Getaway day
During today’s practice:
> The offense interrupted a drill to perform a quick dance routine to a Michael Jackson song.
> Head coach Nick Rolovich was intercepted on a pass across the middle of the first-team defense. “I haven’t thrown a pick in 10 years, probably,” Rolovich said.
> “Superstition” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” blared from the speakers, proving that, yes, Stevie Wonder can perform at UH.
But in crunch time — the 2-minute drill — Dru Brown led a 5-play, 70-yard drive capped by his scoring toss to slotback John Ursua. And in the red-zone drill, Brown hit wideout Ammon Barker for a touchdown.
After practice, the defense ran sprints, and then everyone went to the weight room for a lifting session.
The Warriors depart this evening for Denver ahead of Saturday’s game against Wyoming.

Stevie Wonder was an advocate for commemorating Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday as a national holiday. On his 1980 album “Hotter Than July”, the last track “Happy Birthday” contains these couplets: “I just never understood/How a man who died for good/Could not have a day that would/Be set aside for recognition”
President Reagan made it happen. Three years after he signed the bill, we had Martin Luther King Day.
I didn’t fully realize the greatness of Stevie Wonder because Eddie Murphy would parody him on SNL. Wonder’s blind condition upstaged his songwriting.
We need the bada** Stevie of the 1970s to make a return to prominence. A real black voice, not like Killer Mike of Run the Jewels. I’m hoping the current climate inspires people like Wonder and Bill Withers to school the young.
why does the team take the evening flight–wouldn’t they arrive after midnight since the Mountain time zone is 4 hours ahead of Hawaiian time? Isn’t it better if they left in the morning or midday so that they arrive in the evening so that their bodies can get the proper sleep and rest?
So far we have:

Phil Steele, in preseason, had Wyoming’s RB’s as the worst in the MW; and had their OL ranked #4 best out of 12 teams; but they had a few injuries; so if we can shut down their run game and make them one dimensional; and have our run game control the clock in the rain forecast, think we have a good chance for an upset! Steele also had their LB’s as #9 but their DB’s as #1 and DL as #4. If we can put up over 500 yards vs UCLA; I would expect we can do the same here.
If Hawaiian Studies has to approve a new mascot, it could be hard to find an appropriate one and one that fans like.
UH 49
WYO 35
10. Iowa could get only 24 points vs Wyoming and UCLA’s defense hasn’t proven itself this year. A commentator said that the Wyoming defense is better than people think.
UH 41
WY 40
Warriors 42-37 barn-burner
WYO gonna exploit our corners…. Front 7 gotta b in attack-mode from da kickoff. Offense, open da playbook: shovel & screen passes. AND throw some balls to T ‘Unga, he should be getting at least 8-15 chances a game.
Oh, btw, last time we ova dea, we lost by 3pts.
