Warrior Beat: Warriors pick co-captains

Four players with diverse backgrounds — a married long-snapper who is a father of two, an offensive lineman from Oklahoma, a boar-hunting defensive lineman, and a rugby player from California — are this year’s Warrior football co-captains.

“That’s Hawaii for you,” long-snapper Noah Borden said. “That’s Hawaii football. That’s the islands. It’s a good representation of what we have to offer at the University of Hawaii football program. No matter where you’re from, no matter what you’re here to do, we all have the same purpose. We want to play football and bring the team together, bring the community and islands together, and be the best we can.”

Borden, guard J.R. Hensley, defensive lineman Zeno Choi and middle linebacker Jahlani Tavai were selected in voting by teammates.

“The best feeling in the world is to know they care about you like that,” Hensley said.

    agreed, excellent selections

now, the 4 will have to step up into the “leaders role” — on and off the field — don’t be afraid to “bark” and “praise”

your job includes building team unity — you can do it!!!

My timing is spectacular! I posted last night and wanted to repeat what I said…the A-House Ohana made a major contribution to the “Spirit of the Warriors” art and the “Mana Plank” (my labels, not official designations). They sent their hefty check directly and by-passed the GoFundMe site which meant they were not listed. Mahalo! Mahalo! Mahalo!

One “vocal” General type, one “intense” foreman type, one “by example overachieving” quiet type, and one calm “finesse” paternal type. That’s Leadership. Perfect choices. Important. Go Warriors!

Good choices…question..Do the Warriors have the corrected uniform pants for 2018??..read other day that their pants must cover their knees, the new uniforms reveal at MWC intro does not..

Great job guys, you’ve earned this through hard work and determination. Now, focus this through the season, the Warriors have a rough couple of games. You know the schedule, Colorado State Rams, then the Naval academy. Stay focused, listen to the coaching staff and kick ass.

    They have correct pants.
    Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

Is someone’s pants now on fire?

  15. Paniolo August 14, 2018 10:49 pm

Okay…that’s cool… But I want to know who is our Warrior starting quarterback for the Colorado State Opener and most likely the rest of 2018 season? My choice has always been Chevn Cordeiro…

  16. ai-eee-soos August 15, 2018 1:37 am

McDonald, Cordeiro and Moussa are finalists for UH starting QB assignment.

    Rolo confirmed, after Tues practice.

  17. H-Man August 15, 2018 3:34 am

Hard to say what’s going on with the Quarterbacks with practices closed, but my pick is Cole McDonald to start the Colorado St game.

  18. Inyoface August 15, 2018 7:47 am

Hope we can see all 3 QB’s play in the first 4 games.

  19. UH Fan for Life August 15, 2018 9:33 am

looking back at UH’s history with the RnS, the offense will need game reps to get in sync. Rolo started at QB in 2000 but was replaced early in the season by Timmy Chang; Rolo came back in 2001 after Chang got injured; then things started clicking and the rest is history.
Colt started in 2005, and the offense was really clicking in 2006-2007.
Ideally, the best way to see all 3 QBs play is if we get can get a big lead at the half and then sub the QBs in the 3rd and 4th quarters.
