Monday check in
New Teraflex getting finishes touches. Part of the reason they’re still in Gym 1. Plus only one court where they usually use 3. May be in arena as early as Tuesday.
With summer school over, practices have switched 8:30-11:30 and 4-7. at least for now. Things always subject to change.
not much has changed in the routine. three-person rotating triangle trying to keep the ball in play as long as possible. So pass, set, hit one side to the other with players continually rotating positions clockwise so that everyone passes, sets hits. Watched Koelsch in particular. Her footwork has gotten really good, moving to the ball very quickly.
If there is an overall improvement from last week, I think it is in the solidness of everyone’s platform.
Couple of things I forgot to mention in Saturday’s post. Iosia gave the food blessing. She wasn’t expecting to do it, was only going to mention that the food was ready. Then someone called out, “Don’t forget about Grace.” DOVO Aven Lee was going to give it then all of a sudden Ionia started to pray. Surprised many but she did a nice job. Mentioned it to her today and she laughed, saying, “I know how to pray.”
Got to do more informal chats with some of the players I hadn’t chatted with yet. Ross said she worked a lot in her aunt Nohea Tano’s Bobo Tea Shop in Kailua. The California girls agree that people here don’t understand freeway driving. And they had begun to forget they were on an island. One asked about how far to the North Shore. Told them about an hour maybe on a good day. They thought that was nothing in California driving time. I told them one of the things I missed was California freeways.
someone asked on another thread about Spectrum and OC16.
nothing changes other than the name
Believe if you go to the TV channel guide 16 is listed as SpectrumOC16
Ran into van Tilburg today. He said summer went well, was looking forward to the season. said he spent some time up at the Worsleys in Moraga, Calif., before coming back.
Good deal with the new teraflex. Goes perfectly with the new coaching staff, new uniforms and new attitude.
Hope fans pack the arena for Robyn’s “welcome home ” match. Would be a great way to start the new era.
Thank you Cindy for keeping us in the loop. I always look for a new thread daily from you. I can only imagine how improved our team will be in their foot work, passing, confidence, and being more than one dimensional. I am excited for Kendra Koelsch and all the players platform improvement I know how much they will enjoy and appreciate the new teraflex coming from Gym 1…It was a major blessing in disguise…A little or alot of sweat can only help them with their total conditioning for this coming season. I can’t wait !!!!
Have Greeley, Guinasso, Lipscomb and Burns been cleared? I hope the seniors have a big year especially Greeley, who will hopefully be able to play through the season at full strength. I’d also love to see more from Koelsch, whether it’s at opposite or setter. I liked what I saw from Guinasso last year and hope to see more of her.
#4 agree with you comments about Greely, Koelsch and Guinasso. Especially Guinasso didn’t understand why she wasn’t playing more last year.
OC16 is or was channel 12 before. OCSports was channel 16.

#6. Yes all of our Rainbows was shown on OC 12 before changing over to OC 16….only High School Sports use OC 12 today
6. ” OC 16 ” for TWC/Spectrum is actually Channel 12 and OCSports (Rainbow/Warrior and Wahine sports) is Channel 16.
They use the name OC16 for Channel 12.
Concur with #4 and #5. I would love to see Greeley back in form. I have also liked the way Guassino plays. I am sure the time has come for scrimmages. It makes practice a lot more fun and the team will begin to take shape. And then we can finally begin our second guessing and arm chair coaching! Yeh!!
Thank you Cindy for the updated info of the 3 recruits that I questioned. So that means the assigned jersey #14 and #16 will not be filled. So we have 18 players on the roster this coming season.
