Warrior Beat: Sweater weather
Oh, it was hot this morning — hotter than heck.
The mercury was in the 80s. One of the trainers measured the humidity at 87 percent. It felt worse because the Warriors were practicing on Ching’s artificial surface.
It was like an old Richard Simmons‘ DVD — sweating to the 80s.
And yet …
“It’s beautiful,” UH coach Nick Rolovich declared. “It’s not hot. It’s beautiful. Do you want to be out in the snow? Neither do they. But you know what? Even if it were snowing, they’d practice the same way because they love each other.”
As for Saturday’s game against Duquesne, Rolovich said, it is significant because it’s homecoming. And, he added, “at the core of it, it’s the chance for these guys to play together again.”

You make me laugh! Mahalo!
kalua pig, I was under moderation for quoting a XTC song. I wanted to comment about the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey post.
1.
Lou Holtz is angry.
104 degrees Fehrenheit in Kahalui, Maui, last week. 90 degrees on Oahu. Really hot. The warmth of the volcano on Big Island is hovering over the islands.
tom-warriornation: is this a business? Na Koa. How many of the fans did you convince to sit at your section or follow with the team? Certainly I like the Rainbows. But why the sit together with you? Is the air fare cheaper with you guys? Doesn’t make sense to me seeing football and on a vacation.

Let me quess, a hotel waiter liking a girl or women waiter at a hotel in Waikiki. They work the night shift. And he likes her.
Great Morning All!
Hot ter!
…we got our own MacGregor.
🙄
…I do touch the stuff. 😈
Defense ranked 119. Is it coaching? Why do they give up so many big plays?
Will they be tearing down Ward Avenue area for the rail transit? Ala Moana blvd. is too weak grounding to support a rail structure.
I was wondering how and into where they are going to run it throught into Ala Moana? Now we can have easy access into Aloha Stadium. And all for nothing too. They might built a new stadium for football and not in present location, Halawa. Now what on that idea, easy access to the stadium because of the rail transit.
So it’s Kahului …my home town, unless you meant to say Kahaluu, ass not Maui tho?
Homecoming game, team seems focused & centered …lets go full throttle from the get go, 3rd & 4th teams need some live action …Free Chevan!! Go Warriors, Live Aloha/ Play Warrior!!!
Manny Pacqiao is fighting Floyd Mayweather again. In December. I think. And Max Holloway is still in retirement. Hawaii. UFC. Also PJ Penn is fighting one more time. Lastly, i think if i was too be working somewhere on the rail project, it would be on the mainland. All the employees are mainland employees. Construction. Nan inc. to build the last phase of the rail project into Ala Moana shopping center. Easy access to and from Ala Moana area will be possible. But the downside is Aloha Stadium might be torn down and relocated. It was said that the revenue from the Aloha Stadium is just “too light weight” as the saying goes. I hope they keep at it and look for a better area to build a stadium. 🔊
Those are class B amplifiers. Aloha stadium. Common Base transistors to the configuration.
Anyway, game is tomorrow night. Be there or be care.
Third idea for a UH Football TV ad. It features Joe and is band of friends that were featured in the second ad idea (posted Sept 19).
In the first scene three guys are sitting on the bench in Joe’s yard. Joe is seated on a separate chair about 12 feet away. Another friend (let’s call him Rob) then walks in on them as the group is rehearsing something odd. Puzzled, he then asks “uh, what are you guys doing?”
In the second scene one of the guys on the bench (the ring leader, we’ll call him Fred) explains “brah we sending directions to Joe on which celebration dance to do. We put them these boards (he holds up a poster board with various images separated into three columns) just like the “big time” (college football) programs do, because UH football is heading for the “BIG TIME” (the others chime in with “Chee hooo!!) Fred then says “watch this”.
Fred then holds up a board (the cue board) for Joe to see. (It has an image of a goat under a cube root symbol in the first column; a can of Spam in the second column; and a picture of a teddy bear dressed in an aloha shirt in the third). Joe, after seeing the cue, starts sitting up and down emulating doing the wave. Rob’s eyebrow (just one) raises. The others on the bench start doing the wave as well (cheering loudly). Then Fred says “watch this one”
In the next scene Fred holds up the next cue board (the images are a coconut tree; plate of loco moco; a shoe). Joe, after seeing the cue, starts doing the “cabbage patch”. The others do the cabbage patch as well. Rob then says, “dude! why don’t just use a picture of a cabbage?” Fred then says “brah, this is secret code, we no like everybody know what we doing!” Rob then answers Ok, OK, OK. Fred then holds up the next card. (A turtle; rainbow shave ice; and a picture of Joe’s grandma). Rob then says “wait, wait, wait, lemme guess”. “um, the robot?” The group is visibly shocked (including Joe) that he got it right. Rob is shaking his head at the inane randomness of the codes.
The next cut gives detailed information for obtaining tickets for the game.
In the final scene the group (including Joe) does a freestyle “robot” routine. Rob rolls his eyes and walks away.
Caption reads University of Hawaii Football. Live Aloha, Play Warrior. I hope they can use recurring characters (that are semi silly to attract a younger audience) to build some familiarity and create a younger fan base.
I do hope that the OL will get time to rest — be it next game or the next or the next — must get #2s and #3s some playing time
fatigue gave way to defenders breaking through at West Point? even 3 or 4 plays will get them game experience.
suckkabooya, the length of your TV ad ideas are too long. Time is money. Regular 30 second TV ad pays for your average Tv exec’ salary. Yours are, like, two minutes at least, sheesh.
We don’t need TV ads at this point to put people in the stands. We need a new stadium, preferably one that has less seats than that pod race monstrosity in Phantom Menace.
