Safe trip, Cindy. I think it may be cold in the midwest this weekend. We’re getting a little snow/ice in DC Friday night.
1. thanks Harvey. Not on the trip with the team. Am in San Diego for a couple of functions.
A little chilly here. Stay warm in DC.
I want Charlie Wade to now sue whoever accused him.
Thank you.
Was Milan well enough to travel? I hope so.
3. If Charlie does not want to sue for himself, he (or UH) should do it for his children as they will grow up under this very public cloud over their dad.
3,4. Enough with the suing. Everyone is so eager to sue in this country. Do you think the accuser even has any money to recover in a lawsuit? How many attorneys want to invest their time when they may not get paid? This isn’t ambulance chasing. The situation is unfortunate, but there are a lot of details missing or conflicting as to whether the accuser had a legitimate claim, whether the process was “fair”, whether Wade/UH did or did not take advantage of an expedited process, etc. People just need to move on, which is what the university and Wade will do IMO. There is no win in going forward with a lawsuit that would detract from what could be a very successful 2020 season.
The narrative that I am bothered by is Charlie not being “cleared” of the allegations. In our legal system, there is a presumption of innocence, but seemingly people forget about this if there is an allegation in another arena (outside a courtroom). Any accused person should have the presumption of innocence. That person doesn’t need to be cleared of anything. It is the accuser’s burden to prove his/her allegations. As far as I am concerned, Charlie is innocent, and there is no dark cloud hanging over his or his descendants’ heads. That’s the problem with the “court of public opinion”–a bunch of uninformed yahoos making judgments without the benefit of the facts.
3. don’t think the suit would be against the alleged victim.
4. he was back at practice Monday before team left. He said he was fine.
5. I’m with you on the presumption of innocence. At some point Wade said he would tell his whole side of the story. But I think at this point it will be after the season so as not to detract from this year’s team.
