Broadcast Music Inc. reports that the most popular song at NFL games is Queen’s “We Will Rock You.” For baseball, it’s Rose Royce’s “Car Wash.” Whatever happened to Rose Royce?

RAINBOW WAHINE SOFTBALL VS
Nebraska approx 3:30pm HAWAII TIME
Syracuse approx 6:pm HAWAII TIME
On offense while Miah plays within the structure that Arnold has developed Miah brings uncertainty to to opposing defenses. Knowing which play UH wants to run and not knowing what Miah will do (within the system) leaves enough doubt in the defenders mind that they begin to play tentative. Add his speed to the formula and you have the defense playing on their heels. Not putting down anyone, but when Miah is in there it appears everyone plays faster on offense, less standing around and things start to happen. Miah’s approach to offense is exactly what the doctor ordered, That’s basketball.
On defense Miah gives up height but is able to make up for that with aggressive body on body not giving up ground type play. Miah is a good example why basketball players need to hit the weight room, the wider and stronger you are the bigger you play.
What do you believe Miah brings………………..
Live stats always available at http://www.hawaiiathletics.com.
Just scroll down towards the bottom of the front page to the “upcoming schedule” section and the live stats button will be available when it’s closer to game time.
Nebraska and Syracuse’s sites may offer gametracker, but it tends to freeze up more often than the live stats.
No live streaming anywhere on anyone’s site.

I was watching the post game interview with Stephanie Ricketts at http://www.hawaiiathletics.com and suddenly I realized that the one thing I was interested in seeing develop this season is taking place as I type this… heck, it may have developed months ago.
I wrote about how leadership would take this team to the WCWS again as it was the foundation of why we even went last season. We had so many seniors in prime playing positions last season, it was natural and the seniors did a great job of keeping the newbies focused. The talent was there last season, but as in all sports, they need guidance and focus.
This season wouldn’t have been different. The returning talent is there and the new talent has great potential and some are already showing it, but who was going to step up and lead this team from the dugout?
As Ricketts described the hours leading up to yesterday’s game, she described how she had to really kind of almost separate herself mentally from the “distractions of playing against her sister”. Ricketts didn’t go into detail, but her focus and her teammates focus was monumental in keeping calm.
As “losthawaiian” described on the blog late last night, he was in person to witness the game and saw two different teams. One poised and focused and one trying to put out fires.
I didn’t want to name specific names as to who I personally thought could lead the team, but I did mention that Stephanie Ricketts “should” naturally be one of them.
As a freshman brought here in 2009 to develop as a pitcher and to compete at 1st base, she was born under fire in the pitching circle amidst injuries to fellow pitchers Baughman and Gonzalez. She was the workhorse in her first year of D1 competition, went to the WCWS the following season, and here we are today.
I don’t know who are the individuals stepping up to lead the team and quite frankly it doesn’t really matter who it is. There is no way it’s just one player though. The team is too close for that to happen. There are many, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was ALL of them in their own ways.
Leadership manifests itself in many ways. Last season it was obvious, you knew who they were. This season it may not be so evident and obvious, but the main thing is that it is there.
Poor Oklahoma. Rated 6th in the nation. Lost to Georgia, Hawaii, and now Long Beach State. Will take a sharp drop in rankings this coming Tuesday. Only two runs in three games, this from a team that was averaging .399 and has the leading home run hitter in the nation.
Much aloha to Florida Ted.
fla ted…you made us memories.
Nebraska just defeated BYU 4-3. NEB is 1-0 and the lady Cougars dropped to 0-3 in the Palm Springs Classic.
tom mui,
Just came back to site.
Edwards HR streak has ended. BYU was the opponent.
Hard times for MWC softball right now…
Dang. Was counting on our win against OU to really help our RPI, but losing to LBSU doesn’t help us.
Might not really hurt us as well, but still…
Florida Ted- God Bless!
Go Wahine!
coach Grasso might have been looking ahead to the later game with UCLA and holding Keilani.
It is becoming clear, at least in this Tournament, that the sooners are a one-pitcher team.
Still, Oklahoma was hitting .399 as a team prior to the Georgia game and since then their bats have chilled. It would be kool to see them explode against UCLA. This season is up for grabs, should be fun.
Mai Poina Florida Ted. Aloha mein Freund, wollen wir Sie auf dem WB verpassen.
Viel Liebe ‘n Aloha auf die “Florida” Ohana sowie.
Along with all the above, I miss the email exchanges with Ted because he allowed me to exercise my limited knowledge of the German language, and taught me more.
Fresno State beat Virginia earlier 4-1. Hawaii plays VIRG in today’s DH nightcap.
Was there a change?
I thought we don’t play Virginia until tomorrow?
Kazz- “I don’t know who are the individuals stepping up to lead the team and quite frankly it doesn’t really matter who it is. There is no way it’s just one player though. The team is too close for that to happen. There are many, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was ALL of them in their own ways.
Leadership manifests itself in many ways. Last season it was obvious, you knew who they were. This season it may not be so evident and obvious, but the main thing is that it is there.”
This applies to all of our teams. Mahalo to the Wahine SoftBows for presenting a picture of what this kind of unity looks like and feel like. It is easier to maintain once you feel it and win with it.
GO *.Bows!
I cant say if Stephanie Ricketts is the defacto leader for the wahine this year–but Stephanie definitely is growing just by her comments and her performances thus far. She has had glory days and games she would soon prefer to forget. Indeed, the later, is a sign of maturity and leadership.
Witness her cat-bouce after beeing shellacked by Oregon and her approach to the game with Oklahoma, as cited by posters herein.
This team is developing its own personalty and chemistry and you have to believe there are six to seven players providing a committee-type tempo and leadership–Ricketts is one of them. I also like what Kelly is doing as well as Jenna, Jess, Melissa and Aquirre. They are the veterans and dynamic energy-force that permeates this wahine team. They have been there, done that and play with swagger and short-memory.
They not only lift the team but support each other and each makes unique contribution.
kazz, sorry, i stand corrected. as you said, we play virg tomorrow–syracuse in today’s nightcap.
#18 Kazz – Beautiful post – great writing – a great pep talk for the girls, coaches, AND us!
Fresno State beat Virginia 4-1 this morning. UH plays Virginia tomorrow.
Long Beach State beat Oklahoma this morning 2-1. Gascoigne pitched and took the loss for Okie. Ricketts pitched in relief. Okie coach must be saving Keilanai for UCLA this afternoon
Sometimes saving the best for last comes back to bite you in the a$$, happened to texas when they played here.
That first pitcher for OU didn’t have an “out” pitch. It was only a matter of time before a good team will pick up on that and pounce on her. I’m not sure if they(OU) played a “light” schedule up to this point but the majority of their hitters were not power hitters. They made good contact and had Ricketts throwing a lot of pitches last night. Most of the balls put into play were grounders and weak line drives.
I didnt expect Keilani to start. After a full game against Georgia I had a 60% feeling she wouldnt start.
Unlike baseball, softball pitchers can go long distances withoit too much concern of physical wear and tear.
Pitching terminators like Danielle Lawrie are an exception and as fine as an ace Keilani Ricketts is, its early in the season to ask her to pitch 11 innings or maybe 14.
We are lucky to have another pitcher in Parnaby that can hold her own.
Kaia should be starting today against Nebraska. We will need her to hold down the Husker offense.
Florida Ted, Auf wiedersehen freunde. Ruhe in frieden. My list of UH athletes who have made lasting impressions. Jim Schultz, 1960’s wr who made circus catches, was charismatic, Larry Granite Cole, De, went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys, Levi Stanley, pound for pound the best DT I ever seen, Larry Sherrer, electrifying runner, Walter Murray, WR, made you feel he would do something big on every play, Niko Noga, pound for pound the best LB I ever saw, Chad Owens, Travis Laboy, always made the big tackles, Ashley Lelie, his final year was out of sight, Nate Ilaola, Colt Brennan, fast release, dead on accuracy we may never see again at UH. I missed some. Golden Richards was fast and had good hands. Al Noga was very very good. Greg Salas will be a star at the next level. In VB, Yuval Katz, charismatic, soooo talented. In baseball, Derek Tatsuno, and Joey Meyer. In basketball, Tom Henderson Bob Nash, Tony Maroney, A.C. Carter, in womens VB, T Williams. And Kelly ‘Sultan of Slam’ Majam, I’m in love with her. This is silly because there are so many great UH athletes I missed. The Hawaii Islanders first year, what a great nickname, Ray ‘Jabbo’ Jablonski. I better leave, I got brain damage. Gib em Gib!
God bless RupertDaStulpert! Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Hope all is well with u.
Rest in Peace FlaTed! (((HUGS))) to FlaPat.
…also Rest in Peace to LTUHF and (((HUGS))) to Mrs LTUHF.
Something I have realized in all your posts and I thought I’d give you a compliment on is how solid your English and spelling are. Where did you learn to write so well? It seems like you have a degree in writing from a College.
So, who did Oklahoma play before the Catherdral City Classic?
WINS:
Cal St Bakersfield 8-0
Appalachian State 8-0
Northwestern 9-1 *Kelly Majam’s sister Mari is a freshman here*
Arizona 11-1
Western Michigan 5-0
St. Gregory 9-0
Southern Utah 8-3
NMSU (twice) 7-4 and 16-0
Sam Houston State 12-4
Louisiana-Monroe 12-4
Losses:
Arizona State 3-4
Rainbow Wahine 1-4
Long Beach State 3-4
Smashing Arizona at Tempe, AZ by a score of 11-1 is IMPRESSIVE, but yeah… the rest ummm, but our schedule prior to Palm Springs is somewhat comparable, but quality wins over Stanford, a comeback against a good Utah team, and of course a solid win against OU is much better on paper.
sending some Hawaiian sunshine to my keiki (and Wafan and djmitcho) in the PNW who are freezing their okole.
thank you for the kind words Hawaiianbod. Since the stroke, I cannot do the 4 fingers left, 4 fingers right. I have to peck at the keyboard like a chicken pecking for worms, LOL. What happened to great nicknames. John ‘The Horse’ Orsino? Curtis ‘The Bull’ Iaukea? Mordecai ‘three fingers’ Brown? Red ‘Galloping Ghost’ Grange? Gil ‘The Spider’ Garrido, Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller? Whatever happened to that mixed martial arts fighter? Harry Kalas recreating an Islanders game on the road, “I think he’s coming in, from the Islanders right field bullpen. Is it? Is it? Is it? Yes it is, Yes it is, It’s the Los Angeles Angels million dollar bonus baby. IT’S RICK REICKHARDT!!!!!!! Making his Islander debut. Rackity Rick, Yesssireeeeeee!!!!! Giv em Gib!
Yo bruddah RainbowCliff!! I jus emailed u again. Gotta get the shirt, gotta get the shirt. Here’s my email jus in case went to junk mail: reneilatcomcastdotnet.
Didn’t Oklahoma lost to Georgia 1-0 this week? Maybe I mis-remembered, like Roger Clemens!!!!!!
Yep they did lose to GA.
Next up for Hawai’i–the Edwards’ twins….pitcher Tatum Edwards and catcher Taylor Edwards, the 18-year-old fraternal twins from Murrieta, Calif., that have taken Nebraska softball by storm in their first 11 games as Huskers.
The sisters already rank 1-2 on the team in homers (11), RBIs (29) and, perhaps, name recognition.
Does anybody have highlights on Michael Harvey, the SF, 6’5″, 190 who verbally commited to Hawaii earlier this week? There is no information on Warriorinsider.com.
Hagemann pitched for Nebraska this morning against BYU, she is now 8-1.
Whoops. Yup. They lost to Georgia right before us.
Shows how much I care about what Oklahoma is doing I guess… 😆 😆 😆
With 2 scholarships left, I think Arnold should get at least one of them a point guard. You can never have enough good guards to handle the ball and shoot well. What if Miah get’s injured in football? You gotta have a back-up plan. College basketball is a guard oriented game, i.e. Nolan Smith, Kemba Walker, Jimmer Fredette, Chris Joseph from Texas, Hardy from St. John’s, Wanamaker from Pitt, etc. etc.
LOSTHAWAIIAN,
Appreciate your assessment and insight of the game. If you are going to the UH games, looking forward to your post(s) tonight.
losthawaiian is one lucky buggah!!!
While he cannot be on island to see the majority of the Rainbow Wahine games, he is there witnessing the ladies go up against some top competition! The best competition the Wahine will see all year long during the regular season.
LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It looks like rain and cold are coming in to So Cal tonight. Since Palm Springs is further inland, the Wahine might get through one game before it hits that area. Right now where I’m at work the temp. is about 43F, gusty winds and overcast. Hopefully the night time temps. won’t bother them too much.
Rain and wind for an early evening softball game???
The Rainbow Wahine will feel right at home as if they were back at Manoa! 😎
Unfortunately, I have to work today and the rest of the weekend so I’m going to miss the rest of the tourney. Besides watching the Wahine, there are some other great matchups this weekend. I’ll be ready next year and take a weeks vacation to watch the whole thing. Maybe next year I’ll be prepared and have a good digital camera instead of my cell phone camera.
Good afternoon, everyone!
We finally broke the 30-degree mark.
Long term forecast is possible snow in the Bay area in a day or two or three.
Yup, California’s Bay area.
Yesterday was the first day I ever heard of I-5 being shutdown up here. Too much snow in too short a time.
Go Wahine!
Be the Titas!!!
Kazz . . .
Has any coach started whining about the Wahine doctoring their bats, yet?
Hey, maybe this is one way they can get a few new bats every year!!! Have the whining and sniveling coaches/teams buy the bats and have them shipped directly to the Wahine!!!
Wafan,
No one yet.
How long did it take you to write this? This is Absolutely fantastic.
808Fringe – re yesterday’s inquiry: besides Costco, u might also want to try Don Quixote and da Aloha Stadium Flea Market. Happy trails….

Harry Kalas: the Best of the Best
It’s an oddity, but what must surely be a disproportionate number of sports broadcasters got their start in Hawaii doing baseball play-by-play for the Triple-A Hawaii Islanders of the Pacific Coast League. I’ve wondered over the years why that was, but never did settle on a plausible explanation.
The Islanders began playing in Honolulu in the early 60s and continued right on through until the final game of the 1987 season. The next year, the team moved to Colorado Springs.
Over the years, Islander games were broadcast by some very talented men behind the mike. There was Hank Greenwald, who went on to do the San Francisco Giant games for many years.
And Al Michaels, probably best remembered for one of the classic lines in all of sports broadcasts, uttered when the U. S. Olympic Mens Ice Hockey team defeated the Russians at the 1980 Winter Olympics and went on to win gold medals: “Do you believe in miracles? Yessss!”
Ken Wilson went to Seattle and the Mariner Games; Mel Procter broadcast games for the then Washington Bullets. And there was also the venerable Les Keiter, who years earlier called the Mohammed Ali-Sonny Liston fight.
But, as talented as those guys are, for my money the very best was Harry Kalas, who was the voice of the Hawaii Islanders for several years when the Islanders first started playing here. It was my great good fortune to have shared the radio booth with Harry for two seasons back then and everyone who heard him broadcast a single inning knew he was headed for the big leagues.
Harry went from Hawaii to Houston where he did the Astro games for several years. From there he moved back east where, for almost 40 years, he became the voice of the Philadelphia Phillies. And I do mean voice. You could identify Harry’s gravelly bass just a few syllables into one of his articulate sentences. He was also the voice for many of the National Football League films.
But Harry Kalas was a gentleman. A class act. A generous, kind and totally unpretentious man. The last time I saw him was in 2001 when I was in Cincinnati on business and the Phillies were in town playing the Reds. The last time I spoke to Harry was a year or so back. I’d been thinking about him — over the years, I thought about Harry a lot — and sent him a note, belatedly congratulating him on being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. A week after I had posted the letter, he called and we had a nice chat.
Harry Kalas died today. He was 73. And he is irreplaceable.

I grew up listening to the Hawaii Islanders–and Harry Kalas–during summer evenings in Honolulu when I was a kid–sometimes falling asleep to the languid rhythms of the game. Harry Kalas is the reason that I now would much rather listen to a baseball game than watch it. A big part of my childhood has passed away. Thanks for the memories, Harry.
Chick Hearn, Vin scully, Al Michaels? Harry was the best!!!
Happy birthday to Florida Ted.
Miss your insights and sense of humor.
Surely, you, LTUHF, Pomai’s honey, and dad are cheering loudly at every UH game.
It is good how many of us are able to relate to all the topics you have written about. We require more writers like you that are updated. Keep up the good work!
Wafan,
Good day to watch Wahine sb on the internet.
The Nebraska vs UH will not start on time.
Georgia 9-6. Bottom of the 5th 1 out.
808ike,
When does it ever? 🙄
Forgot. The Georgia-Oregon State game is the game prior to the Nebraska-UH game.
Georgia 9-7 starting of the 6th inn.
808ike – which link are you using to follow the game online? The UH site is not showing anything yet.
Oregon State is the home team. 2 full innings unless they can overtake Georgia. Start time may be around 4:30.
Will post when game is over. Then a 20-30 min break before the UH-Nebraska game starts.
UH is visiting team. First to bat.
Hiflyer,
Gametracker.
Bottom of the 6th. 9-7.
UH live stats come on during the warm-ups prior to when the Rainbow Wahine play.
Wassup
Florida beats UCLA 4-1.
Top of the 7th.
Wow! This could be one particular of the most beneficial blogs We have ever arrive across on this subject. Basically Excellent. I am also an expert in this topic so I can understand your hard work.
Georgia just hit their 4th HR of the game. 12-7
Georgia also has 4 errors.
Tanks for da replay/relay 808ike!
Aloha Tsaiko’s,
Just read in this morning’s Maui News that Ceejay Santos of Baldwin High
(Kicker) has signed a letter of intent to attend Weber State. Said UH was
trying to recruit him but didn’t say if they offered a scholarship. Weber offered a full scholarship.
Bottom of the 7th.
That was very interesting. There are not a lot of blogs out there with good information on your topic. I would like to learn more interesting information when I come back later.
Fresno State, upholding the WAC’s rep, beat 19th-ranked Oklahoma State 4-3. Good for UH’s RPI down the road.
Game over.
Now can watch a meaningful game. 2x.
UH-Nebraska game should start around 4:20-4:30.
Good for Fresno State.
Good ole “Dave” at the so-called “WAC” Softball Blogspot can smile again. His entry about the Wahine beating Oklahoma reaked of disappointment considering he wrote an epic comparable to the Illiad and the Odessey when Fresno State beat Missouri.
Stanford #16 lost to unranked Memphis 2-1.
Our RPI won’t jump too high with both Oklahoma and Stanford losing.
Stanford also beat #8 ranked TENN.
Ok, Kaia is starting.
Playball!
Anybody getting anything on “Sidearm”, yet?
Dumb Dave at the WAC Softball Blogspot won’t let me post anything. DD dosen’t like it when you suggest that he’s a Fresno State homer.
Old Diver,
What does Miah bring? He brings ‘chicken skin’, he brings the football team ohana spirit, he brings uncanny quickness that u can’t teach, he brings humility, he brings togetherness, he brings silent leadership, he brings spin moves with or without the basketball, he brings the crowd to there feet clapping wildly, he brought me to my feet at home clapping, he brings wins, he brings the ability to take pressure off other teammates, he brings the ability to show the other point guards u don’t have to be so flashy to be effective….. Anyone else can keep It going …..What does Miah bring?

Missed the 3rd “Aussie” and the third “Oi”.

Hagemann seems like a formidable foe… 😈
Wind blowing out, right to left today.
If local people cannot pronounce Makani’s full last name, they should have their “kama’aina” status revoked.
And no Foodland and Sack and Save “Maika’I” cards for them either.
husker announcer prononunced makani’s name flawlessly.
parnaby working the corners brilliantly–stay focused kaia.
OI!
Wie faltering in the third round, +3 at the end of 5. I hope she turns things around and not have one bad round to put her out of contention early.
Where are y’all listening/watching the game at? :)?
Okay this is the inning. C’mon Dara.

What is wrong with espn1420am, they can announce UH Baseball away games, but not the Softball games, what is up with that?????
Hi there this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
3rd steal on 5 SB attempts on sharla. 2-0, huskers.

hagemann with over 200 pitches for the 2-games today.
hagemann with a gutty performance. wahine batters handcuffed.
Makani Duhaylonsod Kaleimahumahu is a puzzle this year. She has yet to get a single hit. Had a promising freshman year and a fair beginning last year with several homers and some hits. Seems to have lost her confidence at the plate.
parnaby getting hit hard in the 6th.
Score?
Calvin – i like ‘score’ u!
No thanks koa mahu

Interesting article! 🙂
I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I do not know who you are but definitely you are going to a famous blogger if you are not already 😉 Cheers!
Wow. Wahine continuing its anemic hitting. 8 K’s in four innings. Stephanie a bit wild with five walks but little damage so far.
UH has 10 K’s in 5 innings. Looks like we have to rely on Stephanie to give us a chance to win.
Baseball Bows bats are anemic against Texas too. Scoreless after five innings. Behind two to nothing.
Arizona up on LSU 4-1 after 5.
Great pitching duel, end of 6, Caira with 14 Ks. Top 7th, UH is the home team.
Wow. A frustrating sixth inning. Wahine had 4 K’s with a runner on third. Caira has 14 strike outs in the game.
Good match up tomorrow, Arizona vs Georgia. Both are number one depending on the poll.
Just Win, I’ll take an ugly win.
Three errors by UH in the seventh inning. Syracuse takes the lead 2-1.
Another error, another score. Wahine behind 3-1. Unusual for them; good defensive team.
Robinson on 2nd with hit and passed ball. We need Makani to get her 1st hit of the season!
Nope. Another K, now 15.
Majam struck out to end the game at 3-2. 16 K’s for Caira. Too bad for Stephanie to lose a good pitching duel.
This game is going to hurt them for a long time. Coolen needs to figure out his #8 and #9 hitters. Those 2 positions are really hurting the Wahine. Needs to find a 2nd baseperson. Kazz says this team has some leaders, I am starting to question that and Kazz himself.
Syracuse pitcher Caira was just too tough, 16 Ks, and our defense faltered in the 7th with 4 errors.
Tomorrow we have the Virginia Cavaliers.
Stephanie is doing great. She just needs help.
Take it easy WSF, one game is not a season.
Got to give the Syracuse pitcher credit, 16 Ks, it was her day.
There he goes again…Tell me Steve, what is your competitive sports background and experiences?
Gmahoney, to play a game like they did, very stupid, I hope Coolen leashes out at them. Maybe, should have them walk back to their hotel, or wherever they are staying. Need to get their focus back to softball.
Hey Homey, I see it all to often, win the big game, Oklahoma, and that makes their season. Get big headed. Now they have fallen flat on their faces, we will now see what they are really made of.
Steve, no team is perfect. “leashes”??? What are they, dogs?
Again, WSF, one game is not the season. Lots to be proud of on this road trip. Win as a team, lose as a team. I am a supervisor of people. People make mistakes. We don’t dwell on them, we learn from them. Taking a page from the FB team, one snap and clear.
You think that Oklahoma made their season? You need to fall flat on your face. Obviously you don’t see the benefits of tournaments like these. It’s not about one game.
Now the Wahine have to win the WAC Conference, cause they just gave the NCAA tournament committee a reason not to invite them.
Unexpected but Wahine’s strength this season is pitching. The hitting has fallen off. The last two hitting positions have been automatic outs so far this year. The team is hitting a lot of singles the past few games. They were averaging 2.39 home runs per game last year. As Cooley says, hitting is contagious. Unfortunately the opposite is true too. The hitting will return but I am not sure if Hawaii will be as good as last year. The seniors who graduated now seem major losses. The bench this year seems weak. But we shall see. It’s probably too early to get too discouraged.
Heck Steve, you probably think that one person makes a difference in volleyball too.
Homey, you thing the WAC compares at all to the BIG 12 conference. I do not think so.
I disagree. I think that Sarah has been very productive. The Wahine as a whole is in a slump right now. I happens. But they got good bats. The hitting will return.
Now who is comparing conferences? You need to brush up on your comprehension skills. C’mon Steve, man up and join us in a round table discussion. Now can you share your athletic experiences with us on this blog or are you only comfortable discussing the pitfalls of the UH teams?
People, have you not forgotten how often a Hawaii team has been left at home not being invited to a Bowl Game, or NCAA tournament when it deserved to be. Hawaii teams not only have to be good, they have to be near perfect. A lost to a lower seeded team can really hurt Hawaii, more so then any other NCAA team. We saw it happen to the Wahine Volleyball team just this past season, in their placement. That is why I am so critical when it comes to losing. If they lose to someone that is higher then they are, it is ok. But not when the team is lower then they are.
Good pitching will take you a long ways in softball and Hawaii has good pitching. That is why I am still optimistic about the Wahine. The hitting will return; they won’t hit 158 homers but I think that the hitting will be good enough to go a long ways in the postseason.
Um Steve, the volleyball team made the NCAA tournament and did not get left home. So what if they got shafted with a low seed. They still made the tournament.
It’s ok to be critical but you are a whiner and as we have seen how you bashed a certain volleyball Wahine…you also have no class.
It’s not easy to hit a softball or baseball, a hitter failing 70% of the time is doing very well as a hitter. In the majors a hitter hitting successfully 30% of the time is in a very small group of players, most of the millionaires are under .300 batting average.
The girls will be ready when the WAC play begins and they have the talent to win both regular season and WAC tournament. What’s important is getting invited to the NCAA, seeding and where we play is secondary, just be glad we got into the tournament.
Syracuse was the Big East Champion last season. Tomorrow’s opponent came in second in the ACC. Oklahoma and Missouri were preseason favorites to via for the Big 12 championship this season.
We hit a stumbling block, but the Na Wahine will get up and move on. They will win a lot of games this season and when it counts, we should be an NCAA tournament team.
Homey, you do not think the Wahine Volleyball team got shafted when they were sent to Seattle. If you do not think so, then you need to talk to Shoji cause he even stated it. If they had won the WAC no way would they have been sent there.
Ralph,
If they do not win the WAC, which include the WAC Tournament, we all need to keep our fingers crossed that the Wahine get a tournament invite.
Howzit Tsaikos!
i agree with gmahoney. One game, esp this early in the season, does not make a season. BTW, didn’t UH come home from this very same tournament last year with a losing record? Chill, people. Playing good teams only makes you better. The Wahine will learn from today’s experience.
GO WAHINE!
GO RAINBOW WARRIORS!
GO RAINBOWS!!
hey steve, drop your pants and let’s see wh has the bigger b*lls!!
wh=who
JM,
Some people didn’t give a shit about the softball program at this same time last year.
I’m afraid to ask, but I will, Koa-mahu, you got b*lls! Why are you chasing all the guys on this blog?
Sorry,
I meant to say A LOT of people…
Top CCL!
We’ll see how deep Texas pitching is tomorrow.
d1shima,
Sorry to tell you this, but Texas has another 1st round pitcher on the mound tomorrow.
Steve, like I wrote, you gotta work on your comprehension. I said “so what if they got shafted with a low seed”. That statement means that I know they got a low seed but so what. Like I said, ready to talk at the round table with you. Could also be square, rectangle, obtuse, or whatever poly-sided they make. I can be there. Will you?
K State announces football ticket prices for next season, renewal date is April 29. Allows their fans to view the different packages available should a fan decide to change his or her season ticket package. K State seats about 50K and nearly sells out, it has a population of 52K.
Largest city closest to Manhattan is Topeka, 50 miles away.
If a small community can host a college and 50K fans show up to watch a fb game on saturday, why can’t UH create the same buzz. K State plays a very weak non conference schedule year after year know that it needs 6 wins to qualify for a bowl and its tough to win a lot of games in the Big 12 North.
We always read where UH is hurting financially and the fan base is small, 38K tickets issued. Maybe someone needs to think out of the box and start ticket sales promotion earlier with different packages.
Steve, remember how you complained about Shoji and his decision on who to start for setter. Many called you out to tell what you thought to his face yet when they heard you call the coach they said you were…for lack of a better word…timid.
Homey,
If Mafua was such a good setter why was she not on any All-American teams. I mean, she did not make honorable mention.
Arizona takes down LSU 4-1.
It’s the Pac 10 vs SEC
Arizona vs Georgia, Cal vs LSU and UCLA vs Tennessee. all games tomorrow in the Cathedral City Classic.
The Polls will be impacted, UH will be okay. A split in the tournament will be good.
Na Wahine vs Virginia at 1 p.m. HST on Pawtucket field.
Are you a dufus? Do you need to be on an all-america team to be a good setter? She made All-WAC, All-Regional, and for your ignorance, she did make the 2010 AVCA Division I Honorable Mention All-America team.
Oh, did I also fail to mention she made the 2009 AVCA Division I Honorable Mention All-America team??? My bad, she made that team too.
#212 How many volleyball teams in D1? How many setters did not make All-America? How many teams had a better record than Hawaii? Just asking.
Aiyah, did you know she also made the 2008 AVCA Division I Honorable Mention All-America team?
Wie drops from E to +5 after 3 rounds, 16 strokes back.
Hmm it looks like your website ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I wrote and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I as well am an aspiring blog writer but I’m still new to everything. Do you have any tips for novice blog writers? I’d really appreciate it.
Some are blissful.
Nytal!
JMxxxx Hoyas on tv Saturday morning at 7 am KGMB, the Orangemen awaits them
Wafan lightning get you up!
Virtually all of what you state is astonishingly precise and it makes me wonder why I hadn’t looked at this with this light previously. Your article really did turn the light on for me personally as far as this specific subject matter goes. However there is actually one particular factor I am not too cozy with so while I make an effort to reconcile that with the main idea of your issue, permit me see just what all the rest of your subscribers have to say.Nicely done.
Good – I should definitely pronounce, impressed with your web site. I had no trouble navigating through all the tabs and related info ended up being truly easy to do to access. I recently found what I hoped for before you know it at all. Quite unusual. Is likely to appreciate it for those who add forums or something, site theme . a tones way for your customer to communicate. Excellent task..
Nitey nite himes et al!
hi, I’ve been having bad luck trying to rank up for the keyword “kokomo dentist”… PLEASE approve my comment!!
Hmmm–no comment for 2 hours except for what pops up before I post this. “This Day in 2007 Blog History” was relatively quiet (only 148 comments) except for the mysterious and knowledgable Guava stirring the pot again and taking flak for it. No, there is no one in Guava’s class …and Guava had class.
One unusual thing was an infrequent blogger named Ralph posted in the daytime. He would become more frequent, but usually around 2:00 am… 🙂
ST’s blog entry for the day was hopeful…and the calm before the storm to come. Remember, this is 2007:
Ralph – are u serious? Growing up in Hawaii, u should kno what kine equipment a mahu is packing.
Well it was a disappointed loss, but should we disappointed in the team? Are you crazy h3ll no, these girls bust their butts everyday, I grans nobody was more disappointed then they where but they will put it behind them and move forward just like any good athlete would. So I as a fan have to do the same, we take it one game at a time.
Is just wondering if all you fans who are complaining about the teams results at the Cathedral City Classic could do the same, being on the road for ten days, living out of suitcase and still perform at a 100%. I doubt if you could, so give them a break, rather than break them down you need to build them up!!!! That goes for all fans.
Is Wahine Softball Fan really a fan of Na Wahine sports?
#229 It’s called a wet round.
#233 better known as a dud.
#234 not a stud.
Great Morning All!
Day baysuboruu….Matchup against the reigning Big XII POY this afternoon.
Sounds good.
Who’s with me?
Good morning…is it safe to blog again? Gotta hide from Koa and WSF…obviously for different reasons. Now about wahine softball. Hey, there are lots of very good teams there. They will lose some and it is to be expected. They are also facing the top pitchers in the country so hitting will be less than usual. The reason they are there in this tournament is to discover their weaknesses so they can fix them before the conference season and be prepared for the post season. Yes, the 8 and 9 hitters are weak. Maybe Coolen has nobody better to put in the lineup, maybe they field so much better than their competition that it’s worth it to leave them in the lineup or maybe Coolen knows their potential and is being patient with them. I’m not a softball coach so I’ll leave those decisions to him. Still very proud of the wahine and wishing them luck today against Virginia.
In fact….still very proud of all Unversity of Hawaii athletic teams! They play and quie often win with heart as well as smaller budgets, inferior atheletic facilities and dismal booster support. Still they all play hard for us and for themselves. So good luck to all UH athletes playing today….Softball, basketball, baseball, track, swimming and diving, um chess, badminton, beer pong, twister and any others….
Oh WSF is that guy…the Mafua hater…no wonder
Good frozen morning!
Go BaseBows!
Thats some really good points.
Good morning C_K!
Easier to scroll past the posting of a man who is clearly not willing to accept the facts. These are every mother’s sons and daughters. To speak of them in a disparaging manner is totally insane.
No wonder he doesn’t want to meet Homey. He knows he will lose the nose to nose debate. Homey can check his ‘guns’ at the door and still pin his ears with one hand!
Have a good day everybody!
Ken’s House of Pancakes, Hilo Lunch Shop was the first two stops.
Anyone know of a good Korean BBQ restaurant in Hilo?
Wafan ~ Park your *HOT* Malasada’s wagon near the I-5 exit and feed those hungry travelers. They’ve been stranded for hours – you’ll make travel money to see more UH fb games across the fruited plains!
Free refills of Kona coffee with every order.
Jmxxxx ~ Orangemen are up by 10 at the half. Time to send your screechers to the rescue.
D-1 ~ No hall pass today…tsigh. Beezball was berry gud to me…once upon a time.
Morning, gang!
Off to SF today.
GO WAHINE!!!
GO BOWS!!!
Kekoa . . .
Put your foot down and say, in no uncertain tone, that you are going to watch baseball today and any other day and night you decide.
Then, when you get up off the ground grovel like your life depended on it. Just remember to keep your head lower than Queen Diana’s and avert your eyes lest “the look” whisk away your soul.
But, the idea of fresh malasadas with a glass of ice cold milk sure sounds good.
Slugger . . .
Snow headed your way in SF. Possible for LA, too.
Calvin from Kona: You are absolutley right “dismal booster support”. To this day I can never understand it but what I have seen and learned from this sad state is that upper and lower campus alums are divided and MANY just don’t care to give back. Alums are spread all over the States and have Chapters in their cities but no consistent visible interaction with one another. Go to a meeting and then won’t see one another until 6 months later or an announce Hawaii event. Many are very old with NO young ones coming in as job security, early marriage or lack of funds to support Hawaii educationally or athletically is an issue. Ex players are out there but show no visibility to their sport as LWC has not had a new Hawaii athlete to join since I have been with them since 2000, a span of 11 years. My era is a DISGRACE as they just came to Hawaii for one thing play for their sport, no attending class, look to go pro and if nothing came from that I am out of sight and out of mind. For me I will always find ways to support UH not only money but giving them my time to recruit students to Manoa. Just last week 320 Southern California H.S. seniors will be attending Manoa in the fall, 38 of them I recruited from the South Bay College Fair as I am EXTREMELY proud of that ! There are many ways to support UH but the one most important factor is you must be “VISIBLE” and
care to do what ever you can. I wear UH every where I go and not one day go bye in which some one comes up to me and says “your from Hawaii” and my reply is “YES I AM” !
From there it is all guava juice as once I get through with them telling them about the Ohana I have them coming to visit you, supporting Hawaii causes or recruiting their sons and daughters to become students at Manoa. Sir, that is all it takes is just the ALOHA coming from Hawaii alums and ex-players. Have a good morning and sorry if I rattle to much on this subject but I do support you folks until the day I die !
Once a BOW always a BOW !
Yesterday was a disappointing day but I’m over it.
I mentioned early on that I would be surprised if this team hit over 90 HRs.
It is not the same hitting team and for many reasons.
The bright spot is both Ricketts and Parnaby have improved in the circle.
But as we all know–you need to have both hitting and pitching jelling at the same time to achieve team goals successfully.
I just dont understand Coolen’s reasoning at #8 and #9.
Nakao has been out of the mix. I saw potential in Kaile. She is a frosh.
Ricketts has only 2 ABs, Why?
It’s clear the wahine players Coolen is inserting in these spots are not responding in the box.
Sharla #5 and Sarah @ #7 have produced at their respective spots. For Robinson, she started off slow, stumbled and now is hitting with consistency as well as the others. I cant say the same for the #8 and #9 hitters. far from it.
Yesterday’s breakdown on D was inexcuseable. I dont buy into the long road trip explanation offer by Jim Leahy.
You want to win the WAC T at Fresno? The regionals and Super Regional? Want to go to Oklahoma City? Drop the travel whinning. It comes with the territory and that adversity will never change. Besides, the core of this team is an experienced group on the road. Lest we forget 2010.
We have leadership galore on wahine 2011 and the missing chemistry maybe bc this team is still in need of a tail-end facelift in the batting order. JMO.
I personally haven’t gotten used to the amount of attention and coverage the softball program has been getting. I do smile when I hear the TV ads, people making up their own nickname and taglines for the players, but too often, especially here in Hawaii, we dump on our own at the slightest mishap.
Lots of arm crossing and whispers of what should be done and all this and that. While some want to argue that it comes with the territory, that does not make it right.
I caught on to softball very late. I jumped on the bandwagon after the 2007 team had their great run to the Tennessee Super Regionals, the first bracelet “adventure” and so forth… But that’s what did it for me. When we got to meet the 2007 team and the coaches something hit me, like a light went off inside my head and I felt that I wanted to really follow this program and understand what it was about.
Then I started getting to some games in person in 2008 and bought the 2008 WAC Championship Tournament tickets when we hosted it here. I still remember losing to Nevada and being eliminated on our home turf, but I looked around and saw the real die-hards (a few hundred). I saw how they didn’t care that they were the minority as they were there because they were friends or families of the players and they liked softball in general.
Some probably got irritated that I took up blog time ranting about softball and playing “wannabe beat writer” about softball and I flooded the blog with softball Qs to ST as I still wanted to learn more as fast as possible.
2009 was the first season I got to see almost every single game at home. It was a hard year. We started 3-11 and Clare Warwick was the preseason WAC Player of the Year then and for the first time in her career at UH she was hitting below .300. Only Taualii and Tanisha Milca were hitting above .300. Coach Coolen was a guest on the Warrior Beat Show and I saw it as my chance to pick his brain and learn at the same time. I think even Leila Wai started to laugh as one question from me as followed by 4 more and so forth, but I didn’t care. I continue to “bandwagon” this thing when there was no winning record to ride on. There were no homerun streaks at the time. I didn’t care.
2009 ended without much noise. We lost in the losers bracket of the WAC tournament and I remembered what ST told me in person during the 2009 NMSU home series when I asked him about next season (2010). He just said “they’ll be ok, Kelly Majam is supposed to be a real ‘blue chipper’…
I had to drag a few friends with me to watch the 2009 State High School Softball Championship as I heard of this player Jessica Iwata signed her LOI to UH and I wanted to see what she was about. Saw Kauai capture the D2 State Title with both Iwata and Jori Jasper on that team. Drove all the way to Manoa when there was no other UH game that night, paid $15.00 to get in and left right after the D2 game. I was curious and I guess I really wanted to prove to myself that I was going to commit to be a real fan/supporter.
Last season came along and it was what it was. The slow progression over a few months of a monster in the making. I thought we were safe. It seemed like the 200 or so “regulars” were going to enjoy the offensive firepower of that team all to ourselves, but as things go, you cannot stop an avalanche. Word will get out and it did. The madness followed and former “high-fives” with familiar faces in the once-sparse crowd of a few hundred turned into looking out in a sea of unfamiliar faces cheering on Majam’s name even after another player just hit a homer. It was weird, exciting, but weird. It was like the nerds had their party crashed by the “cool kids”. You just didn’t know how long the “cool kids” could hold their attention span…
I’m only being honest. Sorry.
As I sit here this morning thinking about everything, I cannot help but be grateful of the opportunity I have to be in a little more direct capacity to assist and support the program. I cannot help but be grateful of Coach Coolen and his staff welcoming us to assist with the program in a booster club capacity. I cannot help but be thankful of our bloghost ST for dealing with my questions and I appreciate all those that tolerated my incessant softball posts during the non-softball seasons.
I don’t care that a lot of people think that a female sport is inferior to a male sport. I don’t care that softball in the NCAA loses money for all of the participating schools. I could care less that the NCAA Tournament is the least watched of all NCAA tourneys.
I don’t care about a lot of things, but I do care when people come out of the blue to trash on some hard-working young women and their coaches. I do care when people expect the world from a program they didn’t know existed 14 months ago.
Everyone can have their opinions, but it doesn’t make them correct or appear as educated as they make themselves out to be.
You can jump on the bandwagon for the good times, everyone does at some point. The test of character and the definition of a fan comes from the ability to hold on and show the program and the student-athletes of today and of the future that you are not going anywhere. People will get frustrated, I do and everyone that knows me knows that, but the difference is, we, the real fans, will still come back and learn from OUR own shortcomings with the hopes of the team learning from theirs the next game.
I totally forgot where I was going with this, but I guess it’s a really long and somewhat polite way to tell the two-faced haters to just “shut up”.
What Kazz said.
If the length of the road trip, as opined by Jim Leahey, is being cited as one reason for the bad day yesterday, then that is his opinion.
I promise you the coaching staff and the players aren’t using that excuse.
I believe this blog post is one of the most informative thing not only for the technique learner but also for necessary for all stage people.
Bravissimo, Kazz!
Kazz ~ You can say that again.
Wafan ~ I’m in traction, thanks.
This is good info! Where else can i find out more?? Keep up the good work 🙂
Too bad about the softball losses yesterday but we can’t expect a 100% winning record – we can hope but …
We seem to be getting a lot of spam lately on the blog. Maybe we should get a filter – WSF seems to be one of them too.
KAZZ: I like your enthusiasm and the work that you have put into the program.
KEKOA: I may have missed something but why are you in traction?
Best wishes – whatever it may be.
here we again with “real” fans vs bangwagon fans. Being a self-proclaimed elitist wont change the chemistry of wahine 2011. eh, kazz, enjoyed your autobiography. can hardly wait until you write something about softball.
Good Morning Gangeez!
Kazz –
Said it before…
Don’t go changin’, not for nobody! 😉
Hey Tom –
We gotta have lunch sometime soon. I have something for you.
hawaiiansun, westsideview, warriorfanny,
Go look in the blog archives from the summer and fall.
Go Wahine.
Hit, Run Score.
kazz, still the wannabee.
I claim #268 for Tim!
Re: 265 – name it and I’ll be there (I think!)
Make it #269 for Tim
hawaiiansun/Bowstock/Warriordon,
I love you too man!!!!!!!!! 😆 😆 😆
Tom ~ All in jest. Wafan advised me to challenge the Queen of the ceded lands for a hall pass to the BaseBow game today.
kazz, i love your enthusiasm, that’s not my problem. Wish we had 100 fans, in any UH sport as dedicated as you. Just allow others to vent and opine, that makes for good discussion on the merits (hopefully)….btw, real fans worship rome not caesar. let the chips fall where they may….jmo, and keep up your blogs on softball commentary, i do enjoy your passion.
Tom ~ We’ve got tickets to the UH Wbb vs The Fresneckers on Sunday.
Huge fan of this page, a number of your articles have definitely helped me out. Awaiting updates!
Kekoa,
Some thought SJSU played “dirty” a few nights ago… just wait until Sunday… 🙄
Kazz ~ We know our women are just hard drivin’ passionate players. They come at you with all their might. If you can’t stand the heat…stay outta their kitchen! Hehehe…
Good morning Tsai-kos!!
Ralphie – missed the game. GU was without their leading scorer. BUT, I can’t tell you how much it pains me to lose to Syracuse and their crybaby coach Boeheim. There were reports that the Syracuse “fans” threw oranges at Patrick Ewing his freshman year. (sounds like some WAC fans).
Wahine play Fresneck Sunday? Was the game last year that Breanna (?) was given the business by an opposing player but the “ref” refused to throw her out?
See ya at the game tonight. Screechers like Sr. Nights. This will be their first basketball one. hehehe
wafan – not only does Kekoa have to answer to the Queen, he also has to answer to his little Princess!!

Nice blog , I appreciate the great content you provide us. I’m a current user of this controversial Satellite TV for PC and I can tell you that there are 3 software editions. For a small one-time fee with nothing else to pay EVER, you will be happy with the entertainment you receive. There are other TOP Satellite TV software as well. There are two important things to decide on before buying a software and they are… 1. Excellent Quality, or 2. High Quantity For excellent quality, you want a TOP Satellite/Internet TV software that can stream 1000s of audio and video files, from the World Wide Web, quickly and smoothly for excellent playback.

Wow, awesome blog layout! How long have you been blogging for? you make blogging look easy.
Better Abs Means Better Sport Performance…
I found your entry interesting thus I’ve added a Trackback to it on my weblog :)…
The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.
Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
There has been such a rush by both adults and teens to use dangerous drugs like prednisone for things like acne. That I was really happy to find at least some websites that are willing to tell the truth instead of chasing the all might dollar.I work for an MD and patients are always coming in wanting antibiotics or steroids for the stupidest things. Had a mother bring her daughter in and the kid, probably around 15 years old, had maybe 2 small pimples and she wanted the doctor to prescribe Prednisone for this child. I honestly could not believe it that people are so irrisponsible that they would want to give their kids harsh steroids for a couple of small pimples. I know what was going on because when the doctor refused the womans request she became very loud in her objections. Though honestly the same thing is true with antibiotics. People get a cold and they want antibiotics. The thing is that antibiotics won’t work on a cold as it’s a virus. Yes, we’ve also had people come in to get antibiotics for acne. Granted taht antibiotics are less dangerous than steroids but it’s this type of willy nilly use of antibiotcs that is creating strains of bacteria that are resistant to these medications. So yeah, it might clear up acne briefly but then when you really need those antibiotics and your life is on the line then you’re gonna wish that you didn’t help contribute to the problem in the first place. Sorry all, this is just a rant that I had to get off my chest. I linked to an article on this subject for anyone interested but otherwise I just wanted to vent cause this stuff drives me bat$hit crazy.
Your thoughts and opinions help me see the light. Thanks.
If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.
Having reading this blog i realize it was helpful in so many ways. Genius!

Hello! gakdebe interesting gakdebe site!

Times are hard and with promotions at work so few and far between and companies laying people off, many dream of quitting their regular jobs and putting up their own business instead. For most of us, however, this is a dream that never comes to fruition because of the lack of financial resources. If you are determined, you can get around this problem by building your business credit. In other words, you can borrow money from lending companies so you don´t have to put any of your personal assets at risk. Applying for Business Credit Before you can enjoy any of the advantages of having your own business credit line, you will have to convince lending companies that you have a business to fund, and that your business will be profitable enough to allow you to easily pay back the borrowed amount within a predetermined period. A good way to do this is to include a business plan with your credit application. When you´re putting together a business plan, make sure you compile all the relevant documents such as your business licenses, sales projections, pricing

Well that was a good read.
Very informative!
This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
Can I quote you on this? Greetings from Leicester!
nice blog man, i subscribed! thanks for this kind of information, its hard to get quality stuff soemtimes
I was very pleased to find this site.I wanted to thank you for this great read!! I definitely enjoying every little bit of it and I have you bookmarked to check out new stuff you post.
It’s fresh to see a real debate online and not all just agreeing with the author for a change.
I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)
Pretty section of content. I just stumbled upon your web site and in accession capital to assert that I get in fact enjoyed account your blog posts. Anyway I will be subscribing to your augment and even I achievement you access consistently fast.
Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
Hmmm for some cause only one-half of the post can be seen. I tried reloading but still identical.
The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
Great post full of useful tips! My site is fairly new and I am also having a hard time getting my readers to leave comments. Analytics shows they are coming to the site but I have a feeling “nobody wants to be first”.

Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.
