Defending champion USC at 1, runnerup Pepperdine at 2

SandBows open this week with No. 17 Stanford and UCLA on Saturday, Ching Complex
Poll has expanded from 15 teams to 20 this season
as for men
Anteaters have dropped their last 2, both at home, in four; to UCLA on Feb. 3. and Pepperdine on Feb. 14
Deflate takes 2 weekly honors from BWC, POW and DPOW after the Beach downed No. 2 UCLA in 4 last week
DeFalco recorded a double-double with season-highs of 17 kills and 12 digs as the Beach registered a 23-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 victory in front of a pumped up crowd of 4,560 at the Walter Pyramid.
DeFalco hit .419 (17-4-31) for the match as he led the Beach in kills, digs and blocks (5), helping LBSU remain undefeated on the year at 13-0.
DeFalco’s five total blocks (one solo) helped LBSU hold UCLA to its lowest hitting percentage (.191) of the season. In addition, UCLA’s 15 points in the second set represented the team’s lowest point total in a set this season.
Freshman of the Week went to UCI’s Joel Schneidmiller for the fourth time this season.
Schneidmiller produced 14 kills, five digs, two aces and a block assist in UCI’s four-set loss to No. 12 Pepperdine.
Schneidmiller’s 14 kills was second on the Anteaters. He averaged 3.50 kills and 4.10 points last week.
I guess the committee has to go on last seasons finish. I anticipate the poll will change week to week. I predict Hawaii being the top 3 teams in the country by the end of the season. This team is very athletic, deep, and with tons of experience.
I am expecting a stellar season!!!
Can’t wait for the pairing’s.. This team is stacked. Who is doing the recruiting? Need to have them help the indoor team.
Huge games this weekend vs Irvine. History. Big West opener!!!
Hope the team layoff didn’t hurt the momentum, kinda hard to amp it up again with this long ass bye…. Hopeful for the sweep. Protect dis Hale!!
Recruiting from Canada is smart especially when we don’t get the very top US recruits (aside from Martin).
I am not sure how we’ll fair this season. Pepperdine, Trojans and USC have really re-loaded. Cal Poly is going to be strong as is Long Beach. With only 8 teams at the Gulf Shores every match will matter.
Too bad the forecast for saturday in Manoa is heavy rain and possible thunder/lightning yikes.
No news on the indoor recruiting makes me kinda scared what’s happening within the program? Been looking for leads but nothing …..
I’m hoping the coach(es) are doing their thing
Lexi Sun to the wahine, fingers crossed.
Probably a long shot but she is transferring out of Texas.
#6 I am a little concerned too … but this regime is operating in a different light so I kind of understand. This staff do not like to give out information unnecessarily. Maybe they think other schools will try and steal the recruit away or the recruit was to to have a change of heart and decommit
Sometimes it’s better to keep its on the down low until the kid is officially enrolled.
Maybe Robyn looks at the way Bill Bellichick runs the NE Patriots(low key and efficient) and is patterning herself after him.
Showtimes and Lakers flashiness is not Robyn’s style anyway.
Is Lexi Sun really leaving Texas?
Maybe Casey can convince her former high school teammie to come here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Shoji seemed like a more talkative person in general.
I remember an article about the time the season ended that said Robyn received dozens of inquiries about transfers every week, so it seems likely she will be bringing in some other players, but we might not hear about it until signing in April.
Agree that Lexi Sun is a longhshot, probably going to a PAC 12 school.
I heard through the grapevine we have couple transfers in Manoa with the possibility of a couple more.
Hopefully they are impact transfers that can start right away.
Reyn akiu listed as hawaii player?
Good get if true, wahine needed a libero.

She is listed with 2 years remaining, but looks to be an error as she was a junior last year. Iosia and Granato are both listed incorrectly as well in terms of years remaining.
#14, Nice catch. Akiu isn’t on the Texas Tech 2018 roster. Looks like she has a year of eligibility left. Akiu, Granato, Iosia, and Ruddins appear as the only Big West reps at the USAV WNT Tryouts in March.
Akiu has transfered to UH, and she has only one year to play. But I believe she might have a redshirt year as well.
So Castaneda, Krug, Akiu, plus one more. Possibility of another. Looking good.
I will say it again. Lea Monkhead. She is the real deal.
2. the beach team is recruiting for beach. indoor recruits for indoor. there isn’t
19. do you mean Leah Monkhouse?
She is
My feeling about indoor. They will announce when they announce
Had asked Ah Mow-Santos about spring matches. she said none at the moment but things might change.
