I read someplace that there is an autograph session scheduled for after tonight’s match. Not sure where I read that but I remember it.
I would be totally surprise if Jolie even plays next week at Baylor, Sprain ankles can drag on and on. Also, so easy to tweak again once back.
Pepperdine hanging tough against Pitt right now…Illinois-Marquette in the 5th…More upsets?
1. there is an autograph session tonight after the awards ceremony
3. all scores posted on previous thread

Pitt-Pepperdine going 5
Cindy, you forgot to post the link for listening online. Please do so as soon as possible as I can only listen, not watch. Thank you.
it should be available
you can always go to espnhonolulu.com
so far so good. continue to play super aggressive wahine, ucla is fierce. lets go bows!
Thanks, Cindy. Pittsburgh just beat Pepperdine after the latter had a service, then a hitting error.
Pitt survives in 5. 16-14 in the fifth.
Though the challenge went Hawaii’s way, I question why coach used a challenge up nine points in the first set…
11. This R1 is notorious for calling late down balls. Players said it was up. UH 1, R1 0
11 she used it to avoid UCLA getting a point. But she also did not loose it since the challenge was good.
13. Does the NCAA now give unlimited challenges (as long as you keep winning)? I thought that coaches were limited to three per match with an extra challenge given in the fifth set.
14. 3 challenges per team. Extra one in the fifth
I would like to see it be like the NFL that if you challenge and you’re right. you get to keep it.
15. Ditto.
No. If you challenge, and the challenge is good, you keep however many you get per set. I believe 2? Not sure how many total per game but I’m sure someone here does.
The rule as established by the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Rules Committee:
Head coaches are allowed three challenges per match. Once a challenge is accepted, the number of permitted challenges is reduced by one, regardless of the outcome of the challenge. If the match reaches a fifth set, each team is allowed an additional challenge.
17. That might be FIVB rules for the challenge review system, not the NCAA. FIVB should be the standard: 2 per set, you lose a challenge, its gone for that set. As long as your challenges are right, you’ll always have 2 per set.
Come on Wahine, win this second game, two more points!
Pass to the moneymaker!!!
YES. Whew!
🧹
come on wahine, dont let that slump happen again. go again super aggressive and how bout a sweep of ucla?
lets go bows!
Love seeing Hanna’s smile more, showing more emotions.
wahine back in business. dominate, crush, destroy. sweep ucla. imua!
Attendance wow 8,667. Amazing FANS. Good morning everyone (D. of Columbia)
Was critical of #20’s marginal play last night. Got to give props when it’s earned. She stepped up her game tonight and was a positive force. Ross played well despite the Bruins trying to pick on her. Way to go #20!
Again, Freshman playing fearless like seasoned vets! Van Sickle is a really smart player, super high volleyball IQ.
@26 good morning Lloyd from DC as well.
3 different Wahine as MVP for the last 3 different tournaments. Just goes to show how diverse this team is this year. Wow.
imagine that, wahine the #18 ranked big stack bully and still undefeated sweeping ucla.
tell us something cindy, does mike sealy appear substantially grayer than before? and somebody may have mentioned he had special scouting privileges..had. or was he bereft of that this time?
I love the fact that for the third week in a row this Wahine team has come out with another tournament title. Not only do they win it all, but they also had three different players who earned MVP for each tournament. That is just amazing and not only does it go to show the depth of this team, but the talent as well. Pure and utterly amazing. Every single player on this team does so well and it has shown in these past three weeks. This Freshman class is doing amazing things every day as well. The more they progress and strive to better themselves every day moving forward, and playing as a cohesive unit, the more this team will achieve bigger and better things. Sky’s the limit for this team!
Ross is too short to handle front row. She is a gamer but they were targeting her on serves and sets. Front row with van sickle and Ross in front is too short to compete against ranked teams.
Not just 3 different MVPs but also 3 different All Tournament teams.
I believe Jolie and Norene were on the first All tournament team. The next one had Skyler and Bailey. This one had Brooke, Hanna and Amber.
Seems like everyone made at least one All Tournament team.
I don’t think you’ll see a challenge system with unlimited challenges, since it would potentially hand an unlimited number of challenges to each team and allow coaches a much greater ability to slow the game. I’m already seeing an increase in coaches realizing the challenges can be an extra timeout (like challenging a really obvious call). And that won’t play very well with television. I agree it would seem more fair.
28. I don’t know where people get that Sealy has special privileges. He does not and never has. He’s at the scouting table which is where all opposing coaches sit.
As for his hair, we’re all getting older. His hair is shorter, maybe it shows the grey more.
30. she is small to play front row but both she and Van Sickle jump well. We’ll see what lineups they use against bigger teams.
Currently Ross is the best option with Jolie out. She is a gamer, but we had trouble getting a side out with her and Van Sickle in the front. UCLA was hitting over those two all night.
The freshmen were stellar.
Van Sickle has amazing vertical, she gets up right there alongside the middle. Great win against a great UCLA team that will be in the post season.
Watched Missouri and Baylor’s last few games, they both are great teams that can beat any team in the country on any given day, Also think Hawaii is ready to play on the road and its great they have the opportunity to play in Baylor’s upcoming tournament. To be the best you play the best.
Shouldnt they just stay on the mainland to play the match at LBSU? Hope it works out with their class schedules.
Final thought, the attitude of this team, playing for each other, doing whatever they can to contribute and help their tean, amazing. The amazing positive change in culture, this team has great athletes of character and ability. So proud of them and what they have accomplished in such a short period of time. Testament to this coaching staff.
Wahine won. Played great. So happy.
Aloha Cindy, mahalo nui loa for all you do!
Went to the game and it was incredible. Noise level had to have been earplug level or at least 85 db+. I talked to Kaleo Baxter after the game to get his autograph and I said that these girls are scary good WITHOUT Rasmussen…are you surprised? He said emphatically, NO! “These are a great bunch of girls that know what to do!” Their talent for recruiting is doing our Wahine program well! Much mahalos for all you and Angelica do to bring us prime/talented players!
It’s just amazing that these coaches are soooo good at what they do that they allow these Freshmen to perform as seasoned veterans!
GO BOWS!!!! A job well done!!!
BTW, for the first time, got my 2 free tacos for the SWEEEEEEP of UCLA!!!! It was yummy!!!
This team will be scary good when Jolie makes it back, but still hope she does not play next week, even if she’s been cleared by the medical staff. We want her 101% healthy for the Conference run.
Beating UCLA was SWEEET, but in three, that was AWESOME.
Super congrats girls and staff, you deserve every accolade thrown your way.
LET’S GO BOWS.
Does RAM use of two changes every rotation cause her to be unable to sub for Ross in front row? Not enough subs left to use? It seemed that she was unable to use westerberg as a result.
Hawaii’s better passing trumped other factors. Setters did a better job of set selection; also, Hawaii’s volleyball IQ was on displayr. (Not so much for UCLA)).
UCLA’s poor passing negated their middle attack. (Passing comes before hitting)
Just a note – the Block stats don’t add up. It shows HI with 8 blocks (if you add the column up, it comes out to 14 blocks). Similar to UCLA’s stats, it shows them with 6 blocks (s/b 11?) 🙂
31 . Also, Hanna made the Hawaiian Air All-Tournament team and Jolie made the Heineken tourney All-Tournament team.
Amber is so good at blocking.

42. Eric–2 Block Assists usually equals one Block, so 12 / 2 = 6 blocks plus 2 Solo = 8 Blocks.
Great showing by our Wahine, Helvig really has an all around… great to see a 6’3 player with a complete game! Other than a few Mac May scoring runs our wahine played well.
A bunch of us from Kaua’i attended the match’s this weekend and our favorite if we had to choose a player is Amber… keep up the great work Bows!!!
The coaching team is doing a stellar job with all the new players this season. Major props to Coach Rob and Coach Ang. Their in-game adjustments have given this team an edge over their opponents, even when they’re down. Also, the recruiting on this freshman class has been phenomenal.
47. Yeah, to quote Norene when RAM asked her how they did on their recruiting in the Spring, she said, “You did good.”
Wahine should focus on positioning well for post-season. A loss to top ranked Baylor is not critical, but winning Missouri is crucial. Vacuum left by Jolie’s absence got fully exposed against unranked UCLA. Therefore, should use all triumph cards against ranked Missouri team and hope Jolie will be used, at least, for crucial moments of Missouri games to support the rest of star players. Jolie-less-wahine can manage the regular season and Jolie will be needed again only for the post-season.
