JC quarterback joining Warriors
And now there are seven …
Quarterback Tanner Darling of Moorpark College told the Star-Advertiser he is joining the Warriors. The skinny:
> He joins a QB group that includes Cole McDonald, Jeremy Moussa, Chevan Cordeiro, Justin Uahinui, Kolney Cassel and Larry Tuileta. Tuileta is still training with the U.S. volleyball team.
> Darling is 6-1 and 193 pounds. He had two growth spurts in high school, from when he was a 5-6, 120-pound freshman to his current height.
> He redshirted in 2016, then started at Moorpark last season. According to my abacus … let’s see … um … it appears he has three years to play three UH seasons.
> Darling gets his first shot at quarterback. But he’s also viewed as a multi-position player. “I love football,” he said. “The physicality. The way you compete in football. The games, obviously, are a whole other level of intensity.”
> No, he’s not related to Ron Darling. But his uncle, Dave, attended UH as an exchange student in 1986.
> He’s a student of the game — and UH football history. “I saw a little bit of Colt Brennan when I was younger,” Darling said. He described Nick Rolovich as “another great quarterback.” He also praised Timmy Chang. “I watched his highlights the other day,” Darling said. “I think he’s amazing.”
> He’s a self-described outdoorsman. “Whatever I can do to be outdoors,” he said. “I have a little GoPro. I love to film. I do some editing. I can go out there and put together some art, maybe.”
Aloha Tanner!
We love those that WANT to be here!
Go Warriors!
Is he a walk on and is WR John Johnson also that ?
Don’t look now, but it’s just around the corner of lower campus road. A little over a week until everyone who wants to be here is here and the helmet sparks fly! It seems there are only a few positions that have clear cut starters and the rest of them are up for grabs. Exciting! It’s always exciting this time of year when we get to see who will rise to the top. Competition is good!
Let’s go Warriors!
UH basketball practice starts earlier on July 23, i think due to their trip. How can Stephen be at two practices at the same time ?
Islandman:
Transporting.
Of all the super-power choices, that would be my wish.
Flying? Nah. Too sweaty. Plus, I don’t care for heights. Check that, I don’t care for falling from heights.
Being invisible? Nope. First, people would notice my presence because I assume my clothes wouldn’t be invisible. And second, if my clothes were invisible, too, I think people would accidentally sit on me a lot. “Oh, there’s an empty seat. Whoops. I guess not. Invisible Stephen is sitting here. Sorry about that.”
So, yep, transporting it is. I can watch hoops practice while the Mountain coaches talk about “the game of football” during the media summit.
Good morning!
Mr. Tsai, falling is not what should concern you. I am more concerned with the sudden stop at the . . . end.
Pah-dum-tisshhh
I hope our o and d line firm up fast, and then, I hope our QB distinguish himself right way from the rest of the competition, and everyone, especially all the starters, stays healthy through summer camp….#mysummerwishlist
boolakanaka,…#dittomore!
Wafan:
I remember a cartoon where Bugs Bunny and another character were facing each other.
Bugs lifted the other person’s right leg. The other person lifted Bugs’ left leg. Then Bugs lifted the other person’s left leg. And the other person lifted Bugs’ right leg.
And then Bugs said: We’re both lifting each other. This isn’t possible.
And when they realized that, they both fell to the ground.
Hard.
That’s what flying would be like for me. Wait? I can’t really fly.
Splat.
Mr. Tsai . . . but, if you had the super-power you could fly! Besides, if you could be invisible but your clothing could still be seen the only option is for you to go nude (not that anyone would be able to see anything anyhow). Just as long as you did not encounter your version of Kryptonite and suddenly appear. In the buff. In public.
I think I would rather fall rather than suddenly appear like that. HA!
Football…big question marks.
Basketball…big question marks.
Volleyball…big question marks.
ST flying…no question…splat!
#5 – I do not have a fear of flying, I have a fear of crashing. It’s also difficult to put on a seat belt and press buttons when you have hooves.
Football has a chance but everyone has to stay healthy which rarely happens. We have very little depth with the loss of Timoteo, Leeth, Santiago, Brown, Kipper, Lewis. We could still only give out 25 initials so depth is going to be an issue. We’ll probably see a lot of walk ons be awarded scholies to fill out the 85.
I wish I had the power to write something funny right now. Not happening.
Good luck to all of the guys who are in camp. Let’s make it happen!
GO WARRIORS!!!
(Sometimes, I do have the power to bypass the bot-check!)
Does the sports editor or whoever realize that Stephen is not Spock ?
The sports editor has the power to sign Tsai’s paycheck.
Darling highlights. He can Run and he can Shoot. Looks like a nice get!

DPK…you have the power…das funny.
On another note…
I wonder what other positions Tanner plays?
MAIN THING IT’S NOT JUST THE CLOTHES BEING INVISIBLE,,,
Speaking of Buggs Bunny, Tsai is the roadrunner of UH sports, has to be real speedy.
DPK, how big is your tree at the practice fields? Maybe that will get you going. 😉
