes in their little articles, comprised of old knowledge, assumptions and guess work, we all know better.
Wow, Monday is right around the corner, I can’t wait to get this Championship Train rolling. GO, WARRIORS !!!!
d1 – cube root of 262144?
chawan – Thanks for the report! Now get back on the bike and exercise!
I thought I read here awhile back that UH was unveiling a new web site and I thought it was suppose to take place on July 18th. I drink a lot so
did I just imagine it or did I just get the dates wrong ?
Also did Kari Ambrozich have her baby yet and who is taking her place while she is gone this year ? Thanks in advance most knowledgeable Hawaii fans.
homey,
I’ll take your word for it…I could only find 6 oddah guys around fo’ figure out da las’ one!
heheheh
#62, CCSB – too funny
ST…does Alofipo have any familial ties to Hawaii??
Man, I feel like I’m back in Chem class….ewwwwwww
alofipo has ties to kahuku if i remember correctly. not sure if he’ll be playing his senior year in tacoma or vegas.
great news on da vegas LB, tuioti paying dividends already. hopefully he can bring his teammate too, brainfart 4got his name though.
great news! here’s alofipo’s high school highlight video.

Some news on Vince Manuwai
http://www.jaguars.com/news/article.aspx?id=7097
Quote of the day from ST’s main Bain article in the Sports section, from Bain’s gf, Wahine soccer player, Kristen Oshiro.
“We were good friends before we went out,” Oshiro said. “He’s a very nice guy. He’s my best friend. … He didn’t really ask me out. We started hanging out and he never left.”
Homey – I thought it was fried chicken that was your comfort food. Good thing we not eating that at a CC or those peas might come shooting out from….well you get the picture.
BTW, that’s a lot of hardware on Daniel’s teeth! I sure hope that he sleeps good now!
I was watching the video on Alofipo, someone should take a look at #13, the kid spent most of the game in the opponents backfield.
Rob25 – Costco was on the way home. I even bought a frozen bag of edamame to keep the ice cream bars I was going to buy at the snack bar but when I went to get the ice cream bars the worker told me they ran out of the chocolate dip and the nuts. Now I have a fricken 5# bag of edamame in the freezer.

The Dodgers got Manny?
Homey-*giggle* You could always make spicy edamame for the KK!
Thanks for the Wie update…trying to get my reports out before lunch.
I found this page that I think you guys will like – it has Warriors football news fed in from the top sites all on to one page:

Blackie. I tried to do a phonetic translation and this was the closest I could come. Maybe I should have paid attention in Japanese class.
Green Bay wants to pay Favre $20 mil to stay retired?
I have no time to learn Korean…language.
ブラッキ,
Copy and paste this, who needs Japanese class?
Amazing to read the details of how recruiting budgets are increasing significantly. To most schools, it is the “cost of doing business”…I’m glad that UH had JD now instead of HF to set the recruiting budget. Even D-IAA recruiting budgets are increasing rapidly!
Great news about Alofipo! Congratulations to the UH coaching staff and special congratulations to Tony Tuioti!
Great news about Alofipo’s verbal to UH.
Since Tony Tuioti was the DC for Silverado High School, maybe we get chance on their highly touted DE also!
Wie – 1 over after 3.
Thanks Z
Thanks, LV.
Homey, I know enough Korean to say, “meat jun.” Wait, that’s not Korean…
Rob25 – I can always give you the bag and you can make the spicy edamame!
From a live blog on PGA.com
Wie hits a poor drive on No. 3, chips out and then hits the pin on her shot to green. But it bangs off the flagstick and ricochets to 25 feet. The crowd goes nuts! Then she drains the long par putt. The crowd roars!
BBL, time to get some bones for the dogs.
guess they are teammates, hopefully they’ll continue to be teammates for their collegiate careers as well 🙂
IIRC, da coaches offered 3 guyz from this same school that tuioti came from. – TJ Alofipo, Keenan Graham, and a 6-1 DB. hopefully they can get da package deal
wow another early commit, thank you Tony!
homey – only korean words i know is “ton opso”
Alafipo is big time. He’s rated as the No. 1 linebacker in Vegas, and Nevada’s fourth-best player overall.
Regarding M.Wie (team wie),
Is her dad still managing her?
Is he still working at his old job?
Or are the parents living off of Michelle’s money?
Anybody know?
re: Alafipo – i’m sure Kazz will be happy he chose Hawaii over that red team
I’m getting tired of this unko but here’s one more … that’s turning ever so slightly positive…
http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/07/31/colt-brennan-is-out-to-prove-that-hes-more-than-a-ukulele-playi/
“Brennan is facing pretty long odds, but who knows, if Collins continues to struggle, maybe Brennan wins the job. I don’t see it happening, but, honestly, who had Mark Brunell as an NFL starting quarterback two years ago? Exactly.”
Homey – Let’s get Myki! She’ll try anything…right?! Oh wait, that was A-sports.
iirc???
Iraqi Islamic Reconciliation Conference?
Michelle is doing her job- regardless of her golf- she is drawing the crowd to the tournament and her gallery is growing – and is very supportive!
She’sbeing covered by a blogger:

Contrats to UH coaching staff and Tony Tuioti for their success in securing “early” commitments from high school players – it’s a great team effort!!!!!!!!!!!
Hopefully, more Hawaii players will decide that UH is good place to play football and “showcase” their talents as NFL scouts, now, always look at Hawaii as a tremendous source of good players.
All times eastern
6:01 p.m. — Believe it or not, not all members of the sports media are in great shape. Including yours truly. But I just walked by a couple of reporters who are going to seriously struggle to finish this nine. They are stopping for breaks! It’s only funny until there’s a health issue, so for now, it’s funny.
Michelle hit a great approach on this hole, but her birdie putt slides by. She’s still 1 over after four holes, and eight shots behind clubhouse leader Jeff Overton, who posted a 65.
5:49 p.m. — The size of the security detail has gone up to five. The crowd is starting to show signs of fatigue from all the hills on this course. But they still scramble to get a view everytime she approaches. I have a new appreciation for her ability to grow the game. Tons of young girls are in the crowd. They will remember this forever.
😯
Now you tell me!
It’s been so hard writing the kanji with this mouse all this time!
Tombo Ahi-
Mahalo for the great video. Alofipo’s pick off of the pitch out for a TD is pretty funny. Not something he’ll ever forget, I’m sure.

Can’t ask for much more so far with this recruiting class. The #1 LB in Nevada, the top passer in California, the best WR in Hawaii (Class of 2009, I think Taz is slightly better overall), and one of the best athletes in the state (Makaula). Not a bad first 4 to get started with.
Great job by the UH staff!
This site picked the top up-and-coming players on D and a Florida DT made the list, with 2 other Florida DL making honorable mention. These guys will be great motivation for the UH OL, probably the best test they will get all season!
99club,
Howzit.
That play reminds me of a TD Scott Smith had for SLS.
Literally batted a pass, caught it and ran in for the score. Think I got it on video someplace…
think also I have no clue how to put it online. Sowwy.
eagle, you got dat right, and there;s so much potential for this class to just be ridiculous w/ all da offers and local products out there (even if we don’t get the top 2 or 3).
top passer – maybe one of the top passers, but da top qb gotta be Matt Berkeley (sp?), colt’s old HS’s qb bound for ‘sc
YEA! Finally!
A redskins fan has created a Brennan Video!

Thanks Liz…that was awesome. Love seeing Colt getting some love!
Obviously he’s not the top QB, but stat-wise he’s the top passer. That’s what I meant. Barkley is the clear #1. But CA has tons of great QBs so leading them ALL in yardage, regardless of competition-level, is still worth noting.
From what I hear UH is probably not going to get the local boys (Manti, Hasiak) with all those BCS offers as they are leaning towards Pac-10 schools, so getting these other top guys early is nice.

“I actually ran into Colt at a local bar near my house. He was really nice, as he was leaving I was like whats up Colt and he stops to shake my hand. I told him congratulations on making the skins and he said thank you. I told him this was my favorite bar and he said you will see me up here all the time. Just an extremely nice guy. He was drinking on a a couple pints of guinness up at the bar.
There was also a charity fund raiser going on that night and I think he donated some money and signed autographs for people. He doesnt seem to mind the attention and will gladly give anyone the time of day. Really cool guy.”

Liz,
Nice pick-ups.
Sounds like Colt got the Guinness habit from the Former Coach.
sorry bout da misunderstanding eagle, dat’s right, his stats were unreal, perfect qb for our type offense. getting a bunch of recruits this highly rated b4 summa’s even out is a definite change going in da right direction, especially on da local front. would be nice if one of these years we get the consensus #1 local recruit, (although it could be argued paipai was 1a last year)

lets see there’s doing an esme, too much koakane, hiho, rotflmfao …..
JJ did colt and the other UH players right by letting them be men and adults and have to face the local media on their own. all these other big schools are scared to let their guys talk to anyone. you can see how sheltered and priveledged that these players think they are. also they might be protecting their schools image as well. when i watched the ESPN college football challenge that colt participated in, i couldn’t believe the interviews with some of the other players. how did they even get into school with english like that? even more so, what’s their major and how did they pass any classes?
colt is a normal guy and that grows on the common non-player folk like us.
I’m looking at the picture of Bain with the JUGS and was wondering how does one practice with it if you are the only one there? How far can the JUGS “throw” a football? Why is it called JUGS? Where is gigi?
Caryn’s future hubby is tall! Congrats again to Caryn!
are there jugs machines specifically different for football and baseball or is it all da same?
the questions should now be,
what color will Caryn be wearing at the tailgate on 11/29???? and will she now be blogging and writing for the Pullman Daily News???
chawan – even Einstein had speech difficulties as a student… 😆
dpc – looks sport specific to me.
Hope the “BCS” lure does not sway any of our top football palyers.
BCS schools, such as USC, got talented players from across the nation and being the “best” in Hawaii may put a player way down the depth chart. Some may get to start their Junior or Senior year. Maui LB found out SC had tons of better line backers and each year better line backers committed, a further slide down the chart.
Be like Sol and Adam, come in and start as a Freshman!!!!!!
chawan – the question should be “is Caryn gonna show up for the tailgate on 11/29?” She may pull a jojo.
Garret-
RE: your post about OR St. game honoring veterans…the NM St. game is the week of Veterans’ Day and they are also having some kind of special promotion.
LizK,
Great find on the video from D.C. Music matches Colt, too. I’m sure he’ll have a following of fans in the D.C. area like Hawai’i. He’s so personable. From the video & the game films, I think Colt scrambles better than Leinart. I’ll have to keep my eye on Matt this Saturday at practice.
homey,
i’m still dyslexic. you don’t even want to how know times i edited last night’s report from Waimaul.
A-House – I hope you are not implying that Hawaii has inferior talent in that they can’t start as a freshman in BCS schools but can in Hawaii.
Where’s my A-House decoder manual?

hey chawan – thanks for the report from last nights meeting.
i think all our student athletes do well with the media because we have a great media corp in hawaii
homey – i was thinking the same thing about the jugs, the baseball ones require someone to feed the balls
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/trainingcamp08/news/story?id=3513525
even if you’re a BCS player, no guarans you’ll survive. look at ex-all everything WR from USC, Mike Williams. released because he was overweight and out of shape. those BCSers take things for granted. they probably don’t work as hard as the smaller schools like us to go out and prove their worth and skill and continually work at it. from the article, it seems like he woke up this offseason and tried to tone down, but it was just too late.
i bet all the $$$ he made was spent on frivolous things and not saved or invested wisely. you and i would love to make a sliver of their salary, but we need it and use it smartly.
BTW JUGS can be used for punt coverage practice and returns. You could be the operator and change the angle for a sky “punt” , run and catch your own ball. Machine can probably launch 60 yards. Maybe put one on either end of the field and do modified “220s” 😈 sjmacro

Michelle is Even par after 10 and tied for 59th
Wow where is Gigi today?
Tell Fate Yanagi I need her…
homey:
No, Hawaii has great talent, but when compared to the mainland types, they are bigger, stronger, and faster.
I am thinking really hard to recall any Hawaii football player who went to a BCS school and started as a Freshman. Nada.
Chawan_cut – Thanks so much for all the hard work. It was very informative.
Tell Fate Yanagi no go cry…And no go out wit Stephen Tsai.
Wait, I tink I get da wrong words…
sjmacro – that must be some old time baseball slang because I never heard of it.
A-House – Dominic Raiola comes to mind.
Thanks, Rob25! The link to the full leaderboard from Michelle’ blog was broken…
phew!
Busy day at work.. can hardly see whassup odda places!
Has anyone seen my good friend Glenn Miyashiro?
Blackie:
I went to one of Rap’s shows. We sat in the front row. He did the Fate Yanagi gargle, only I think he got a little on us.
OK, Google-ites, why is it called JUGS? I always thought that was speed gun.
There’s a Glenn Miyashiro who is in the Society of Seven. He’s a funny guy. He used to be a waiter at Sam Choy”s on Nimitz.
Gross! But that can’t be worse than this one time I went to see Siegfried and Roy. That elephant the used started relieving him(her)self on stage. I swear that the people in front got splashed! I was grateful that I couldn’t afford the close up seats.
homey:
did Raiola start as a true freshman at Nebraska?
anyone else comes to mind?
how about the line backer from St Louis who was #1 Parade All American and came back with Arizona St to play Hawaii at Aloha Stadiium and they lost. he kinda disappeared after that game.
I always assumed that JUGS refered to the manufacturer.
I think Caryn is like 5-5 or 5-6.
I can’t really tell.
But don’t forget she’s going to join us for karaoke on Aug. 16.
(I think she’s a backup singer in a local group.)
A-House – Oh my memory…I remember talking with Raiola’s uncle and he mentioned that Dominic started as a freshman on the o-line and later moved to center. Sheesh, now I can’t even remember the uncle’s name…it’ll come to me.
Rob25 – I think gigi is at Costco buying a new microwave oven.
Oh yeah, the uncle’s name was Wally.
You’re right. It is the name. I saw that little trademark symbol on its Web site.
They’ve got a JUGS pitching machine that throws curveballs. I’m not sure how that’s possible.
Bigwave – Hey, I’m the same height as Caryn!
Someone answered earlier but here is link to company’s FAQ
http://www.msblsports.com/jugscurveball.html
I think that Legends leaderboard is down or something haven’t been able to get on since I last posted results.
From:
http://www.jkpsports.com/support/faq.cfm#q55
Where did the term “JUGS” originate?
The original JUGS Curveball Machine was named from an old-time baseball expression for a curveball, “jug handle curve”. The name stuck and has been part of baseball ever since.
So, UH is putting out those irritating rules.
Something about no live blogging at practices. Fans won’t be allowed to take pictures or videos.
homey – Did you put your kids in her micro?
And yet Homey and Caryn are so not similar . . .
ST – Are they going to pay someone to make sure that we aren’t taking any pics at the practices? I find it hard to believe that they are going to be able to enforce that rule. Does that mean you can’t take any pics of Daniel Libre for us?
was jason gesser a frosh when he started against us in ’99? although he didn’t start til the last quarter of the year or so, IIRC
A-House…you do have a point about the physicality of Hawaii’s players. I mean, even when I played, I was small compared to my mainland counterparts. That’s why we have to have heart to play the game. Sometimes, heart plays a larger role in a teams success than their physical attributes, or lack thereof.
You’re right though, Hawaii does have a lot of talent.
A-House – Joe Siofele? Wayne Apuna? IDK…
Wreck/blackie…one of da favorite lines from that song…
“I was deaf ear, I never like listen
Now I stay Queens, in critical condition.
My friend Bernard came in and said,
Waste time I came, I t’ought you was dead.”
Oh, I’ll take pictures, although, you know, the players do practice with jerseys. No more shirtless photos of Libre and Spencer Smith.
Steele Jantz doesn’t report until Aug. 25.
(J)J, I think Chad Owens is a perfect example of what you are saying. Of course, in the NFL, it is a case where you need heart AND physical attributes to be successful.
It would be funny if they had Rap’s stuff at karaoke places.
Well, as long as nobody spits on me while doing the Fate Yanagi yell.
Wie – 1 over after 14
I think Frank DeLima’s “Abdullah Fataai” should be a karaoke song.
ST – If it wasn’t for Caryn I wouldn’t have gotten in trouble stalking Esme.
OK, I have to go to the bank.
We get paid every Thursday. But the way things are, you have to sprint to the bank.
Anyway, I’ll blog when I get back home. But can somebody remind me to wish Aaron a happy birthday tomorrow? He’s my daughter’s boyfriend. He thinks I don’t like him. Well, he did “accidently” hit my car with his mo-ped. But he’s a good guy.
WHAT?
OK, sorry about that scream…no more shirtless pics…come on, just gotta stalk them on the way to the locker room…in all the heat, they are gonna want to pull them jerseys off.
Better idea…locker room pics. *Did I say that out loud?*
Rob25 – What kind of dad would put their kids in the microwave oven!?!? Where did you get that idea? You’ve been hanging around myki and A-Sports too much!
Blackie…I always thought that JUGS referred to something else…. 😮
Homey:
Esme should be stalking you. You’re the one with the computer skills. That’s like a good mechanic. They should be valued in society.
i think they don’t want pictures of formations or lineups, etc. i’m pretty sure you could take pictures after practice of the shirtless guys for the ladies.
Rob25 – Some of the players do wear those skintight under armor shirts. The kind that Stretch uses.
how come nobody stalks me?
ST – I think I’m a better auto mechanic than a computer mechanic. Anybody, need an oil change?
Wie – 1 over after 15
Rob25:
You know I’d do almost anything for you, but I think reporters who take photos in locker rooms don’t have lengthy lives. Just a hunch, I think.
ST,
what if we brought a CD/mp3 player with both Rap and DeLima’s songs? i’m sure we all know the words. we’d just need to get it played on the speakers.
chawan – you can go hang out with someone and then don’t leave.
Homey:
At my age, oil change has many meanings.
Or as I used to say to Ferd Borsch: “At a certain age, scope isn’t a mouthwash.”
(J)J – Being raised in Texas I only knew one meaning of JUGS.
OK, I’m leaving, for real.
Behave.
Brother Mike is watching.
Well I did say oil change and not radiator flush.
brother mike!
never get the special kami yet. i hope it didn’t get lost!
thanks!
FWIW, Wie has a par 3, 5, and 4 left. Her best chance is to eagle the par 5 and birdie the par 4 and she’ll be in the clubhouse at 2 under. And don’t forget to sign the card!
homey…raised in Texas??? You must have been like an oompah loompa compared to those guys….MWAHAHAHHAHA
Hey, ST, I’m a good backyard mechanic…How come I’m not valued (or stalked)….???? MWAHAHAHAHHAA
Good Afternoon All… Too lazy to read through all the posts through today but wanted to say What’s up. I need a nap before heading to SSC for the Game On dinner. See everyone later.
(J)J – Hey, we should do oil changes for the Tsaikos and the proceeds over cost can be donated to Stretch for his distribution to UH athletics.
Arrghhh! Wie just bogeyed the par 3 and is now 2 over after 16
homey,
there’s a difference if my company is invited and desired vs if its not. then it would be considered something else and would involve lots of flashy blue lights.
Hi Chawan,
I popped it in the office mail last week. Sometimes there’s a short delay as it works its way out of the building, but you should have received it by now. I’ll check and see if it was held up for some reason.
chawan – There you go, choose your company wisely.
(J)J – Are you hiding pecs like Libre?
ST – OK, then I will follow you around and make like I’m your intern or something to that effect. You take the pics for the blog with your old camera…I’ll take the pics for the Tsaikettes with your new one.
Deal or no deal?
Or as Rob and Russ would play…meal or no meal? hehehe
Homey…that’s an idea…if we do it when there’s a sale on oil at Checkers…we could charge reasonable rates..
Howzit howzit
ahem,
Fight Hawaii Fight
Fight Hawaii Fight
Fight Hawaii
Fight Hawaii
Fight Fight Fight
an da name ah da cheer is
Fight Hawaii Fight 😀
Rob…not hiding pecs…I don’t think I am…but I can do the pec dance…just ask Mrs. A-House…see July 14th blog and picture from 2nd Anniversary Blog Bash…MWAHAHAHAHAHA
Howz about dis one from ole ’51 Hawaii.
Da name is Cheer Cheer
“Cheer cheer for dear Green and White
Sons of Hawaii, come on and fight
Forward, forward, down the field
Fight on, and fight to victory
Break through that line and smash them up
Pile on the score till victory’s won
Fight and Fight and fight fight fight
For the dear Green and White, fight fight.”
😀
Mike,
thanks. thats what i thought. our office mail is slow to get out too.
thanks for keeping it safe all this time.
LizK, (#131)
saw the vid. cool! to have a wash fan to already get on the colt bandwagon.
what was cool was that i saw some of the clips i had in my vids in his vid.
LizK, just saw your Colt video, great fun, thanks for keeping us up to date on the Colster. He seems to slowly but surely win over the Skins fans. His pre-season game chances will be vital for him, if he shines or even just plays decent, the sky is the limit.
The change at UH in the entire recruiting style is mind boggling. It will bare tremendous fruits in a couple of years, if not sooner. JJ’s leaving may yet to turn out to be Hawaiis greatest blessing.
Brother Mike…so how goes the HOG???
homey,
is it the chooser or the choosee?
Okay gang…I, like ST, have to go and run some errands…and than head off to a meeting tonight….hope everyone has fun at the SSC dinner….
Talk to everyone laterz….
ahem,
i went to lower campus today. i spied da 2 JUGS. I TOUCHED da buggas, gave me da trills. 😀 talked to Kyle Tengan, da maintenance guy. he said everyting is alright now, he’ll call if anyting needs fixin.
so on behalf ah all uh us to all uh us, THANK YOU TSAIKOS! WE GOT IT DONE. AND WE’RE STILL GETTING IT DONE!
btw, let a bunch ah UH peeps gaze at da ’51 Cheer and Song book today. gave da ole timers like Mr. Yee, Ron Lee, chicken skin. Marilyn made a copy, i meet da bandlady tomorrow so she can deal with authentic old cheers and songs. things are moving.
i meet up wit Roger Hill in da morning, take care ah tings.
(J)J – Yes I did see where she was touching you!
BTW – Who’s hiding Gigi and WD? Homey?
“I eat green banana, tree and all…
My favorite game, is tackle football…
I got one tooth, but you bettah not laugh…
or else you gators… I going break you in half!”
I remember listening to Freddy Shaka… Not so much his jokes but he did a really good “Deck of Cards”… I have been searching for that recording ever since…. Never found it yet…
Wie back to 1 over thru 17
Parker is tied for 6th with -4…good news for him today.
“Glory Glory Cawabungus!
My Brain Is Really Made of Fungus
And My Piko is Humungous!
The Punch Bowl Kid Marches On!!!”
okay nuff…
chawan_cut,
You ARE lame! 🙂
Caryn & Vaughn, you make a great looking couple. Congratulations on your engagement!
Man, it really seems like trying to matchup with the TE’s is gonna be crucial come Aug. 30.
Cornelius Ingram is on the watchlist for the Mackey Award.
Hernandez figures to be the other TE.
Hawaii mentioned as a winning program with one of the smallest recruiting budgets. Boise St. is also in that category.
I think the key to winning Florida will be rotating alot of players, kuka pile ice water, lots ah smash mouth football for 60 minutes, an da O playin dah best game ah day lives, right on dis side ah da edges.
Lets go Warriors. Go Go Go.
Go Warriors!
Isn’t this the PERFECT time to replay last seasons games that were broadcast on K5 ?
Do it in Prime time. not 10 pm. and keep looping the games.
This gets everyone pumped up and purchase season tix.
…And ask permission nicely from ESPN for the rights of our other games, and re-broadcast.
GO WARRIORS!
bhf2,
I agree with you, that’s exactly why I give the Warriors a real chance to pull out a win. For the first time we seem to have real depth in all positions, on par with the bigger programs. I remember the past well, when so often we hung with the big boys, but then got steamrolled in the fourth quarters, after our starters ran out of gas. In addition, regardless of how Florida will talk before the game, they’ll think of this game as no more than a good warm up. If we get on top of them, they may start pressing and then, if our defense plays as good as advertised, we may force them into some mistakes and then our O catches fire and……….
Yo James! Big Red is good but getting fed up with midday bumper-to-bumper traffic from UH to downtown. Lemme know when you get your wheels rolling so we can hit the road for a real ride.
Hi, Maverick,
Did you see my post from yesterday? I’ve got your e-mail,(great looking family) and replied. Did you get it?
Aloha Ted,
Sorry I missed yestereday. No email came through. I have been having server problems lately with my incoming mail. Might want to try again.
Thanks for the compliment. The Ohana is buzzing as high as I am for the season to begin. Our boy might be able to attend the Fresno game with his Warrior fans cousins. The drive from S.F. is not far when there are 4 eligible drivers in the van wearing UH gear!
Just finished watching the tape of Michelles round from Tahoe. I must say her game has vastly improved and seems to begin to round back into shape. She’s putting great today and hit some unbelievable shots from the bunker and rough. Also some very good second and third shots from fairways. One drive she belted 316 yards right down the middle. She needs a few more of those and she’ll make the cut. She used the driver only twice, so a 73 on a 7,500 y course? Not bad, but she needs to get to one under to be save.
chawan-
you’re a spontaneous-picture-taking-with-girls-coming-out-of-bowling-alleys kind of guy. Don’t sweat it. I can’t imagine it being any fun. But if you want, I can send Homey over with his paper bag.
O.k., Maverick,
I’ll reply again. Looks like you’re as excited as I am for the new season, heck, we’re all buzzing, throughout Hawaii any many parts of the Mainland and the world even.
Great to see the early commits from big time players, just hope they stick and sign the dotted line on LOI day. That’s a nice size LB core coming in…PaiPai, Alema, Art, and now T.J. hmmm…wonder when that Te’o guy is going to join the bunch?
WE WANT MANTI!
WE WANT MANTI!
WE WANT MANTI!
Nice write on Bain. Nice to have a receiver built like a LB. Hope to see him running over a few DB’s this year. Them Gatahs is in trouble!

Finally got a chance to watch the vid LizK linked to. YouTube is blocked at work. Good vid. Soon, the world will see what we saw for 3 years. Go Skins!!
Congrats to Caryn. As a fellow Lostie, please post more in the Lost blog, pretty please?
Hey, HA tekkies, you fixed it once, fix it again. Da right side stuff is all the way below this box. Stop tinkering already. Sheesh.
Back to watching more Shark Week shows.
Hellooooo. Did me and the sharks scare everyone away?
Hi jm2375!
I have some time so I’m going to do my nightly search through the Miami papers for news on Samson, Reagan, and Bess.
Man, in Gainesville it’s already August.
bhf2,
You hear dat- it’s Game Month!
Warriors, baby.
Believe…again!
REALLY bad report on Reagan.
Bess did well in Miami’s redzone drill in practice today.
Henne had 7 plays in their redzone drills.
McCown had 5 plays in their redzone drills.
I forgot to note about that Miami practiced in helmets and full pads for the first time in several days.
Some notes from practice:
Foster and Bess are returning punts and earlier reports said that Foster had a chance to make the team ahead of Bess because of his special teams skills. So, I thought this report was good news for Bess.
Some interesting notes from Miami Herald’s beat writer for the Dolphins. Putting Bess at 6th on the depth chart at WR (7th after Miami signs Glenn) puts Bess in some danger of getting cut. I had thought that Foster was quite a bit below Bess on the depth chart!
LA Times says that BYU has the best chance to be this year’s BCS-buster.
LA Times has Fresno State as the 4th most likely BCS-buster.
Seems like a bunch of Tsaikos may have gone back to the SSC tonight.
Hard to imagine that NMSU hasn’t been in a bowl game since before I was born!
Hey Tsaikos,
Thought everyone would be at the fundraiser…esp u stretch…Chawan keeps sending me stupid pics of the food, wasting my pic texts again…
Free play link time. Please ignore my next 5 posts if you do not want the off-topic stuff.

Drugs found to enable exercise endurance? This could be great for people who need to lose weight…but I bet the first people who will look at using it are athletes. They won’t be able to test for these performance-enhancing drugs at the Olympics (it is a good idea to announce that so that athletes know they can get away with it?), but they will need a test for it soon or a lot of athletes will be using this.
This drug can actually build significantly more high-efficiency muscle fibers in a short period of time.
Dell released a new line of computers today that looks VERY different and significantly reduces electricity usage.
Japanese parents are playing matchmaker for their children, especially since 71.5% of men age 25-29 are unmarried, a huge jump from how 47.1% were unmarried in 1990. 32% of women age 30-34 are single now, where only 16% were single in 1990.

lefty,
Stretch has one “r” and two “t”s
This one is the rocket scientist who’s posting now… 😀
d1shima,
I didn’t realize that the comments were directed towards me! It is funny when Stretch and I e-mail each other because I use his real name and not his blog name.
Koakane,

i was at the Duc’s on MaunaKea St this evening. great comopany, great food.
Hi Garret,
Thanks for all your interesting links.
Still doing research on the parasailing. Typical, they all state the details in a slightly different way, making it difficult to compare. 🙄
Hope everyone else is having a good time at the fundraiser.
Well it’s here game month. So here is this years first Tsaiko weekly pik’s. For those who are new these are the rules.

Hi Pride.!
Actually A-House there have been quite a bit of local players that started as freshmen at BCS schools, although not a lot. Like you said earlier Wayne Apuna was one of them at ASU. More recently, Micah Kia, Kai Maiava, Al Afalava, Jordan Dizon, and JT Mapu. Quite a bit of guys started as redshirt freshmen like Max Unger and Jeremy Perry. I believe that Olin Kreutz and Bern Brostek started as a frehman also. The most impressive player as a freshman would probably have been Jordan Dizon, who was the starting inside backer from his second day of practice as a true-freshman..
I agree with you that for most local players, it would be a benefit to play at home where your chances of starting is probably better than if you did go to a BCS school. Not because the mainland players are better. But simply because the BCS have bigger budgets, long-time traditions, and long football histories. They usually have more depth than Hawaii has. Local players benefit from starting for a number of years which I think prepares them well for the NFL, as opposed to sitting down at a BCS school , and then starting for only one or two years.
Although I must also say that starting at Hawaii has become harder and harder over the last ten years due to the increase in talent and depth. If guys like Jeremy Perry, Max Unger, Shawn Lauvao,
Pomai (seems like old times!)

If guys like Jeremy Perry, Max Unger, Shawn Lauvao, Tavita Thompson, Micah KIa, Sione Tau, and Mike Matamua were at Hawaii….one or more of them wouldn’t start. But all are slated to start at their respective schools.
Hi Liz.
Sorry for the double post.
By the way, when I first saw Max Unger play as a freshman at Oregon, he reminded me of Gary Zimmerman, who became a hall-famer with the Vikings and Broncos. The Ducks have moved Unger from Tackle to Center. I hope has continued success at his new position.
I apologize to those on the beat who would be offended by my posting about a non-Hawaii football player. Although I am a Hawaii fan, I still celebrate the opportunity that our local athletes have to get an education and to experience their sport at the D-1 level, whether at Hawaii or any other school.
Pride. Pretty impressive list there! I really know nothing about football except what I have learned as a fan. It certainly doesn’t compare to the experience perspective one gets as a player.
Each person must make his way with what he has been given- in talent, volition and circumstance. We all seem to get what we need to grow and become better, huh?
Here’s Colt- screwed up early and found redemption and a chance to live his dreams.
Here’s Jordon- sat out his Sr. year to prep for college, had an amazing CU career and screwed up at the end just before the NFL draft.
Both now have something to prove to themselves to make it at this level.
But hey, they are both great guys and we (I) love ’em and want to see them be great human beings no matter what.
Life is interesting. One size does not fit all (my latest litany). Whether people stay near the place they grew up or head out into a bigger world, it’s all about the journey and coming through it a better person.
Nitey nite and sweet dreams!
Wayne Apuna woulda been I unreal baseball player. But on the diamond, Wayne is pretty intense. One of the few I feared when barreling from third to home.
But after the game, another cool guy. After all I must say good people come from Waipahu.
Right, Homey!
Pride:
Good analysis of the D1 local bruddahs. Wherever these bruddahs go, we should be proud of their opportunity to play D1 football and get that degree.
Jones settles but mediation is confidential….ok Ferd, go get’um, freedom of information act needs to be put into action…
Ralph I bet UH comes out on the short end of the stick.

Just looking at the commit list at a scout site, and noticed that JJ has recruited a tightend, has he change his thinking??
Also Bosie got the number 14 in the country WLB, three of the WAC schools do not have any commits at this time, Idaho, New Mexico State and Utah State.
Quite a few big time schools have only a couple of commits so I guess that we are not doing to bad with the five we’ve got so far, and three out of the five are rated as 3 star(but I don’t put to much in the rateings)
Pomai…can anyone play? If I’m able, here’s my pick:
UH 7 – Florida 21
Of coarse, I’m hoping Hawaii wins.
BELIEVE! – Go Warriors!
Hawaii 37 Tebow in lots of pain 34.

Happy Birthday (today?) to Aaron!
A belated Happy Birthday to Mike!
Happy 7th Anniversary to Garret & Lori! (Isn’t it weird that the two UH Warrior football helmets are again linked together – Garret’s, and Mike’s friend’s?)

Thanks to Chawan for the reports and photos, and other funnies.
Congrats to Jim Donovan, and to UH and all of it’s faithful fans!

Good morning Tsaikos!! Happy Friday! 😀
Hope you all had a great time last night at the fundraiser. How much money was raised?
My nephew played on the line (both ways) with Max Unger at HPA. For such a small team (in size & number), they held their own against their BIIF competition. Got spanked by Castle at the state tournament (before they had DII). Didn’t know who he was at the time and I was focused on my nephew, so … Plus, I know nothing about the nuances of playing each position.
Time for my daily trip over the mountain. Back to school (clothes) shopping and laundry tomorrow. We’ll see about Sunday. Hubby leaves tomorrow nite for SD.
Have a great weekend.
PS Pomai – UH 35 FL 38. Still hoping Warriors win. Just being a tad realistic.
Good Morning to da Village!
Goooooood mornining Tsaikos here and around the world. Went to the north country for a week and all kinds of things are happening. Super!!! A House caught all the fishes in the north country, so had to settle for CRABS!!
Pride, got to add one guy named Rockne and another name, Sam Harris.
Aloha Tsaikos!
POMAI- UH 41 FL 38. The gators will run out of gas in the 4th quarter. That’s my story and i’m sticking to it!
What’s this I hear about JJ and UH settling their dispute?
ST- what’s da skoops???
What!??!! whitey AND uhfan808 both got CRABS!!!??? 😯 😯 😯 😆
BTW – Suzuki and Victorino are still playing well and hitting too! 😀
brew808, i think i neva wash my hands after going to the toilet cause neva catch one salmon, but caught plenty pohaku fish, including alyeska. my other theory is that A House caught all the fish.
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
I wonder who gave it to who
welcome back whitey!!
whitey – My buddies are catching plenty of 15-30# halibut in the SF bay. Supposedly, they don’t eat in the bay – so they should be safe to saute’! They use to go for salmon – but that’s banned. I wish they’d go back to diving for abs! 😀

I heard that sometimes whitey straddles the “dark-side” (Stretch would know…..), but I thought uhfan808 was pure as fresh fallen snow…. 😀
whitey I think that must be a first!!!! amazing neva catch.
if any tsaikos are looking for another option to get to the Seattle area, try Alaska Airlines. plane is similar to aloha, but has more seats. the flight time is about 5 1/2 hours and the brew (808????) is very good. they serve both alaska and kona made beers. our flight attendent home was nappy napoleon, one good braddah.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
okeydokey…
Who’s in your five? Intriguing rookies
“3. Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii (Washington): The most prolific passer in college history went 186th in the draft. There are knocks on his size, recent injuries and mostly the fact that he was in a run and shoot system that many believe inflated his numbers. But his numbers were so eye-popping (he accounted for 31 NCAA records and more than 14,000 yards of offense) that you have to take notice. He is not expected to get much playing time but what happens in his career will be worth watching.”
http://blogs.usatoday.com/gameon/2008/08/whos-in-your-fi.html
brew, no get me in trouble with uhfan808 cause she is one nice young lady. you right about she is fresh snow. me, i go places where i not suppose to go, but the “sound of music” affects my brain. funny thing you should say mentions abs. be something if a group of people start protesting that the abs are threatened or may become history in the bay area because no one controls the sea otters. that would be a kick in the rear.
pomai, not the first time, but i always have more fun and memories from each trip. with that said, i going back to the north country next month, but going to one different place. this place i going to get BIG CRABS, but i got to worry about the BIGGER CRABS who have moved into my BIG CRAB country.
ok, got to go to meet my breakfast gang at jacks.

“*Zorn broke down what he expects his quarterback rotation to be Sunday. Jason Campbell will play the first series or two and Todd Collins will finish the first half. Colt Brennan will start the second half and is likely to give way to Derek Divine, but Zorn said he could leave Brennan in if things are going well and let Devine be the No. 3 guy next week.”
Mahalo everyone! I am proud that the Dawgs beat out some good teams for the pre-season top ranking. But time will tell.
Pomai, I’ll check out the tsaikos site more often. I am starting to get excited about football. We are already planning the first tailgate party.
whitey- I love to eat crabs!!! Deadliest Catch is one of my fave shows too! Hope you brought some home!
I agree about Alaska Air. Has a “dakine” feel about it too.

Colt has a video interview… people are shouting at him from the peanut gallery!
http://www.redskins.com/news/newsDetail.jsp?id=36944
Colt’s Blog is updated.
“I’m excited to go out there and play. I don’t feel too nervous. Right now, my focus is on trying to get the play formations memorized–that’s something we’re responsible for during the game.
Coming up on my first preseason game, I thought I’d be a lot more nervous. But I don’t really feel that. I think that’s a good thing.
I’m buckling down these next couple days [before Sunday] to memorize everything. That’s the key for me. If I have everything memorized, I’ll feel comfortable out there. If I’m comfortable, I’ll be confident and I’ll have fun. “
Hiya Merv!
On his video, Colt makes a comment about hearing the plays coming through… shades of the Senior Bowl.
Zorn has a video up too and it is clear that he is giving his rookies as much playing time as possible to get them used to the pace of an NFL game.
He talks a bit about Colt – and how he has improved.
My thought is- Colt wiil throw (before the game). And then he will be AWRIGHT!
Re: Colt being nervous
Wouldn’t it be CLASSIC if Colt takes the field for his first play and right before heading into the huddle to give out the play, he lifts his helmet and throws up!!!
Eh….. @ 7:41a – did Stretch and Liz say the same thing??? – You guys have been hanging out too much together…… 🙄 😆 🙄
Hi Stretch! – Just out of curiosity, how long were you a JrBow? I wen start in 4th grade and was in orchestra, so spent almost everyday at the Elem School building. sniffle sniffle. 😥
Merv,
You probably saw that Georgia is ranked number 1 in the USA Today coaches poll, but thought I would post it anyway. Florida is 5th.

Hey WreckinEyez,
I saw your blog back on July 31st about Freddie Shaka! I am looking for the record for my father. I remember when I was a kid he played it for me. And I just moved here to maui to help him out. And he played it for me again. So I thought I’d look for it for him. Have you found it? I found the one website that lists his name, but they did not have it at the time. My father however does have a cassette he recorded from a friend way back when. If you’d like a copy, I’m sure we can try to copy it and send it to you. Let me know, either way, take care.
