Ughhh this isn’t on OC16, so annoying!!!!
Is the bigwest TV working right now? All I’m getting is a blank screen even though it says Live Now. I tried on Chrome and Edge.
1. it’s on spectrum sports. whatever channel you get. OC16 or is it OC12?
2. match doesn’t start til 7 p.m. HST
reminder match updates are in main box. will respond when I have time to comments
Either Spectrum having technical difficulties OR since it’s a preseason match, no pregame show…?
This is similar to when they had the first round match last year with WSU/SD during last month’s women’s volleyball match. It was very basic and no pregame show.
no pregame show
No luck streaming here either.
7. Same thing in nyc!
Keep refreshing the screen.
Same… video link no working!!
Apparently the game started.
Blank screen here. Frustrating.
I thought it was just me that couldn’t watch the stream. I can watch past streams, just not the live stream.
7 – please change your screen name.
don’t know what to tell you about the video.
15. I find it offensive and it would be nice if you would.
Hawaii is up 22-19

Same story with the uniforms not arriving on time, gosh this is a division one athletic department … get it together UH!!!!
18-19. as I mentioned, the score is updated in main box.
20-21. I am going to check with our admin since I don’t have the authority to block people. I don’t think it’s being overly PC.
But just letting you know that there is potential that the username could be blocked.
25. The world doesn’t revolve around you. It’s just as much of a surprise to me that that name hasn’t been banned yet. I don’t recall that word ever being something acceptable to use. Kinda shows the kind of person you are that you’re okay with using a name like that.
Awkward moment during the post-game with that bald man (Robbs) scolding Gasman for moving his mic. “Don’t move the mic.” **Gasman looks at him like, “What? Are you for real?”** “No seriously.”
It was very minor, but weird.
Anywho, great match and we are very deep! Last year’s practice gym was already extremely competitive and this year just the same. The “A” Team will be pushed every single outting. There’s still plenty room for improvement, but I love the potential this team has. Thelle’s lively left arm is going to an entertaining weapon for us this season. Opposing blockers are going to have a tough time respecting his offense while having to commit their block elsewhere.
Mouchlias was fun to watch. His wiry frame may come off very unassuming, but he has a great swing and you can tell he has plenty of international experience. He exudes a quiet confidence. Hope we are able to see him continue to get court time throughout the season, and with our strength program in the offseason, he is going to be a good replacement for Parapunov in the following years.
Anastassiades will be one of the best serving specialists in the country this year. Shoot, I wasn’t really paying attention enough when Humler was in, but Anastassiades made a great case for a good back up for the OH2 position. That kid has put in the work and it seems as if he has been his teammates biggest hype man in the past. He definitely deserves the court time he is getting.
GO WARRIORS!
Noticed that Rado and Jakob are left handed. A friend says there is a third lefty on the team, can you confirm?
Great game!
#22 – I believe Jackson is also a lefty, but I’m not totally sure.
Chaz Galloway has a minor medical issue. He’ll be back next week,
There is an 8 page section in today’s ,Jan 3, paper on the team. You can see the names and faces of all the new players and good writeups.
Where was Chaz Galloway, did he leave the team?!?!
23. Thanks, didn’t see your post!
.
Thelle does seem to set a higher ball. Hope he settles in nice with all the hitters.
Regarding the telecast/streaming, I got a power hit and lost my cable service. It took maybe 15 minutes for Spectrum to reset their system/server.
#23 I don’t think Jackson is a lefty. I have seen him served in the past and he served right handed. Not to say he doesn’t have hard shot on two but not a spike like Jakob.
Being in the DC area, live streams run too late for me… midnight start. So I often catch it later on Big West TV site. The steam this morning looked good (for those whose live stream was wonky). Random thoughts:
— The freshmen looked inexperienced in the pre-introduction mosh pit. Dudes, get a good pregame routine going. Like Rado and Gasman. lol
— Looked like a first game for all. UH looks good in the middle. Perhaps mirroring the WVB team.
— Really good to hear the VB in-arena announcer versus the basketball announcer. The UH basketball announcer is more boring than my Auntie Nancy… and she’s OLD.
Two UH reserve liberos look like twins to me. Looking at yesterday’s 8-page special section on the team, i found they are ‘Eleu Choy and Shea Suzumoto.
Alright, so some new schematics Charlie Wade implemented. Something that’s different coming out of his playbook, and especially because of the concerns of figuring out how to replace Solbrig, Worsley, Stijn and Rosenmeier. Challenging as it looked, but Charlie utilizing a lot of depth really was quite a surprise. Although not the same big percentage numbers they delivered last year, but solid numbers that I thought would give Hawaii good enough to win. But yeah, service errors are surely going to have to improve for this team for sure. 12 to start despite the 8 aces, but Ryan is absolutely right. This team needs to learn to play cleaner with the first contact to run a play. That was kind of something that Hawaii struggled last year against LBSU. This game had some ticky-tacky situations where Hawaii looked out of sorts and/or didn’t finish out on blocks. Only 5 blocks to 3, and I’m sure Hawaii could have used more blocks when they felt like they should have had on certain sequences. But Humler, the pressure he put on the service line was what gave Hawaii a good run. Rado usually was the guy that put tons of pressure on the service line last year, but not sure if it was more of a jittery start for Rado because he’s usually the guy who could decimate teams with big numbers. Hopefully, he’ll get off into a much better start in the rematch, because the expectations with him will be huge once they play tough competition later on.
One of the players I thought had an impressive performance was Mouchlias. Concerns heading into this was which of the underclassmen would put out a head of steam when it would matter. There’s 13 underclassmen (Not sure if you can count 3rd year sophomore Max Rosenfeld in the mix) in this roster, and of course, could the internationals (Voss, Mouchlias, Parapunov, and Humler) bring the heat for Hawaii would be the big question mark heading into the 2020 season. Looking forward to seeing what this season could bring.
Cindy, just wanted to compliment you on an outstanding job on the Men’s Volleyball Team insert yesterday! The whole dart board theme was awesome because it is so true. Being ranked #1 is great but it means everyone’s gunning for you; particularly when they come to the SSC! It’s funny how the freshmen on the men’s team had more jitters than the freshmen on the Wahine’s team on opening night. I think they got themselves ready mentally more so than the men.
I liked Pat Gasman’s response to being ranked #1 in the post game interview. Being #1 is just a number. All they’re focusing is the next game and what they have to do to improve and get better; great attitude! I hope they can carry it to through the season like they did last year so we can finally update the banner with an NCAA championship! GO WARRIORS!
idk why but Colton reminds me so much of Brooke. undersized, but has major hops.
Hey Cindy, any way you could find out from the team what they are chanting when each player is serving? Only could understand Uncle-Pat (Gasman) and Para-Punov (Rado). Go Bows!
Note: Hi Cindy, not Hey
Have mentioned about Galloway a couple of times. Dental surgery. Expected to fly in today (Saturday)
