The Rainbow Wahine soccer team honored assistant coach Kathy Carey after its final spring practice on Friday. Carey is retiring after 23 years, and has been with the program since its club days and transition to Division I.

Carey was a volunteer assistant but was valued by head coach Michele Nagamine for her mentorship of players and staff.

She’s been often referred to as the “mother of Hawaii soccer.”
