Really not into Japanese teams so I’ll pass.
Why not, should be fun, and hopefully Kanani plays.
Any idea if UH is in the mix for Robins-Hardy?
She is so very impressive and very good all around, How did she not make the senior aces rankings?? or did she?
In the 70’s the Japanese teams were the best in the world, diving all over. I remember watching the national team against US in Hilo with Flo hymen and Debbie Green. Anybody remember them?
Just remembered Kevin Wong said Alohi was going to probably play basketball in college , hopefully for Laura Beeman, and maybe be the next Adolpho.
Looking forward to tonight’s match. It might be more interesting than some of the BW “uno, dos, adios” matches coming up. And it will be interesting to see how Kanani’s game has progressed since turning pro.
Know of at least two other Top 10 teams which played exhibition matches against professional/semiprofessional teams during the nonconference season.
[#1] Penn State opened its nonconf. season at home against Dabrowa (Polish team) & the Lions came up with a sweep.
[#2] Washington played two nonconf. season matches against the Canadian National Team (team boasts several former NCAA All-Americans on its roster) and won both 3-1 at KeyArena.
Said UDub’s McLaughlin about playing 2 matches in which the boxscores won’t be entered into the recordbooks:
“I think it’s about us, it’s about improvement. I’ve always said it doesn’t matter who we play, where we play, when we play, it’s how we play and we control that. I told them one of the most important values that carries the most weight is improvement. It’s just about us getting better, it’s the foundation of our program.”
IT IS ALL ABOUT IMPROVEMENT.
Go Bows!
Too bad the match won’t be shown. I live on a different island so I can’t attend in person. It would have been so interesting to watch.
#8 I know what you mean. I would go to all the matches if i could. My sister folks flew over to watch the week end Arizona was there. They enjoyed not only the matches, but the entertainment at intermission. Thats what we don’t get to see is the entertainment during the intermission on TV.
3. Have said in the past, I don’t know how much interest there is from either side.
will we have a moment of silence for Judy Mosley-McAfee tonight.
That’s nice to hear. She was a great player and even better person
Have always enjoyed when the Japanese teams have come to play against the Wahine. They definitely bring an energetic style and, in the past, that sidearm serve.
