Wahine banquet, Warriors fundraiser, beach sked, Presho
Got a text from Shoji today, some sympathy for the Chargers moving from San Diego. He started chemo this week.
Program should be announcing the new assistant over the next few days.It won’t come as much of a surprise. Sounds like they had about 20 applicants and others making phone calls of interest.
Congrats to Mark Presto, UCI assistant coach. He is receiving the MVB Pae Makaukau Alumni Award at the 7th Annual A’o a Koa Scholarship Dinner this sunday at the SSC

Above photo is of assistant Milan Zarkovic’s mosaic creation. It’s a Celtic cross in homage to Don Murphy. Milan’s item last year sold for $2000.

SandBows open practice next Tuesday. They announced their schedule today.

Added to the roster today are indoor players Sibley and Higgins
mentioned earlier crossovers: Anderson, Mitchem, Kahakai, Castillo, Smith, Guinasso, Maglio.
If the coaching hire is not a surprise then it must not be a “game changing” hire. I would like it be a surprise so we can get excited over the hire.
Sound like maybe Kaleo Baxter got bumped up or Daniel Rasay coming back home. Neither really is all that great.
The beach roster is definitely overflowing with talent. Many won’t play this year though.
Here are my predicted pairs who will play:
Tucker/Martin
Rooks/Homayun (the only returning pair I think)
Huddleston/Ozee
Zalopony/Weaver
Schucht/Maglio
Underdog Pairs:
Kan/Higgins
Hertzog/Shinn
Mitchem/Hertzog
Can’t wait to see how the season turns out
Sorry
Mitchem/Luyties
Congrats to Mark Presho.
3. I think Smith, Mitchem and Kan ( and maybe Kahakai too) will find a way to get in the top 5 duos. Don’t see Zalopany/Weaver being one of the top 5 duos.
I would be okay with Baxter getting the assistant job, but it will probably be a female?
Chemo?? Time to retire….
#6 wow. We are praying for coach.
5. was thinking the same thing about a female. but at this point I think they want to keep as much continuity as possible.
6. what an odd comment. you know he has prostate cancer. what treatment were you expecting? From what I was told, it was detected early and wasn’t widespread. no reason for him not to fully recover and continue to coach if that’s what he wants to do.
new thread up for friday match
