5 former Warriors sign deals; Graunke practices as No. 2
The NFL life goes on for five former Warriors.
Running back Reagan Mauia today signed a two-year contract with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Mauia was cut the past weekend by the Miami Dolphins. He returned to the Bay Area, but then was invited to try out for the Bengals. Fullback Jeremi Johnson is out for the season, and the Bengals were in need of a blocking back. For the season opener, the Bengals will move a tight end to the backfield.
Also, C.J. Hawthorne (Buffalo Bills), Tala Esera (Indianapolis Colts), Dane Uperesa (Colts) and Melila Purcell (Browns) were signed to practice squads.
* * *
Tyler Graunke today took all of the No. 2 quarterback’s reps — his first extensive workout since being reinstated last week.
Graunke looked sharp, with both his throwing and scrambling.
After he practice, he said: “I want to apologize to the people of Hawai‘i for letting them down.”
Graunke said he was grateful “for this opportunity.”
* * *
Quarterback Inoki Funaki and defensive tackle Tuika Tufaga are Kahuku High graduates.
* * *
Slotback Jon Medeiros played well against Florida.
* * *
Running back Jake Heun, who has not practiced since the first day of training camp because of a herniated disc, is close to returning.
* * *
Greg McMackin has imposed two two-day rules.
The first is that players are allowed a maximum 48 hours to reflect on the previous game.
The second is a player must practice — at the least — Wednesday or Thursday to be eligible to play in that weekend’s game.
The latter rule is essential for team morale. In past seasons, there were players who were allowed to skip practices all week but still play.
* * *
McMackin really did put great effort into preparing for the Florida game. Not only did he consult with a hydration specialist during training camp, he also used one of the 99 spots in the travel party for a nurse. Her main job was to administer IVs during the Florida game. About 10 players had IVs in the first half.

Happy birthday to Rich Miano and “Ferd” Lewis.

Hey, our pal Kortney gave birth. Here is the adorable Josie Borthwick:
Good Morning Gang!
Welcome back ST! I put that Warrior Whiteout poster in my 2 yr old son’s room. He yells “Go Warriors” when he looks at it.
Good Morning Tsaikos and Tsaikettes!
I like those rules.
We have a similar rule at work, although because we’re old farts, it’s that our memory cells last only 48 hours.
Now….where was I this past weekend ….?
Top 5!
Hmmm….ST. I think that rule applies to me too. Try balancing a checkbook with a tv remote control. lol
Despite the rule Mack was very gracious answering questions during call the coach last night.
OK now HiHo fo’ real….
morning gang!
nice rules, no feel bad Stephen, my memory cells barely last 24 hours 😕
I wonder how strictly the “no practice, no play” rule will be enforced. Will Mack really hold Dan Kelly out of a game if he was nursing a strain during the week? Or in that case, would “practice” mean showing up at the field and doing some stretches?
[…] unknown wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt […]
I have a 24 hour rule.
Aloha Kakahiaka!
Wow- sleep is more important than food.
Good to be a civilian again.
Stephen- where were WE last weekend???
HIHO!
Most of the time, I can’t remember what I had for lunch the previous day.
#13
wow,
is that an omen? hmmmmmm
Article about Mack on KHNL’s website.
a-sports,
my favorite line
how can i be overdrawn… i still have checks left, haha
anyone at practice today? is libre moving around?
This fantasy sports site has UH’s D on their “recommended” list. It is nice for the D to get this type of deserved mention. Only 5 other defenses made their recommended list.
Good Morning All! 🙂
Article about how the non-BCS conference teams are closing the gap with the BCS conference teams. It is great that the WAC had *two* wins over BCS conference teams…I remember what the WAC’s nonconference record was last year and how that hurt UH’s strength of schedule and BCS points.
Major news out of the WAC in 43 minutes!
Garret
check your email, and good morning to DPK
Looks like Tomey found his QB for this season. This guy transferred from Cal but was injured during the offseason.
Lots of interesting WAC tidbits in this article. I liked how this one pointed out that the starting QBs this week for Tomey and Mack were both #3 QBs a week ago!
The Texas Tech vs. Nevada summary in USA Today mentions Colt.
Bio for Da Beast.
I’m really worried about the problems that Higgins will cause UH’s D. I’m sure that Mack, Cal, and the rest of the coaches will have the team prepared…but I’m sure that Higgins has been looking forward to this game for a long time!
Nice to read up on Weber State’s last game.
Da Beast got a mention in this recap of Weber State’s game.
Warriors BBQ Weber
Nice to hear Miami’s coach mention Bess when talking about players that will be playing this season.
Local boy just had his contract purchased by the KC Royals.
I’m off to work now. By the way, if anyone reading this has a San Diego Zoo membership, today is the day you can show your Zoo card and get FREE food from Chipotle! I know what I’m having for lunch and dinner today…
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
Just stopping by to say Hi. Looking forward to the first home game this season. Too bad Kekaula and Curran are no longer on the same side of the pressbox, no more fun. BUT, at least the visiting coaches are still there. Hmmmm… anyone have an extra Barney doll available?? hahaha
morning all
y not move dowling back to his natural safety position & see if he can surpass miano’s boy moneilh(sp?). not saying he can’t play but a starting back 4 of roberts, mouton, erob, dowling is pretty damn good
tirty six
glorious morning and howzit to tsaiko country

rob25 sending you email check um out
myki and sjmacro no forget practice updates, latas will be looking for some report around noon
Morning Tsaikos!
Good to be home & see the blog & ST back! Love the pics!
The humidity in Florida wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, until I was walking from the bus to the Hawaii tailgates with the sun blazing. Thank goodness for some rain before the game & then cloud cover from about halftime. The Florida fans we talked to (before & after the game) were really nice. Maybe they didn’t see us as a threat or maybe we were just lucky.
Don’t know if this was already mentioned, but the Florida band isn’t allowed to play on the field. They played the quickest national anthem I’ve heard in a while from behind the visitors’ benches. At halftime they played from their endzone seats.
The stadium is impressive. We had really good seats – 2nd level, 2 rows from the bottom. The team did the ha’a right in front of us. Quite an experience to watch a college football game where the attendance was 90,575.
Back to work & sorting through the mess that is my desk…
hey midori – you check out tebow’s forearms?? how they look??
midori good to know you, mom and pops made it back aok. you guys comming this saturday? if so see you dea and leaving you alone now so can catch up on work. l8tas
Hey welcome back ST- I was having blog withdrawals!
I like those new rules. I think it’s good that Coach Mack is stricter with the team. I can’t wait for Saturday’s game. BTW can anyone tell me what the deal is for parking at the stadium??? I’m not a season ticket holder so does that mean I can’t buy a parking pass for the main lot?
S Malai- from what i’ve heard, just the inner circle parking is reserved. The outer lots (upper and lower Halawa etc.) are available first come first served.
eh stretch where you hidding gnalo. neva hea from him since time at corner kvillage store.
Parking in the lower lot opens at 130. It is open to everyone. The open parking lot closer to the stadium opens at 230 and is open to everyone. The Parking in the “ring” right around the stadium is where a pass is required.
kden gotta do my patrolling duty some rumors about one little pilipino guy with huge forearms trespassing on school grounds.
catch everyone lattas
esme whoooooooooooooooooosh
Thank God you’re back!!! It’s hard to find quality, lurkable blogs.
GO WARRIORS!!!
Something I read on the tizer’s commentary section about 5-0 being back…
Billium wrote:
Enough with all this fluff. UH needs to win football games. Last year is history, a great season, a weak schedule and embarrassment at the end. UH will need more than just music, ti leaves, a fat mascot and excited fans to win.
Brah… Couple things… Georgia wasn’t embarrassment… Music gets players fired up (go watch OIA football @ Castle) ti leaves are sacred brah! and Vili NOT FAT, braddah just big boneded… and EXCITED FANS IS WHAT WE’RE ALL ABOUT
I heard the WAC-ESPN contract got renewed thru 2017 with double the exposure for football, plus other sports getting more exposure. I don’t know all the details, but its good that our conference is being rewarded!
Does anyone know where the Hawaii section is going to be for the Fresno game?
9 more years ofespn, that’s great news. did we even get 1% of da sec’s 2 billion figure. ah can’t be that bad, at least we aint the MWC, lol 🙂
game saturday, nfl/fantasy season starts tomorrow and in full swing sunday, and da plane leaves for seattle/oregon tuesday, cheeeehooooo.
FYI…
In Las Vegas at the Nike Outlets they have UH Apparel and merchandise. Nike Jackets, wind jackets, shooting shirts, t-shirts and from what I was told they had jerseys as well. They also had a ton of Boise State stuff that was still on the racks. The outlet that is on the South End had more than the one right of of I-15. Stock up.
story on da advertiser about detroit runnings backs pretty funny. rudi takes tatum’s job, tatum takes rudi’s luggage. now i don’t feel so bad about acting childish at times 😆
Good morning gang…nice to see the Tsaikos made it back from the Swamp in one piece…hope to see everyone on Saturday.
Once again thanks to all those that made it to Genjis on Saturday for the TV Gate veiwing. We’ll be having one for the OSU game so stay tuned for more details either later today or tomorrow….
Good to hear about Coach’s 48 hour rules. Discipline is where all good football starts.
GO WARRIORS!!!
Garret,
mahalo for the props, just hoping Weber can give UH a game and that everyone stays injury free. they’re excited just to come to Hawaii and play in Aloha Stadium against a team that just finished playing 2 of the top 10 teams in the country.
GO WARRIORS
GO WILDCATS
does leituli look like he’ll make it back in time for OSU, hate to have to move Ahsoon back out to tackle, he looks much better on the interior.
couture/lesnar ufc 91 november 15, 2008, hope it’s not da same da as a home game. still waiting for BJ Penn/ GSP II, hope it happens December 27. would be even better if that wasda main event at Aloha Stadium next July
blog is slow today…what’s up???
Looks like TG may be manning up. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
What do people thing of the new underarmour uniforms? The white jerseys kind of remind me of retro jets uniform. Ugghhh.
I like the old uniforms better. Look more hawaiian style.
Bulla, how is the Beast doing on the Weber State depth chart? And what’s his number?
I am sad to announce that
Hoohiki is da winner of last weeks pik’s wit 7 – 21
That’s good news about Graunke. It’s not very surprising, either. Between he and Inoke, our QB spot is going to be very solid. Brent and Greg are great players too, but they need a little more time in the system.
Look for a Weber St. team with a lot of heart on Saturday. They are a good game for UH at this point in time. I feel that both teams will be dominating in their respective leagues as the season progresses.
OH snap…DPK is here.
Now for this weeks game UH vs Weber ST.
38 – 14 Pomai
Our head coach is one of the most Akamai guys out there. How fortunate we are to be able to have this moment in UH history.
Everything is a counted blessing.
Bulla –
Awesome of photo of two beasts in the previous blog.
I can see both of you guys are dreaming BIG and living that dream!
GO WARRIORS
GO WILDCATS!
manoa mist,
ryan is #95, listed #2 on the depth chart for NG and also will play DT. last week he went in on the 3rd play of the game, almost had a sack…played the entire 2nd half…..forced a fumble on the 4 yd line as Montana Western was going to score, and his DE returned it 96 yds for a TD…..make memories
GO WARRIORS

you know what is funny; last week when we were up there for the first game, ryan was walking from the bookstore, and i didn’t recognize him with his hair, and he got taller, and thicker. must be the high altitude training and cheap steaks.
Oh snap?

princess’ classmate,
Nov. 15 is a bye week for UH Football. No conflict there, thank goodness. This weekend sets up perfect for me. Watch UFC 88 and that should be pau just in time for UH game. Perfect.
ST says:
Wait till you get to my vintage … like the song goes: “it’s a long long while, from May to December…”
Pomia – my predictions:
Kokane – 18 + 0 + 1
Stretch – 10 + 3 + .25
James – 14 + 2 + .5
Homey – 6 + 6 + 0
Pride. – 0 + 0 + 2
Legend: (Beers) + (Shots) + (#’s of poke)
Hey Stephen,
Question, when a player is asked to move to another posoition and still hasn’t received a #’d jersey for practice what are the coaches telling him?
If you have any insight on this please comment. I just think its unfair to that player.
morning tsaikos,
cant tell you how happy tyler is taking some snaps. if he is the best qb we got my gut feeling says go with him regardless of his shortcomings. my brain says well you know its about character, descipline, blah yada blah yada……i am hoping to win out the rest of the season…if tyler can do that for us, then go with him regardless of what he does….yeah yeah i know its selfish and maybe wrong.
on another note, ST does it make a hell of a lot of difference that Coach Mack has never been a college level head coach before in his ability to make calls under the gun i.e. with the pressure and time sensitivies within the course of a game?
ok out of deference for da beast, da higgins’ boys, and their respective families i WILL NOT make a gameday prediction of score.
and i WON’T scream for the home team in the presence of these folks. clarification: in ear shot presence of these folks.
Pomai;
UH 63
WS 49
UH 31, Weber 20
Hawaii 45, Weber State 27
ok prediction time so lets see UH 48 Weber State 13
lunch time so howzit going everyone
playing nicely?
U2B Baller:
I think it’s just a matter of the equipment staff being overworked.
The roster really expanded this week, with about 20 players added, and UH had been out of town for a week. It’s a matter of time to get the numbers put on.
There’s no concern now.
But if there’s no number on game day, well, then that would be a problem.
Not to say that I’m trying to match-make Calvin from Kona with the Daily Dish, but can somebody list Calvin’s best qualities in a couple of sentences?
(beers) + (shots) = (lbs of poke) for me
12 + 0 + .5
no good qualities here
Tyler I accept your appology. Hang in there and I wish you the best.
How ancient is Ferd?
Where can I find info about parking around the stadium?
i tell you….coach mac is a special kind of guy.
first,
he takes on a job that comes with a target on his back. yah, the spotlight is on constantly.
second,
he cleans house, sets his rules up. discipline is installed first and starting with the projected starting qb he employs his rule and stands by them.
third,
he does have tough love, but he has the heart of the Man upstairs by still offering those who comply a second chance.
fourth,
he is a workaholic and a very astute manager of the game called football. evidence the amount of preparation he put in planning and leaving no stone unturned including a nurse on a road trip that no one else would ever will duplicate in the future. that will be an ncaa record for longest trek for a college football game. put that in the book.
fifth,
he is a man of his word. the players play for him and the university, something that he instills every day at practice.
sixth,
he truly cares about his team, his family, and now, his state. he exudes the passion.
seventh,
he will be and the university will be reaping the rewards of this man’s character. i really believe that he will take this program to the next level. he has waited all his life to be here in this state, in this university, coaching this team.
(…to be continued)
eh iwondawhy was that you at genji’s. if so did you enjoy yourself and glad you came. den maybe can change name to deylikemedeylikeme bwhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
eh pride no act I can take more poke den that 😀
koakane,
my fellow DMHS alum, I beat you to the 48-13 pick already, sorry.
….continued
he has the back of this state. now all we gotta do is show up. buy a ticket attend the game.
i was a life long fan, well i still am, who used to sit in the old termite palace as a kid. for the longest time since moving to the aloha stadium i would watch the tv broadcasts and attend an occasional game. enter ppv and i would sit in my comfy sofa with all the comforts of home, yah, like gigi i had the ac going on, the big screen, the familiar restrooms, surround sound blaring, cold ones at arms reach, pupus, and the like.
last year because of my fellow tsaikos and the constant urging of one stephen tsai, i started attending more games i even paid scalpers prices for the boise st and washington games. i even flew in my game partner from the west coast for those great games.
this year, i said no turning back, not on my warriors. yah, i passed up the ppv package and bought season tickets. (that beats jumping over the stadium walls at the termite palace, besides i would get stuck).
so, i am telling you tsaikos if you truly are one like the rest of us nuts here then you gotta take the next step. hop the wall, be there at the opening day game. if you come to one game it is this one. support the boys in a moment when they really need us behind them. because they really do.
this game could very well define the kind of team that we will be for the rest of year.
be there!!!!
…nuff said.
ST – you trying to be a matchmaker?? I think that’s your part time job and to try to figure out who’s checking out who
koakane….what happened?
did you ever go on your budweiser strike?
if not, when will it start?
Pomai,
Warriors bounce back
34-13 d1shima
Pride.,

Gotta esme.
Will read al-san’s list bumbai…
djmitchco
thanks bud. and thank goodness UH got a bye, would hate to have to miss that rumble, btw heard any news lately about BJ/GSP II??
Hopefully, waving to all of the Fresno fans that are leaving the game because we are blowing them out.
ST,
you can match-make me with anyone but Homey
Does anyone know if they serve beer at Reser Stadium? (Oregon State) I was reading the stadium rules (you know, leisure reading) and they keep mentioning “no alcohol”
#85
In most college systems the head coach is like the CEO. It is the coordinators that make the offensive and defensive calls. JJ was one of the few head coaches to call the offense plays but it was Coach Mack making the defensive calls.
calvin….i heard koa-mahu is looking for a partner.
calvin….no alchohol at reser?
i think stretch will give up his seats now.
oooooh, tanks eh…Al
11 million released to fix parts of da stadium. need a LOT more than that, but that’s a start, i guess we no can be picky about it
dpc,
I haven’t heard anything about BJ/GSP II lately. Last I heard was maybe New Year’s, but I think GSP wants to take a break. He’s fought 3 times this year already. So I think it will be early next year.
i’m glad to be back hawaii’s cool weather.
i’ve never been so hot or sweated so much in my life that week in florida.
we got lucky saturday with the overcast weather and clouds.
Calvin from Kona:
Don’t know for sure, but if I remember correctly, the last time I was Reser Stadium a couple of years ago, beer was only served at the beer garden area inside the stadium end zones…sorry…
BTW, does anyone know where the Hawaii section will be for the Fresno game? Looks like I will be able to go, but too late to request tickets from UH…
Calvin, you might change your mind when you see Homey’s forearms up close.
Rob25:
“Hopefully, waving to all of the Fresno fans that are leaving the game because we are blowing them out.”
Couldn’t agree with you more!
P.S. Nice sign someone held up for you at at the swamp!
Al, I was thinking of asking Koa-mahu out on a date, but I didn’t want to step on Koakane’s toes.
Warriors 63 Weber State 13
No shame, let it rip!
Good to be back on dry land. Welcome back ST!
Good afternoon everyone!
All the kudos go to XLiz. She maintained the lifeboat, not I.
CfK – you’re not my type anyway. pffft
Pride. – homey = ? + ? + ? (game day decision)
This google chrome is pretty fast. Easy to use and straightforward with it’s instructions. Now they just gotta work out some of the kinks that was noted in some of the chrome blogs.
Good for Graunke, keep working hard on the field and keep your focus in the classroom.
Hi XLiz!
al the abstinence is ova and stretch fulfilled his obligation. it ended the monday after the kk call. so pigskin pig out and pre celebration drinks was on him as witnessed by myki and sjmacro. and that reminds me … mahalo to stretch and all who wished me their best during this ordeal. was not easy and at times very tempted to throw in da towel but made it thru the darkside. all’s well and back to normal.
djmicho neva see da list so neva know what’s up and if das the case den UH 45 Weber state 13. if someone get this then pomai put up da list so can get a good guess in.
Cinci’s Mauk lost another round of appeal for his 6th year. Looks like UH will not be facing him this year. However, by the time Cinci comes to Aloha Stadium their new starter will have gotten a lot of experience…
i have distinct feeling that florida’s d will not be the best we face this year, heard cincy’s is a monster as well. would’ve been very tough to beat them w/ Mauk, will still be tough to beat them w/o him, but that’s 11 games away.
Article about the WAC’s new deal with ESPN…I really wonder what the dollar figure is! My guess is that the MWC will get 2x to 3x the money from their deal, but the WAC will have far more exposure because ESPN >> mtn/CBS Collge Sports (or whatever CSTV is called now).
Koakane.
I sincerely apologize for pushing and prodding you to drink, even though I know that you had commited not to. I was trying to help you and make you stronger. Today, you are a better person knowing that you can resist attempt by idiots like me, who tried to push you off the path to enlightenment.
(Stretch, I did try my best. Sorry for not suceeding. I will give you back the bills that you slipped in my back pocket the next time that I see you.)
pride not to worry already had the right side crushed by asports.
oh wow school almost ending catch everyone lattas.
Myki – I saw that you are bringing Mochiko chicken so I am going to find something else to bring.
I will be bringing my son Alan. He comes in from Fort Leonard Wood MO at about 11:05 and we will head straight to the tailgate. He graduates from Military Police school on Friday and he’s coming home for ten days before shipping out to Okinawa for a two year tour. This will be his last UH game for a while. The last one he saw was the Sugar Bowl, seven days before he left for boot camp. It’ll be good to have him home for a few days.
howzit gang!
Happy Birthday to Coach Miano and Agent Ferd!
looks like Tyler taking a step in the right direction, hopefully he apologized to his mates too

Couldn’t agree with you more!
P.S. Nice sign someone held up for you at at the swamp!
That was my mom! I didn’t know that she was making a sign with my blog name on it. Was great to see it with all my blog friends!
Pomai –
may i pick 59-28 ala 12/1/90?
thanks
(J)J – re Genji’s…are their tv’s HD enabled or just cheap swap meet knockoffs? I swear Raycom (Florida game) sent out HD signals but for some reason I thought I was viewing an analog broadcast on a HDTV.
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the company and got to meet new faces.
Freshmen – Lopaka43 and family, Rabidfanman and friend, Rob25’s calabash family, and Protector.
Sophomore – Kelli and family
Al – 97&100 – well said
Kazz – If can find, I’ll be bringing one of XLiz’s and Mrs. A-House favs…raw oysters. That’s something Rob25 or Rob14 won’t eat!
Loa – coming to the t-gate? jojo will be there!
Homey – i lost the Yahoo feed for a short while on my 6 in. screen
Ewww, Raw oysters! I wouldn’t touch them with a pair of personalized chopsticks!
So Coach Mac has coached at quite bit of different places.
University of Arizona
Aloha High School
Western Oregon State U.
U. of Idaho
San Jose State U.
Stanford U.
Denver Gold(USFL)
Oregon Tech U.
U. of Utah
U.S. Naval Academy
U. of Miami(Fl.)
Seattle Seahawks
U. of Hawaii
Texas Tech U.
San Francisco 49ers
I think by now, all those experiences should make him a pretty decent coach. I think that I’ll put away my “football for dummies” book, and trust that Coach Mac and his staff may know a bit more about football than me and my drinking buddies.
homey – negative, you sure she not going pull one jojo?
Can I borrow those chopsticks Rob?
Rob25 – You are so, so, so, uncultured! 😆
Loa – nah, I don’t know if she is going to show up. Evidently, she is busy being a soccer mom. But yet, I don’t think she will miss the first home game of the season.
Happy Birthday Rich and Ferd.
koakane….you went that far… you should have kept going and then that would have been more normalcy. no?
thanks loa.
Did someone call me uncouth? **Looking around**
That’s okay, my 6’2″ 200 lb son will defend his mom’s reputation on Saturday.
Oh it was homey. Then my youngest son (5’3″, 135lbs) will do!
Pride, you can have my oysters and borrow the chopsticks.
ha ha ha ha!
x-cuz me for laughing at myself but my lis-dexia must be acting up. At first glace I thought homey called rob25 “uncluttered!”
Homey,
I still have your footballs. I’ll bring them on Saturday.
RE: Raw oysters… if can, can, if no can, no worries.
Note to self, introduce Pride. to Rob25’s son as homey.
Kazz – Shoots, bring the balls, not sure if there is room to throw them but at least it will be good to hold them again.
izzy – uncluttered, that’s a good thing.
Happy Birthday to Rich and Ferd.
And a big Happy 4-0 Birthday to jojo’s boss!!!
and DPK, sweeeeet car you got there, very shiny.
homey – thats good for jojo, i wonder if she yells at the refs
Al – your welcome
Rob25 – lmffao
Kazz – i’m glad you said footballs
ok, 10-7 gang, play nice
Hey gang…happy afternoon…
Happy B-Day to Rich Miano and “Ferd”
Pride…I can talk to Koa-mahu…I heard he/she and KK are not on speaking terms right now…MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA….and how come I only get half a “poke”??? Oh, you mean pok-ay…..MWAHAHAHAHAA
KK – Proud of you for sticking out on that bet. I know it was hard especially when those of us who were drinking were tempting you….good that you stuck to your guns man.
Homey – Not sure if was HD or not. Why don’t you call your friend Tina and ask??? Mwahahahahaha
Homey – and raw oysters…you better watch out, you know how Mrs. A-House gets when she eats raw oysters…remember the last time….???
Hey, were is Wreck?? Haven’t seen him in a long time….
Homey – And he’s an expert on the rifle to boot.
I’m not scared of him, but then again I’m his mother and I’ve wiped his butt and then some.
Jake Huen says: “BRING THE PAIN”.
I am fearful for the physical well-being of those on the opposing teams in the future that will have to attempt to stop this man-beast.
Al had to end my ordeal since my body was rebelling and my mind playing tricks on me. For example my teacher noticed I was not falling asleep in da meetings and was answering their request rather immediately.
Pride was real close dat one night at Big D by the airport. Free Heine, great servers, good Haw’n music man I was hurting.
Homey,
Kazz has your balls
Thoughts and prayers to RainbowCliff…he and Mrs. RainbowCliff need them now more than ever.
ST:
Still on Florida time, but a 7 plus footer was on our plane coming home on 9/2/08 – basketball player?
what’s the scoop?
Koakane. Awwwwww. What was so great about the servers?
We will keep Rainbow Cliff’s family in our prayers.
ahouse…you mean you didn’t ask?
garret….what’s up with cliff?
Garret –
You beat me to it. I just read the email and was about to call you. Why do horrible things happen to great people? I spoke with Cliff a couple weeks ago and that was the absolute final alternative for everyone’s safety.
Bloggers – I’m going to coordinate an email with Garret and Cliff to fill in the details. It’s not for this forum.
Prayers, Prayers, Prayers…
LET’S TALK STADIUM:
Last year, we were talking about stadium and trying to figure out if a smaller stadium could be built on the UH campus.
I was talking story with one of the UH people today and he came up with a gem of an idea.
Bishop Estate owns most of the land around that area (Varsity Theatre, Puck’s Alley etc.) and would like to upgrade the area. The Legislature doesn’t have the $$ to handle acquisition, the building of the infrastructure and stadium
Enter a deal with BE/Kam whereby it funds the project, in turn, UH will admit all qualified Hawaiian students in to the UH system including Manoa and waiver of tution.
Another idea floated around – the story in HA today about upgrading Honolulu Harbor. Work out an arrangement with DLNR whereby the UH can pit up an aquatic center – sailing team, canoe, phys ed, for the students, alumni, faculty and would be home to the Hawaiian Voyaging Society. If there is a move towards such a center, there are some people out there that could put up $$$.
Comments?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rich Miano and Ferd Lewis!!
I’m going to TRY to make it to this weekends game with the family. Am looking forward to watching UH play and also Bulla’s and Lyns son “da beast”.
What time is the game anyway?
Prayers for Rainbow Cliff and family…God be with you my friend.
Pride…I may be old but not blind…MWAHAAHHAHA those Heine servers were awesome….LMAO and KK didn’t want to take my picture with them….dang
(J)J – It was definitely not HD. I would ask Tina but she gives me that funny look and wink.
CfK – Yes, Kazz has them.
Rob25 – uhhhhhhh, the worse part about wiping butts is when they start eating solid foods…
R-cliff – Thoughts and prayers be with you.
Tommui – I wouldn’t build a smaller stadium. The Gov already started the ball rolling with refurbishing Aloha Stadium. Plus if a stadium is built on or near the Manoa campus we may have to do our tailgating in Palolo.
Wena – Last I heard the game was at 6:05 p.m.
EXTRA TICKET FOR WEBER ST GAME
I have an extra single ticket for the game this Saturday compliments of g-nalo. If anyone needs one, email me at stretch6592 at yahoo and I can arrange to give it to you. First come, first served.
Stretch – What happened? G-nalo’s date jojo’d him?
What’s wrong with Palolo? Get pretty people living in Palolo.
Tommui…I agree with Homey. I wouldn’t build a smaller stadium. An on-campus stadium would be a nightmare as far as parking is concerned. Maybe KS/BE should look at developing the area into smaller shops, cafes, and student housing. Really brighten up the place and make it look less run-down. More student housing will allow more students to live on-campus (even those who live on Oahu who want to get out on their own for a while). The less of a commuter school you make it, the more students may feel an attachment to the school, which could possibly result in more students attending games at both the stadium and SSC…and possibly result in more students being willing to donate a few dollars to the University once they graduate.
I mean really, with over 200,000 graduates from UH, raising money shouldn’t be a problem and the campus could be world class and one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. If every graduate just donated $5, that would equate to $1 million for UH. Imagine if everyone could donate $100…UH would be flush with cash for resources and facilities. However, for some reason, UH graduates don’t like to give back to the school. I know that I donate money every year to UH as do many others. I also donate money to my high school. But many people I know only donate money to their high school and could care less about UH. Truly sad.
Stretch..where is the location of this ticket??
Nothing is wrong with Palolo. There’s at least 3 locations in there I can think of to tailgate!
homey, we could block off the streets of palolo.
stretch….not sure if duffer was still looking for a ticket or pride might want to ……………..
OH OH, guilt trip, now I have to start donating to UH.
Oh wait, I didn’t even graduate from high school, never mind.
jojo’s place would be nice its nearer to the bus line and there’s a school across the street so joje can school uncle homey again.
Just tried calling ALL the CompUSA stores over on Oahu. Nada, Nothing but recording.
Internet still showing all the locations.
Any left? I need something from them and the mainland only like mail out Ground UPS. Aaargh.
Little help?
Going back to the Warriors, hopefully after the game this Saturday, both teams come away with no injuries. Then the Warriors will be at near full strength as they take on OSU and Weber ST will be ready for their homecoming game against Dixie St.
Maverick…
As far as I know, all teh Comp USA stores closed down.
al – I’ve been training so I think I’m ready for joje!
The ticket is Section H in the blue level. If someone needs one to get into the game, can sit anywhere.
Mav – What do you need from them? Can you get it from another retailer?
Section H is pretty good! I wonder if my wife wouldn’t mind sitting by herself…in the endzone. JUST KIDDING!!!
fyi – joje is now taller than homey
Thanks Jesse.
Dag nab it, I better read the news more often.
Homey, calling around. Video card for the PC. Office Max get, but twice the price from Comp USA.
I don’t light my cigars anymore with those Benjamins. The savings could equate to a one way ticket for a Warrior game.
Hey, did someone post that Oceanic Cable will only provide the net broadcasting games to existing customers?
The past Hawaiian Tel was to anyone. Some of us don’t have cable in our area, only satelitte and DSL.
If so, I’m scr*wed from watching UH games on the net.
Mav – You mean nothing from Amazon, Best Buy, or Circuit City?
What? joje is at least 5’3″!!! OMG! I gotta out-quick her.
Homey, Shucks, forgot about them. Tanks, eh ! I’m on it.
Mav – at least with Best Buy and Circuit City they have in-store pickup.
Hey everyone
see you folks will be meeting my son the Devil Dog at the football game this weekend
Hey Frank! Do me a favor, when you talk to your son, put in some kind words for me. Thanks!
Homey…no scared ’em…ha ha ha
haiku for homey
he is a really nice guy
that is all he is
Happy birthday to Rich and “Ferd”!!!
Pomai, my pick for this weekend is Beast 21, Warriors 42.
Frank, keep well in Texas and in the Middle East.
Is there a delivery service for the food from this Saturday? Dang, I can practically smell the foods on the grills.
Good to see TG getting his butt back in line. Seemed he learned from T. Chang how to “do” classes. Better straighten up, young man! The rest of the world may not be as kind and patient as Coach Mack has been.
(J)J – Eh! no make trouble! 😆
I may have to come in my gigi disguise.
Extra ticket is GONE
jojo – Thanks, I think.
Stretch – Hubby is coming without gigi?
Circuit city is the answer. Free shipping too. Mahalo Homey. Made my day. Not too many choices over here in Hilo. :<
I must have forgotten or missed something but I didn’t know you were in Hilo.
al:
I hear this voice in my head that says “leave him alone” – hmmmmm, now who would tell me that?
Hey Maverick…How’s Goose? MWAHAHAHHA Sorry, just saw a rerun of Top Gun….
Hey A-House…welcome back. Hope to see you on Saturday at the T-gate…and Midori and the Mrs.
classic first part of da animals this afternoon
they discuss tommy bowden, head coach of clemson, he was so puzzled at how bama destroyed them, he called nick saban to ask for help. i would’ve loved to hear how that conversation went down.
i know they were gonna get to discussing rudi johnson/ tatum bell and the luggage incident, that’s another one i would’ve wanted to witness in person
Jesse-
Try going a bit further back in time. The Maverick Show. James Gardner. Black & white. More entertaining too. That’s my era.
If Top Gun is on the Boob Tube, 2 much time on ur hands. Bawahhhaaa.
Maverick…I’ve seen re-runs of Bret Maverick starring James Garner…but not the original airings…too young….LOL
…Guess I’m too old for the last two decades.
Give me the old westerns, or bust.
Prayers and best wishes for M/M Rainbow Cliff. Whatever it is, I hope it gets better soon.
Homey: dont worry my son is nice, just so long if people are nice..rob25 body guard when im not there…

kazz,
hows your under armour shirts holding out?
i’m glad i had them in florida to work away the sweat, but they’re pretty prone to getting snagged and frayed. and they’re $$$ too.
Snagged and frayed eh? As far as my polos, I try not to wear them on a gameday atmosphere just for going out and stuff.
But yeah, they’re holding up well.
Most recently I bought a UH UA “workout” tshirt when I thought the UA UH jerseys would not be ready for this Saturday, it was the funny one they released which is green but has an “H” logo with tapa print almost written in “invisible ink”. Even upclose it just looks like a plain green shirt.
I’ll wear it on Saturday while I am grilling as I don’t want BBQ smoke all over my new jersey.
Kazz,
Kekoa may have created an image to haunt us throughout the entire season! 😯
Time for eye lid check.
That start time in the morning comes awefully quickly. I just do not see how the district is saving money by starting classes at 7:20 — additional heat and lighting.
Besides all of the studies clearly indicate teens need more and later sleep in order to fully function.
Hmmmm, I wonder if the district is taking any lessons from the DOE? HA!
Good night! See you folks tomorrow!!!
RainbowCliff & his ‘ohana are in my prayers, too.
Happy berfday to Coach Miano & “Ferd”!
homey ~ Where are you getting the raw oysters? I remember when I was a little keed, someone gave my Dad oysters from Pearl Harbor (I think) that were 8″-9″ long. Heat them on the hibachi to pop ’em open, and eat. Oh, yum…
K, back to the grind… Esme & out!
Yeah Kazz, I think I also gave coach Miano a more Hawaiian name instead of Italian, hehehe.
Found this news on Tombo’s site and had to check it out for myself. Maui’a signed by the Bengals! 😀 😯 😆

I don’t know if a-joe is as interested in Lelie now that he’s no longer a Niner. But here’s some more news on Lelie and his signing w/ the Raiders. Let’s hope that Lelie can contribute to his new team.

Football Cards; More Than Just A Hobby
“The top rookies in this year’s class, in terms of football card sales, are: Darren McFadden, Matt Ryan, Felix Jones, Rashard Mendenhall, Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, Kevin Smith and surprisingly, at least to Lee, is Washington Redskins sixth-round rookie Colt Brennan. Brennan’s card sales have been so strong on eBay that it has forced Beckett to reflect his popularity in its magazine as a top-priced rookie.
“I’m very surprised by the market for Brennan,” Lee said. “It could be that there’s a secret band of Hawaii collectors out there that we don’t know about, but I think collectors are likely still in awe of his huge college numbers. Another thing that’s helped him is that Jason Campbell is not a rock-solid starter in Washington, so Brennan could get a shot [to start] in the future. Having said all that, I fully expect the action on his cards to fade significantly once the regular season begins and collectors concentrate on other rookies who are playing.”
Oops – there’s quite a bit more on Lelie in that Nancy Gay column in the above post. Lelie (he’ll be #87) had several possible teams interested in signing him after his release from the Niners…. 😀

24. Miami Dolphins
The Dolphins are a much improved team over last year, thanks to the Jets releasing Chad Pennington, now the Dolphins starting QB. Pennington will keep the seat warm for another Chad — Henne — who had one of the better preseasons of any of the drafted Quarterbacks (right up there with Matt Ryan and Colt Brennan). The defense has some building blocks as well as Bill Parcells went out and found cheap place holding talent to play as he rebuilds the Dolphins through the draft. The offensive line, led by C Samson Satele, could be a strength for the Dolphins in 2008.
Graunke #2 just as I thought… I like the sound of Funaki and Graunke as #1 and #2, rather than Rausch and Alexander. Like I stated yesterday I would line em up like dis…IMO
#1 Inoke Funaki
#2 Tyler Graunke
#3 Brent Rausch
#4 Greg Alexander

Aloha and MAHALO to Frank, aka “Mr. Rob25”?!? 😀
You take care of your soldiers and yourself. The Tsaiko’s will help take care of (at least try to….) Rob25! 😀 😯 🙄
Happy Birthday to Ferd & Coach Miano! 😀
Congratulations to Kortney and family! HELLO baby Josie! 😆
I don’t understand…. why do some of you think that the Weber Grills will score versus the Warrior D??!!! 😯 🙄 😯
supporting stretches confirmation of gates opening for Saturdays game; lower lot across from Richardson field opens at 1pm while parking lot in stadium opens at 2pm. just heard on espn animals show.
LizKauai,
HA! Only now the mainland is just figuring out about “Colt Mania”.
SO WHATCHA GONNA DO WHEN THE SIDE-ARM-GUN-SLINGING-FUTURE NFL PRO BOWLER AND WAC CHAMP AND FUTURE SUPER BOWL-WINNING QUARTERBACK RUNS WILD ON YOU?????
The mainland is not ready. Too bad, Colt-Mania is about to hit them hard.

LK,
I’m glad I got at least 3 Autographed Colt Brennan cards right now.
If I were to get rid of my collection, I still would keep those.
Pauoa Boy – I like your score! Plus – you’re a Marine! So you’re A-OK with any prediction as far as I’m concerned! 😀
With the mystique of Ferd as evidenced by ST with the quotations, maybe Ferd posted as Kekoa at #223.
Howzit everybody,
Just stopping by to see how everybody is doing.
Happy Birthday to Ferd and Coach Miano, with many more to come.
Prayers and safe keeping for Rainbow Cliff and his family.
Also prayers and safe keeping for Frank.

Howzit Kama!…Spock you on Saturday! Keep young Matthew warm on da sidelines, we may have to put him in at QB in the bottom of the ninth to strike out that last batter and win by a touchdown! Huh?? (My wordsmith is still out on strike, I’ve been on my own today…can you tell?)
I was intrigued with Tom’s post #166.
I understand (J)J’s concern about parking. Well, parking at the stadium is already a nightmare. At least in Moiliili people can easily walk or bus to the game.
I’m going to take gas for my suggestion, but what the hell. Maybe a smaller stadium is what we need. I can’t imagine what goes on at other schools where they sell out 90-100 thousand every week. We’re never going to do that here unless we have a smaller stadium.
Imagine if we have 25,000 rabid fans willing to pay $2,000 or more for their season tickets. That’s $50 million in the bank, way larger than the current athletic budget now, and doesn’t even include pay-per-view. That’s just economics – instead of increasing the demand, reduce the supply.
The question is, do we want accessibility to attend games at a reasonable price, or be players in the big show? At some point, we and JD have to decide whether we want to be the big fish of the WAC and go toe-to-toe with Boise and Fresno, or to compete with the really big boys. A lot of us won’t be able to afford to go to games if we want to be real contenders under this scenario, so I really don’t know what the answer is.
wow,
where’s jason been all day? he hasn’t written his daily jab at me yet. he’s also mia on kelli’s campus life blog too…
maybe he’s stuck on an integral or something.
did someone post that Kynan Forney signed with the chargers
Tala and Dane on colts practice squad…what do practice squad players earn if the stick for the entire season
chawan_cut – (Filling in for my buddy Jason…)
Hey chawan …. you’re not “lame” all the time… even for an ICS major…. 😀 😯 😆
Ralph – Yes on Forney. Here’s salary info on practice squad players
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scout_team
Re: Practice Squad – I believe the players also get use of the facilities, eating/training table meals, and travel w/ the team on road games…. I think. 😀
Pomai:
MasaBoy says 63-10 UH.
I say 55 – 13 UH.
BTW, will you be there at the tailgate on 9/6/08? Thought I saw your post that you will be home for that game.
Good to see Graunke taking no. 2 reps and getting back to old form. Pretty big of him to acknowledge that he let fans down as well.
Now my only concern is the receiving corps. Alot of dropped passes in that Florida game!
GO WARRIORS!
UH 52 Webber St. 14
ST – Here’s my (running) list of Warrior players currently with NFL Teams the day before the start of the 2008 season:
Peters – Bears
Mauia – Bengals
Hawthorne – Bills
Purcell – Browns
Laboy – Cardinals
Forney – Chargers
Esera, Uperesa – Colts
McBriar – Cowboys
Satele, Bess – Dolphins
Elam – Falcons
Ulbrich, Sopoaga – Niners
Manuwai – Jaguars
Hunter – Jets
Alama-Francis – Lions
Tinoisamoa – Rams
Lelie – Raiders
Colt – Redskins
I haven’t updated on non-UH players from Hawaii. 😀
Hooray for Graunke! Yes, he fell off the bus for a little while with his academic issues, but according to Mack, he got himself academically eligible again all on his own. The apology to the state really wasn’t necessary, man — I’m just glad you took responsibility and refocused yourself. Re-earn the team’s respect and most importantly, get your degree. You can DO it!
As for Mauia, lucky break for him. (I wonder why Nasti Nate hasn’t gotten more chances in the NFL, sigh.) Work hard and try not to (allegedly) hit people without good reason. Make us proud!
Hey Brew –
Remember the old days when the only ex-Rainbow (pre-Warriors) in the NFL was Golden Richards? My, have the pastures gotten greener.
My prediction is that Tyler will be starting games along with Inoki. They know the offense. Give GA and BR some time to learn. But, the receivers really need to step it up. TOO MANY dropped passes.
Does Heun have pads implanted under his skin? He must look like a monster in full uniform.
http://www.theoaklandpress.com/stories/090308/spo_20080903450.shtml
HONOLULU (AP) — Inoke Funaki hasn’t started a football game in nearly seven years. But after having doors literally slammed in his face and spending two years on the bench, patience is something the Hawaii quarterback has aplenty.
Rich – Heun probably hasn’t be lifting much due to his back problems. Imagine what he looks like when he’s in prime condition! 😀
here’s today’s news
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSywxO-amTs
c_c – thanks for the link. BTW, was that ST hidden in darkness on the sideline during the beginning of RK’s story? Sort of looked like his posture.
Brew808 purcell signed with the bengals…peters cut by bears, did he re-sign recently…
make that purcell on the browns practice squad.
Ralph, al – Thanks for the updates. I missed Peters getting cut. Okay – so I won’t bother following with da Bears. Purcell is w/ the Browns. Did I miss anyone else?
Rich – ST as “The Shadow” 😀 😯 😆
REPOSTING
let’t try this one more time…………
brew808,
Thank you for keeping track of where the Warriors are in the NFL! I’m going to be off the blog a lot now because of a phone call I got today…so I can’t keep up with that stuff anymore. So, I get my info from the blog instead of looking it up myself!
Looks like Samson has a challenge to start the season.
Congrats Kortney went to mhs with you
Stretch: Let me know if you still need extra ticket to OSU as I definitely have 2 extras now. Will wait to hear from you via email. Section 213, row 29, seats 5-26. UH sections are 212, 213, 225, 226, 227.
Correction sorry..seats 25,26.
Stretch,
I will unfortunately not be able to make it to the Portland tailgate with the Tsaikos. I’m going to be with my parents at the Panda Travel tailgate at the LaSells Stewart Center which is across from the Reser Stadium. My parents bought me a ticket and it will make sense for me to not drive to Portland for the tailgate when I’ll be staying in Corvallis.
al-ski – I don’t know the answer…. so I’ll cheat. Here’s my list of all the “old” guys on the team:
Bear Ah Soon
Keoni Steinhoff
Lafu Tuioti-Mariner
David Farmer
Alonso Chopp (not recruited?)
Tyler Graunke
Dan Kelly (Hmmm… I don’t think he reshirted…)
Keala Watson
Fale Laeli
CJ Allen-Jones
Khevin Peoples
Desmond Thomas
Dane Porlas
Keao Monteilh
And, maybe you were trying to be “tricky” so here are two guys that went on LDS missions. They may be the oldest players on the team:
Inoke Funaki
Viliami Nauahi
Okay, there’s more than 8 names, and but you didn’t phrase the question to list “exactly” the eight players…. Hey – when you can’t aim, sometimes the shot-gun approach works….maybe. 😆
Garret,
I’ll be at the Panda tailgate too…look for the psycho Tsaiko in shorts (no matter what the weather)
brew,
I like the shotgun approach
Calvin from Kona,
I’ll look forward to talking with you there! I’m actually sitting in the Panda Travel section.

Interesting new mobile device company called Peek. They are targeting “soccer moms” with their design and offering an e-mail ONLY (no phone service!) mobile device for $20 per month. I do not understand how they expect people to carry another cell phone in addition to their phone…especially since smartphone devices are so much cheaper now.

how many tsaikos will be at the game?
eh since Al could do dat one again how about trying this one again also …… who is hawaiianbod look a like on the UH team.
answer comming after 10 pm news or if someone gets it before den
Ahem, I was NOT working on an integral. It was this problem:
The guy tutoring my Math 412 class helped me out. Cool dude, he’s a grad student, and he’s in my Math 454 class too.
Anyways, I had a meeting on campus at 5:30, so I didn’t get home and start blogging. I was lurking via my iPod touch, though.
Glad to hear about all the former Warriors getting spots on practice squads. But Forney is not on the practice squad — he’s a veteran, so he’s not eligible. He’s on the Chargers’ active roster. I’m particularly watching him — I’m shocked at the reports that his play diminshed so fast. He was a first alternate for the Pro Bowl in 2005.
Did I scare everyone away?

Aloha Stadium update: What happens next hangs on the outcome of the Transit vote and the Mayor’s race.
Updated request from Kazz: We’re bringing one pop-up tent, two chairs, one folding table, a recycling bin, and a microwave oven with power strip & extension cord for anyone wanting to heat up their potluck contributions. We’ll also bring Ziplock bags to distribute leftovers.
Remember, all HI-5 proceeds will be giving to Dole Middle School’s Cross-Country team to purchase running shoes and new uniforms. See Lee Cataluna’s column in Sunday’s HA for more information. If you want to donate cans & bottles from your home or office, please bring them on Saturday – we’ll take care of everything else. If you don’t have any cans or bottles to contribute, we’ll also be collecting $$$ donations as well. Please make checks payable to Dole Middle School and put Alan Inaba’s name on the memo line.

Here’s one for the sashimi/sushi eaters…
The president of Japan’s Osaka Planning Co. told attendees of the Japanese Seafood Show in July that his tuna makes superior sushi because his company administers accupuncture to each fish prior to its death, in order to reduce stress…. hmmm…
A-House original plans where for us to be home the month of Sept. but then we also wanted to be home for our oldest granddaughters high school graduation in May of next year. So weighting the cost of one trip it was either football or graduation, an graduation won out. There is only one graduation and are plenty football games.
Kelli-
Das aright, us tsaikos no mind if you post now or later… but the simple fact that you posting means that we mean a lot to you… At least that’s what I think… Take it easy, and don’t work too hard girl… you gotta enjoy your college years, especially the LAST one…

Aloha, Tsaikos!
Been lurking today but now is my usual time to post.
Wanted to share a thought I had about our coach’s strategy. I really see Coach Mack taking the long view, building a base that will take us beyond where June Jones got us.
I see that in his outreach to the entire state, and all the high school coaches, in his successful recruiting of local kids that normally would have gone away, and even in the way he called the Florida game.
A lot of fans, particularly on some of the other Hawaii blogs, are upset that he didn’t start Inoki, but I think that what he did was very smart. It may be because now that Colt has been up with the Redskins, I have become more aware of how the NFL coaches look at things, but what strikes me is that Coach Mack and his crew are viewing these out-of-conference games somewhat like NFL coaches view the pre-season.
These games before we start the WAC are excellent opportunities to evaluate personnel, tighten up the offense rhythm/chemistry, and tweak the defense. I don’t mean they are not playing to win, but in some part of their thinking, they are looking at what works and what doesn’t work and pointing towards those big games against Nevada, Fresno, and Boise State.
I expect Inoki to start and have a good game against Weber State, but I would not be surprized if Tyler and Rausch also get significant time in the second half in much the same way that Rausch and Inoki got in to the Florida second half.
I would like to beat Oregon State, but I really want to challenge for the WAC championship, and especially to beat both Fresno and Boise State on their home fields. I saw the promise in the Florida game that if the offense could gel, we could be much better than the pundits expect.
Well, I believe!! Go Warriors!!
And esme and out for tonight…
Al,
How about C.J. Allen-Jones?

Lopaka ~ I agree with you on several points.
1. Coach Mack is building a great foundation for the future in several places. On campus with the team, his coaching staff, the physical plant, and the student support.
2. Coach is also building support off campus with increased funding from the state, donors, and fundraisers.
3. More importantly is his emphasis on recruitment within the local schools, down to the middle school level. That is going to be a huge plus in his drive to field the best players in the state.
4. Whatever the choices are for Coach Mack to make on the field are his perogative. After all, he’s da MAN! All we have to do is support him, period! I don’t want to play his hand. He’s the man who gets paid over a million bucks a year to make the program work, who am I to second guess and sharp shoot his business?
5. SOS was the bully cry of the press last season. They said we were playing “cream puff” teams. That’s all a bunch of hooey! We went undefeated, nobody else did, ’nuff sed!
6. So yes Lopaka, you are correct, we do have an opportunity to practice what we preach with the Non-Con teams….and save ourselves to batter the WAC teams on our way to another Championship Title.
…and on that note, I think I will call it a day, and get to bed. Nyetol!
ltuh…you finally got it. yeah!
as you stated last night you got the first seven.

I just saw a Colt Brennan autographed UH Jersey sell for over $400 on ebay a couple of days ago. The week before Colt Brennan autographed Redskin jerseys sold for $170 and $200+.
I think the UH jersey sold for more $ because supposedly it was an actual game jersery worn by Colt.
Aloha Kakahiaka!!!
Have a wonderful day in Hawai’i nei, nor whereever you are.
Esme & out….
Good morning!!!
Pulling an Esme.
Nitey Nite and Sweet Dreams!
Good Morning Tsaikos!!
I guess I am finally realizing what it’s like to be busy at work again. No more practices and not too much checking out the blog.
I will not have time to stop by for the tailgate this weekend since we’ll be coming late. But everyone is welcome to stop by and say Hi to me while walking into the game. I will be in the top row on the left hand side of Gate 5 when you are walking in, parking 4D. I bought my new black UH tent so it should be up.
See everyone later, I’ll try to check in sometime today.
Morning Stretch!
Awwwww…not even for a little bit?
Great Morning All.
Lopaka43,
Given that UH is in the WAC and that Coach Mack has stated a goal is to win the WAC and get into a bowl, I think yours is a fair assessment of the “preseason strategy”.
For teams like our last opponent who have NC aspirations though, such a strategy would never work. That’s the beauty of CFB in its present state, without a play-off system, EVERY game is crucial. Come Sept. 14, it’s almost a certainty that USC or Ohio State’s season is kaput in terms of a NC regardless of their conference outcome.
Have a great day erryboddy!
HiHo….
Hi d1!
Have a terrific day!
