VIDEO: Hawaii football opens fall camp 2019
The Hawaii football team opened its 2019 fall camp on Friday morning to considerable fanfare.
Music blared from strategically placed loudspeakers. Media and fans alike swarmed the sidelines. There was even a visit by reigning Japan high school football champion Kosei Gakuen.

UH, coming off an 8-6 (5-3 Mountain West) campaign in 2018, lost some difference-makers in slotback John Ursua and linebacker Jahlani Tavai, both of whom were drafted into the NFL. But the Rainbow Warriors have Cole McDonald back at quarterback, an experienced offensive line, and two productive returning receivers in Cedric Byrd and Jojo Ward. There are some hard-hitting defenders and a seasoned kicking unit, as well, although UH was recently picked to finish fourth in the six-team West Division of the Mountain West.
Beat writer Stephen Tsai compiled some news and notes, as well.
Here’s some video of Friday’s session, with interviews with head coach Nick Rolovich, linebacker Penei Pavihi and McDonald.
