Who are the 4 that Tiff said are competing for the left side hitter ?
Stjin, Rosenmeier, Matautia and ?
13. Rattray.
UH on a 8-0 run. up 9-1
Hawaii wins 25-9
Island man….I think the 4th OH hitter competing for the spots is Colton Cowell. I heard Tiff mention on the radio that Wade is very happy with Cowell progress and is in the running.
Rattray played OPP the entire 3rd set and was seen in pregame mostly hitting from the RS so I’m not sure Rattray will see much time at LS. He is Parapunov’s primay backup and will probably spell Rado if he struggles.
I also don’t think Brandon Rattray can pass at a decent enough level for him to play the left side. Don’t think he passed one ball tonight.
i’d say give them a chance to get a feel for the game and being on the court.
thought it was a nice win considering how many players were in and out.
some of you may have lost the radio feed. which also was synced with the Big West feed. was told the line got disconnected for a bit.
Wade looks to be playing multiple players and lineups to start the year. Probably needs to see who wants to play themselves into the regular lineup. Tuileta is the only Senior, and he saw only limited action tonight as a serving sub. I’m hoping he earns a spot, I think they’ll need his leadership.
Last year’s UH started with a very weak Erskine and went 3-0. The next night they got pushed by Princeton to five sets. After that wake-up call, they started to settle in a bit with their lineup against a strong Ball State, winning 3-1. But, that strong group of seniors could right the ship pretty quick. Can juniors on this squad do the same?
From the streaming, looked like Rado put on some muscle, Hope he maintained his flexibility.
Gage looked pretty good as libero and in the drills he looked good hitting. On the AVCA High School All-American team, he was listed as an OH.
JB Kam from Punahou now plays for UC Irvine as an OH.
Stevens gave SC a run for it’s money. Games 2 & 3 were dogfights, with SIT taking game 3. SC’s MB went down with a knee injury.
