This was the first time that Long Beach was taken to five sets in their undefeated regular season (outside of exhibition matches). Irvine has a shot at taking revenge on Irvine’s own home court tomorrow night. I watched the whole match online and indeed it was up and down for Long Beach, not an entirely consistent team tonight. Irvine found chinks in their armor. So Long Beach is not totally invincible.
At the Matadome, CSUN over UCSB, 16-15, 25-21, 25-16, 25-23
Warrior Starters Worsley, Matautia, Gasman, Parapunov, Tuileta, Solbrig, van Tilburg.
Must be the season. Gov. Ige in the arena.
Concordia-Irvine BEAT BYU in Provo, coming back from down 0-2 to win in 5…Major upset and does serious damage to BYU’s at-large bid hopes.
Gasman on the service overpass gives UH the 15-12 lead at the TTO
This team is still making way too many bad/careless unforced hitting errors just playing very poor volleyball:(
Maybe time to start Rosey again.
And just like that UCSD up 18-16. TO UH. Parapunov having another off night. surprised we haven’t seen Rosenmeier yet. SVT took a swing on the right, off a tight set by Tuileta, went long.
Another serving sub for UH, this time Cowell. his ace then kill by Matautia put UH up 19-18. TO UCSD
UCSD on a 3-0 run, block Matautia twice, to take a 21-19 lead. TO UH
8. Surprised we haven’t seen Rattray for Rado…
Kill by SVT, solo stuff by Solbrig and UCSD puts Hawaii up 22-21. TO UCSD
Block gives UH the 25-22 win.
Ahhhh, offense having a hard time producing results. Feel like it’s messy plays all around, looks like they want to play seamless on broken plays but it just gets ugly. Wonder if it would help us to speed the tempo up faster?
UH up 15-13 at the TTO.
14. that would require better passing
UH up 18-13. TO UCSD. G. Worsley holding serve.
Two aces by SVT and it’s 21-14. To ucsd
Ahh Cindy yes that is true. At least things are starting to click again. Is it me or does our blocking seem like they are trying too hard and getting a lot of net violations? Our blocking doesn’t look pretty.
Much better set two, blocking and defense slowly picking up hope the funk is behind them.
Solbrig with the inside slide to end it 25-17.
Ace by Gasman makes it 9-5 TO UCSD
UH wins the challenge for a touch on an SVT attempt and Rosenmeier’s aces makes it 15-7 at the TTO
UH up 22-15 TO UCSD
Uh needs four tries to end it it 25-19
Nice to see them bounce back and get confidence. Hopefully we can steady our passing. That slide 3 is pretty awesome. Go warriors!
Not a bad outing all things considered. Tui played well. Passing was only so-so. The battle as to who starts at 2nd. left will go on all year. Gabe Worsley was a great guest on the wrap-up show. Over all and enjoyable evening.

3: Kan/Weaver (UH) 15-21, 21-13, 15-9

5: Zalopany/Dreeuws (UH) 17-21,21-16, 13-15
Beach bows continue rolling although it was close and I am sure they will meet up again in the big west tournament.
it’s weird the wahine don’t play pepperdine this season.
i think they’re bitter about the format Hawaii used last year when they lost to the Wahine (5-0). They played each flight one at a time versus 2 flights at the same time. This is just speculation of course.

new thread up on SandBows. Thank you for the help. was out paddling.
29. never heard anything about bitterness and I’ve known Nina since we were at UCLA together in the 70s. She would have said something.
Hawaii won 4-1 in a TV-dictated match. the only single matches were at Flts 1 and 2.
3-4 and 5-6 held simultaneously.
