Recruiting compass points to SE

It made sense for the new defensive coordinator with Mississippi ties to have an interest in recruiting prospects from the Magnolia State.

It was 1999, and freshly hired Greg McMackin went to the Mississippi junior colleges in search of players for UH’s recruiting class. McMackin received commitments from four players — defensive backs Dee Miller and Marcus Thomas, offensive lineman Darryl Miller and defensive end Karman Saulsberry.

Nineteen years later, the Warriors have flexed their recruiting reach across the country, and once again they are evaluating prospects in Mississippi. It makes sense. Defensive coordinator Corey Batoon spent five years at Ole Miss — three as assistant athletic director/recruiting operations, and two as special teams coordinator/safeties coach.

UH Recruiting Intern Josh Omura has some connections in the South, has coaching experience in MS and TN. Good to see them hitting that area again.

A portion of RJ’s interview is available on the ESPN 1420 Sideline app (click on the “Radio” icon at the bottom, then select “Segments on Demand.”

You could tell RJ was one of the team leaders both on the field and in the locker room. I was at the 2015 SDSU game when you could see the division between the players and coaches on the sidelines, and when the game was over most of the players and coaches walked straight to the locker room. RJ and a few other players were the only ones who walked to the North End Zone side of the field to face the UH band and sing the alma mater with the fans. He made the most of his UH career and will always be one of my favorite players for representing the team, university and state the right way.

What is an 8 year ” perfect graduation rate” for UH baseball ? Does it mean that all the seniors graduated on time or does it include that some in the past graduated in later semesters like some on the football team ?
No players dropped out in the recent past ?

At about 2:56 of this video, see R J Hollis,#74 and his great enthusiasm for UH and his alma mater.

Would love to see Dejon Allen make my hometown Bears roster. There have been a number of Hawaii alums planning for this franchise dating all the way back to Golden Richards. Was at a game back in the early 80’s and the Bears were playing the Falcons-I knew the chief of field security and was able to walk out to mid-field during warm ups. Spoke with former teammate June Jones who was on the Falcons roster-he was some what astounded I was that able to get out there-last time we ever talked! Good luck to Dejon-my sons both think due to his overall versatility he has a good chance to at least minimally make to practice squad. He is the only UDFA OL that was signed. They have a few rosters players that are pigeonholed to one position due to talent limits. Dejons versatility gives him a solid chance. It’s now up to him obviously to make the most of the situation. Staying healthy is key!

Before I go to work, the television stays off.

The White House is full of Internet trolls.

If I made fun of, say, Jimmy Borges, while he was ailing, I would be banned forever from this site.

I want to live in a world where our public officials are decent people.

And Hawaii baseball is leading the Big West.

I would like to belatedly praise Brody Hagel-Pitt for giving Hawaii a chance to win in Sunday’s Cal Poly finale.

    Nice job, Hagel-Pitt.

    cappie:

unfortunately, you need to wait until 2020, maybe, for a change at the top

even if the donkeys win both houses in 2018 the Pres will veto everything they pass — super majority in both houses is the only way to change the top until 2020

sad state of affairs when the top is so ——————————fill in your own words

the WH aide who said McCain is “dying anyway” should be run out of her position

    how sick can she be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

McCain is a elephant, but still an honored wounded warrior who survived torture while imprisoned in Nam and those who have never served and make comments about “water boarding” should undergo it and see if their opinion remains in tact — terrible feeling!

also, any “torture” by USA translates to same treatment of USA prisoners by our enemies

Stepteau to receive a basketball scholarship, according to McInnis. The last walk-on that was so productive was Ostrowski, 2010-2012 but he was on football scholarship (per Ferd’s column) .
