19. I agree completely. Hawaii reserved scholarships for Titus and Pita anyways. So it only made sense to at the very least trip Fred and keep options open. I like to think as a program we should set some what of a ethical standard to honor a visit at least.

Kapakahi, check out this article… I thought it was a little strange on how we recruited/ discovered Manoa. I like what I see in his highlight video, but he is playing against OIA white or below type competition. Against St Francis who is a better team, they lost 41-7. Super hard to make out what kind of a player he is. The coaches comment’s on recruiting process just seems weird and not normal to me.

The QB position gets too much credit and too much blame for any football team. SS was put in a tough situation last season. He didn’t have alot of support. He was a true warrior – kept fighting – never complaining. He also played hurt for most of the season. For someone never having played since his senior year in high school, I think he did a commendable job. He will only get better if healthy. No one knows what will happen next season, but I do know he will continue to compete.

Good to see the QBs and WRs working on timing and routes. Fall camp will be very interesting at WR with all the new additions coming in. There will be great position battles at several spots.

Pita Taumoepenu sounds like a freak athlete if he racked up that many sacks his Sr year with only 2 years of organized football. I think the LDS mission will be good for him (and UH) because he’s way light to play D-Line for 2013. Upon his arrival in 2015 he should be more filled out and ready to wreak havoc.

Assuming he still comes to UH in 2 years.

Recruiting right now is slow. I think the coaches need some turbo boosting!!!!!!!Coaches, don’t settle, get players with big upside. Speed and athleticism are god given. You can gain strength.

Going on a mission can work both ways. A player can continue to lift and train IF he is assigned to a developed country and you can have a beefed up, more mature player upon his return. Problem is that many missionaries are often assigned to serve in isolated places or developing countries where there is no access to training facilities. There have been signees who have gone off to serve their missions in developing countries, and come back and have lost the fire to play or lost a lot of weight. Knew of one lineman who lost some 80 pounds during his mission to Central America and just couldn’t get the weight and his strength back on upon his return to BYU.
