Video: UH soccer breaks in new digs
All those millions of dollars pumped into the Clarence TC Ching Athletics Complex are finally starting to pay off.
The Hawaii soccer team is basically settled into its new facilities — soccer-specific coaches offices, a team meeting room, a locker room and a training room — located beneath the stands and pressbox constructed next to the track and field area.
There’s also a (as of yet unfilled) trophy case in the main hallway inside, facing the direction of the UH tennis complex and the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
The team seems to approve of its new digs.
“I love it. It feels like home,” senior midfielder Krystal Pascua said. “It’s nice. It’s way better than the public lockers.”
The team’s adopted words “DETERMINED, “‘OHANA” and “PROTECTIVE” adorn the walls in the locker room.
“It was like Christmas when everybody was checking in (for fall camp),” UH coach Michele Nagamine said. “We’re very grateful to be in this facility. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I can absolutely say it’s been well worth the wait.”
Man, all that is very nice and deserved for UH Soccer.
I suggest UH needs to start charging admission to their games. Some gate money is better than nothin
I concur Pocho! They could at least ask a couple bucks. But the program doesn’t seem to have an outreach program. Maybe they have all the $$ they need. 😉
