Head cases
The past couple of days, the Rainbow Warriors have had their heads examined.
It’s actually part of a method that will be helpful in diagnosing future concussions. Each player will undergo several tests, including those measuring quickness in reading comprehension and reflexes. The results are known as base lines.
If a player later suffers an impact to the head that results in dizziness, nausea or other such concussion-like symptoms, he will undergo similar tests. The results of the post-impact tests will be compared against the base lines. The degree of disparity will be factored in determining whether a concussion has occurred.
There were a few players who suffered possible concussions last season, most notably quarterback Sean Schroeder.
Tight end Josh Long suffered a concussion from a skateboarding accident two months ago. He has healed completely.

Congratulations to former UH student manager Kyle Kamau, who will be joining the Philadelphia Eagles as an assistant equipment manager.
Kamau was an intern with the Houston Texans last year.
Go warriors!!
Go Rainbow Warriors!
Keep your head in the game!
All posters should have their heads examined to established a baseline for fanaticism!
Let’s Go Bows!
Let’s Go Bows!
Let’s Go Bows!
GOOD MORNING HAWAII!
Thought ST was referring to our persistent spammer in his title for today.
Concussions are serious situation now. Football is a collision sport to say the least. The long term effects are literally rearing their ugly heads and it is a sad situation for many players of the past. Great policy to have a pre-determination of mental status for all athletes! Be safe all!
Is it game time yet?
Haka:
Good points.
ST,
You’ve seen UH practice. What are your expectations for the team this year?
Imua warriors!
In chow I trust!
In Taylor Graham I trust!
In the O-line I trust!
Best USC!!!!!!!
They can’t set the bar too low. Uh has to show their fans a lot of improvement.
so anybody find out who the mystery DE transfer is?
d1: from “yesterday”, You call homey and bring the blindfold and I’ll bring the inflatable pool filled with beer and I’m in!
I don’t know about expectations or predictions, but UH will be well represented at the MWC Media Preview next week.
Taylor Graham and Saui Matagiese are good ambassadors.
How much longer can the UH athletic department continue to lose money? What will happen if this continues? Maybe cut some other sports?
Concussion: spooky stuff. Good to hear UH being proactive about it.
Perhaps UH could take it a step further and have former UH and college players with noted concussions to volunteer themselves to be examined and monitored. Niners offer such a program that reaches out to any former NFL players who live in and around the bay area to have regular check ups to monitor their health and well being.
Happy Aloha (Furlough) Friday!
I believe all HS athletes in certain sports must undergo baseline concussion testing prior to EACH season. Glad to see UH is finally doing it. Has the NCAA mandated it yet?
swoosh – almost all athletic departments lose money. Only a select few actually make money or break even. UH can’t cut other sports without jeopardizing Title IX compliance or it’s DI status.
thanks jm2375
Great Morning All!
Good move by UHAD.
Will testing be included for all UHAD teams? I heard a mention that many concussions occur in Womens’/Girls’ Soccer.
I am just concerned because UH lost a record amount of money after moving to a bigger better conference
No can test Tsaikos.
My unnahstanning is there needs to be measurable brain activity in order to inititate…
heheheh 😈
If UH gets 4 wins this year will people be happy about that? Is that considered progress?
How is the player doing who got hurt when he reached for a sandwich?
#17,
I understand that most athletic departments lose money. But what is UH going to do to prevent losing record amounts every year?
@24,
The same damn thing every other school that loses money is doing. Finding new sources of revenue, finding ways to cut cost, praying.
#25,
You forgot the most important thing. Winning!
A lot of athletes in high school will not tell their coaches or trainers of their injuries and act like they’re OK because of the guidelines that they have to go through to get back on the field. This is an unfortunate part of coaching because you cannot know how serious the injury is if they don’t let you know. The kids just want to play and, with their immaturity, will do almost anything to not sit out. Having the high school trainers at each athletic event and available for practices was the best thing done to high school sports. Unfortunately, as time goes by, the kids are finding ways to get around such.
Who thinks this kid Taylor is our quarterback for the future? He has got to have a Colt Brennan type of year for us the be successful.
The culture of the program has changed over the last year
I am worried that if we are not successful this year, we will be another UNLV or Wyoming. Programs nobody wants to be a part of.
The athletic department is debt-free.
Apple assumed the accumulated deficit.
So, no, all of the sports programs are safe.
4 wins would work for me
USC L

@Nevada L

U never know though we could lose more or win more, I just want to see progress, some close physical games
Dating to the Garden of Eden, we all have free will.
If you wish to support the program, support the program.
If not, you don’t have to support it.
ST ~ WORD!
Good morning to all.
Happy Aloha Friday!!!
#32,
I agree with you ST, but how many people are going to support a team that loses? That’s why ticket sales are down. UH has to win games to gain support. Bottom line.
hear ye. hear ye. mr tsai.
Are these the tests UH is administering?
Good Morning Tsaikos!!!
Grats to Kyle Kamau….
Yep, concussions are a serious thing and being takenmore seriously today than they were back in the day.
Gramps, didn’t you guys use leather helmets back then??? LOL 🙂
#20, D1, that’s true…especially at a T-gate…. 🙂
#38,
Lol!
so did the mystery de and his grandma enjoy the trip to UH?
dc:
Why worry about others?
You’re in charge of your own happiness and entertainment.
UH football is not going away.
Besides, it’s always good to buy low. Then in 10 years, you can be one of those guys who says: “Hey, I was a fan even when the team went 3-9 in Chow’s first year.”
If UH averages 28 points a game but only wins 3 games, I feel its a big improvement over last year. Even in JJ’s down years the offense put up some points. You got to keep the fans attention and offense does just that.
I want to know how many wins people expect this year. 3,4,5. Is mediocrity the norm at UH now?
Jm:
I’m not sure of the specific name of the test.
Then again, I have had three concussions in my life, which might explain a lot.
I just want to know how many user names somebody will use.
C’mon, buddy, at least use a different computer at the library.
silly boy…
tsai knows…
tsai knows…
ST,
I respect you man and I want this program to succeed. But if UH keeps going 3-9 every year, you might be the only one in the stands still cheering.
ST: you mean trey/dc?
I just want to see excitement on the field. I’m not hard to please.
Hmmm, how many different names should I post under today? Am I missing something as I don’t see the reason for doing that and the satisfaction it brings.
Hey idiot multiple name poster, you must get off on doing this. Could you share the reason why so maybe I can understand it????
#27 dj: remember, in Colt’s 1st season, we only won 5 games.
No can hide writing styles and formats.
53. Warrior Dave: the multiple poster’s “clever” way to beat a dead horse.
GO Warriors! These boys are working SO hard this summer. They BELIEVE they will win games. Let’s believe with them. Think positive thoughts. Be safe boys – and make us proud!
so that means concussions not recorded in the past i.e. pop warner, bantam, high school leagues concussions plays into baseline as well? I dunno about this test….seems inaccurate generally speaking. Like saying, we do what we can to protect players but it is still work in progress.
Speaking if head, stupid joke Friday.
Your head is so big you need a mattress as a pillow.
A chicken head rolls into a bar and orders a shot of tequila, gulps it down and out pops 2 wings. So he orders another shot and lo and behold out pops two skinny chicken legs. He’s so happy he runs outside and tries to cross the road to get to the other side but gets run over and becomes roadkill. The Tsaiko at the bar says, “He should have stopped while he was a head”.
#56, you’re right.
So if someone asks the same question or makes the same comment under 3 different names doesn’t make it more important or clever to me. Such low self esteem to have to do multiple different name posts to make yourself feel more important.
The pre-concussion tests have been in place at the OIA schools for several years now. Have a son who helps with the athletic training staff at a local high school and concussions has been a hot topic with the newer trainers coming in the field including at UH.
Good Morning Gangeez!
Good to see UHAD being proactive regarding concussions. In order for the sport of Football to survive, the issue of concussions will have to be addressed on all levels of the game, from Pop Warner on up.
Had my first concussion at six. Lost count of how many times since then.
jtl –
ROTFLMAO! Good one!
I will compliment this team like crazy if we go 10-2 or 9-3. But lets look at reality and give some constructive criticism when its do. How does a 3-9 season not warrant that? How does the past 5 seasons not warrant that?
Our schedule now days is way harder than the soft WAC days……people need to put that into perspective
Whoa. Cuz, nevah see you long time now.
Ahhh…DPK, that explains it….MWAHAHAHAHA
#69,
What part of your criticisms have been constructive?
Yes let’s look at reality, we are rebuilding with a coach in his second season with a new offense and defense with A very tough schedule……..reality is I will support the team no matter what, there will be frustrating moments and moments that make u proud to be a UH fan, go warriors!
#73,
The UH offense need to open it up more. Pass the ball more and use the width of the field to its advantage. Double tight set is to old school. UH will not succeed if we continue to try the ground and pound approach. We were dead last if offense and defense last year. Our offense was fine in the run n shoot. I hope Chow looks back at that tape. We have the receivers and quarterback to score more. It’s up to Price and Chow to be more creative.
A big Aloha shout out to one the original Tsaikos – bulla! Convoy of Hope is bringing the Lord’s love down on the Friendly Isle of Moloka’i this weekend in a big way.
Mahalo to our brother and all of those who make this tremendous event possible!

A crazy schedule.Who made this
Schedule should be fired.
Win lose draw I support the

In chow I trust!!!!!
*clap clap* miracles can happen *clap*
wonder how Georgia Tech will do this season as well as SMU…
#70,
I hear you, but why would changing coaching staffs take an adequate offense and defense and turn it into dead last? UH never had a great defense, and never will because we can’t recruit the kind of speed that is needed for a good defense. But at least in years past we had the offense to keep pace with other teams and even win games. If a team scored 28, UH scored 35. Now with Chow’s offense, it relies on having a good defense, and this is what Chow doesn’t understand. This isn’t UCLA, USC, Utah. UH isn’t going to grind out wins with anyone. UH can recruit a good quarterback and maybe a couple quick receivers. Use them to your advantage.
Go Navy!
Go Army!
Beat Air Force!
Go Rainbow Warriors…crush UC silly.
Shallack ’em
Whack ’em!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey KK and AJoe…just sent you guys an e-mail.
It’s simple to me.
I love Hawaii.
I am proud of Hawaii.
I love football.
UH football is Hawaii’s team.
I am proud of Hawaii football.
Support builds programs.
I support Hawaii’s team unconditionally.
Hawaii football needs support.
No support. No cry.
I love Hawaii football.
Let’s Go Rainbow Warriors!
There are sooo many smart people who write here. Wow, if there is ever a vacancy on coaching staffs at UH, some of these folks should submit their resumes and hopefully get the call. That way there would be no second guessing.
Folks grumbled like heck when Tomey was successful with a crazy good defense. They wanted more points on the board. When he left some of the folks were really happy that he was leaving and that the next coach would change things around. It worked for a while and then Wag’s teams were not so successful. People were not happy and so much so that the AD must have heard and off went Wags. There was the replacement, coach V and people just loved the fact that he was so open to suggestions. But he could not get wins, even with fan suggestions.
In came the messiah, JJ and he was all offense. People initially liked that and the fact that he threw it all over the field. Even when winning, people whined, no enough defense. How come we don’t run it in from inside the 20? We need a tight end. JJ didn’t listen and even when he played the best local QB we had in years, people jumped on JJ and booed the QB when he had a rough outing.
He left then came coach Mac. People were happy that he ran it more, but he too had trouble on both sides of the ball (remember UNLV and other 2nd half fades?). People grumbled that he did not do enough to recruit and keep local talent (remember that QB now at Oregon?) so people grumbled again.
Oh yeah, everytime folks grumble, they lament over the fact that this coach’s predecessor was sooo much better than the current one. Huh? weren’t you the folks who were not happy with the previous coach for numerous reasons? Oh, selective memory. My bad.
So now we are here and people who weren’t happy with Mac got the change but are unhappy (we could not land Saban, Stoops, Kelley or their clones) with our present coach.
Why, because he could not win instantly, like JJ, (but you were once unhappy because he could not run it in from inside the 20, and his defense was not good and he did not have that tight end, and….).
Fans…you got to love ’em.
Nice to see so many familiar names here today! 🙂
Aloha all you Tsai-kos ~ I just wanted to let everybody know that the Rainbow Bay Marina Cabanas have been reserved for all the football tailgates. We will be in Cabana A for the USC, Fresno State, San Jose State, Colorado State, and San Diego State. We will be in Cabana B for Army. As a reminder, the general gameplan remains the same as previous year: early crew shows up about 9:00, grill crew starts about 10:30 or so, clean up will begin about 90 minutes prior to kick-off. And of course we’ll be back after the game to clean up any leftovers and discuss the game. The ‘password’ remains the same. ALL Tsai-kos are welcome. Feel free to e-mail me at jboster(at)yahoo.com with any questions.
SailorBlue – thanks to you and Mrs. SB for all you do for us Tsaikos!
Ipu Man,
I think SMU is going to be a really interesting team to watch this year. It’s gonna be crazy to see Hal Mumme’s influence to the Run n Shoot…
They killed Fresno in last year’s Hawaii Bowl…
#77: Watch this year’s defense. I guarantee you’ll change your mind. Never say never. BELIEVE!!
#81,
True, but if you watch the games you will see that you need to score the ball to win. You can only be successful in the power I and running the ball if you have a good defense. UH doesn’t have the talent to play the field position game that relies on constant stops, putting your offense in good field position.
UH was at its best passing the ball. And smaller programs will continue to be relevant if they chuck it around. Remember this is UH, not Stanford or Alabama. Not even Boise State.
Chow, the players and fans have to understand UH is working with less talent, less resources, and geographic isolation, and always will. A no huddle, passing offense will help mitigate this problem
UH will be able to keep games closer if we can score on more possessions. Passing is the only option
The testing should begin with the regents. The decisions coming from the board suggest some of these guys if not all of them need to get their heads examined.
Do we really need a so-called obesity expert at $300k/year at the med school?
Do we really need coaches at $1 mill per year?
Do we really need to continue raising tuition so we price out of a higher education the poor and the needy?
Do we really need to spend $284 k to study why we lost $200k?
That’s just the beginning.
I think our our offense will be on all gears next year once the newbies get a year under their belts. This year, I think Kaumeyer’s defense is going to be a force to reckon with.
Trey- Have some faith brah. Stop being the typical whiner that complains about everything and offers no solution.
Come out to the practices. Talk to the coaches and players. Learn and understand how and why Chow runs his offense.
When your best solution is “be more creative” kind of hard to take you seriously.
Go easy brah. Keep da faith.
BTW- How come all those “Von Appen Years” crybabies no can handle one 3-9 season?
Whimps!
#90,
I just wish we still had Rolo or JJ as OC. Remember how good our offense was, and how we were in every game. It’s hard to keep faith when your team is last in offense, and the OC you hire has the same mindset as Chow.
It’ll be a progressive year if we can watch the game for all 4 quarters and see competitive football being played by UH. I don’t think Graham needs Colt’s numbers, but I do think the running game will have to step up considering the depth of that core.
#91,Von Appen years are history. We are in a new era of football.
It will be interesting to see what Chow does with offense the this year. And I can’t wait to see all of your reactions. But you have to admit, a no huddle passing offense, or at least 4 wide shotgun is our best option
Why keep bringing up the past and comparing past regimes if it’s “history”?
With a name like “trey” maybe you should stick to basketball because you’re only going to get us field goals.
JJ and Rolo are history. We are in a new era of football. 🙄
Remember before the 2010 season, everyone picked UH to be last in the conference?
Just curious, how many returning starters do we have on this team?
I think (if Kaumeyer figured out how to stop the option) we’ll be much, much better…
das funny
A penguin walks up to a chicken and asks, “Have you seen my brother?”
The chicken looks at the penguin and says, “What does he look like?”
The UH commercial says 18 returning starters if I am not mistaken.
Good morning everyone!
Ahhh…to read the blog and see Koamahu and Koamahu’s Cuz back! Footballs are in the air. You three rock!
…and hello to long-time Alabama residing Tsai-ko ainbama at comment #6! Long time!
95. Our best option is to support the program 100% so we can recruit the “horses” to match up w/ our opponents. It doesn’t what kind of offense you have. What matters is being able to do it well & having the right guys to execute it.
But if Chow don’t show some marketable improvement in the next two years, the new chapter might be the old chapter sooner than we think. Remember, we are in a WIN NOW era.
BIK
#103,
I respectfully disagree. UH cannot recruit “horses”, never have never will. Play calling plays a larger role when you have inferior talent. And there is 6 other teams in the MWC that have more talent than UH. UH will lose is we try to grind it out with them. But there are five other teams than UH can beat, and I expect them to.
Trey,
Maybe, respectfully, you should go to practice and tell the players that they are inferior and aren’t, and never will be good enough. Could be inspirational.
#110,
It is the reality. To make up for their weakness pass the ball more, put it into the quick receivers hands and run 4 or 5 wide shotgun. That will keep UH in more games
Being that I lack any Division I head coaching experience, I think I’ll defer to Coach Chow to determine what’s the best way to make up for our “weaknesses”. I’m pretty sure he has a decent idea of what our players can and cannot do.
Perhaps I should check in to the nearest Holiday Inn Express for the night…
Reality…wow, now there’s a concept.
Wow this guy Trey must be a football guru….but what happens when they sniff the passing game out? Maybe we go 8 wide receivers 2 down lineman and 1 running/throwing quarterback…..Trey you genius, no one ever thought what you thinking……you should coach braddah
Debunking flawed arguments.
Common argument #1 (heard here often). “I have never coached football therefore I am not qualified to comment about what should be done to improve the team’s record.”
This argument presupposes: (a) you need to have been a coach to comment knowledgeably; (2) if you have not coached, you are not qualified to comment. [The unspoken intent behind this argument from the speaker to the target of the comments – you should shut the BEEP up]
As any moron knows, including those whose only experience at rhetoric is having participated in high school debate, you don’t need to be a:
– commercial fisherman to know how to fish or comment about how to fish;
– a chef in some fancy restaurant to comment knowledgeably about how to cook good food;
– a world heavyweight boxing champ to to the above;
– a football coach to comment knowledgeably about how a team can improve its performance
Only requirement to comment knowledgeably about the game, changes to be made, etc., is that you be a student of the game and love the game.
Tired of hearing the same weak argument about how if you haven’t coached at the D1 level, you should shut the BEEP up. A tired and weak argument at best.
This trey guy is very similar to spam – makes no sense, makes us mad, needs to be ignored.
Mahalo SailorBlue!
#88…actually, undergrad at UH is very cheap when compared to similar state schools around the country. If I’m not mistaken, just looking at California, in state tuition for most schools in the UC system is around $12,000 to $13,000. The Cal State system averages about $7,000 plus a year (around $14,000 to $16,000 when other fees, books, housing, and such are factored in).
UH’s in state tuition is $4,500 for the 2013-2014 school year.
Just saying…
Thanks SailorBlue….almost time for the first T-gate….Woo Hoo…
I place trust and faith in the football team. One simple reason. They put faith and trust in the Hawaii program. Taylor Graham is one of the best QB prospects we have seen in many years. NFL size. NFL arm. NFL pedigree. NFL smarts? We shall see. If we can give him time, expect good things from the offense. We have talent to compete. This year will be better. 2014 looks even better.
Rodney, Noio, Buffoman, Haka, etc. Props. You guys are spot on. Any program is built on the fans. No fans, no program. Not even the top schools would survive w/o fans. UH has a better team this year than last. Doubters will doubt. Haters will hate.
Trey is trolling. Try to ignore him. Hopefully, ST deletes him.
Not to start and argument, but the comments often heard about UH football not being able to recruit the necessary talent (horses) to compete against the big boys might have been fairly accurate at one time…due mainly to the distance and lack of family and friends to regularly see their boy play and communicate face to face.
That is not the case today. The new TV packages, the internet carriers as well as a general growing understanding that geography poses less problems today in communication than ever before.
A guy comes here from the east coast, mom and dad get to see and talk with him nearly everyday on skype or any one of a number of social video applications. The mantra of ‘Poor UH can’t recruit people far from home’ is being shattered by Chow and staff as we speak, and as far as I’m concerned, its about damn time! When Chow was asked at his first news conference by the media if he thought he could compete with the big schools he replied ‘sure, why not’. Thats the stuff success is made of, not the soothsayers who only see the glass half full and still draining.
Everyone seems to want to be a coach or an expert today.
My friend, Coach Aristotle (Athean Zeus Lightling) says: για να κερδίσετε, να σκοράρει περισσότερο από τον άλλο τύπο
(To win, score more than the other guy)
It’s Tommui!
Trey said it best – “True, but if you watch the games you will see that you need to score the ball to win.”
Ok, time to argue with trolls…
Trey and Lucky and whoever else….
Why do you spend your time reading a Blog about a team you think isn’t good?
The sock puppets are alive ….
Good afternoon!
Looks like it is time for someone to darn some socks and do his laundry.
I am so sick of UH fans talking about JJ. Sick of the radio show letting him call in. The dude left us. THE EX GIRLFRIEND IS GONE AND HOOKING UP WITH YOUR BESTFRIEND….get over it. Stop feeding it. Next time JJ calls HANG UP THE PHONE.
Trey does have a point though…dj, scoot, swooosh, shaka, swoosh, and dc1234 all seem to agree.
SailorBlue..Thanks! See you at the first tgate.
JJ I think tuition is double that or so in #118! I am paying now…
Imua warriors!
I think if we didn’t run the ball
last year and shorten the clock
we might have lost those games
by a substantially larger margin
especially with our d line being
depleted.
I trust Chow & coaches!!!!!
Not supporting whomever Trey is, but he is correct that we need to be more imaginative on offense to get the desired results: WINS
I’m sure Chow is smart enough to realize he needs to win to be successful and bring in more fans. If we continue to lose decisively and not be competitive, we will lose the fans…
I will still be in the stands as I’ve been for over 30 years, but nobody wants to see us lose without giving the other team a “hard rub.” I’m hoping we throw everything, including the kitchen sink against our opponents to win games…This is a critical time, as only the wining programs will survive the various conference restructuring…
Chow knows how to open it up on
offense.We just didn’t have the
speed.Danachie being suspended
didn’t help us too.Hope he gets a shot
in Pro ball.Any word on his chances?
I think it’s kind of weird having June Jones coming back to Hawaii every off season and all of the media coverage he still gets. Kind of like an ex boyfriend who keeps lurking about family gatherings of his former girlfriend. Just my opinion.
It is all about hope.
June Jones gave us hope.
Lots of razzle dazzle.
With all the “new” BCS schools, there aren’t enough “horses” to go around. Yes, UH can recruit the “horses”, but not enough at once to pull the wagon uphill. If all of the best players we can recruit stay healthy, we have a chance of doing well… if not,
What’s our mascot for next season?
How about the “uhu”… make thousands of them like those Boy’s day carps… make kites, fly em around the stadium and in the stadium before the game… sell em as souvenirs… Then next year when Boy’s day rolls around and people see all the colorful carp.. they will think about the Warriors.
Right now need to watch out for the color “carp” on the blog.
Congratulations to Kamau!
You learn a lot of stuff staying at a Holiday Inn Express. Like giving suggestions to a brain surgeon on a better way to remove abnormal brain tissue.
Nice idea, mih, but make it a humuhumuyouknowwhatImean…
What do fishes ride in on a golf course?
A golf carp.
Good to hear about the head cases…
Go Rainbow Warriors!
To Trey his opinions make a lot of sense. To others they make no sense. It’s poster like Trey that add to the entertainment value of this blog.
Unpopular opinions always seem to draw quick rebuttal. When the person defends his opinions the number of post rise significantly. Many of the rebuttals are imaginative and quite humorous.
To infer Troy is a troll is uncalled for. It’s an insult to Steve and CG who really know what trolling is all about.
Thanks Sailor Blue! I’ll be there when we open the season and beat USC! Hugs to da Mrs.!
“and we beat USC” that should read. 😳

d1,
RE: concussion checks for other sports.
That would be the RIGHT and PONO thing to do.
Just as fudging reports for a public law that President Richard Nixon signed into effect on June 23, 1972 to save money is NOT RIGHT and NOT PONO.
Lively blog conversations last couple days. Sounds like folks are coming down with some football fever.
Anyway, I think the drama from the occasional disgruntled fan is better than any hype video to get us excited for the season to start. Gets the emotional juices flowing!
Have a great weekend, folks. Its going to be another hot one!
Yup, the natives are restless. The need for pigskin to quell the hunger pangs of the unknown can bring out the worst of the best. Consumed by lust and pushed hard to hatred, the once calm souls drip of blood, reek of sweat and fall with tears. Hands to throats, they strangle their swings of mood and mute the voices of reason. When? When will the madness end? When? And then….before they know what has be felled their eyes…the echo of a whistle in the wind gives rise to a standing hope…that be…that is…FOOTBALL!
Ok, I am off to the shrink to get my head checked….which is better than getting checked in to get my head shrunk…if you know what I mean.
it’s interesting that there are a few persons out there that dislike coach Jones, when in fact he helped Hawai’i football to achieve its highest level to date. Wins against Michigan State, Purdue, Oregon St, WAC blowout victories, etc. Coach Jones is a great friend of Coach Tomey. Both own homes here, and it will cool when Coach Jones retires here, just like Coach Tomey. Coach Jones is also a great colleague of Hawai’i football head coach Chow.
as the UH AD “loses money” the UH general fund grows by leaps and bounds.
Wot u talkin bout, us guys git plenty measurable brain activity – plate to mout movement at da tailgate……..

Couldn’t have said it any better haka…U DA MAN!!!
BEAT USC!!!
The same person asking for the return of Rolo is the same one who advocated dumping the staff in 2011. Yep, like I said, Sybil needs to use a different computer. Lol.
#35
Sorry Doc but I somewhat disagree. Winning matters but it is not everything. In 2007 we were winning games but we did not have one sellout. The official records may claim we soldout a few games, but those that attended know there were more than a few empty seats. Back then I scratched my head asking what more does the team have to do to fill Aloha Stadium. IMHO today’s fans see the value of pay-per-view. And for families ppv is a bargain. Today’s fans want to watch the game with digital picture and digital sound on their 60″ LCD TVs, not have to sit in traffic, not have to pay $6-8 for a beer, and not have to eat subpar concession food. They also have to realize there are two types of football fans. The fans that drink alcohol and the fans that do not. Build a high tech sky bar for the fans that want the digital experience and want to drink during the game. To be family friendly create an alcohol free section.
