Three recruits sitting at end of bench during warm ups. Anybody have info on the guys. Two look pretty tall. The other looks athletic more physical about 6’4 ish.

  2. Cindy Luis April 5, 2019 6:32 pm

    1. Light green shirt is Solbrig’s brother

  3. Aloha73g April 5, 2019 7:07 pm

Something’s wrong with the sound in the arena. Lower section B and can’t hear any of the announcements or music. Hasn’t been like this all year.

  4. vballfan April 5, 2019 7:14 pm

The three recruits were told to leave the area they were standing in- behind team and below camera man, by a security guard. UH should have a host-guide with them so this doesn’t happen to them!!!

  5. Don April 5, 2019 7:15 pm

Didn’t know they made whine in Goleta…UCSB coach already drawing his first glass…

  6. Cindy Luis April 5, 2019 7:20 pm

Reminder that live updates in main box.

  7. vballfan April 5, 2019 7:22 pm

Recruits are now sitting in Dave Shoji’s section, along with Kupono, etc.
PA system has been bad past games.

  8. Cindy Luis April 5, 2019 7:33 pm

    5. Thank you was just about to post where they had moved to.

  9. Maverick April 5, 2019 7:59 pm

UCSB outhitting UH right now in both set 2 and in the match (when was the last time this happened?)…UH serving keeping them in this set

  10. Don April 5, 2019 8:11 pm

I didn’t realize they made whine in Goleta…UCSB coach is a real whiner…

  11. Ashley April 5, 2019 8:13 pm

I feel like the Hawaii team never fully showed up in set 2. they escaped barely.

    but oh that UCSB coach….🙈
he look like he was ready to throw down with the up ref. drama mama

  12. Lloyd April 5, 2019 8:15 pm

Chanting, screaming, clapping here at Washington DC. Go Bows………!
It’s 2:15 am…. and very alive in the East Coast.

  13. Don April 5, 2019 8:26 pm

    9. He should’ve been carded (red) and thrown out. The R1 tonight is too weak…

  14. jmy April 5, 2019 8:29 pm

No need for the coach to get so huffy…just challenge the call…and the replay proved that the original call was good…on another note, UH not hitting or blocking like we’re used to, but CSUN beat a UCI team that outhit and outblocked them by a pretty wide margin…

  15. jmy April 5, 2019 8:51 pm

The match was a lot closer than the scores indicate, but a great team will find other ways to win, and that’s what the Bows did…too bad for the Gauchos…they played UH on a night when the Bows looked very human…

Thanks for clearing up the drama at the end of set 2. It seems the players and other coaches accepted the call but the coach turned it into drama and wasn’t very good. I think he wanted to be the team that ended the streak but I think that made our players play harder in set 3 and it ended up helping us.

  17. Kahuna April 5, 2019 10:03 pm

I think the coaches childish behavior fired up Rado. He waited by the tunnel for the call. When the call was awarded to UH, he ran onto the court and was pumped and ready to throw down.

Throw down he did as he carried the team in set 3. UCSB not very smart. He did nothing but got the fans and UH all riled up.

    14. et al. I don’t think McLaughlin was overly dramatic. The refs weren’t listening to his request for a challenge and he kept asking for it. Thought he had a legitimate request. We all know how questionable the officiating is here at times. I wasn’t sure whether Brett Rosenmeier had dug the ball or not. It was a bang-bang play. I don’t think it had anything to do with ending the streak. It was about winning the set. If the call had been reversed It would have been 24-23 with Chavers on serve.
There was no reason for him to be red-carded and certainly not thrown out.
But, to quote Rosenmeier, “That ball was so up. It landed in the middle of my hand.”

  19. Cindy Luis April 5, 2019 10:07 pm

    8. Of course they do. Didn’t you ever see the movie, “Sideways?”

  20. Ryan April 5, 2019 10:25 pm

Heading to the game tomorrow. Suggestions on what time to get there for structure parking?

  21. Manoafan April 6, 2019 12:24 am

The team looked too one/two dimensional tonight (Rado/Gasman). I really like Colton and I hope he comes out of this funk he’s been in after leaving Provo but tonight looked like he just took up the sport. Give credit to UCSB. They exploited some weaknesses that the team can work on. Great to see that we can still win in 3. It would be scary if everyone was firing on all cylinders.

Sat in the student section tonight. It was really festive.

  22. ALLAN April 6, 2019 6:28 am

I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ENCOUNTERS BY SECURITY GUARDS AT U.H. WHO, BEING AT THE PINNACLE OF MAGNIFICENT CAREERS, HAVE TO PROVE THEIR WORTH BY BOSSING ANYBODY WITHIN 3 FEET OF THEM AROUND FOR NO GOOD REASON OTHER THAN TO FEEL IMPORTANT.

  23. Mikayla April 6, 2019 8:09 am

Does anyone know what is the earlier they will open up parking?

  24. noblesol April 6, 2019 8:29 am

    19. Odd. I usually go up to them and say hello and thanks, and get a nice response back.

  25. noblesol April 6, 2019 8:40 am

    16. I’m giving the refs a pass on this one. And, McLaughlin as well. My take as it was happening is the refs saw what I saw, which was the pancake by Rosie was clearly good, and the resulting point by Hawai’i was clearly good, and that the UCSB Assistant Coach was clearly frustrated and off the leash, barking and snarling over a call that wasn’t going to go his way. I think they were just trying to let McLaughlin know what they clearly saw, and that a review wasn’t going to go his way. Of course, McLaughlin insisted as at that point his AC was behaving indignantly. The video review showed it wasn’t even a close call, the pancake was obviously good. Set over, and UCSB energized the Hawai’i crowd and deflated themselves into the 3rd set.

  26. Chicken Grease April 6, 2019 9:18 am

Neil Everett better at least be thinking of how to pitch a 30-for-30 to his ESPN masters if the Warriors go all the way. He’s always preaching when he appears on local sports radio; this is bow he can do HIS part. Should make for a full show—start with he national championship removal/heartbreak from years ago. Leading to this.

And I can’t stand everyone talking about football Spring training in lower campjs. The game is HERE in the Stan Sheriff with Hawaii volleyball.

    15. all the players were in the tunnel because if the call had been overturned, they’d have to come back and continue playing. But Parapunov was animated for sure.
    new thread up for Saturday
    19. there was nothing wrong with the security guard and no one was bossing anyone around The recruits cannot remain on the bench during the match. They were taken to the section recruits normally sit in.
