GO WARRIORS!
I don’t like how this season was scheduled. 1 bye week by a few weeks ago and now in the middle of 3 (!!!) bye weeks (1 alumni game this weekend does NOT count). It’s not like being in a new conference was announced just before the start of this season. UGH.
Ditto, ManoaFan, this season has no continuity. This is a very exciting team to watch and I feel that we are being “short changed.”
Yeah the schedule is just terrible this season although I know it picks up in in at the end of the month, the excitement is lost now from the ucla series
hope they with both basketball teams losing a lot maybe casual UH fans are ready to support winners and join the warrior bandwagon and go to matches.
Any news on Spring training for Wahine indoor team? Any teams coming to Hawai’i for Spring? Any news on NEW recruits for next season’s Wahine indoor?
Is there a cost to attend the alumni on Sunday?
ya….is Sunday free? I went to hawaiiathletics.com and there was no option to purchase tickets for the alumni match.
Beach team got a commit from Megan Widener
We have discussed why the season is the way it is for a while now. Agree it is not ideal but many teams having problems filling dates.
It’s not like UH hasn’t tried to fill the dates but just because they want teams here doesn’t mean teams want to come. Nor are they going to travel.
WF, why would you say that about men’s and women’s basketball. There is not a whole lot of overlap left. Men have 2 home games left Feb. 22 and 24. Women have 3 home games between now and March 3.
Men’s volleyball has 16 matches left starting next week.
5. No spring matches. No news on recruits.
7. free as far as I know.
8. Beach has a number of commits for 19 and 20. am in process of doing story.
Widener not on list I have.
Too bad Noreen Iosia isn’t still playing Beach (as a 5’11 setter who was good enough to break into the top pairs) as she was already on an indoor scholarship. Seems like Widener (a 5’10” setter), would be on a scholarship if she is a graduate student. Not sure if that is the case, but it would have been nice (for the Beach team at least), if they could have utilized an indoor player and used the scholarship to attract another player (maybe a 6′ or “big”), for next year.
I’m not saying Noreen still wanted to play Beach either…more just an example of how a couple of crossover players can strengthen a team.
11. I wouldn’t worry about Beach. They have plenty of incoming recruits. and their scholarships are spoken for for the next two years. some three years out. They only have 6 scholarships to divvy up.
Iosia doesn’t want to play beach, wants to concentrate on indoor. Only crossover is Maglio but she is done with indoor. It is a HUGE commitment to play both especially when indoor is doing their spring training. Magpie said she is relieved she only has to do one sport this spring.
