Hawaii football: The road more traveled

It appears it is easier for the Hawaii football team to win a road game than to return from one.

Following a 54-3 trouncing of Nevada, a charter flight was delayed in taking the Warriors from Reno to San Francisco this morning.

Then an hour into the Hawaiian Airlines flight to Honolulu, it was discovered there was an issue with the pressurizing system, according to a UH official. The official said passengers did not notice any adverse conditions during the flight.

Back in San Francisco, the Warriors were able to secure seats for the team on a United Airlines flight. United delayed takeoff for about 20 minutes while the Warriors made their way from another terminal.

The flight actually arrived in Honolulu at roughly the original ETA.

Jason Cvercko, the Warriors’ chief of staff, and travel coordinator Lavana Francisco were credited with helping to ease the transition.

welcome home to a well deserved rest!

hope Coach Rolo will allow 2 or 3 days of rest and for school work.

Boise will be a tough one, but play like you did at Reno and good things will come your way

What was in the Sept 27 post-practice meal box? Chips and …… ?

  4. Kahuna September 29, 2019 7:23 pm

#3…it looks like Chik-Fil-A sandwich. I guess they substituted the chip for the fries cause the fries would be all soggy.

I donā€™t think Chick Fil A will open in Hawaii any time soon but the team will be able to find one every other week when they travel to the mainland.

Obviously Reno has one since Akil Francisco was showing the thing off after a practice in Reno.

It was reported a few months ago that Chick-fil-A had applied for permit to open its first Hawaii restaurant on the site of the Burger King on S. Beretania just past Pensacola. New news since. Not a fast-food guy; is Chick-fil-A any good?

Jason Cvercko, who seems to do everything, helps arrange the post-game food.
I think they try to get stuff that fits regionally.

For those like A-House who do not have access to Facebook, Mei Ling, long time Tsaiko posted the following on Sunday night

    From PuaNani, Kekoaā€™s daughter:
ā€œItā€™s is with a heavy heart Iā€™m posting that my HERO and WARRIOR has gone to be with the Lord this evening . My dad was fighting cancer and agent orange . When doctors gave up on over a year ago my dad didnā€™t. He is the strongest person I know and I am blessed and honored to have called him Dad. We will keep everyone posted when we have the service to celebrate this Amazing man. If you have questions pm me.

Keliiliki looked real good. Good blocker. Edge and middle. He looks like a prototypical NFL H back. Somebody work him on routes off season. Can be really good blocker eventually if you look at his footwork (maybe even off line of scrimmage as TE and as FB/H second level blocker) in that small sample size during mop up. We need to see more of him in the rotation. I think Rolo sandbagging him.

Condolences to All of Kekoa’s Family and Friends. Didn’t give up, quite a Warrior. Rest in Peace now.

So sorry to hear the passing. of Kekoa, the ultimate Warrior. My prayers go out to his Ohana and to his Queen .

  19. Maddog50 September 30, 2019 6:38 am

ā€œWe are Marshal!ā€ Uh, no weā€™re not-nor are we Portland State not even Air Force. All three of these teams gave Boise a rough time. I am not naive about what occurred at Nevada, but obviously this team is getting healthy and starting to gel. In every one of these previous games the Boise Qb got chased or really took a beating. Yep they have talent and yes there will be a decent dose of triceration, but a crisp disciplined performance by the Warriors will go a long way to a very competitive contest. I am saying here first, we can and will win this game. GoWarriors!!!!!

Aloha Kekoa. The gets a little heavier but I know you are at peace and with the Tsaikos who have gone on.
    Peace to the Furtado ohana.

  23. PONO September 30, 2019 8:32 am

    RIP Kekoa.

Chic-Fil-A tastes good but just be aware that you are supporting a company that donates to organizations against gay righs. They follow the religious views of the founder who was southern baptist.

They do not believe in equal rights for all.

  24. Boolakanaka September 30, 2019 9:35 am

Holumua Kekoa to the other side- Aloha no! May all your dreams be the bows in bowls games and BYU defeats !

Aā€™ole no holumua chic-fil-a! What you got against my fafa brethren !

this is perhaps the only blog I read that mostly stays away from political and social issues. please keep it that way…….. besides it’s their right, like yours, to do and say what they want, within reason

  26. H-Man September 30, 2019 10:09 am

Sorry to change subject. I wouldnā€™t have recognized Uahinui. He has drastically changed his appearance.

  27. Andrew September 30, 2019 11:04 am

I hope that even if Hawaii doesn’t pull off the upset at Boise that the we get a good crowd for the home game vs Air Force. Even with one conference loss, Hawaii would be in a good position to win the division. San Jose State and SDSU already have a conference loss. We also get SDSU and Fresno at home. Fresno also has to play @ Air Force and vs Utah State at home. Nevada obviously has issues and last saturday for sure won’t be their only loss in conference. Air Force will be very tough so a big crowd and home field advantage will be helpful

  28. NotNasti September 30, 2019 1:41 pm

Attendance at the Nevada “Homecoming” game was pathetic. The official attendance figure was 15,137. It looked like there was half as much in actual attendance. The weather, perhaps?
