Yikes, talk about a major letdown after set 1. Hitting % is not looking good, somebody on the outside needs to step it up…

UCSB and Cal Poly leading 2-0 according to Tiff.

  17. shar September 27, 2019 6:11 pm

Hanna Hou. If it comes out “You” again it is spell check.

  18. blunite September 27, 2019 7:31 pm

Hawaii will win or lose by the Pass(ing). Good Passing with mediocre hitters beats bad Passing with great hitters every time.

  19. darkfire35 September 27, 2019 7:37 pm

I heard Tiff use a phrase for Amber that I really like when they were playing Missouri. I think it was “Bayou Bomber” or “Bayou Blaster”. I think I’ll talk to the Aunties about making a new sign for Amber instead of “Ramber”. I love their signs. The cutest one is “U Rika” and “Holey Moley Jolie”.
By the way, any news on Jolie’s condition?
    GO BOWS!!

  20. roygbivs September 27, 2019 9:10 pm

Looking for a cleaner game @CSUN , gm2, wasn’t as sharp and could have been a shorter game.

  21. tongo September 27, 2019 9:13 pm

Had a chance to watch the match at the Pyramid. Nice win but RAM had to really push the wahine in set 2 and 3. Glad they responded. The Pyramid had a strong vocal pro wahine crowd and it was fun to cut loose the “let’s go bows” with so many other fellow wahine fans.

  22. islandman September 27, 2019 9:35 pm

Hanna was good and Tiffany provided a spark.
    1. I thought the play by play announcer, Matt Brown, and the color person, Brian Gimmillaro, were good and did research on the teams. They were generous in praise of the Wahine and pointed out when both teams weren’t playing well, etc. Brown is an up- and- coming announcer and was the radio play -by- play announcer of LB men’s team last season.

  23. nomu1001 September 27, 2019 10:52 pm

Another great team effort. But they are capable of playing at a much higher level.
Hellvig is doing a great job of helping to provide leadership in JR’s absence. Ross doing great job as well.

Noticed Hellvig has her left hand wrapped, hope she is alright. She’s been taking a lot of swings, getting a lot of kills and blocks. Hard to believe she is just a freshman, her skills are at a different level. Imho, she just might have AA in her future.

Final thought, team if fortunate to have two great setters. They deserve recognition for the success of going 11-1 against some great teams.

  24. Kauaiboy September 27, 2019 11:12 pm

This LBSU team is a complete mess; Hawaii at times looked similar! CSUN has a lot of spunk and if Hawaii isn’t on its game could be prime for an upset…

Why does the font of comments go all white on this blog?

  25. vballfan September 27, 2019 11:32 pm

    24. Thank you for asking! I thought the disappearance of all the text was just happening to me!

  26. menehune September 28, 2019 2:39 am

Tiffany should get a start tonight. Her steady playing, plus her step out, deserve her being a starter.

  27. Hi5Ho September 28, 2019 6:26 am

Text on the vlog keeps disappearing after one or two minutes. I have to highlight the text with the mouse or reload the page. Thought it was just me too.

  28. Sheila September 28, 2019 7:52 am

26 Agree. Wish to see Tiffany at left OH/blocker in front starting line-up. Leaving Amber or Tiffany or Skyler at bench is waste of blocking resources. Better to fix it now rather than getting stung by Santa Babara / CalPoly, and be sorry later.

  29. H-Man September 28, 2019 8:00 am

The text going white…I thought it was disappearing. Been going on for 3-4 weeks. Started on my laptop, and now it’s happening on my iPhone.

  30. Brandon September 28, 2019 8:07 am

The second and third sets were rough, but out girls pulled it off, in the pyramid. More senior ladden teams have struggled to play in the pyramid, so its a good win, regardless of the beaches record.

This team is still SO good, and with Jolie they will be even better

  31. Rabbit ears September 28, 2019 9:06 am

Had no problem with Matt Brown and Brian Gimmillaro. Coach Gimmillaro provide great insite and is very generous with praise for the wahines. Hope Jolie is ready for our next home match. Sprain ankles can take awhile to heal. Our team is so young, so we better expect every match to be tough. Who would of thought 11-1 at this point.

  32. Andrew September 28, 2019 9:12 am

    31

I’ll admit the announcers got better as the match started but that pre game stuff was awkward. Their chemistry seemed so off and there were a lot of awkward pauses and seemed like it was his first day on the job. Maybe it was a technical or some sort of surrounding area issue of some kind because they seemed fine after

    new thread up for Saturday.
As for the text disappearing … this is the first anyone has mentioned it.
Not seeing it on my end. Don’t know what to tell you.
As for “fixing” the problem. Let’s remember that this season is only in its fifth week. They are still trying to figure things out.
IMHO they are vulnerable in at least one rotation when Wagoner and Van Sickle/Ross in the front row.
Agree that one move would be to have Westerberg go to OH and keeping Igiede and Williams at MB. But the ability of Westerberg to come in and bring a new look at middle is valuable.
From what has been said, they will be looking to have Akana transition to OH in spring.
