Warrior Beat: Padello earns scholarship
During a team meeting yesterday, K.K. Padello gave a slide-show presentation on his work on the Big Island as a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
A picture appeared of his brother, defensive end Kaimana Padello, followed by joyful applause and cheering.
And that’s when Kaimana Padello learned he had earned a football scholarship.
“It’s a blessing,” Kaimana said.
It also was a proud moment for his older brother, who had to keep the news a secret for about a week.
Kaimana has been practicing as the No. 1 rush end the past week.
Slotback Tristin Kamaka, running back Elijah Dale and receiver Jason-Matthew Sharsh also received scholarships.

University of Hawaii to play UCLA in football in 3-game series
By Stephen Tsai

Updated August 16, 2018 12:18pm
The University of Hawaii and UCLA football teams have reached agreement to play each other in a three-game series beginning in 2020, the schools announced today.
The Rainbow Warriors and Bruins will meet at Aloha Stadium on Sept. 5, 2020.
The next two meetings will be at the Rose Bowl — on Aug. 28, 2021, and Sept 18, 2027.
The teams met last year in Pasadena, Calif.
The addition of UCLA means the Warriors will play three Pac-12 schools in in 2020. They also are scheduled to play Arizona and Oregon.
In 2021, the Warriors will play seven of their 13 regular-season games on the road. They are scheduled to play UCLA, Oregon State, New Mexico State and four Mountain West Conference teams on the mainland.
Congrats to Kaimana.
Challenging football schedule in the near future.
OK K.K.!
Mr. Tsai, comments are open in your previous post.
Hi, GG! Glad to see you are back. Sorry to learn of the passing of your mom a couple of years ago.
“Slotback Tristin Kamaka, running back Elijah Dale and receiver Jason-Matthew Sharsh also received scholarships.”
Congrats to all, you’ve earned it!
Congratulations, Kaimana!

RIP Queen of Soul
Congratulations Mana! Mahalo Ke Akua for this wonderful blessing.
Cole should start, have the freshman get mental reps before throwing them out there.
If Cole starts out 0-2, which I don’t think would happen, we have to see the other’s QB’s play.
Or maybe put them in if Cole is struggling in the first few games after the half.
with Cole the only “experienced”, and very limited at that in a difference offense, it would bode well for the next 2 QBs to be ready to step in
and #4 should also keep his head in the game as we never know what will happen to the first QBs — 2 or 3 or 4 plays and the 1st 3 may be out of the game.
be ready!!!
Stutzman told Bobby Curran in yesterday’s interview that Cole has thrown a lot during the summer. He is first on the field and last off. Same in the film room. He also said his running ability is quite an asset so there is a lot to consider. I think it’s the competition that is “forcing” each other to improve. Very good. Good for everybody, even us the fans. Terrific.
I’m anxious to hear who is added to the roster on the first day of school (Monday).
I think Rolo needs to pick a freshman QB and ride him the next 4 years. Sort of what they are doing with Milton. Even Milton went thru some growing pains but it paying off now.
