Volleyball tourney on (so far), Wahine soccer cancelled
Due to approaching Hurricane Lane, Hawaii has cancelled the Rainbow Wahine Soccer Invitational that was to start Wednesday at Waipio with UH vs. Montana. UH was to have played Arizona State on Friday with ASU and Montana meeting Sunday.
Still a go for the women’s volleyball Hawaiian Airlines Classic starting Friday.

UPDATE: Here’s UH’s noon statement as pertaining to the UH volleyball tournament:
“As of Tuesday morning, this week’s Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic women’s volleyball tournament will remain as scheduled. The three-day event is expected to run Friday through Sunday at the Stan Sheriff Center featuring UH, Gonzaga, Kansas State, and UCLA.
The UH Athletics Department is monitoring the situation and further information will be available on HawaiiAthletics.com and the department’s social media accounts.”
Oh well, I was so looking forward for the start of season. Although the events are played indoor , the safety of all visiting teams by air and/or land is of utmost importance. (As well as our Home Team and Fans) When possible Hurricanes of this magnitude can possibly do much damage to the state, all sports should be the least of our concerns. But I as well as all the fans may have to wait another week. (Shucks!) I pray that God will be full of Grace and Mercies and make this Hurricane do a “sudden turn” more to the west and stay far south. Be safe everyone if or when it happens or see you at the game

I think they should cancel the tournament. This may be to close for comfort. Need to protect all those involved.

The teams are already en route. UCLA arrived today.
Canceling could really hurt the wahine gonzaga ksu and ucla should be quality opponents for rpi purposes, try to play saturday and sunday at least.
Just stay safe everyone. This one looks like it’s going to hammer Oahu, especially the west and south sides. Maybe volleyball on Sunday.
I would have no problem with a Friday thru Monday tourney or doubling up on Saturday. In fact all day women’s college volleyball would be a heck of a day!
hoping for the best because heavy winds, rain, and huge surf will be a disaster we must prepare for. protect yourselves, your love ones, and property so we can play another day. lets go bows!
UCLA isn’t NOT here and neither is gozanga as neither is coming down at all. So looks like this weeks tournament is canceled
