  2. Beauston May 2, 2019 2:21 pm

Whoever NCAA uses to keep tabs in the scoreboard needs to get it together. Pretty embarrassing

  3. magyk May 2, 2019 2:33 pm

Is anybody else having problems watching the live stream? The ad plays just fine, then I get a blank screen.

  4. rage May 2, 2019 2:47 pm

    3. I had trouble when I first went to the site, but I refreshed and it worked fine after that.

    This announcer seems very pro-Lewis.

  5. Hi5Ho May 2, 2019 2:49 pm

I’ve have to refresh the screen a few times due to it freezing. The sound is pretty low too.

  6. Hi5Ho May 2, 2019 2:52 pm

Sorry, meant to say that I’ve had to refresh the browser screen a few times due to the stream freezing.

UH should sell those great green shoes worn by the Warriors to the public!
Thanks, Cindy, for all your photos and reporting from CA. You are helping to make us feel a part of what is happening over there!
Hope this goes down in three straight for us!!

  8. magykl May 2, 2019 2:58 pm

Thanks. After trying to watch it on my tablet and phone, I finally tried my laptop, which works, but no sound.

  9. Cindy Luis May 2, 2019 3:00 pm

Problem is, and the NCAA should have paid attention any time Hawaii plays, their site continues to crash because of the overload.

After trying to watch it on my tablet and phone, I finally tried my laptop, which works, though sound is spotty.

Just saw the picture above showing the aunties who give leis to the boys, so glad they could make the trip, thats so awesome, must be one of the highlights of their lives! I would kill to be in that position hehehe. I hope they can rest up and play well sat!

  20. Andrew May 2, 2019 4:33 pm

Hopefully the Pepperdine beach match goes to 5

  21. Big Island Volleyball Fan May 2, 2019 4:47 pm

    20. I know that I sound like a pessimist though I’m no fan of Long Beach. Even if the match with Pepperdine goes to 5, it won’t faze the Forty-Niners, as they’ll get a full day of rest before the national championship match. After all, Long Beach had beaten Hawaii twice in five sets on consecutive days. Moreover, Long Beach has remained unbeaten at home since 2016. The odds are heavily in favor of Long Beach. Hawaii will have to bring its A+ game and work a miracle. All that remains is for Hawaii to prove me wrong once again.

  22. Cindy Luis May 2, 2019 5:01 pm

    17. hi jeff. they don’t give out attendance until after the second match.
i’d say maybe 2500 for the Hawaii-Lewis match but crowd filtered in late.

  23. lina May 2, 2019 5:04 pm

    20. More like I hope Pepperdine can pull off the upset of a lifetime tonight.

  24. Maverick May 2, 2019 5:11 pm

The odds are NOT heavily in LBSU’s favor. Excepting last year’s BW championship match, UH and LBSU have played 5 sets in their last five matches. They are equals. On a neutral court, the match would be a toss up. In Hawaii, UH would be a slight favorite. At LBSU, the Beach are a slight favorite. What is it with some fans who have so little confidence that this dominant UH team will prevail?

UH does not have to work a miracle. The team needs to play well and not have a mental lapse. Remember that UH held 2-1, 2-1, and 2-0 set leads against LBSU in its last three matches. The team didn’t maintain its high level of intensity afterwards (something I saw in set 3 of tonite’s match against Lewis). If Cowell, Stijn and Rado are all hitting well and the middles are involved, then UH will be a solid favorite to win.

Things were far bleaker for UH’s 2002 team, which was winless in three matches against Pepperdine prior to the championship (losing in 4 sets each time), but won on a neutral court in Pennsylvania. This year’s team has a better shot to win despite playing at LBSU. Let’s have some confidence and optimism!

I don’t think Hawaii choked. That disrespects the other team. And Lewis was a very good team.

Cindy, appreciate your game coverage. That article you wrote for this morning on the Worsley brothers was awesome! Loved the tie in to the Shoji brothers. Enjoyed it immensely.

    Let’s go Bows!

#7 I was thinking the same thing. If they win on Saturday I don’t want a t-shirt. I want that green shoe.
