Canadian DB joins Warriors
Bonjour.
Defensive back Jeremie “Jay” Dominique told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser he has accepted a scholarship from Warriors.
Dominique, who is 6 feet 1 and 193 pounds, said he will enroll in UH’s 2017 spring semester. He said he will compete in the Rainbow Warriors’ spring training, which begins on Feb. 20.
“I’ve seen how their program is going,” Dominique said of the Warriors. “You see it with the new coaching staff. They’ve had success, and I feel it’s only the beginning. They’re heading for something great, especially the defense they’re playing. I feel they play a defense that fits everything I can do.”
Dominique drew attention because of his coverage skills in Canadian football. In Canada’s version, the field is wider and receivers are permitted running starts before the football is snapped.
“You’ve got guys running at you who’ve had a head start,” Dominique said. “Before they get to the line of scrimmage, they probably have a 15-yard start coming at you.”
But Dominique did well enough to earn inclusion on All-Quebec teams.
In December, Dominique completed his studies at Old Montreal Cegep, a bridge school between Quebec’s secondary school and a university. In Quebec’s educational system, a secondary school — the equivalent of middle school/high school — runs through grade 11. After that, a student wishing to attend a university must earn a certificate from a cepeg.
Dominque said he intends to pursue a degree in international business at UH. He also will continue his football studies.
“I’m always training, watching tape, watching games,” Dominique said. “That’s what takes up most of my time. I’m always focused on football and get better.”
First!
First that was me.
Back at it tomorrow, classes, lifting, and meetings etc.
ML Warrior:
I hope you fed your kid well during the break.
It’s a new season in a month and a half.
Jeremie, Bienvenue!
I am sure this new member was well vetted. Canada produces some great talent that shows up on rosters in quite a few conferences-kid has great size.Welcome
Jere, Jere, Jere…
You made a wise, wise, wise decision…
from the frozen tundra of Quebec
to the warm ocean kissed sands of Hawaii
You get an “A” (Aloha) 🙂
Sonny Dykes was dismissed by Cal today. According to some reports his name surfaced at other job openings-the administration wanted a commitment.
Interesting commitment.
How about some tale of the tape and the like?
Welcome to the Warriors Jeremie!
How many scholarships do we have left for 2017?

Looks like he has good closing speed and power.
ST
He ate so much that I am on a diet til pay day.
Great size. Maybe a safety or nickel. But, definitely25 pounds later a Mageo type.
Haleakala
Plenty
looking for more great news this week-my with list includes a couple of Rbs, an OL or two, a couple DL and Lbs. oh ya throw in a TE and QB. That would come to about 10 scholarships-
Great Morning All!
A couple of “space-eaters” would be nice!
Recruiting coming along pretty good, especially on the D side. In my view I see a need for a lot more O-linemen with a group that is a little shallow in depth and having five seniors this coming season. Running back could use another good one. Hoping RB Miles Reed chooses the Warriors.
Jay looks like a goodfit at for CB or LB – seems to have good recognition of what the receiver or RB or QB is doing before committing to movement — seems to have strong arms to bring down ball carriers — impact hitter?
is he the first since Dane MacArthur of many years ago?
Hopefully, Dominique will become the Dominator.
Dominique The Dominator.
Sounds good.
🙂
