Warriors remain at No. 5 in poll

Not a lot of movement
Ohio State (24 first-place votes) at No. 1 and UCLA at No. 2
Long Beach State and BYU swapped places.
some juggling after the Warriors, Lewis drop to 8 which moves UCI to 6 and Stanford to 7.

All I can say about the Stanford hire is What the?????? Didn’t see that coming at all. SHOCKED.

They probably struck out with all their top choices wouldnt want UH to hire a guy that couldnt get his team into the ncaa tourney with a ton of talent.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they go another long drought without a title not as long as ours though:(

Sometimes having an abundance of talent can make a coach look good.
I think Stanford is banking on the fact that they can land all the hotshots just on name. All Hamby got to do is no mess up. Just put the girls on the floor and let them do their thing.

Schools like UH take projects and develop them. Stanford take well-developed players and hope they can play together.

I’ve always wondered how good a coach a guy like Andy Banakowski would be if he was coaching UH? Not sure he would be as good as Shoji.

This is just me, but I don’t consider Hambly a “good coach.” He’s a recruiter, but doesn’t do much once they are there. Except that one year they made it to the finals. I know the landscape of volleyball makes it hard for ANYONE to win a national title now days. There is sooooo many good female players that in any given year a top ten, or a Creighton, can win a national championship.

But you have to question when a coach can’t even get his VERY talented and star studded team into the tournament. That alone probably should have knocked him out of contention for the most coveted women’s coaching job in the planet.

I think Sully at Texas will be up for a head coaching job soon.

I wonder if Kalei Greeley will redshirt this coming season. Her surgery on her right shoulder (again) is known to take at least a year of rehab to be at 100%. We all know how the last season went with her being unable to hit. Then she’ll be able to work on her master’s and be 100% for the 2018 season.
