WVB: UCLA, Gonzaga cancel; possible K-State matches

Still waiting on what UH is going to do. They are announcing something soon (It’s currently 7:30 a.m.)
According to UCLA’s twitter feed this morning, they have cancelled their trip and are hosting Gonzaga 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at the Wooden Center.
Kansas State is already here on Oahu.
UPDATE at 11:10 a.m.: UH has canceled the tournament itself, but matches with Kansas State may still happen on Saturday or Sunday.

Wow, now watch it be nothing but some rain, ucla and gonzaga really should have waited till later today before canceling. Gonzaga might not matter in the end but a win over the bruins would have really helped. Maybe the wahine can reschedule the UCLA match during one of the roadtrips. The long beach/fullerton one perhaps?
that would depend on UCLA’s schedule. Don’t see it happening
The UH trips are Friday-Saturday
Riverside-Fullerton
UCSB-Cal Poly
CSUN-Long Beach
They are already playing at Pepperdine on the Tuesday after Long Beach-CSUN
Friday-Sun trip is Davis-UCI
Although I just heard from UCLA coach. He said he’d love to host Hawaii when they are on mainland. Guess up to schools to figure that out. Coach Sealy aware of the series streak. said tough decision made at the airport this morning.
Thank you Cindy for the updates. Could UH face UCLA after the UCSB/Cal Poly Road Trip on October 5th and 6th? Hawaii would benefit from playing UCLA on the Road, especially RPI wise. I hope that we can keep the UCLA-UH Women’s Volleyball Streak Alive!
We would be good to play Kansas St tonite and tomorrow nite. Or Saturday and Sunday….They should stay and play at least 1 or 2 matches. They are pretty good playing Creighton tough in a preseason scrimmage last week. I guess we will see
Thank you Cindy for the updates. Could Hawaii possibly face UCLA after the UCSB/Cal Poly Road Trip on October 5-6? Hawaii would benefit from playing UCLA at Pauley for RPI purposes and to keep the UCLA-UH WVB Annual Streak Alive!
Hopefully we play Kansas state twice. Would like to see some volleyball this weekend
do we get a refund if we purchased individual tickets?
5 it won’t happen tonight There are a lot of logistics besides saying “let’s Play”
6 Safety first for all involved
7 I am sure UH will address that
Cindy do you know when we’re expected to get an announcement?
11. you will know when I know. Wasn’t given a time line.
Updating from UH
No match Friday
They are discussing with K-State about playing Saturday and/or Sunday
Depends on weather and facility availability.
Hope everyone is staying safe.
While I wish a match could be scheduled with K-State, I wonder if there will be enough roads open to allow safe travel? I feel Lane will cause significant damage like downed poles because of its projected path and sustained Cat-4 winds. But if somehow we get lucky (again), a game on Sunday would be nice.
Nothing decided as of 6 pm Wednesday
Campus closed Thursday
There will be no match Friday
Officials monitoring situation May not know anything until Friday
Stay safe
K-State this morning tweeted about tentative matches Saturday and Sunday Waiting to hear from UH to confirm
I am glad UH and K-State are making the best of the situation. Hopefully its just a lot of rain, and the SSC will be good to go on Saturday.
No need play UCLA on the mainland. Good for K-State to already be here and to keep an open mind about playing.

new thread up about possible match Sunday
17. not on Saturday.
18. it was about keeping the tradition going since the teams have played every year since 1974, first season of Wahine volleyball. plus Pac-12 team for RPI consideration.
