Hawaii men’s volleyball: Chaz Galloway Big West freshman of week; Warriors remain No. 1 but not unanimous
Congrats to Hawaii outside hitter Chaz Galloway, named Freshman of the Week by the Big West.
In his first two career starts, Galloway helped the Rainbow Warriors sweep Lincoln Memorial and King on the road with .667 hitting, putting away 13 kills with one error in 18 attempts.
Player of the week went to UCSD’s Wyatt Harrison, son of former Warrior Todd Harrison. UH nominated Colton Cowell.
Defensive POW to UCSD’s Ryan Lew, senior libero. UH nominated Patrick Gasman.

I would have voted the teams BYU, UH, UCSB, LBSU, UCI. The George Mason and Ohio State coaches voted BYU #1. We will learn more about how good UH is after its matches against UCI & Stanford (2/8-2/15). Then the big ones against BYU in early March–expect #1 vs #2. Lots of volleyball left to play.
The UH home matches against BYU are shaping up to be huge if both teams continue winning.
Congrats to Chaz on his first, of what will many, weekly honors.
