Guess Dave Reardon is saying he has no faith in “The “Bows” and “Rolo” …
No, he’s being extremely realistic. Chow left Rolo with a mess. It will take time. Rolo will make UH competitive again sooner rather later.
No, I feel Dave is being safe and he didn’t pick Paul Harris as one of the two top running backs. I predict Hawaii will finish 4th in the West Division ahead of UNLV and Fresno St.
No, Hodad. He is being negative since we will be playing weaker WAC opponents in Hawaii. The most likely victory should be over New Mexico … we lost to them when our normally dependable field goal kicker missed a late from inside the 20. At that point, Reardon openly wrote that last year’s team found ways to lose. We also led Nevada at the half … So another possible win. Fresno State and UNLV are beatable … And San Jose State has no defense. I’m not predicting a bowl season … but Reardon is a half empty type of guy.
Harris would be a sure pick for second team. Peumphrey is incredible and the best RB in the league. Close second to Pumphrey– maybe even better is the Wyoming RB who is unstoppable. This year, SDSU, Nevada, and SJSU are a good 3 or 4 steps better than UNLV, Fresno, and Hawaii. UNLV and Fresno both beat us by more than 20 points last year– can see how we would be last. I think it will be very competitive between us and Fresno and UNLV– fight for 4th and out of the cellar.
All things considered, Harris is no where near Pumphery. Dave made the right call.
