Rolo energizes practice
Coach Nick Rolovich said this morning’s practice needed a little “juice.”
It was Rolovich who delivered the punch.
Rolovich took over as the scout team quarterback, completing 4 of 6 passes in the 7-on-7 drill, including a beautiful scoring throw to fullback Dayton Furuta, against the defense’s top units. But the defense had its moments, leading Rolovich to praise the effort of the session.

Linebacker Malachi Mageo, who is recovering from an ACL injury suffered in the spring, continues to run without any apparent side effects. Mageo is predicted to be available in two weeks.
But highly regarded linebacker Paul Scott, who has been hampered by injuries all season, is expected to redshirt.

In case you missed it, defensive end Ka‘aumoana Gifford now plays for Southwest Baptist University. Gifford, who wears No. 50, has started four games.

Ronley Lakalaka, a San Diego State linebacker and Punahou School graduate, said 60 family members and friends will attend Saturday’s game between SDSU and UH.
He said is brother Steven, a former UH running back, also will be on the field. Steven Lakalaka is a student trainer for the Warriors.
Whoa…. First?
An article from the San Diego Union Tribune on their recent losses reads like they’re describing the Warriors; http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/aztecs/sd-sp-azfoot-fresno-state-vs-sdsu-1023-story.html
Did Rolo toss any deep (20+ yard) balls between the hashmarks, i.e., the defensive weakness everyone is focused on?
Looking forward to Mageo’s return @ LB.
Seems like BYU’s season is imploding:

Did Rolo have the DC out there showing the kids how to cover properly I like what I hear with him showing by example of only the other staff could join in
Rolo completed 4 of 6 against our top defense during 7 on 7 drills. Sounds like our defense still suspect
Rolo should have his DC Staff lead by example give us a video of them against OC Staff it would show the players how to the defend the middle.
If may be just talent or lack
Wish the local talent stayed but then again maybe the want a coach better than Rolo
Your headline should have been:
“Put Me In, Coach”
🙂
SDSU is going into this week pissed off after two consecutive losses. If the defense doesn’t improve, this is easily going to be a blow out and another embarrassing national TV appearance.
ESPN.
5:15 start time – I thought I saw this start time somewhere.
Hoping for at least a good showing – an UPSET would great !!!
Bernard should start at slot.
Does Mageo have a medical redshirt to use? I’m just wondering if using him in 2 weeks would be wasting a year of eligibility. Why?
Guud Evening Tsaikos…Bootiful Evening!
Good to hear Mageo on the mend….then…Tullis?…Stubbs?
Was this a D exercise? Why was Rolo the QB?..Cole – Dru on the side watching?
D really needs to step up…if they can’t understand the scheme or execute, do we still play them?
We may have some who aren’t as “ready” but if the understand the scheme and try to execute, why not play?
