Wow Wisconsin owned Nebraska this season. Swept them 3 times.
Picking Baylor and Stanford in final match up. Would be a great match if these two meet up.Give Stanford the edge because they’ve been there, however wouldn’t count Baylor out. Like Pressley, Van Der Mark, and Stafford for Baylor, of course for Stanford you have Plummer. Can’t wait till Thursday.
2. my pick as well but you never know.
What, Illinois didn’t make the Final Four?! lol

As Cindy has written, we can only wonder “what if” Hawaii had won that 1st set, where statistically it looked like the Bows were dominating the Huskers. It was a mind-blowing set lost that you could see in the hunched shoulders and blank stares of the Wahine. Could have, would have, should have.

Wednesday, December 18 – DI All-Americans announced …. Hellvig could make the HM list, but very difficult this year as the number of HMs has been cut almost in half. Hope Iosia is considered for Second or Third Team All-America. She will be remembered as one of Hawaii’s greatest all-around players.

Tuesday, December 17 – Who cares but I will be watching the Final of the NIVC, which involves the Summit League’s South Dakota Coyotes (which had a RPI 38, just behind Cal Poly’s RPI 37) and ACC’s Georgia Tech (which finished 2nd in ACC Final Standings behind Pittsburgh but was snubbed by the NCAA Volleyball Committee which awarded at-large bids to 3 other ACC teams tied for 3rd in Final Standings but with stronger RPIs than Georgia Tech).
For those with short memories, Hawaii played a non-conf. match against Denver, which won the Summit League Tournament Championship and with it the automatic to the NCAA tournament.
Lest we forget RAM is gaining widespread credence. Now future recruits will know her as U.S. setter for 3 Olympics AND AVCA Coach of the year for her region. This will likely bear fruit, sooner or later, on the recruiting trail. Besides, the word is already out among the volleyball community, Hawaii is back!

Answeing your question from yesterday
we had a nice contingent of at least half of the squads parents, school officials, and out of state alumnus or followers.
What was amazing was that we had members of the band (approx. 10-20 of them with their band leader. The cheerleaders/pep squad was there also. Hawaii Fans were loud and the cast of band members there were so amazing. I didn’t see any band or cheerleaders from Texas AM and Nebraska. The State of Hawaii was well represented and it’s makes me proud.
I am a resident of Oahu and traveled to watch this amazing team.
Last but most gratifying was when leaving Wisconsin Fieldhouse, one of the officials working the arena said, ” Hawaii people are the nicest, kindest, and most thoughtful people/fans she has ever witnessed in their Fieldhouse.”
That just so much joy to my heart to top off this memorable season.

Re: Allie Andrew….it’s no surprise. Baylor is the #1 team in the country with big time facilities and in a pretty competitive conference. A very good school to boot.
Would have been disappointed if we lost out to Pepperdine.
UH did beat out Texas for Anna Kiraly so UH is one for two against Texas schools in the recruiting battle. UH is getting some pretty good Texas kids coming in with Lang and Via for 2020 and Mia Johnson in 2021.
All is not lost.
Cindy, welcome home.
Thanks for all your reporting from Madison.
Just heard that a major snowstorm is walloping the midwest and heading toward the northeast. The silver lining is that the Wahine are back home safe and warm.
7. Bleachercoach
It warms my heart that you actually traveled to see our Wahine in their last fight of this season. I’ve competed in local high school tournaments and was totally nervous and pumped at the opportunity, much less playing in front of a national stage!! Mahao nui loa, Bleachercoach for representing the fans out there!!! Kudos to your devotion! I wish I could put that on my bucket list one day!!
Plus, the State of Hawaii was well represented in the comments you mentioned from one of the officials! You should give that to the Hawaii Tourist Bureau!!!
Along with the UH Wahine VB 2019 team, you have done us proud from your representation Bleachercoach!!

I don’t recall anyone posting this, but Brooke Van Sickle was named to the Madison regional all-tournament team:

Congrats to her, she played great against Nebraska
9. Yes, Mahalo nui loa Cindy. I had to work that Friday, so your posts were all I could rely on. Your work is certainly very much appreciated! You’re the best!!!

Here is a beach commit I just found and haven’t seen her name anywhere:
Kendall Kaelin, 6’2″ from Oregon

5. I’d like to see verification/source on Andrew’s commit to Baylor.
Wisconsin-Stanford in the final…
Yeah, kinda agree with Maverick since Allie Andrews graduates in 2021. Seems early for her to commit now. Lots of time to visit other schools. I would say if she visited, then Hawaii still in the picture. She’s a good middle/outside with very quick side-side movement with great blocking and kill skills.
Great job on covering the teams Cindy! Happy Holidays! On to the men’s season next.
Also, I go with Wisconsin – Stanford in the final.
#17 No its not early to commit. UH have a girl from Houston in the class of 2021 who committed to UH months ago….Mia Johnson. Many of the hot shots give their verbal early so they can just concentrate on playing their last two or last year “stress free”.
Of course, committing and signing are two different thing so even if she did commit to Baylor, there is always a chance she could change her mind and come to UH. There is also the possibility that she could commit to UH and then sign with Baylor later. I don’t think the UH coaches should stress out either way. There is always a plan “B” and plan “B” could be just as good as plan “A”.
Thanks all for the kind words. Enjoy the job and sharing stories about players.
4. Iosia is guaranteed some Al-A team. Hellvig and Igiede, as all-region HM, are under consider for A-A HM. Think Hellvig stronger case as as FOY.
5. hmmm interesting about Andews, only because she also wanted to play beach. Haven’t seen that confirmed, tho. It’s only an oral. she’s a junior. Nothing binding til she is a senior.
12. thanks. I saw it on Twitter.
new thread up about Van Sickle and Masui Allen memorial clinic and tournament.
